I wanted to have lunch at this place with my boyfriend today, and when I asked if it was possible to order an iced latte, they said no. When I asked just to put ice in a regular latte, they said no again, and supported their point by saying that other people would also want that drink. At that moment, I NEEDED coffee, and since it was about 25 degrees outside, I wouldn't take a hot drink. Also, there was only one table on the side of the terrace where we were sitting, so I don't think the place would have gotten that busy in the middle of the workday if I'd ordered an iced latte. The latte wasn’t an issue for the restaurant, the bigger problem is that this place lost customers, we wanted to eat, have a drink and enjoy the sun outside, instead we walked away, and never will come again. 1 star for the service!

We had a delicious meal in the conservatory, with a view of the fountain and the market. The lamb steak and the salmon were delicious. The staff was very friendly and helpful. In short, a great restaurant where you can enjoy a wonderful meal.

The food was decent, but unfortunately, the service left much to be desired. The staff gave an uninterested and unprofessional impression: they rolled their eyes and even stuck out their tongues, which came across as very unpleasant. Additionally, everything took an incredibly long time, even though we had reserved in advance for a large group. As paying customers, you expect a lot more hospitality and respect. It is a shame, because this made the overall experience disappointing. In our opinion, it is not worth recommending.

What a disappointment. We had made a reservation for 18 people. The weather was very hot and we were seated in the front conservatory. It was unbearably hot in there. We asked for another option, like whether the windows or the roof could be opened. That wasn't available. Only the other side, and then we wouldn't be sitting together. The waitress walked inside, rolled her eyes, and stuck out her tongue. When one of us started feeling unwell and needed to go outside, we were eventually able to move to the back conservatory where there was open air. For the rest of the evening, the service was extremely unfriendly. The appetizers were dumped on the table or placed on our dirty plates. We weren't told what they were. And very unfriendly remarks by the same waitress who stuck out her tongue... honestly, we can hardly believe everything that happened. We understand that it was hot and that they were working hard too, but this was really unacceptable!

We were a little early, but no problem. We asked for a table in a quiet corner and we got one. It is a pity that there are only high tables, but the chairs weren't too bad for sitting on for a few hours. Our drinks order was taken quickly, and when it arrived, we were told the menu would be brought. That took at least 20 minutes because the staff went to eat themselves. That has to happen, but the guests go for their own plates? When the placemat arrived, we took a look. The Worldly Bites became our choice. After we received an explanation about the bites, it became clear to us that we could order five dishes twice. Is that easier for the kitchen? I understand that if you are with a large group. Since the menu itself has enough choice, it is a bit disappointing in terms of selection. Sure, the rounds are unlimited, but your stomach isn't unlimited. The staff were a bit preoccupied with themselves and each other. It wasn't too busy, but it took quite a long time before the empty plates were cleared and the next round was taken. I don't eat red meat myself, so I skip a round every now and then, which makes it expensive dining for me. The food was otherwise fine; some dishes could have been a bit bigger and some a bit smaller, but anyway, it was worth a try. No idea if there will be a second chance.

We had a fantastic meal with friendly, spontaneous service. The steak was excellent, as was the sea bass. Highly recommended.

We went to this place for the first time last year because we were going away for a night. It's not at all close to where we live, but today we made a special trip to Gorinchem for this delicious lunch. Delicious sandwiches, friendly staff, and a nice atmosphere. Highly recommended!

I ended up here because I was looking for a lunch spot with a nearby parking spot (Groenmarkt) with a client. I ordered a cheese sandwich, which was okay, not overpriced, but neither was the price, so it was perfect.

Nice spot on the main square in the city center. We had a quick bite to eat and a drink. The burger and hummus sandwich were vegan options. Accidentally ordered the regular burger and informed us in advance that we'd made a mistake because it also needed to be vegan. Luckily, it wasn't a problem. Everything was delicious, and the service was friendly.

It was fine, friendly service. The food was good but not perfect or special. Hygiene was mediocre. Chairs and table not particularly clean. As mentioned, it was fine to grab a bite or a drink with friends after work. If you are really looking for an experience, this is not the place for you.

Nice place to sit and have a drink

I arrived here early in the afternoon with my partner, and chose a table. The sun shone brightly now and then and there was a breeze now and then. We asked if the parasol could be taken out, but that was a problem. "I have to discuss that with my colleagues first", she said. Then she showed us a spot right by the window where there was some shade. We sat down there, albeit reluctantly, because you have much less view and room for your legs there. The free WiFi had also disappeared! "Yes, the WiFi was bad", said the waitress, so we cancelled it. (?) What kind of strange reasoning is this? If the WiFi is bad, you have to make sure it works properly again. You should always offer customers this service, that happens on every terrace, at every restaurant. And why can't the parasol be taken out when we ask for it? The customer is king, they say, but certainly not here! Customer friendliness is hard to find here. I won't be coming here anymore either. The best waiter they had left by the way, and now works next door: at Tax! This place is really going downhill! I think that's a shame. It used to be much better. By the way, the toasted sandwich we ordered was quite tasty.

Food was good, unfortunately we got dead beer 3 times. After the 2nd time I expected that they could have looked at the beer themselves to see if it was good, so I ordered something else.

Zoals de bediening hier is zou iedere horeca gelegenheid moeten zijn. Vriendelijk, alert en snel. Twee keer hier geweest, de eerste keer alleen voor koffie, de tweede keer voor een lunch. Allebei de ervaringen waren zeer positief. Ondanks de drukte tijdens de lunch loopt het gesmeerd en vlot. Iedere medewerker die wij spreken is super vriendelijk, signaleert snel lege glazen of borden en maakt een klein praatje. Het eten was ook erg lekker. Grote porties en smaakt goed. Nette afwerking met bestek en alles wat op tafel moet staan (zout, peper, etc) staat er, en de tafels worden prima schoon gehouden en het totaal plaatje zorgde voor de perfecte horeca beleving. Prijzen zijn gemiddeld. Een absolute aanrader!

Enjoying a drink on the terrace, until a male waiter came by. Super grumpy and told us that we had to leave quickly at 00:00 while our last drink was not finished yet. If you don't like your job, don't do it. I understand that the place wants to close at 00:00 but then serve the last round earlier... no need to walk around so grumpy and that we had to pour our drink back.

We hebben vanavond gezellig een borrelplankje gegeten, met de hond. Bij de ingang stond al gelijk drinken voor honden erg diervriendelijk, mijn hond kreeg zelfs nog een lekker koekje, als je met je hondje ergens heen wilt is dit echt perfect heerlijke snacks en vriendelijk en beleefd personeel echt top!

Wij begrijpen de minder goede reviews niet echt. Onze ervaring was positief. We hebben gelucht op het terras: sateh en de Stadthuysburger. Royale hoeveelheid frietjes en klein bakje sla erbij. Alles smaakte prima. Supervriendelijk personeel. Goede prijs-kwaliteitsverhouding.

Nice view over the square under the heater, with a good beer: the winter bell. I recommend it 23-4-2024: nice food with a variety of snacks and with a nice beer. Friendly service and enjoyed the heaters that were on. 17.7.2025. Great food. And more than I could eat. The make it double burger is quite big. I can recommend the imperial stout if you like a stout but the coffee is also good here. Again a friendly welcome with some jokes.

What a mockery. Possibly the worst place I've ever been. A total lack of structure and management, which left the staff running around like headless chickens. Where is the owner? Who controls things? I almost started to feel sad, because the staff themselves were hospitable and tried to do their best. A tournedos with bacon wrapped around it? Who comes up with it? I also got it 'blue rare'. What a travesty.. I was done with it after 3 bites. Vicarious shame of the big picture. I would almost put on an apron and put things in order there, because the operator of this establishment seems to give a complete shit about it. How can you treat your staff like this? How can you leave your business to (still) inexperienced staff? Where are you? You screwed up.

day 1 had a small lunch here; nice, tasty and pleasant, especially the contact with the staff; Day 2 we pass by here and are immediately recognized by the nicest service with the words "besides grilled cheese we also have tapas...". And that's exactly what we're looking for, so let's join in :-). The tapas was exactly what we wanted, very much enjoyed. The staff also deserves compliments for their excellent work, but unfortunately you don't experience that often.

Literally in the old Town Hall, where the VVV is located next to the restaurant. It is a beautifully renovated restaurant, especially inside it has become very cozy. Terrace is not really my place, but it is personal. Can also have a great lunch there..

Tasty and good food, very friendly staff. We sat inside, there was a strong wind in the restaurant, a bit cold. Smoking is allowed in the conservatory and is therefore not an option. Furthermore, it is very unpleasant to look into the illuminated hall of the tourist office/museum/art library. Makes it a bit atmospheric if you sit with your face to that side.

Such a shame that they are turning the conservatory with evening sun into a smoking terrace! As a non-smoker you can never sit 'on the evening sun' side, because it is blue with smoke, in good or bad weather. Rendang wasn't great either

We hebben heerlijk op het terras in het zonnetje gezeten. Het duurde even voordat iemand onze bestelling kwam opnemen. We moesten daarna best lang wachten op het voorgerecht en nog langer wachten op het hoofdgerecht. De reden was dat het erg druk was, tja dat kan. Wat ik wel slordig vindt is dat je bij het weghalen van de lege glazen en bij het opdienen van de gerechten niet gevraagd wordt of je nog een drankje wil. Daarnaast bleven onze lege borden lang op tafel staan. Bediening was wel vriendelijk, maar gewoon niet erg scherp. De gerechten waren trouwens erg lekker: Vitello Tonato, Salade geitenkaas en burger.

The products at this restaurant are good, although there was little taste in my satay. The 2 person tables are very small. The inside part of the business is adjacent to a kind of tourist office with bright white light, not attractive. Too bad because the rest of the restaurant looks fine. The waitress made you nervous. She kept walking around and asking again if you wanted something to drink even when the glasses were still full on the table. Had to wait a long time for the main course because the kitchen forgot to inform us that the starter had been consumed. The main course was not yet finished and there was the waitress again. We didn't want dessert so the waitress immediately asked if we wanted to pay. We indicated that we wanted to finish our drinks quietly, but within 1 minute she was at our table with the bills and the ATM. Fine if you still have to learn it if that was the case.... otherwise I will certainly do something about this as an owner/manager.

Yesterday after a long walk in Brabantse Biesbosch we wanted to have a drink and a quick google search led us to Oude Stadthuys! friendly welcome even though we had a dog with us, a bowl of water for the dog and the dog also got dog treats. we have delicious nachos and wine thank you for your hospitality, we will definitely come back to dine again

Gisteravond hier heerlijk het tapas menu gegeten. Prima, leuke, vlotte, sociale, vrolijke, vlotte bediening. Eten is prima en juiste hoeveelheden per keer. Als ik weer eens in Gorinchem kom dan kom ik zeker weer eens bij jullie eten. Prijs/kwaliteit is prima.

Fantastisch leuke ervaring met personeel.wat tenniste voldoende aanwezig is en een goede, nette, vlotte en leuke bediening Sfeervol en lekker gegeten Fijne avond uit gehad 👌

Erg sfeervol tentje! Fijn terras! Super vlotte en vriendelijke bediening. De wijn is lekker! En de tapas zijn erg lekker en vers. Soms maybe ietsje meer peper en zout. We hoeften nooit lang te wachten. Wij komen hier zeker terug! 1 van de betere tapasrestaurantjes!! Aanraders : Forelmouse, carpaccio, spare-ribs, gefrituurde mosselen, malse kip, crème brulee, cheesecake!

We hebben samen gezellig gedineerd. Geweldige ontvangst. Fijne bediening. Lekker eten. Top restaurant!! We komen zeker weer terug. Gr. Fam van Caem Drunen.

Lekker bakkie koffie gedaan er was zelfs een koekje voor de hond

WC's waren allebei vies (en het was nog vroeg op de dag) en de grote koffie verkeerd van 5,80 euro was, vergeleken met andere restaurants, normaal van grootte en smaakte helaas niet lekker. Bediening was wel zeer vriendelijk.

Ribbetjes. Lekker en heel mals, slaatje en frietjes. Meer dan voldoende. Moet niet meer zijn. Top
