Super delicious and cozy Ethiopian food! Vegetarian and gluten free options were amazing.

Great place to experience Ethiopian food. Very friendly service, great food and nice atmosphere. In the beginning the music was as a bit too loud but they no problem in putting it a notch down. The amount of food was so much, we had to ask for a doggy bag.

We had the most delicious meal. Wonderful, spicy kitfo lebleb, an amazing vegetarian pumpkin dish, both accompanied by five side dishes and of course enjara. We highly recommend this restaurant. The service is really kind, don’t miss this place if you like Ethiopian food or would like to try it. You won’t regret it!

I always order from them because I really love their food! I’ve tried many Ethiopian restaurants in Amsterdam, but Axum has become my favorite. The dishes are so flavorful and the portions are generous. Last time, I also tried “tej” and really enjoyed it. I’ll definitely keep ordering from them and highly recommend it to anyone who wants to experience authentic Ethiopian cuisine!

While not downright horrible, the food and service are so far behind Fenan Klein, that even though Axum is just around the corner and so I wanted to give it a try, I prefer to bike to Overtoom for 5 stats Ethiopian food

It was my second visit to this restaurant and I witnessed that the workers, like all other Ethiopian and Eritrean restaurants, despise people from Ethiopia and Eritrea. The waiter asked me to carry the menu upstairs instead of bringing it; they delivered what I didn’t order, but I just kept going with it, the restaurant was not busy but I finished my food without no one asking me. As someone raised eating the food, I know it was not fresh and was a re-heated left over food. The price is also clearly unfair, given the food and their services. Like all other restaurants, they run to white people, whom they can fool because they don’t know the food, and have no respect to their own people. DISRESPECTFUL AND DISGUSTING TO SEE I SWEAR.

Best place I've ever had Ethiopian food, and I've eaten almost everywhere in the city. The doro wot and kitfo tasted authentic, and the owner is very friendly. Truly the best place in Amsterdam for me. I'll definitely be back.

Great food, super nice service. Tried the vegetarian meal and the tegamino. Both really tasty, spicy but not exaggerated, big portions. Atmosphere is basic (could serve some attention to furniture/ decoration) but if you are looking for a genuine place to eat good food, this is the one.

Cozy restaurant and friendly atmosphere. You have to love the food, but they certainly did their best. Close to a metro station so very convenient.

First time in an Etiopian restaurant and i must say that it was a nice experience! The girl working at the register/tables is super sweet and kind and the restaurant is pretty cozy and family friendly. The plate we ordered was huge and in 6 people we were not able to finish everything. The quality of the food was good and the taste pretty new to me. I enjoyed being there and i can surely suggest it to other people.

Wel komen zeker terug! Maar wel even een time out dan is het de volgende keer weer groot feest om daar te genieten.

Ontzettend lekker gegeten in een gezellige, huiselijke sfeer!

Eten was heerlijk! Bediening erg vriendelijk en goed. Het was wel eventjes wachten, dus ga hier niet heen voor een snelle hap. Maar het was zo lekker dat het het wachten meer dan waard was!

Heerlijke warme ervaring alsof je bij mensen thuis zit. Erg lekker gegeten en lieve bediening. Fijne ervaring rijker.

A small family-feel restaurant, a very personal experience, amazing food, fantastic presentation, very friendly staff. Overall an absolute delight! Putting together an order takes a while, you should have at least an hour and a half to enjoy it.

Waiting for a very long time for everything you order (this was even the case when ordering one single beer: took around 20 minutes). Furthermore, 1 bottle of sparkling water will cost you € 9. The food is okay, but everything together we had a bad experience!

Gisteren zijn we voor het eerst in Taytu geweest, het was onze eerste ervaring met de Ethiopische keuken, en we zullen zeker nog eens terugkomen! Ikzelf had het speciale menu welke geserveerd werd op de Teff pannenkoekjes, mijn vrouw had de Yeshekla tibs besteld. Het was allemaal verrukkelijk, hele speciale smaken en combinaties die we niet eerder hadden geproefd. De salade met onder andere rode biet als voorgerecht was ook erg goed. De bediening was erg vriendelijk. Kortom, zeer de moeite waard, en tot een volgende keer :-)

We hadden al eens eerder Ethiopisch gegeten, dus wisten al wat ons te wachten stond, maar het eten overtrof al onze verwachtingen. Ik had de vis en mijn partner de steak tartare, alles was even mals en goed verzorgd. Het werd samen op een grote schaal geserveerd in schaaltjes, heel gezellig. Ik las over de bediening dat die niet erg professioneel is; dat is zo, maar dat maakt dit restaurant juist zo charmant. Het is volgens mij een familiebedrijf. Echt een aanrader

Amazing food, the flavours, the portion size, the drinks, highly recommend. I'd never had Ethiopian / Eritrean food before but I will be going back for sure. It's well priced too. Service was sloooow but still worth it. Just keep the honey beers flowing and you'll be fine!

Ik had op 1 september een tafel gereserveerd en werd bij aankomst onaangenaam verrast door een briefje op de deur met de mededeling dat ze in verband met onderhoud gesloten waren. Daarna 2x gemaild en vandaag nog langsgefietst om te vragen hoe ze hier mee omgaan. Schouders ophalen, kan gebeuren, nog een keer proberen te mailen... dat lijkt me niet. Kortom: vreselijk slechte klantenservice

Heerlijk gegeten, wachten op je eten is het waard! Het wordt namelijk vers bereid. Hele lieve hardwerkende serveerster hadden we, dacht mee en kon het eea vertellen. Echt een aanrader!

I am Ethiopian and can tell you that the food was absolutely excellent and authentic. Service definitely was lacking. They’re short staffed, and communication was poor. They didn’t have some of the main dish I went there for but what they did eventually serve was absolutely delicious. I recommend they work on customer service and invest in Air conditioning because it was awfully hot inside but everything about the taste was on point so I gave a 5-star

Ordered two dishes for takeout, and the food was phenomenal. Staff was willing to talk through allergies, we received our dishes quicker than expected, and it tasted absolutely wonderful. I highly recommend this restaurant!

Notre expérience a été mitigé. Le service était vraiment mauvais, attente très longue (même pour obtenir la carte) malgré un cadre sympathique. La nourriture était bonne mais petites quantités

Nog niet eerder in een Ethiopisch restaurant geweest. Het eten wordt op een enorm groot bord geserveerd, daar eet je met z’n allen van. Eten smaakt goed en leuk om een keer te doen.

Solo por el lado negativo, fue un poco lento. Además, para alguien en un restaurante etíope por primera vez, el menú es un poco confuso. De lo contrario, la comida era sabrosa. Me caigo de mi amigo vegetariano
