Simply a solid, good burger. 🍔 Not the best for me, but that's no big deal. There are so many burgers around these days, after all. So, for a solid and tasty everyday burger, just pop in and enjoy! 😌

Passing through Amsterdam for a few days, we first went for a drink and then the next day for lunch. A very warm welcome, smiling and attentive staff despite our limited English. The cocktails were excellent and the burgers were delicious!

Really good burgers. I usually go without reservations and mostly they’re helpful. I love their small buns, I even craved them when i was pregnant.

Great hamburger with plenty of meat. Could use a bit more beer on tap. In the men's restroom, the dryer is too close to the tap, so you can't wash your hands without the Dyson blasting off.

The hamburger was good. We went as a couple and wanted to pay separately. They said they couldn't split the bill and couldn't take separate payments. We didn't like that.

Delicious burger and fries. Polite waiters. Good atmosphere. Excellent location. Why two stars? I asked for a glass of water, and the waiter told me that I need to pay for a drink first, only then they can give me tap water. Lemonade is 7 euros, bottle of water is 7.5, bottle of small coke is 6. I refuse to pay such high prices for drinks, so I didn’t order one. And they let me eat without giving me a glass of water. Water is a basic human right, and every restaurant should provide it free of charge. If the greedy restaurant owners decide to take a humanistic step forward and start serving tap water, I am happy to move my rating to 5 stars.

My family had a great experience here. We were staying at the attached hotel and were looking for a quick evening meal. The service was great and very prompt. I had the limited edition "El Chapo" burger which was very tasty. There were perhaps a few too many competing toppings but the overall flavour was good. Our party also had the classic burger which was very fresh and flavourful. My daughter's mocktail did have an excessive amount of ice with very little actual drink. My wife's lychee cocktail was out of this world and felt like good value. Overall it was an enjoyable experience. As an aside, for those who complained about the "small, bottom of the bag" fries, they are delicious, fresh cut fries. I'm sorry, but when your get a fresh cut potato, you get the large and small! UPDATE: on my way out, I mentioned the great food and servuce to our server. She said they are under new management and very aware of the poor reviews regarding service, wait times and food quality. In my opinion, they are moving in the right direction.

I've never eaten such a bad burger at such a high price. It took an hour to arrive and it was cold. I don't know where they got the awards they claim to have.

Terrible experience, it seems that it's going to be a really good burger but they are just like any other burgers. But the problem resided in us waiting a whole hour to get our food cold and dry. Really bad price-quality food if you are looking for something to eat.

We tried Ter Marsch three times. The first time was awesome. The other two times was below average. Burgers were cooked properly but the bun was at least 3 days old. They tried toasting it. I don’t have an issue with a toasted bun but at least ask me if I was prefer it that way. I also had to remove the garnish. It wasn’t a terrible experience I have to say. Update: 09/07/2026 Went from three stars to 1!! ⭐☆☆☆☆ This was our third visit to Ter Marsch, and unfortunately it will be our last. The experience started with the drinks. I ordered the Citrus Smash, while my wife ordered the red cocktail listed directly above it on the menu. Both were disappointing—poorly balanced, lacking flavour, and certainly not what we’d expect from a restaurant with Ter Marsch’s reputation. The biggest issue, however, was the service and how our concerns were handled. My wife ordered a dish that was described as containing fluffy scrambled eggs. There were no fluffy scrambled eggs on the plate—what arrived looked nothing like the description. When we politely raised this with our waiter, she repeatedly insisted that the eggs were there instead of taking the time to understand why we were dissatisfied. The manager was then called over, and rather than acknowledging our concern or even considering that the kitchen may have made an error, she immediately defended the dish, stating it was prepared according to their standards. She then proceeded to tell us about the awards the restaurant has won. Respectfully, when a customer raises a genuine concern, the last thing they want to hear is a list of accolades. Awards don’t improve the experience sitting in front of you. Listening, showing empathy, and taking ownership do. To make matters worse, even the famous fries were disappointing—mostly small broken pieces that looked like the bottom of the bag. Everyone can have an off day in the kitchen. That’s understandable. What isn’t acceptable is a complete refusal to acknowledge the possibility that something wasn’t right. Look at the photos and tell me where you see “fluffy” scramble egg!!! After three visits, we’ve given Ter Marsch enough chances. Sadly, we won’t be returning.

We made a quick stop at Ter Marsch & Co Amsterdam for a relaxing break after exploring the nearby flower market. My husband enjoyed a cold beer while I ordered a refreshing elderflower lemonade. It was the perfect place to rest our feet, soak in the atmosphere, and people-watch for a bit. The vibe was quaint and welcoming with good music and a great location just steps from the flower market. A nice spot to pause and recharge before continuing to explore Amsterdam. 🍻🌸

The Gojira is probably the best Burger if ever had.

I popped in for a cocktail, I finished it only to discover it was about 90% ice. No exaggeration — the photo was taken after I finished the drink and the glass was still packed with ice. At €13 a cocktail, I expect a bit more value. I understand bars need to make money, but serving a drink with so little actual cocktail leaves me wondering where else corners might be getting cut.

Excellent service! Super fast, friendly, and the food was very good! I was disappointed with the cheesecake as it wasn't what I expected; it barely tasted of lemon.

We had the chicken burger. Average taste. Service is very slow. One waitress and maybe one staff in the kitchen during rush hour. Bar tender was very rude. Would not visit again.

Tried the royal dutch recently and came away pretty disappointed. I’m probably a bit more demanding than the average person when it comes to burgers as I make a point of trying good burger spots. I’ve had some genuinely incredible burgers around the world, so I was excited to try one that carries this kind of reputation. The patty was overcooked, the bun was dry, and somehow the burger still ended up feeling overly wet overall. More than that, the ingredients just didn’t really come together. Every component felt separate instead of building one balanced bite as it should be. I don’t mind creative burgers at all, but the fundamentals still need to be there first. Especially at this price point and with the kind of reputation this burger has. In the end it just felt surprisingly poorly executed. Not memorable for the right reasons, and definitely far below what I expected from a burger that’s supposed to stand out in the Dutch burger scene.

Whoever gave them the “best burger” award must have lost their sense of taste, there are far better burger places in the area . They have really overhyped themselves, the place is honestly below average.

A really lovely restaurant, a charming and welcoming atmosphere, friendly staff, and what can I say about the food? Simply excellent! The Black Angus burger and fries were superb, especially the sweet potato ones. The salmon and avocado brioche is to die for (served until 4 pm). In short, it was excellent! I highly recommend it. €115 for 4 adults, including 4 main courses, 4 drinks, and 1 dessert.

Brazilians, this review is for you: if you're desperately hungry, order the truffle fries. They're good! The hamburgers are awful, not worth the conversion from Brazilian Real to Euro. They even charge extra for ketchup and the patties are very thick. That said, if you're really desperate and don't mind spending a lot of money on something mediocre to bad, eat there knowing that I warned you.

Edit:this place has a new manager and I am very pleased with this person. He is warm, friendly and helpful. Does his best to make customers feel welcome and at home and also seems to be very pleasant to the other members of staff. The shop has done an 180 with this manager and it has made my old review more or less redundant. Burgers are and always been good. My fav is the gojira. Two small burgers with pulled pork on cute little bao buns. Please, visit this place. Have a burger and a ginger beer. Say hi to the manager. Enjoy. I went to Ter Marsch in Rotterdam yesterday, I sometimes go there and the staff are really friendly. Went to the one Utrecht once and had the same experience. But this place, I don't know man. Sat down at two and ordered a drink and a burger. Ten minutes later other people sat down. They ordered drinks. Two minutes later they had them. I didn't have mine yet. I asked the waiter. He said his colleague would bring it. A minute later he steps out again with drinks for another table ... not mine. At 2.20 mine arrived. At 2.30 I finally had my burger. At 3 o'clock nobody had asked how the food was or whether I wanted another drink, but the bartender came up (I expected him to ask after the food and if I wanted another drink) and asked me if I could please sit somewhere else as my smoking was rather bothersome. I have never had these problems in Rotterdam and it makes me hesitant to go there again as I am not at all satisfied with this. He didn't make me pay for the drink even though I offered to let me pay as I don't want to be a freeloader. Nice gesture on his part but it does not change anything. I suggest you visit the one in Rotterdam if you want to taste the Ter Marsch burgers.

Pretty disappointing experience for us, our chicken sandwich and burger were fine but not enjoyable. I was given en the wrong sauce for my fries. I understand that in Europe it is common to flag down the waiter, but it was so impossible to get in someone's line of sight that the people at the table next to us had to step in and help us to get the check. We ended up not eating most of our food because it wasn't very good and left upset

Loved this bar and the food was fab. We asked a bar person a question and before he could answer a manager tore into him in front of us. I didn't like seeing her speak to another person in that way so that upset us. But apart from that the staff were lovely.

You know, this is a place that offers great 20 euro burgers. Unfortunately, the service we received makes us never want to go back. We received prompt service and sat down but it took twenty minutes before anyone paid us any attention. We had to switch tables to actually be helped and almost as long to place our orders. The food was good and they even had a vegetarian option for the burgers but you have to pay extra for fries if you want some. I wouldn't recommend this place at all. Felt just like all of the other tourist traps in the area.

The music was far too loud, making it impossible to have a proper conversation. The service was good, but hectic. The chairs were uncomfortable, and eating in the seating areas was nearly impossible. The atmosphere was far too colorful and, above all, very rushed, as the door to the flower market was constantly opening and closing.

Worst burger ever, we had The Dutch Royal Burger, Classic Cheeseburger, Fries . Burgers tasteless and overrated. Nothing special about fries. Better not to add here your Amsterdam visit list.

The place looks good but I was expecting more since the burgers are awarded and the prices are a little bit above for a burger. I got the Holy Moly but the meatball was like elastic and didin't taste so well.

This place has a great atmosphere. Despite the crowds and the music, you can still have a good conversation. The staff was friendly, though sometimes a bit too hasty in clearing things off the table. For food, we had the classic burger, cheeseburger, and sweet potato fries. Overall, very disappointing. Everything looked good, but lacked flavor. The buns were dry, and so were the burgers. On the plus side, the fries were crispy, and the food was delivered quickly. The cocktails were okay, but there was no alcohol. You get very little for your money.

Visited Ter Marsch & Co at the Flowermarket location and really enjoyed the lively atmosphere. The burgers were fresh and well prepared, and the staff created a welcoming vibe. Great spot if you’re in the city centre and looking for quality food.

Beautiful floral decor! It reflects the flower market right outside! Perfect for a break from the hustle and bustle! Service is fast and friendly. Drinks arrived within 5 minutes, and burgers followed within 15. The food was top-notch, and the service was fast and attentive. We had some lovely conversations, and I'll definitely be back to escape the crowds again!

This restaurant is well-located in Amsterdam near the flower market. I particularly enjoyed the chicken burger with curry sauce. It was very original and high-quality. The fries arrived piping hot and served with a delicious mayonnaise. We also tried the crispy chicken as a starter, and the tenders were very tasty. Our only complaint is the price (nearly €10) for just four pieces. The cocktails were also very good. A good place overall, though perhaps a little pricey considering the quality of the menu.

A great option for stopping and refueling before continuing your stroll through the streets of Amsterdam. The food is very flavorful (although the portions of some dishes are a bit small). Recommended by a friend who lived in Amsterdam, so we decided to give it a try even though I’m not really a big meat eater (my partner and son are!). Service was on point, friendly, attentive, and efficient. I had the chicken burger, which was good but not something I’d call amazing, while they both really enjoyed their beef burgers. The music was great and the place itself is stylish and lively, making it a nice spot to hang out.

I don’t know what you’re selling for a milkshake but this isn’t it. Way too runny and not creamy at all. Also too much nuts on everything. If i order fries i don’t wanna get cereals. Wouldn’t recommend

Busy, limited menu for a restaurant belonging to an NH hotel. Service was reasonable. I was in the lobby and had to carry my own order from the restaurant through the swinging doors to the lobby.

The burger wasn't good, the fries weren't good either; the food was bad. There's a McDonald's across the street that's much better. The service and the location were fine, but they're not to blame for the terrible food.

Absolutely disappointing. Coming to a country famous for waffles, I ordered a chicken waffle and was served a toasted croissant shaped like a waffle instead. When I pointed it out, they completely denied it. I’ve eaten both waffles and croissants my entire life—I know the difference. This was misleading and honestly a waste of money.

Came for lunch a couple of times while staying at the hotel so very convenient. Burgers are spectacular as are the Fries of Mine fries. If you drink beer, give Dancing Dolly a go. I liked it! Went very well with the burgers.

Me and my friend visited Ter Marsch & Co today. The food was amazing, really nice burgers and fries. I had the special burger, which was super yummy, and the truffle fries were delicious too. The elderflower lemonade was also really refreshing. Everything was going great until it came time to ask for the bill. We waited around 15 minutes after asking before it arrived. I even caught the waitress’s eye before she remembered, and she looked quite sulky and unhappy when she finally brought it over. We asked to split the bill, and she left us to work it out ourselves, taking another 5–10 minutes to come back. When the bill arrived, we noticed an extra charge for sauces, one mayonnaise and one sriracha, which we hadn’t been told about. If we’d known there was an extra cost, we wouldn’t have ordered them. I checked the menu and there was no mention of a charge for sauces. When we asked about it, the waitress seemed annoyed and went to get the manager. From the moment he approached, his attitude was rude and dismissive. We explained the situation, and he simply asked if we’d eaten all of the dip. When we said yes, he told us we had to pay for it. We tried to explain that it wasn’t about the cost, it was about not being informed, but he was extremely unprofessional. He eventually took the charge off, but made a sarcastic comment about how “€3 is so cheap and we can’t pay it.” The food was genuinely great, but the poor service and rude management completely ruined the experience. It’s such a shame because the kitchen team clearly know what they’re doing, but the front-of-house staff and management seriously let the place down. I won’t be recommending this restaurant to anyone.
