You pay for what you get, and it's worth every penny!

The price-quality ratio is very poor. The fish is dry and doesn't melt in your mouth at all. The woman serving is barely audible; you have no idea what you're eating. I saw a lot of positive reviews, but I almost don't believe them. Very dissatisfied and incredibly expensive for what you get. I'll never go back and wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

We find the price-quality ratio truly subpar. The fish is tough and doesn't melt in your mouth at all. The staff is difficult to understand, so we couldn't understand what we were eating. The atmosphere in the restaurant is really that of an average snack bar. We spent €200 for two people, which means we won't be returning.

It’s a beautiful serene little restaurant. And undoubtedly the best sushi in The Hague. The setup. 1 sushi chef (who’s been making sushi in Japan since 1996) and a waitress. When I went, there was only 1 couple dining besides myself. So it was a bit too quiet for my liking. I suspect they keep the reservations low and manageable. The food was prepared with an abundance of care and love and you could taste that in every bite. Food was beautiful and delicious. The sake I ordered was lovely. My only complaint is for the large bottle of “Spa rood” I ordered, I was charged 11.50 on the check and I’ve never paid a price like that for mineral water. Usually it’s 6-8. But that’s not enough to keep me away from what is assuredly one of the most thoughtful and delicious dining experiences to be had in The Hague.

Went here today after I read all the great reviews and mentions about this place. So I ordered the Arima menu: - The fish soup with dashi, konbu, daikon and salmon was great. It had an umami flavor and the taste was perfect. Highly recommended. - The sunomono were both great and the flavor combinations were not ordinary but delicious. You can not skip these😁 - The sashimi and sushi were fresh and good, I especially liked the sashimi, unagi and scallop nigiri. The vibes and service were great and for 60 euros this is a great deal. It felt really authentic and I would recommend everyone who likes Japanese cuisine to try this restaurant out!

My 2 minutes there before being kicked out was my worst experince in a restaurant. People like that should not have contanct with polite human beings.

My idea of the japanish being the nicest people in world, after travelling through Japan, has changed after visiting this rude person, supposed chef, who refuse to serve us despite our reservation, only because he was not counting on us, although we had the mail with the reservation. Barking is not a way of treating respectful customers. My worst two minutes in The Hage.

Not just your run of the mill sushi, but a brilliant trip to Osaka. Fresh, delicate and delicious. The service was impeccable, super polite and respectful. There are only a few tables which, depending on your preference, might feel a bit empty and quiet when it’s not fully booked. All in all, I definitely recommend this place!

Probably the best sushi in Netherlands

A bottle of water (Chaudfontain) for €11.50? Ridiculous, but they do use fresh fish.

We have never been closer to Japan in the Netherlands. We sat at the bar and watched the chef prepare everything with great care and attention. We tasted many subtle flavors and textures. Tip: research the range and style before you eat here! Restrained and attentive service speaks English. The restaurant has a functional Japanese design. We ate Sashimi and Osaka style sushi. O.a. sea ​​bass, sea bream, salmon, tuna, raw shrimp, cooked shrimp, octopus, squid, scallop, eel.

Years ago in Japan. This was a revival, great food.

We didn’t have a chance to go to this restaurant as they don’t allow customers with baby to reserve a table. It’s a pity.

Robbed of my money. Prices are absurdly high for the quality of the fish. I have reserved weeks beforehand to have the most expensive menu on the list and we still get fish from the freezer?? I have also never had such sad dishes and leathery fish. The chef also doesn’t look like he is enjoying his work. I hope he secretly knows that what is he is asking from his customers in comparison to what he gives is inhumane.

We had high expectations of Sushi Morikawa, which was awarded Asian restaurant of the year by Gault & Millau. Unfortunately, our experience turned out to be far from the quality promised. The ambiance in the restaurant is dreary, my first impression is that it has seen its best days. I could forgive this if the food had been good, but alas… The starter was a salmon and daikon soup. The broth was tasteless with a piece of cooked salmon, daikon and two sugar snap peas in it, all of which had a bland taste. The sushi was even more disappointing. The fish was tough and gray and had no shine, as if it was already a day old. The eel was fine, but we have eaten much better unagi elsewhere in The Hague for a lower price. The rice was hard, dry and very heavy on the stomach. The prices were absurdly high, especially the sake which sold for more than three times the normal price. We don't understand the good reviews. We know what good sushi is and this just wasn't it. Even some all-you-can-eat chains have better sushi than this restaurant. The atmosphere was not exactly joyful either, there was only 1 table occupied. The lady serving does not mean it in a bad way, but is not polite and does not show the attention and hospitality that we have come to expect from Japanese culture. In short, a very disappointing experience that is absolutely not worth its price and reputation.

Went to Sushi Morikawa for omakase as my birthday dinner and the sushi and service was amazing as always. Chef Morikawa prepared a few special dishes for the occasion and even gave us a few ingredients to go as he knows we love to experiment in the kitchen as well. Highly recommend this restaurant!

Had an amazing experience with the omakase menu. A wonderful special occasion! The place is reservation only and with the omakase you sit at the counter and the chef feeds you his beautifully prepared sushi. The man is a master. The sushi is magnificent and we loved it. The eel is unbelievably delicious. We were alone and perfectly attended to. Worth every penny!!

It's not often that you feel properly transported when having a meal. After experiencing the chefs Osaka style Omakase I feel like I have had a glimpse of what a special meal in Osaka must be like. His 14 years of training as a sushi chef were on full display as we watched in awe at his delicate knife work preparing each offering. The sushi rice was so incredible. It offered a slightly sweet or salty bed for the different fish depending on the chefs use of wasabi and other complex mixtures of ingredients. The kingfish and scallops were sourced in Japan he explained. Both were excellent but the scallops were particularly delectable. Sweet and lightly firm flesh that basically melted in my mouth. The eel (unagi) was sorced in Alkmaar and was one of the stars if the evening prepared by the chef by boiling the eel first to remove some.of the oiliness, soaked in sugar and soy sauce then hand seared with a small hand torch before being cut and served over the afore mentioned sushi rice. Literally the best eel preparation I've ever had. Another favorite was the sashimi shrimp which I chose as my extra piece at the end so I could briefly revisit the lightly salty taste of the shrimp, the tang of the wasabi mixed with the light sweetness of the sushi rice. Heaven in one perfectly formed bite. I've seen other chefs do this on television but to behold this level of skill and be hand fed by a true master of his craft was an experience I won't soon forget. We will be back.

The eel sushi at the end was by far the best I have ever eaten.

Lovely place, great quality food, definitely pricey but it's a high end small family run sushi place, what do you expect. Have the shrimp, eel, salmon nigiris, have their starter soups

Delicious dinner with friends. The €78 menu was really generous and everything was prepared on the spot, course by course. Everything is super fresh and the chef prepares every course with care and a clear love for his profession. The lady who serves is very friendly but you have to listen carefully because English is clearly the second language. No frills: it's about the food, not the ambiance. You make it yourself. We will definitely come back.

I absolutely loved it! Simplicity and quality at its finest. I am enthusiastic about Japanese cuisine and absolutely loved it. I was suprised to see some negative reviews on their fish quality as their supplier is the best in The Hague. I take it these people are going to places that cover their sushi with mayonaise and cheap garnish to make it look like more. Morikawa is authentic Japanese sushi, I went with my partner for the Omakase, we were lucky enough to come when they had Toro, naturally it cost abit more Than usual but it was fantastic and they were also generous. I enjoyed the atmosphere as it was quiet, calm and cosy without vultures for waiters and annoying music. I will be back!!

Na terug gekomen te zijn van onze vierde keer Japan hier weer langs gegaan. Dit was onze derde keer bij Morikawa. Voor het geld vond ik de smaken niet bijzonder genoeg, de tonijn was heel laf, de eerste gang soep is niet om over naar huis te schrijven, alleen de zalm was erg lekker. Een aantal gerechten werden voornamelijk gered door de ponzy, daikon en lenteui. Verder goed klaar gemaakt maar voor ons de prijs niet waard. De bediening is zakelijk maar niet echt heel vriendelijk. Jammer. We hadden er meer van verwacht.

The calm and composed ambience of the place already remined me of Japan. It was an open kitchen and the way the chef was making nigiri and sashimi in itself was appetizing enough! Finger licking food. Definitely recalled my memories from Japan, the closest to the Authentic Japanese Sushi I ever tried in The Netherlands. Unagi in particular is a trip to heaven!

Echt een aanrader, super lieve mensen en echt Japans eten zoals het hoort. De chef komt uit Osaka en na een reis in Japan is dit echt dezelfde beleving. Verse vis, soep, sashimi en sushi. Zeker een aanrader en dit soort Japanse restaurants zijn maar moeilijk te vinden. Ga hier een keer eten en ervaar het zelf! Arigato! 👍

A little bit of Osaka in Den Haag.

In een eenvoudige ambiance van voortreffelijke Japanse gerechten genieten! De kaart kent prachtige gerechten;wij gingen voor het Arima menu. Eenvoudig ogende vissoep, maar zo Japans en oh zo lekker, gevolgd door sublieme voorgerechtjes, geraffineerd op smaak gebracht. Daarna de heerlijk smakende sashimi, gevolgd door allemaal verschillend opgemaakte sushi. Alle gerechtjes werden in een rustig tempo op tafel gebracht en toegelicht. De Japanse kok zag je rustig zijn werk doen en zorgde voor prachtig opgemaakte gerechten. Wat smaak betreft konden we nog wel even doorgaan, zo lekker! De hoeveelheid is echter (en ook helaas) voldoende. Het restaurant is niet zo groot (ca. 12 couverts aan tafel), snel volgeboekt (logisch met deze kwaliteit), dus ruim van tevoren reserveren is een must.

Mooie ervaring, maar zou er niet zo snel weer heen gaan. Je moet ook wel een echte vis liefhebber zijn. De vis is wel echt kakelvers. Vandaar dat je er ook alleen maar op reservering kunt dineren. Het eten wordt ook in rap tempo geserveerd, het is niet "evengezelliguiteten"

The tuna had absolutely no flavor and the rice was also not good. the quality has decreased tremendously, which is such a pity cause it was the best we had. Will not be ordering again.

Top! Een echte sushi bar in Den Haag, vergeet alle andere zogenaamde.... Als je hier geweest bent wil niet meer ergens anders eten. De sushi smaakt zoals die eruit ziet, super! Vriendelijke mensen. De atmosfeer is zen, rustig licht, geen kitsch, geen visuele afleiding, geen muziek. Het draait om het eten. Zorg dat je reserveert, alleen dan kan je er terecht!

Di not know if this restaurant was better before but now the sushi is not good quality. The rice is on the firm side as if it had been kept in the fridge and the fish is not tasty or soft. The atmosphere is cold and stale, we were the only ones in the restaurant for dinner. Have been to omakases in Rotterdam, Paris, New York and London and this is simply not good for all the rave reviews. Honestly the nigiris at Oni Japanese restaurant in the center are even better! Sad.

De eigenaar van Suzuran (Japans eethuisje in Den Haag dat door zijn overlijden helaas niet meer bestaat) vertelde mij een keer dat als ik echt lekker Japans wilde eten, ik Morikawa eens moest proberen. Gisteren was de gelegenheid. Lekker gemakkelijk, voor ons allen het menu van de chef gekozen. WOW!!! Ongekend lekker. Verwacht geen druk restaurant. Eenvoud en rust troef. Topklasse.

Dîner remarquable, service rapide tout était excellent et les sushis au wasabi étaient parfaitement équilibrés en goût. Une adresse rare pour une soirée comme au Japon.

Kleine zaak aan de rand van het centrum met een authentiek Japanse sfeer. Japanse Sushi master zichtbaar achter de counter, zijn Japanse vrouw bedient. Haar Engels is erg gehaast en moeilijk te verstaan, zeker achter een mondkapjes, waardoor de uitleg niet echt overkwam. We bestelden het meest uitgebreide menu en alles smaakte verrukkelijk. Enige minpunt was dat we de schaal met 12 verschillende sushi te koud vonden. Die kwam uit de keuken en niet rechtstreeks van de sushi chef. Goede Japanse groene thee, die naar Japans gebruik gratis is. Ook goede sake op de kaart.

This is THE best Japanese restaurant in Den Haag, by a LONG shot. Every dish is constructed with the highest amount of care. The price quality ratio is amazing, 65 euros for 6 dishes + 10 nigiris is just mindblowing at this quality. And a really amazing selection of sake

Best sushi in the hague (perhaps in the netherlands!). I am a regular here since 2 years. Chef Morikawa starting preparing sushi in Osaka before moving to the Netherlands. And that is very clear from the dishes here: this is the real deal, authentic japanese sushi. So don't exoect to see california rolls, dragon rolls or similar, but only traditional dishes, and most of them are unknown in american-european style sushi restaurants. The quality of the fish is superb, the availability of ingredients follows the availability of the fish in the seasons. The rice has also very well balanced taste to it. The restaurant is small, and with an authentic atmosphere. You can eat at a table, or you can have the best experience eating at the counter. Nomura, the waitress, will welcome you with a smile. She helps the customers following the japanese customs, always with care but never intrusive. My advice is let yourself get spoiled by the chef and go for one of the menu, you will get the best value for money and you will have the chance to try many different dishes at the chef's choice.

Ik ben hier sinds 2 jaar een vaste klant. Chef Morikawa is in Osaka begonnen met sushi te bereiden. En dat ziet je zeker: de sushi doe je hier eer is zeer authentiek. Verwacht dus geen california rolls of rainbow rolls, maar alleen traditionele sushi gerechten met de beste kwaliteit van rijst en vis. Het restaurant is klein en met een autentiek japanse sfeer. Nomura, de gastvrouw, verwelkomt de klanten altijd met een glimlach, en doet haar best om attent te zijn, maar is nooit opdringerig. Mijn advies is verwen jezelf met een van de heerlijke menus, zodat alle zintuigen geprikkeld worden.

Amazing japanese restaurant. If you want a real authentic japanese experience, with a great chef from Osaka then this is the place to be. Great service and amazing food. I have never tasted japanese food this fresh before in the Netherlands.

Erg leuke en aardige mensen. En de Sushi was echt fantastisch. Ben normaal niet echt een sushi liefhebber maar deze sushi was te goed om niet lekker te vinden.

You know the feeling when you have really high expectations and you’re afraid that your expectations are higher then it actually is... well this is the first Japanese restaurant in The Netherlands that far surpassed my expectations.

Beste Japanse restaurant van Den Haag. Anders dan de naam doet vermoeden is in de menu's pas de laatste gang sushi. Al de gangen zijn behalve dat ze er uit springen in versheid en smaak, ook plaatsjes om te zien

We hebben ontzettend genoten, lekker tradioneel en geen gehaast. Voor herhaling vatbaar.
