Tandoori Express in Van Lennepbuurt

Ordered through Just Eat and waited almost 2 hours for my food to arrive. I called the restaurant three times for updates. The first time I was told it would be 10 minutes, the second time 4 minutes, and the third time I was told the driver was outside. Then they tried to blame me for entering the wrong address, saying I’d put number 8 instead of number 1. I clearly entered City Den correctly and even included my phone number in the delivery notes, so there was no excuse. When the food finally arrived, it was still hot and smelled great, so I thought at least the wait would be worth it. Unfortunately, it was a huge disappointment. The container was mostly rice with maybe five small pieces of chicken, and I was charged €30.38 for it. It felt like a complete rip-off. I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was so frustrating that I felt I had to. It’s nearly 1am, I’ve waited hours for my food, spent over €30, and I’m going to bed still hungry. I won’t be ordering from here again.

Takes so so long to get the order. Always( at least 3-4 times over 75 minutes!) I find it too long. Shame..

The food is absolutely great and they’re very generous with their portions. They’re very nice and accommodating and I will definitely come back here again. I highly recommend always just picking it up. People complain about the delivery times but I’m not complaining. I will definitely come back!!!

I’ve been coming here since 2016, and every time I visit Amsterdam, I make a point to stop by. It’s still my go-to spot for the best butter chicken, absolutely delicious every single time.

After we received our food, fairly quickly, we discovered only 6 pieces of chicken in the butter chicken (€30!!) and 2 in the biriani (€25). Scandalous! Because… when I called to discuss this, I had to send photos and videos to the restaurant via WhatsApp. What happened to customer-friendly service and taking people at their word? So, never ordering here again. Unfortunately.

Service was unacceptable. When we called, the staff were rude and not helpful. We were told that our food would be ready within 20 minutes, but when we arrived to pick it up, we had to wait an additional 30 minutes. There was no apology for the delay or any attempt to make up for the inconvenience.

Made us wait longer than 2,5 hours for our food. Literally forgot about our order and they never picked up the phone after we tried calling them ONCE.

I ordered the butter chicken. The chicken didn't look like chicken; at first I thought there had been a mistake and it was vegetarian. The sauce was super sweet and orange; no idea what it was made of. It must have come from a can somewhere because it gave my light such a weird color. The naan was soggy and inedible.

I really don't understand the bad reviews on this site. I have ordered from Tandoori Express twice now. Both times Lamb Curry with vegetarian samosas. Both times fantastically delicious and seasoned just right. The ordering process was also quite quick. I can only say: excellent.

Beware of fake reviews! Horrible service and delivery. It took SO long which I could live with if they would just be honest and upfront about it. Instead, they outright lie on the phone. Lying that the delivery is "already on the way". Caught their lie cause later they called for an address question and then said the order would go on its way. An hour later, still nothing. I had to wait 2 hours! I can't believe how they seem to think it's acceptable to treat people this way. If you're gonna be late then don't freaking lie about it.

A very long wait for extremely mediocre food. My order took two hours to arrive. Half the container had leaked in the bag. The delivery driver threw the food at my head before I even opened the door. Butter chicken was watery and sweet. The tika masala was bone dry. Save yourself the trouble.

We waited over two hours for our order. When we called, we were always told "the delivery driver is on his way." And that was three times... I understand it can be busy, but let's be honest. We'll never order from here again.

Absolutely do not order from here! Ordered through UberEats with a discount, but we'll never do that again. It took an hour and a half to arrive. The portions were tiny, the naan was absolutely inedible, so tough and flavorless (I make better ones at home), and the chicken tasted like nothing. The sauce was flavored with sugar, which gave it a nasty sweetness instead of a delicious butter chicken flavor. It was also cold. Absolutely awful.

I used to be a loyal customer, but no more! My family and I just got food poisoning. We're sick as hell in bed. I used to order the butter chicken, but the quality has really gone downhill. Super sweet and watery, huge chunks of chicken. The way it's cut, it looks like it was just thrown into the pan frozen solid. No, never, ever again.

Too much sugar in the sauce and only 5 pieces of chicken, the rice tasted like it was from yesterday and way too dry. The food was also way too cold. I'm not used to this from you, very disappointing, and won't be back.

I always enjoy getting takeout food from here, but my last experience was very disappointing. They charged different prices than usual, and the employee was arrogant when I asked about it. I find this customer service unacceptable. It's a shame, but I won't be back.

I ordered Laam Beriani from you today, and it was truly awful. The meat was rock hard and of extremely poor quality. This is completely unacceptable. I will never order from you again. You ruined my entire evening.

I used to order here regularly, but today was the last time. It takes at least two hours for my order to arrive every time. When I contact them, they tell me it's on its way, and then I wait another 30-60 minutes. This is BIZARRE.

I do NOT recommend this place (if you have value, don't buy here). My order could have been placed via Uber, but it then took an hour to be "prepared." I waited over half an hour without any update. When I finally called, I was told they weren't taking any more orders because they were too busy. This should have been clearly indicated on Uber so customers wouldn't have to wait unnecessarily. This made for a terrible experience on my Saturday. In short, they don't care about the customer. They don't care about your time, so the food is probably bad if you care so little about someone. Canceling an order takes 20 seconds; they don't care about my other half hour. If you order from here, I'm at a loss. DON'T DO IT!

Unfortunately, the food wasn't fresh. The biryani was hard and seemed burnt. The naan was also hard and dry. The butter chicken was watery and tasteless.

The employee couldn't even reach the delivery driver; he had no idea how long it would take. When the food arrived and I asked the delivery driver why it was taking so long, he said he wasn't the delivery driver but that a friend had given him the order to deliver (???). When I told him I found that strange, I got a rude mouth. A huge layer of oil then floats on the Chana Masala. You don't have to do that for that. An incredibly bad experience.

Order placed at 6:39 PM, supposed to arrive at 7:24 PM. Called at 7:54 PM and the delivery driver was on his way. Still nothing at 8:38 PM. I called and was told if it wasn't here within 5 minutes, I'd get a refund. Finally, I called to say it wasn't here, and we were just about to go out for dinner. Three minutes later, the delivery driver arrived.

Super delicious food but the delivery service is TERRIBLE! We have ordered three times and it has always taken 1.5 to 2 hours to get delivered! I thought the first time was just a mistake, but it’s consistently soooo long! I’d recommend collecting.

October 25, 2025 Today I placed an order through your website at 6:08 PM. The expected delivery time was considerably shorter, but my order didn't arrive until 7:50 PM—more than 1 hour and 40 minutes later. In addition, upon receipt, the sauce had leaked and the food no longer looked well-prepared. This was very disappointing, especially considering I had ordered three dishes and expected a hot, fresh meal. I find this experience far below the standard I've come to expect from you. Therefore, I expect an appropriate refund for the late delivery and the damaged order. I would prefer to contact you directly to resolve this properly, rather than sharing my experience through other channels—but I do expect this to be taken seriously. I look forward to hearing from you soon about how you intend to handle this.

Delivery was extremely frustrating — we waited nearly two hours with no clear updates. I called the restaurant multiple times; each time I was told “10 minutes,” and at one point they said it was an Uber Eats driver. When I contacted Uber Eats, they clarified it’s actually the restaurant delivering. Only after several calls did the restaurant finally coordinate with their driver, and the order arrived soon. This back-and-forth caused unnecessary confusion and delay. Food quality: • Chicken Biryani: 7/10. • Samosa: 7/10. • Egg Curry: Very poor, just curry sauce with a boiled egg. • Matar Paneer: Excessively oily. • Mango Chutney: Too artificial; stained fingers. Overall, some items were okay, but others were disappointing, but the delivery process was very poorly handled.

Recently ordered food, delivery took an unusually long time.

I ordered food from Tandoori Express. Almost €26. I spent almost €20 on raindough cookie dough ice cream. They then called me later to say they didn't have it and asked if I wanted a different ice cream (no, I spent €20 on a specific type). I waited for my money, and they told me they were already preparing my food, so they charged me for food I never received. They can't tell me they prepare food and then check my ice cream later and see it wasn't there. If it's not there, call me beforehand. Don't steal my money when the responsibility was theirs.

I have been a regular of this place for years and the food is usually delicious but it’s been a couple of times the food takes over 2 hours to arrive, on top of that they don’t answer the phone or they hang up on you furthermore when you do get in contact with them they keep telling you 15 minutes and it’s not only wasting your time. Don’t waste your time ordering here, also as the whole concept of the place is that it’s takeaway so it blows my mind that they can’t even do that.

It's the worst experience I ever had with food: delivery takes over 2 hours, they lie about order status on an app and phone, courier is rude and forces you to meet him under rain, packaging is damaged, dirty and leaking, food is cold, ice cream is melted.

Food is very fresh and tasty, service is fabulous (I got a phonecall about how I wanted my dish and it was fully modified to my wishes) and was delivered fast and friendly. And the price was amazing! Had dinner at Tandoori Express and I must say, the tandoori chicken was one of the best I’ve ever had! The food was top quality, rich in flavor and packed with authentic spices. The service was excellent, especially thanks to Umer, who made the experience even more special. Highly recommended!

First time ordering from Tandoori Express via Thuisbezorgd and sadly disappointed. The butter chicken looked right but was watery and bland, no creaminess, no spice, no depth of flavour. As someone familiar with Indian cuisine, this felt like a missed opportunity. Bonus: they included a flyer from Rotishop, which does serve tasty food. I’ll stick with them next time.

Ordered sheek kebab and samosa's on a Sunday morning. Enjoyed both starters. Price, quality and quantity were all good! Two cups of sauce with each starter and sheek kebab contained extra veggies. Will order again!

Its my first visit in amsterdam and I found a lovely halal place tandori express. I had a daal makaani with Naan and it was so tasty. I enjoyed eating it and staff was also very friendly and helpful.Higly Recommended. I will come here again.

Bad service. First time ordering here. 1 vegetarian roti and 1 cod sandwich. The roti bread is not included. When we call, they claim that we are not looking closely and that the roti bread is included. I think they are confused with the bakkeljauw sandwich, which resembles a roti bread in shape?? Anyway, it takes an hour for the bread to arrive. Our roti dish would already be cold if we had not cooked noodles ourselves to eat with it.

Real, authentic Indian street food—just like in the Instagram reels. With the first bite, I could feel my stomach protesting. I had to run to the toilet before even finishing my meal. I challenge you to try it if you dare!
