Taverne 't Koetshoes in Wijk 00: Valkenburg

A jumbled mess, it seems, as if hanging up all that old stuff is supposed to make it cozy. Dirty and outdated. The young staff was very friendly, they seemed to be enjoying themselves, but the rest didn't seem particularly happy with their work; they were rude and unfriendly. The food was just okay, nothing special. It was our first time, but we wouldn't go back again.

Het Koetshuis is a familiar spot where I often stop during or after a walk. In good weather, I enjoy the spacious terrace, and now, in December, I'm in the cozy café area. The café area has a traditional Dutch pub vibe, where you can't get enough of the holy statues and other decorations that seem to fill every corner. The service is friendly. The food and drinks are good. This winter, I had jagertee (nice and strong) and black pudding. The black pudding was perfectly cooked. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The hearty miller's bread and the crisp apple were the perfect accompaniment.

Nicely situated at the halfway point of a hike we took. Large outdoor terrace where you can enjoy lunch in the shade, thanks to the large umbrellas. Unfortunately, the route we downloaded from their website wasn't very clear. A map would have been more helpful.

Everything was great during our visit! Some of the waitresses spoke English or German. They were all very courteous and friendly. The drinks and dishes we ordered were brought promptly. Everything was delicious, fresh, and served in generous portions! The menu focuses on the essentials, which is a good thing in my opinion. During our visit, everything seemed very clean. There's plenty of seating outside on the terrace, but fewer inside. The adjacent playground makes it a great place to visit, especially with children.

There is a small playground and inside you can also sit, although it is small, but very cozy.

What a lovely spot for afternoon drinks or lunch. And you can also enjoy a great meal here in the evening. If you're visiting with children during the day, the adjacent playground is a must. Spacious and with lots of variety. It's an "old" playground. I started coming here with my children 15 years ago, but there are regular updates (new play equipment). The atmosphere and design of the Koetshoes are unique. A beautiful part of Valkenburg!

Price quality ratio is fine. Modest choice of menu but the food itself is very good. Very nice playground for the kids. Very friendly service. Sufficient parking and free.

A must-see, a lovely restaurant with delicious cakes and a wide selection of beers. It's great for families with children thanks to the large playground with everything a child's heart could desire. The staff is very friendly.

This has been a favorite of ours for years! Atmosphere and service, playground, river, forest, park and parking lot, all great. Would only like to see 3 course menus or varying daily specials on the menu.

If there is a large number of guests, you will be sent to an attached beer tent. Ambience there max 3 stars, in the actual dining room 5 stars.

Great welcome and delicious food!

A real old-fashioned tavern in a beautiful location with attractive decor and very cozy. They had a spot here for us at the last moment on Christmas Day and even a high chair for the little one. Fantastic food and drinks, incredibly friendly staff and a great atmosphere.

What is not nice or good about this. Nice tavern in the woods, good menu, good staff. We had a farmer's onelet and the black pudding. Both delicious

Had a snack here together after a walk. Friendly and fast service. Atmosphere, well, that must be to your taste, overwhelming amount of space on the walls, you go back in time.

The French onion soup is delicious. 10/10 My boyfriend had Limburgse zuurvlees (Limburg’s sour meat) which was also very nice. The music is too loud inside but other than that great place to eat!

The location is fantastic. Surrounded by trees and a play garden for kids is great. We sat outside during a nice summer day. First we ordered some drinks which were brought to our table almost immediately. Our dinner, a simple burger with fries and spareribs with fries almost took an hour before being served. I had to ask the waitress about our food or we might have to wait even longer. I had the impression they forgot to prepare our dishes. The food was OK but not special or great tasting. We had this experience now and this is a place for some drinks or even snacks, especially when you are with kids. For dinner there are far better options in Valkenburg.

There was some staff shortage at the beginning today, but later it was definitely worth those 5 stars again

The food was delicious, the garden beautiful. The staff was very friendly, but when I made a comment that it was a pity that we were not served lunch together, it took about fifteen minutes. I got the answer: yes, anyone who works makes mistakes. That could have been more friendly/understanding.

Nice place near the edge of the forest. The food is very tasty and there is really enough choice on their menu (also for the kids) Friendly staff. There is also a nice playground adjacent. A dog is also welcome, at least outside or whether they are also welcome inside is unknown.

In one word, great. Pee ended up here by chance. We were away for a day and were looking for a nice restaurant with a playground. Came to the coach house through some searching. Nice playground for the kids and delicious food! Also a very cozy terrace and nice staff. We will definitely come back here!!!

Dinner time: Mediocre food quality, long wait. At the same time there was a party outside on the terrace, so we heard the music from outside and inside at the same time. Noisy staff. In short, far from a quiet dinner, where the quality was mediocre. Still 3 stars because you like this setting; playground, cafe, not much more you can expect.

Wonderful stay in this special place. A varied menu and very friendly service. If you are traveling with children, the accompanying playground is highly recommended. It is also a pleasant place to be during less pleasant temperatures. You only need plenty of time to view the interior, which will put a smile on your face several times.

The restaurant inside is very small, but very nicely decorated. Just like a museum. Staff could be a little more friendly. It wasn't super busy, but they seemed very rushed. I think it's quite a shame. Food is delicious, portions are sufficient

familiedag in het Koetshoes...prima, maar helaas niet helemaal. Van te voren gebeld of het geschikt was voor een scootmobiel. Dat zou geen enkel probleem zijn, dus gingen we mee. Gelukkig dat degene in de scoot kleine stukjes kan lopen, maar een scootmobiel daar is geen optie. Vanaf de terraskant is er een helling die vol met gaten zit en onderaan een grote steen. Vervolgens kom je in de losse kiezel terecht.... Toiletbezoek? Helemaal niet mogelijk, want dan moet je een steile trap op (vanaf het terras) of van de andere kant door een zeer smalle opening met een paar flinke opstappen.... Niet alles hoeft van ons rolstoel- en scootvriendelijk te zijn, maar lieg er dan niet over aan de telefoon!!! Er zijn ook mensen die niet kleine stukje kunnen lopen en echt in een rolstoel of scoot moeten blijven. We hebben het leuk gehad met onze familie, maar dit zijn leugens die eigenlijk echt niet kunnen. Vandaar slechts een matige beoordeling

Very cozy tavern in a unique location with excellent food and drinks and friendly staff.

What a wonderful, historic place to sit on a terrace under the trees, half in the sun, enjoying the many birds and the babbling sound of the Geul in the background. Children can play endlessly in the large playground with many play equipment. There is plenty of delicious Burgundian food available. There are plenty of specialty beers available on tap and the staff is friendly. Inside it feels a bit cramped and dark, but even when it rains you can still sit outside under the canopies. To be repeated!

Top place, top service and top food! Top top top. We had dinner here with our 1.5 year old son. Nice place for parents with children. Play area around the corner for all ages and really delicious food for the kids and parents. We ordered an omelette for our son for dinner, which would normally not be possible given the time. Very nice that they went along with it without a doubt. Thanks for the evening!

Toevallig bij deze brasserie terechtgekomen. Binnen is het zeer klein om te zitten,maar buiten is er een overdekte challet. Hier zijn ook de nodige vuurtjes voorzien voor een aangename warmte. De kaart is niet superuitgebreid maar de gerechten zijn qua prijs/kwaliteit prima. De koershoesburger is zeker een aanrader. Achter de brasserie ligt een afgesloten speeltuin. De kinderen kunnen hier dus naar hartelust spelen

Really delicious shrimp croquettes! Those were great. Cheese croquettes were also tasty. Had to wait a while before we were served.

After a walk to the Gerendal Orchid Garden, we opted to have lunch at 't Koetshoes where we parked our cars at the nearby car park. This was a good place to enjoy a drink and some lunch after our walk. The restaurant has good-size terrace, plenty of menu choices, friendly staff and our tasty lunch made it to the table within half an hour of ordering. We have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant to anyone interested. Also, the restaurant has a good-size and fenced off playground for little ones which makes it ideal for families with younger children.

Nice surprising place just outside the center of Valkenburg. It's also worth taking a look inside (you'll have to dust everything 😉). Outside there is a spacious terrace with a playground. As a result, there is a considerable presence of children. The food is excellent and the service is pleasant but also professional, without being pushy. Nice base for a beautiful walk along the Geul or a detour to De Kluis. Recommended!

Nice food, place is bit dark and could have more uplift

We had a beautiful day so everything is often great! So here too, nice atmosphere, friendly service, cozy and green environment, GLUTEN-FREE options on the menu, allergens pointer at the back of the menu. And the icing on the cake is a large (outdoor) playground for the kids!!!

Recommended if you don't want to be in the hustle and bustle of the center! nice atmosphere and food was excellent!

Delicious food in a cozy tavern. It's not big, but that's why it's so cozy. There is so much to see and experience inside that you won't get bored. From old cowbells, beer mugs to ladles and other kitchen utensils. It's as if I went back in time, nostalgia and recognition. Food (Greek platter and pickled meat) was excellent, friendly and good service, served quickly and it was the Dutch evening in terms of music, you could unknowingly sing along between meals. Definitely worth arriving and having something to eat.

Had a delicious lunch during a nice walk. Sat outside under the canopy. It was very busy, so it took a little longer and the service was a bit mixed up. All in all, a delicious lunch. The 12 o'clock meal is highly recommended, soup, generously filled bread with bouncer, croquette and salad.

A place you don't see often anymore. Not an inch on the wall where white can be seen. Good atmosphere and tasty food.

Top location, lovely terrace with the shade of trees!

Heerlijke stop als onderdeel van de amuse rondwandeling door Valkenburg. Perfect broodje! Wel veel prikkels in het betrekkelijk compacte cafe gedeelte. Geen plekje op de muur meer vrij. Maar wel topgezellig!

Wat een bijzondere plaats. Terug in de tijd. De goede oude tijd. Fantastisch daar!

Een bijzonder, intiem cafeetje wat een aparte, leuke sfeer ademt.

Stap hier binnen en je word jaren terug in de tijd geworpen! Je snuift de nostalgie, onder een vol plafond en afgeladen wanden met teksten, afbeeldingen en voorwerpen van weleer. Zo een tentje waarvan je twijfelt of ie wel open is, bij passeren. Maar binnen is het levendig, druk, een beetje donker en hier en daar wat krap. Buiten is er nog een 'natuurlijk' terras, mocht je wat meer ruimte willen. Op deze dag koos ik er voor om na het fietsen even op te warmen. Het was wat lang wachten op de gezellige bediening, maar in zo'n hectische omgeving maak je de tijd wel vol.

Tijdens een grote wandeling hier halte gehouden om iets te gaan drinken, je komt binnen in een kleine PUB en daarnaast staat een grote tent aansluitend met veel tafels en warmte stralers en met gezellige attributen ingericht en leuke historische muziek van vroeger. Desondanks dat we helemaal achteraan in de tent zaten werd er al heel snel onze bestelling opgenomen, super vriendelijke bediening, top! Buiten naast de tent is er ook een vrij grote speeltuin voorzien.

Ordered the 'Broodje zalm' which suggests is a small bread bun. For 9 euro's that would have been on the expensive side but not unreasonable. I was surprised when this large bun with a huge share of smoked salmon appeared, very tasty too! Wide range of beers nothing special but certainly something there for everyone. I recommend the Brand Weize 0.0 if you're on a non-alcoholic visit. Service was quick and efficient.

Leuke locatie en oke eten. Personeel was niet heel hartelijk.

Mooie speeltuin voor de kids. Prima plekje met mooi terras. Alleen heel jammer van de muziekkeuze. Die past totaal niet bij het tijdstip en de gemiddelde leeftijd van de gasten...

Mijn favoriete plek, zo mooi aan de Geul. Top bediening met 30 graden nog zoveel best doen. Wat een gastvrijheid

Leuke taverne. Lekker eten en goede porties. Wel erg druk waardoor het personeel niet altijd doorheeft dat je glas alweer leeg is. Personeel super vriendelijk en hele goede sfeer. Je kunt hier lekker beschut buiten zitten. Voor kinderen een aangrenzende speeltuin met voldoende speeltoestellen.

Hier gestopt om een wijntje te drinken, mooi lommerijk terras, geen poespas, snelle bediening. Heel veel bomen, prachtig oud pand en erachter nog een grote (betaalde) speeltuin. Wij komen terug!

Leuke gezellige plek voor herrlijk bijkomen na een zware bui. Vriendelijk en betaalbaar.
