The coffee was all right, but the cakes are defrosted, dry and way overpriced for what you get. Wouldn’t come back…

Very tasty – always slightly crowded, which speaks volumes about the quality of the drinks – so service is a bit slow or overly busy. But it's always worth the wait, and we'll be back regularly.

Unfortunately, at 3 p.m., there were only two different cakes left. My White Bueno Latte was missing coffee, and the waitress's response was that there was only a shot of coffee in it and I couldn't taste it. It's a shame.

Staff is whatever, they kept forgetting for our order and always asking if some things were ours even tho they werent. They dont have a lot of options for drinks and close up pretty early

The coffee was okay. The sandwich was tasty, although the egg on it was rather disappointing (two slices on a long roll). Another downside was that the bread was crispy, but you couldn't cut it with a regular knife. This meant you had to literally tear the bread apart with your fork (using a lot of force), which took away from the enjoyment. I mentioned it to the staff, and they said they'd heard this before and the boss was working on it. The staff was very friendly, though!

Terrible service. There are eight staff members, and they just stand around and chat. You have to wait forever for everything. Only paying is quick...

First we were outside and we weren't served at all. Then we went in and someone came after 10 minutes. We waited 20 minutes for four coffees and then another 5 for cake. One order was wrong, but at least it was redone, but the pancake didn't taste like anything.

Had to wait 20 minutes for a chocolate milk, late coffee and a piece of lemon cake in which no lemon could be tasted, the staff was also not friendly, despite the fact that there were eight people present, difficult communication, only spoke English,

We stopped by spontaneously, craving an iced coffee. There was a large selection, but we weren't told that milk alternatives cost extra. Afterward, we saw that they charged €0.70. Nowhere else in the Netherlands has that been as high—it's not like cow's milk is free. It's pretty steep when you decorate the entire store with Alpro packaging and give the impression of being vegan. Anyway, the drink was tasty, but nothing special.

We got here to have a quick brunch. 11:45, apparently the breakfast is until 11:30 and after that time they don't allow to order scrambled eggs anymore with your avocado toast. You can only order the avocado toast alone. And that is okay if the avocado toast came with something that looked like avocado and not 1mm of what it looked like Albert hejin avocado spread. I get that after 11:30 all the eggs disappear from the restaurant.. but come on, if I pay 14 euros for an avocado toast I would certainly expect at least a couple of avocado slices or more than a mm of spread 😅 its a pity because the place looks amazing and the cakes or pancakes were probably nice. But my own experience was quite bad... The bread was good, I give them that!

Sat lovely by the water, despite the crowds. !!

This morning, my husband and I had a cappuccino. After ordering, we had to wait at least 15-20 minutes for it. When the English-speaking waitress put the coffee on the table, some of it spilled over the rim of the cup and ended up in the saucer. Instead of bringing a new cup or a clean saucer, she went to get a paper towel and wiped the saucer dry. When I later tried to tell her during checkout that I didn't think this was good service, the English-speaking waitress didn't understand me.

A nice place for a cafe with friendly service, but we had to wait a long time for our drinks and were served with dirty cutlery and glasses. Worst of all, what's the point of these wasp traps where the creatures die miserably? ...apart from the fact that it's illegal to kill these creatures. Shame on you!

We couldn't get a glass of tap water with our coffee, because apparently the boss didn't allow it. We could only order a bottle of water. A real shame, and not very hospitable.

I ordered an iced watermelon kiwi tea for my daughter. It tasted like a watered-down, flavorless lemonade with a piece of frozen watermelon to give it some flavor. You pay over €5 for that. Ridiculous.

We waited almost 25 minutes just to get 2 drinks and they tasted horrible, it was the worst matcha drink.

I didn't understand why so many points were awarded until I realized it was sponsored. You should definitely go there if you want to be ripped off. It's ridiculous to put white chocolate on a tasteless matcha and charge €5.90 for it. The cold drinks are also a disaster (fortunately the hot drinks are machine-made). The staff is indifferent; it's impossible to even talk to a member of staff because they prefer not to make eye contact. The quality isn't what you'd expect, and the catering service is also very noisy and dirty.

I like this place for the service and coffee-like products. And the Instagram pictures you can take inside ;) I mean, maybe coffee as it is is not the best here, but personally, I enjoy all those sugar-syrop-flavour-milk-almost-no-coffee beverages, so I like it here. Also people are very friendly and could advise you on your choice 👍

We went inside to order, got sent to sit down, then they promptly forgot to take our order for 30 minutes. Once we ordered, it took 20 minutes for the drinks to come out, flavorings were not mixed in properly, "hot" chocolate was lukewarm at best.

We hebben hier ons koffietje komen drinken na het zien van sweet coffee bij het tv programma: ‘Met vier in bed’. Het was fijn zitten hier, langs de Maas. De aardbeienmilkshake en iced coffees waren heerlijk! De red velvet cake en speculaas cheesecake zijn ook echte aanraders. Heerlijk! Het personeel was vriendelijk en de toiletten waren proper.

Very tasty food and very fast service, a big 10 as far as I'm concerned!

A friendly, simple place with a welcoming smile from the young lady. The carrot cake was excellent. Lots of people passing through, I must say, a lot of tourists.

Super vriendelijk personeel. Het eten en drinken was heel erg lekker. Het duurde best lang voordat ons eten kwam maar ondanks dat was het zeker wel waard om te wachten. Als je een plek zoekt voor een lekkere lunch of goed ontbijt is dit zeker de plek om naar toe te gaan voor een dagje Maastricht.

The coffee is good. Unfortunately, the cheesecake isn't to my taste; it's a bit too sweet. But the staff is really helpful and friendly. The view and the ambiance are also highly recommended.

Everything was fine. We found it very loud behind the counter. And in a breakfast cafe, it would be better if the scrambled eggs didn't come from a packet.

The coffee was pretty good and the location is great if you want to rewind and watch the walking-by traffic. But the toilets were extremely dirty and disgusting, made it quite tricky to enjoy your coffee having seen the state of the toilets. Please pay more attention to that.

We ordered an iced latte, but it clearly didn’t contain any coffee — it was just milk. When we asked for a shot of coffee, we were told that this was “normal”. While the last time I got a regular, tasty iced latte with a nice brown color. Now they even asked extra money for an extra shot of coffee. Bad service, I will never come back here! Went there to start the day visiting Maastricht. You can sit right next to the river and have a broad view of the bridges. Tried the sandwich with chicken, the bread was very nice and had good amount of ingredients. Tried also the cappuccino, which was good and comapred to most places in NL, they had pretty good latte art (swan and leafs). Regretting not trying some desserts.

It was inedible! The latte was diluted with water. I won't even mention the matcha, which was pale green and transparent (photo proof)—thankfully, there was vanilla flavoring to salvage the taste a little. The pancakes seemed stale and smelled of feet. The staff did everything they could to look away and avoid serving you, too busy on their phones.

The last few days I've been sitting here with a friend and her parents! The homemade ice tea peach is to die for! And the staff is incredibly friendly!

The only good thing about that place was friendly staff… other than that, the place was extremely dirty! I was sitting outside, and as you can see from the photos, the floor was filled with the dirty tissues, receipts and such… you can blame the wind or customers. And yeah, you could also clean or put a little trash bin on the table. This whole place is all about how it looks, instead of how delicious it is… their cakes were looking tired. Matcha was so bad. I also asked if there was any price difference between the milks, and a girl said no. Then, when i paid, they informed me that there was a price difference and that girl understood me wrong. If i ask you about price differences in milk, i obviously meant regular versus irregular milk! I don’t compare 2 irregular milks!! How can you can this basic question wrongly? Such a noisy, dirty place. For this quality, you basically overpay. I wouldn’t have gone there if i knew that they were franchise. The tables were so close, i did not like that either.

Had to change my 5 star review, unfortunately. The drinks are great and creative. The atmosphere is also amazing. But it is quite awful how they refuse to serve tap water when it’s some of the cleanest in the world but they choose to ruin the environment and their customers’ wallets by having 6.5€ “premium” bottled water as the only option. Shows a total disregard for the customers when most other cafes and bars in Maastricht do serve tap water or at the very least don’t have such an expensive option as the only one.

Almost €7 for a smoothie. Sorry but please go outside and touch grass

Delicious coffee and cake. Unfortunately, the chocolate cake was WAY too sweet, and the carrot cake, while very tasty, could have used a bit less sugar.

Coffees were great and most of the staff are also lovely and try to get to you quickly even though it's often packed there. The cakes were however disappointing. Only one flavor to everything, sugar. What looks like cream cheese filling in the red velvet cake is mere icing, and the sugar crunches between my teeth. Same with chocolate cake. For 6 euro a slice and previous great experience with coffees, we were expecting refreshing flavor and good quality. will be back for coffee though!

Really nice opportunity on the Maas, with nice staff who are casual with you, but polite and knowledgeable. Initially a bit student-like, but the final experience matters and it was fantastic

Cake was quite tasty. But not very tasty either.

Top 5 places in Maastricht for espresso drinks, and probably THE best viewing area to watch foot traffic and enjoy the weather. Very attentive staff and free public restroom as well (careful on the stairs).

Went here on Saturday today, early March 2025 and was lucky enough to get a seat inside. Nice and quick waitresses who explained the drinks etc. in great detail. We had a spicy pumpkin latte as well as a matcha pistachio latte and a speculoos cheesecake. Everything was excellent! In terms of price, it's perfectly reasonable for the quality and the whole experience. A visit is definitely recommended!

Everything okay, however not children-friendly, because they don't have any high chairs. In the 21st century this is definitely not a good service for the little ones.

We had breakfast here twice! We liked it so much the first time we came back-and there is no shortage of places to get a coffee in Maastricht. What we liked: bright and sunny location, interior ambience is Scandi - white walls and light wood. Fantastic range of coffees and other hot drinks. Also interesting, tasty and fresh breakfast options such as pancakes with fruit, also delicious smoked salmon and scrambled egg. Plus the usual pastries. Coffee quality was great. Service was cheerful, friendly and efficient. Highly recommended!!

If you’re planning to go to Sweet Coffee over the weekend, I recommend booking online in advance to make sure you get a spot. The place is quite nice, with a terrace that’s perfect for sunny days! Personally, I love going there for the cake—their coffee is also pretty good. Last time we went, we ordered a New York cheesecake, a lemon pie, and a cappuccino, which came to €15.60. The cakes were good, especially the lemon pie, and the coffee was nice too. However, some of the cutlery wasn’t completely clean, and the plates had a strong detergent smell. The place has a very aesthetic vibe, but when it’s busy, service can be quite slow—even though the cakes are already prepared at the counter. If you’re going on weekends or holidays, I recommend going only if you have plenty of time to spare!🍰

Sweet Coffee has a stamp card and after being there multiple times I am always told something else so that I cannot get a stamp. If I sit down then it’s for takeaway only, if I get a takeaway it’s for sit down only. I tried to explain my frustration the other day and was simply told “the person who helped you must’ve been new.” The coffee is nice but service is poor. What’s the point in having a stamp card if there is always an excuse to not give a stamp. After being there numerous times I don’t see any point in going back.

Very friendly service by the student workers

I'm not into all that coffee stuff, just give me black and as strong as possible. So at first this didn't seem like my thing. But I would definitely go back again for the food. I thought they had a really nice card. A nice variety of dishes, both savory and sweet. It's a shame that they only offer some things for breakfast or lunch. I sometimes feel like having yogurt in the afternoon, or something sweet like a waffle or pancakes. But I understand the choice. The service was very nice and attentive. I also came by regularly to ask if everything was still satisfactory. I had a mozzarella tomato sandwich. This was wonderfully warm. And the mozzarella was very tasty and tasty! Richly invested. Delicious. And the coffee was good too. The only thing I didn't like was the decor. This may be hip, but for me it's a no-brainer. I sat on a wall bench very high and hard. And across from me, my friend sat in an uncomfortable wicker chair that was too low for the table. That was an uncomfortable height difference. Even when the door is opened, a lot of cold comes in. You can feel this all the way to the back of the store because there is no decoration to stop this. Maybe that can be looked into. The prices are high. But not higher than elsewhere.

I visited this coffee place recently. It wasn’t the best of experiences. The staff didn’t seem very friendly or attentive. My friends and I sat inside for about 15 minutes without anyone checking on us or taking our order. We tried to get their attention several times, but no luck. At some point, we thought that maybe we have to take the order at the front, so we went up to ask. I politely asked if I could order there, only to be met with a snappy response from a staff member who told us to sit down and order from the table. I was shocked by the attitude, it was uncalled for and rude. When we finally got our order, the coffee was just alright. It was a bit pricy for a simple cappuccino, but oh well. Also the additional charge for oat milk always rubs me the wrong way, like really is that necessary. On a positive note, the ambiance is nice. If you like a bit of attitude with your mid coffee, it might be worth a visit :)

Four of us went to Sweet Coffee in Maastricht and tried coffee and cake there. The atmosphere is really pleasant and the staff was very friendly, which was a positive thing for us. I had a pistachio cappuccino drink, which unfortunately didn't taste particularly good to me. The cake was also rather disappointing in taste. A plus point is that you can pay by card, which I found very practical. However, I have to deduct two stars due to the taste and the fairly high prices. That's why I give 3 stars.

Still difficult to find in Maastricht, but at Sweet coffee you can drink delicious cappuccino with plant-based milk. You can choose from soya, coconut, almond or oat milk. Very neat place in natural tones, nice atmosphere!

We had lunch here and ordered coffee, smoothies and sandwiches. First of all, the service was good and the atmosphere was great. However, the coffee was served in cups that smelled like wet dog, which ruined the taste. In addition, the smoothies were not fresh, but with frozen fruit that has not been properly blended, resulting in large chunks of frozen fruit. Last but not least, not to mention the sandwiches, the salmon sandwich had a scant 2 pre-cut slices of tomato, cucumber and egg that were all old and cold. Some of the avocado had already turned brown and with all this there was a lot of lettuce, which did not improve the taste of the sandwich. This is a sandwich that is popularly called a take-away quality sandwich, where 8 euros are asked for it, here a rude 15 euros were asked for it. It is a nice place, but only for coffee and not for a whole lunch.

Cozy coffee shop where you can enjoy delicious coffee/choco/soft drinks and tasty dishes. In our case an American cookie, chocolate muffin and a chocolate cream pie, all three of which were delicious. Friendly staff and great choice. A bit pricey, but the chocolate cream pie in particular was more than worth it.

Lovely place with friendly staff, and the drinks were decent. However, the trip to the restroom can be challenging for the elderly and those with small children due to the steep and narrow stairs. Unfortunately, the wall decorations snagged my sleeve—definitely an area where improvements could be made.

The lemon pie was so fresh and delicious. The interior of the cafe is cute, very boho style.

Vriendelijk personeel die je graag helpt bij het maken van een keuze. Ik had de iced Oreo coffee met een bolletje vanille ijs. De perfecte ijskoffie op een mooie warme dag. Wij zaten op het gezellige terras. Daarnaast hadden ze ook een goede variatie aan lekkere gebakjes. Een gezellig uitgebreid koffie tentje.

Had a delicious sandwich at Sweet Coffee this afternoon. They were very fresh and the service was very friendly! Definitely worth repeating!

Lunch menu very limited. Salmon salad is very simple with just iceberg lettuce. Very expensive at almost €19. Would like a non-alcoholic beer. Wasn't there. Regret my visit.

Very tasty food, large portions, really delicious coffee, very friendly and attentive staff. You can sit relatively close to the water or directly at the café. The presentation of the café and the food are visually very appealing. All in all, a really great cafe!
