Having a nice lunch inside with the air conditioning on. Ate a delicious hamburger sandwich and the others had Korean crunchy chicken. Also very tasty.

We went here for supper and are very happy with our meal. We had the beef stir fry and chicken satay and both were fresh out of the pan and flavourful. The stir fry was so enjoyable that I wanted to try to recreate it at home!

I ate here with friends last year and it was good. Now in June, I ordered 2 special spring rolls and a tomato soup by phone in the evening. Upon arrival, no one at the takeaway counter said hello to us, and we stood there waiting for a minute without anyone helping us or giving us the food that was already ready. A big fail for customer friendliness. Not greeting us and acting as if we weren't there was embarrassing. Once home, we ate the special spring roll, which didn't look appetizing to begin with. Very disappointed because the spring roll was anything but crispy; due to the large amount of peanut sauce on it, it became very soft. The spring roll itself was poorly filled and had little flavor; clearly not made fresh, and the dough was still raw. After 15 minutes, my husband and I were sitting on the toilet with cramps. All of this is very unfortunate and I am deeply disappointed! I wonder if the owner will respond to this message; I regularly write reviews for hotels and restaurants. I am not a killjoy, but I give my honest opinion.

Great food, friendly service. It took a bit long, but luckily we weren't in a rush.

The food was tasty. The service was mediocre. The cutlery was thrown on the table and we had to wait a very long time a few times before we were served. The staff clearly had no desire to be hospitable that evening. Would not recommend it.

Visited again after a long time. The menu has gotten smaller, but the choices are still good. The staff were nice. I had the satay, which was tasty. A bit too few fries with the kids' menu. Really only for the youngest kids. For slightly older kids, just order fries. We sat on the terrace and arrived fairly early. It was perfectly bearable. Inside, the air conditioning was on and it was nice and cool. The atmosphere inside is very cozy.

Terrible service, couldn't even manage a smile. And to think the season is just starting. Not recommended as far as I'm concerned.

We ate there on Saturday with 8 people, 4 of whom were dissatisfied. The Carpaccio was a plate of lettuce with a few slices of Carpaccio instead of the other way around. We mentioned this, but the response was... "never had any complaints, you can choose something else." That wasn't the point; it was simply too little for the price. I have never seen such a small quantity, unless you call it a salad with Carpaccio slices. The schnitzels were also mediocre. When we asked if we had enjoyed our meal and wanted dessert, we mentioned that half of us were dissatisfied, but nothing was done about it and we were easily brushed off. A shame... The satay and pork tenderloin were fine. Naturally, we had drinks somewhere else after dinner. No second time for us.

An excellent place for a rest stop during a walking or cycling tour in the Otterlo area. Ice cream and snacks, as well as lunch and meals, are available in a charming atmosphere at reasonable prices. Highly recommended.

Lots of variety in food options. The food was delicious, I had their steak rare, just perfect, comes with fried small potatoes and some garnish. Very nice cocktail choices. Get some bread with herb butter, it's delicious. Soups are so good, like home made but better. Very nice cozy atmosphere with comfortable booths and tables, beautiful flowers, perfect lighting. Service is excellent, friendly staff. You can easily sit there for 3 to 4 hours without waiters constantly bugging you like they do in USA, just different way of doing things, they want you to have a memorable experience, which it was for me.

A friend and I both got a sundae for €3.50. We were served by two different people, and I got half as much as my friend, and I'm talking about a very small amount. So, it's unfair that my friend gets more ice cream when we paid the same amount.

I visited this restaurant around lunchtime while staying at a nearby hotel. I was alone and looking for some Asian food, as I hadn’t eaten anything yet and was quite hungry. I ordered from the Asian menu (as shown in the photo I took). Here are my thoughts on the dishes: Chicken with vegetables (Stukjes kipfilet met groenten gewokt): 2.5/5 Foe Yong Hai (omelet with tomato/sweet sauce): 2/5 – It was okay, but could be improved Babi Pangang: 3/5 – Alright Kroepoek: 3/5 2 sticks of saté: 3/5 – Tasted similar to supermarket saté Fried rice: 3/5 – Alright The portion size was good and would easily be enough for two people, or even three. I would say the focus is more on quantity than quality. For around €35 for two people, it is acceptable, though slightly expensive for what you get. The staff were casual and polite. The food arrived fairly quickly, within about 10–15 minutes after ordering. Overall, if you’re looking for a nearby Asian restaurant, this place is okay. However, I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re expecting high-end or authentic flavors, as the taste is quite general. Personally, I wouldn’t return, but it may suit someone looking for a simple and filling meal.

Cozy interior decoration around Christmastime. The food is very tasty, and the portions are large (unlike many other restaurants in the area). This is really well organized. The orders arrived quickly as well. The service is a bit quirky, but otherwise quite nice. The value for money is good.

We only went here for coffee, cappuccino, and apple pie. The cappuccino and coffee were indistinguishable in size. It was a small cup and definitely not a cappuccino. There was no milk foam and it tasted a bit sour. The apple pie tasted like it came from the freezer. Watery and lacking in flavor. Not recommended.

A pleasant stopover with surprisingly good service! On a Friday evening, we were touring and spontaneously came across the charming town of Otterlo. The terraces were pleasantly packed, and the village truly exuded a friendly atmosphere. This caught our attention, so we turned the motorbike around and decided to eat here. Luckily, there was still a table available. We were served quickly and friendly, with drinks on the table and the menu in hand. Despite the crowd, everything went smoothly: the service was prompt, attentive, and well-coordinated. The menu was simple but perfect—no frills, but deliciously prepared. The food was on the table in no time, and it tasted excellent. After a delicious meal and a full stomach, we hopped back on the motorbike and continued our journey. The weather also cooperated, which completed the picture. In short: a lovely place to spontaneously stop by, with a pleasant atmosphere and a kitchen that delivers on its promises. Definitely a place to remember when we're in the area again!

The food is excellent and reasonably priced. However, the service is a bit chaotic. A few helpful tips: If something goes wrong with the order, don't argue with the customer about who's right. In my line of work, the customer is always right, and you resolve the issue. If someone dines alone, treat them as if they're welcome and want to have a pleasant evening. See the person and give them the same attention you would a table of six.

Ordered a carpaccio sandwich today. It was disappointing: 1 brown roll with some carpaccio and a load of lettuce on top. Lettuce, yes, not arugula but lettuce with tomato and egg. This was just as disappointing considering that it also cost €15.

We had a wonderful experience at 't Smulhuis in Otterlo! It was the perfect place to stop for a meal. The food was absolutely delicious—freshly prepared, with generous portions that were great value. Everything you could want from a classic Dutch snack bar was done perfectly. What truly made our visit special, however, was the service. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, serving everyone with a genuine smile. Their wonderful attitude created a fantastic, positive atmosphere that made the whole experience even better. If you are in Otterlo and looking for delicious food served by genuinely lovely people, you absolutely must visit 't Smulhuis. We highly recommend it and will definitely be back on our next visit to the area!

The food was truly some of the worst I've ever eaten! Considering the high price, you feel like you've been ripped off! Everything tasted old, cheap, and stale. After eating, you felt like you were going to get sick. The service was slow and not particularly friendly, and the ambiance right on the main street and the cheap furnishings don't help either. Don't go there under any circumstances; get something proper around the corner.

Bad, not even worth a star. I used to have delicious food, but now it's incredibly bad and expensive. Despite reporting this, I paid the full bill of €66.60, which was a waste of money. The staff was friendly and tried to make something of it. I received two extra spare ribs (€25.00), but it still wasn't a filling meal. The shrimp teriyaki (€24.00) was also just 6 shrimp 🤔 and tasteless.

Just ate here. Ordered bitterlemon had all pieces in it, according to the service this was supposed to be. Pork tenderloin was very tough. And the schnitzel was very small. Service very slow and not friendly. Walk back empty-handed while your table is full of empty glasses. We sat at the end of the terrace, they only came once for drinks, it was 30 degrees. Raised our hand a few times but service did not look at it. Not really recommended

Het is een ruim opgezet eetcafé. Uitgebreide menukaart. Het eten dat langs komt ziet er goed uit. We hebben er pannenkoeken gegeten. Die waren gewoon goed.

Wat een teleurstelling, eten ziet er onaantrekkelijk uit. Broodje hamburger , 15 euro !!, was werkelijk niet te eten. Vlees, broodje, saus, alles smaakloos, gewoon vies eigenlijk. Geen aanrader. !

This used to be a glorified snack bar but has been transformed into a full-fledged restaurant with Asian influences, from good pancakes, Black Agnes to Chinese. Also nice local beers on the beer menu.

Chinese food picked up at 't Smulhuis. Quality, taste etc. is good. Seems to be a bit more expensive than the Chinese in Harskamp. But maybe the portions are a bit bigger there; I don't know. We had menu A and B, among other things. Should be for 2 to 3 people. We usually have 4 people left over; so the portions are big enough. They also have a savings system by means of a stamp card. And that put a damper on the party this time. We had a whole group and therefore had an order of € 173.50!! We hand in a full savings card and therefore get a 10 euro discount. And then it comes: you would expect that for the approximately remaining 160 euros, you would get 16 stamps on a new savings card. But no: "You will not receive any stamps when you hand in a full card". If I had known that, you would hand in the card for a small order (according to the conditions, it must be at least € 10), but then the lack of new stamps would not be as great as it is now. Such a stamp card is intended to bind customers, but in this way it worked counterproductively. The Chinese lady could not be persuaded otherwise, despite my objections and because she immediately tore it into pieces when handing it in, the matter could not be reversed. Missed opportunity. Long story with the intention of warning you. Spend the hard-earned stamps wisely and do not be surprised!
