The pad Thai was too sweet and sticky, lacking any fresh acidity. The green curry had little spice and tasted mostly of coconut cream. Not bad, but not at all exciting either.

At Bangkok Laren, everything is perfect. Sharina and Zue are top-notch staff: professional, calm, and service-oriented, even during busy times. They keep everything under control and make you feel truly welcome. The food quality is consistently high. Dishes are well-seasoned, distinctive, and always prepared consistently. The cashew chicken is delicious, especially paired with the homemade sambal, and the chicken satay is also excellent. Portions are well-balanced, and the presentation is impeccable. This inspires confidence and makes you want to return.

For years, I loved going to Bangkok in Laren. Often with a good friend, we always ordered generously and tipped generously. The staff didn't know our names, but they did recognize us. That felt familiar and kept me coming back. A few weeks ago, I had a reservation for two at 7 p.m. on a Friday. I arrived on time and was promptly shown to my table. My friend hadn't arrived yet. Ten minutes passed. Twenty. Half an hour. I tried calling him several times, but to no avail. Later, it turned out he'd dozed off at home and didn't wake up until two hours later. Of course, I didn't know that at the time, so I just did my best to wait politely and handle the situation as best I could. I ordered a drink and stayed calm. While waiting, I noticed the woman at the cash register giving me looks that felt unfriendly. It seemed like she was irritated, even though I couldn't do anything about the situation. After about half an hour, she came over to me and said: "Yeah, he's still not here." You're holding a table now. That comment felt disrespectful and condescending. I was so hurt by it that I decided to pay for my drink and leave. While paying, I received another comment: "But you shouldn't feel bad about suddenly leaving now." First, a rude comment, then a pretense of welcome. That felt like a slap in the face. I find this way of treating guests unacceptable. You should treat people with respect, especially regulars who always order generously and pay generously. Here, it felt like as a guest, you just have to sit down, eat, pay, and quickly leave. For me, this chapter is now closed. Bangkok in Laren is a thing of the past, and I will never return.

It's always pleasantly busy, which, in my opinion, is a good thing, as you know the food is always fresh. It might be a bit pricey, but if you're going to complain about that, you should just go to McDonald's or cook at home. It's always delicious here. Besides all that, the staff is incredibly friendly! We always come here, top-notch top-notch!

Really bad! It used to be much better

The curry is delicious and just the right amount of spice, truly authentic Thai. The Pad Thai can sometimes be a bit too sweet.

The food is okay. The chicken cashew was really salty or had too much fat. The beef curry with peanut and coconut milk was delicious. The service was unfriendly. No greetings upon arrival or departure. The staff didn't check in between to see if everything was to your liking or if you needed any drinks, etc. This is why I'm giving it one star. You guys can definitely do better!

2 bowls of rice 1 bowl of chicken 1 bowl of beef 1 bowl of vegetables 1 small bowl of pad Thai This, for 95 euros, is quite expensive. Small portions, and the taste wasn't particularly special. Takeout portions have been halved. Soup is now sold as a half-portion and filled with mushrooms. Chicken soup has almost no chicken left, and the shrimp soup that used to have only 3 shrimp is now only 2 shrimp per soup! That shouldn't be called shrimp soup!! The ingredients are no longer fresh. We're not used to this; we've been getting ours here for years, but we won't be going back. Oh, my.

The green curry had just the right balance of spicy and creamy. Fresh vegetables, tender chicken, and fragrant jasmine rice accompanied it. The staff politely asked if I wanted the curry mild, medium, or spicy, which I found very thoughtful. Very flavorful and authentic.

Very friendly and pleasant service, but we were disappointed with the various dishes. The starters and soup were tasty. Unfortunately, the various chicken dishes tasted "too similar." Also, the dish with large shrimp and squid unfortunately only had two shrimp, even though we were a party of four and expected at least four large shrimp. An oversight.

I've been a regular at Bangkok Amsterdam since the 90s and have often picked up takeout food in Laren in recent years. However, after being charged an extra €4.95 today for a single plastic container and plastic cutlery, I was completely taken aback. I find it absolutely outrageous that they're now trying to squeeze extra money out of everyone, and the service they offer is completely irrelevant. You're going to lose plenty of customers because of this.

Today I went here for dinner with a few friends. The food was extremely bad! First of all, the chicken dishes had a nasty aftertaste, it seemed spoiled. Furthermore, the food was very spicy and dry. I went to eat at this restaurant with my family and son. My son ordered the “spicy beef with soy sauce”, but what he got looked more like a kind of soup with pieces of meat in it. The dish was also not tasty at all. We politely reported this to the owner, but she reacted downright rude and refused to take the dish back or think along with us. No understanding at all, just a rude and unfriendly attitude. Really scandalous! I even made a video of the dish, so that others can see what was served. (En wij dus nog een portie bij moesten bestellen.) Ook was het personeel erg haastig.. Haastig met glazen en borden wegnemen etc..totaal niet relaxed. Leek wel speed- diner. Ook was het erg rumoerig. Onrustige sfeer...

Bangkok in Laren – a huge Thai surprise I went out for dinner at Restaurant Bangkok in Laren. “Bangkok,” I thought, “that's far away.” But no, it was just in Laren, nice and close. Well, relatively close, if you compare it to Thailand. I stepped inside and immediately felt… yes, how do you say… warmth. Not only of the kitchen, but also of the people. Jennifer and Roy rule the roost here, and they do so with a smile that instantly makes you hungry. It smells wonderful, like herbs that you don't just find in the supermarket, and like something... something exciting, something that you don't know yet, but that you know is tasty. The great doubt Then comes the menu. That is a moment when you take a deep breath. Because what to choose? Everything sounds like you have to taste it. And I'm just one person. But hey, I'm brave. I start with the Yam Gai Douw. That's a salad with fried egg, red onion, shallots, coriander and lime juice. And let me tell you... that lime juice, it does something to a person. It gives a fresh boost as if you were suddenly standing in a summer breeze. Then the main course came. Fried chicken with cashew nuts. The kind of dish you want to marry. The chicken is tender, the cashew nuts are crunchy and that sauce… that sauce! Sweet, savory, just right. I also tasted a bite of the fried fish fillet in tamarind sauce, and if that fish could talk, it would have said: “Stay a while.” The curry you won't forget My tablemate had the green curry. You take a bite, and suddenly you are in Thailand. Well, in your head then. The herbs dance the cha-cha on your tongue, a little spicy, a little creamy, and with a touch of magic. A curry as a curry is meant to be. And you know what's so beautiful? The cook, Poo, cooks with a passion as if every day were a holiday. And you can taste that. Writing this review after my third vomit, diarrhea!!!! It made me so sick. Found the atmosphere extremely unfriendly from the blonde waitress, the owner Thai woman was also so unfriendly. I sent something back to the kitchen and I got it exactly as it was, it was ice cold!

The food itself was tasty. But the whole atmosphere and bad service is not worth coming. Price-quality ratio is bad! The woman who works there has a very arrogant unfriendly attitude! What an atmosphere ruiner of the evening.

Yesterday we had dinner at Bangkok in Laren. The food was overly salted and therefore barely edible. When we spoke to the owner about this, we were met with arrogance and unprofessional responses, which only made the situation worse. As a regular customer I always had a good impression of Bangkok Laren, but this visit was downright disappointing. I was with five cousins, when we tasted the food, the food was extremely salty. We immediately reported this to the staff, and an employee indicated that this is a frequently heard complaint. After a difficult discussion about how to solve the problem, without reaching a solution, we asked for the bill. To our surprise, almost all dishes were included, with only one exception. We were willing to pay, but only for what we had actually eaten and drunk. Since the food was so salty, we could hardly have eaten any of this. What made this situation even more distressing was the way we were treated by the staff. The employees were unfriendly and unprofessional. At one point a Dutch man who works there came and banged his hand on the table in an intimidating manner and shouted: “And now it's DONE! You MUST pay!” This behavior felt threatening and completely inappropriate. This experience shocked me, and I would not recommend anyone to eat here again.

I am a regular customer at Bangkok Amsterdam and expected the Laren branch to offer the same quality and service. Unfortunately, my experience here was downright bad. From the moment I walked in I was treated unfriendly by the staff. There was no greeting, no smile, and I felt like I was a burden rather than a guest. The service was slow and disinterested, and when I finally got my order, the food was not up to the standard I have come to expect from Bangkok. What bothered me most was the attitude of the owners. When I politely asked about my order, I was rudely turned away, with pure disinterest. This is absolutely unacceptable, especially for a restaurant called Bangkok. I will never come back to Bangkok Laren and advise others to spend their money elsewhere. If this branch doesn't do something about the service soon, they will lose a lot of customers.

Delicious food, but a shame that you can only sit for an hour and a half. We felt like we were eating under pressure. A plate with 2 fish cakes on it was cleared in front of us while we were still eating. Very unfortunate because the food is really tasty, but you can't have a nice chill dinner, so to speak.

At Bangkok Laren we had a culinary experience that is unparalleled. The food was excellent and without a doubt the most authentic Thai food we have ever tasted in the Netherlands. Although the restaurant was very busy and we had to wait 30 minutes for a table despite our reservation, which we experienced as less pleasant, the excellent quality of the food more than made up for this. The limited choice of wine types and virgin cocktails was a minor concern, but we ate our way through the sublime dishes and left the restaurant more than satisfied. Bangkok Laren is definitely recommended for lovers of authentic Thai cuisine, and we will definitely come back!

If you order chicken with vegetables in a sweet and sour sauce here, you literally get “Chicken Tonight” from a jar for which you pay a lot. Overrated, overhyped. How can you claim halal if you serve pork? Big 0!

Unfriendly staff and small portions for a lot of money.

Unfortunately had a disappointing experience. We had to wait far too long for a table, even though several tables seemed to be empty. The staff was not friendly and seemed disinterested. The overall atmosphere was awkward and it didn't feel inviting. Definitely not recommended if you are looking for a hospitable and pleasant evening.

Very disappointing experience at Bangkok Restaurant in Laren. The staff, especially a blond, plump woman, was incredibly unfriendly and seemed completely unable to cope with the crowds. We had to wait a very long time, and when the food finally came, it was of very poor quality. To make matters worse, I got a stomach ache after the meal and am now sick in bed. This is definitely not a place I will ever return to, and I strongly discourage others from eating here.

Went again last night for the 2nd time for a bite to eat and my experience was less than the first time. We sat next to a young couple who spoke really loudly in the most anti-social tone. Everything except throw lazy. You're really close to each other when you're not sitting on the benches. You hear all the conversations around you and therefore simply cannot enjoy your food. You have difficulty fitting the table to get to your seat. Actually it's just too full. I really understand that every chair generates turnover, but just remove 2 tables and people's experience will skyrocket. You can read many complaints about this in the reviews. I will only come back if I have a normal seat. I ask this in advance because this was really terrible. Everything was delicious again, except for the fried noodles, which smelled stale and like cat food. This is not meant to be rude, but with every bite we had to laugh because you could smell wet cat food. Could be due to a herb or something, but I don't take that anymore. We didn't think so. Further on and on. Service great and the tastiest satay sauce ever!!!! Price tag is really on its way. It's really not cheap and the portions aren't generous either. Apart from the busy restaurant, it really is a top restaurant.

Zaak ziet er mooi uit en het eten is lekker. Echter zitten gasten naast je met vol geluid aan filmpjes te kijken en te bellen waardoor het enorm ongemakkelijk en ongezellig is hier te dineren. Hierdoor zijn wij onvrijwillig eerder vertrokken en wilden we het eten, waar we nauwelijks van hadden gegeten, mee naar huis nemen. Echter had de keuken deze door interne miscommunicatie weggegooid en werden we in geen enkele manier gecompenseerd. Bij thuiskomst telefonisch nog contact gezocht en mijn contactgegevens achtergelaten waarop ze het intern zouden bespreken maar nooit meer iets hebben laten weten.

The restaurant is easy reachable by car, and has plenty of parking spots in front of the restaurant. During the weekend I highly recommend to make a reservation. The food is delicious! I can highly recommend the chicken with cashewnuts together with the fried rice. As a starter the 3 chicken snacks that you can share with another person. The service was excellent, very attentive, kind, professional and quick in taking our order, serving the drinks and food. There are plenty of vegetarian options. The desserts can be upgraded, not particularly good. Constructive advice: add a chocolate lava cake to your dessert menu, with a side of strawberries and blueberries. Will definitely return in future, thanks guys for the lovely evening!

Restaurant Bangkok Laren leaves a lot to be desired. During my visit I found a hair in my food, which is disgusting enough in itself. When I sent the dish back to the kitchen it came back with a piece of eyelash extension on it (no one in our group had eyelash extensions) - a completely unacceptable level of hygiene. The staff's reaction was even worse; Instead of an apology, I was fobbed off with a ridiculous statement about the wind blowing the extensions onto my plate. I'm not crazy. This lack of professional behavior and customer service is nothing short of disgraceful. It's clear why this restaurant has such a bad reputation. I will never come back here again.

The place looks nice and the food is delicious. However, guests sit next to you, watching videos and calling on full volume, which makes it extremely uncomfortable and unpleasant to dine here. As a result, we involuntarily left early and wanted to take the food home, which we had barely eaten. The whole point is not how it SHOULD be made or whether the recipe has been adjusted (I'm not going to talk about that) But that I asked for a specific dish and received something else without being informed about adjustments to the recipe. And they make it so difficult to take it back into the kitchen. Eten's appetite immediately disappeared from this endless discussion. Customer friendliness is hard to find. I forgot to add that the wait time was over 50 minutes from the time the order was placed.

Ik snap nu waarom de reviews zo slecht zijn, wat is er met jullie vriendelijke personeel gebeurd. wij hadden gereserveerd voor 4 volwassenen en ik had aangegeven dat er 2 kleine kindjes mee zouden komen, een baby en een kindje van 2, ik werd vandaag gebeld en toen werd er gezegd dat wij niet konden komen omdat mijn kinderen mee tellen als personen en zij geen mensen aannemen van 6 ( mijn baby zou gewoon in de kinderwagen zitten en mijn dochter in een kinderstoel) wij waren dus met 4 volwassenen. Het werd ook met een niet vriendelijke manier verteld. Ik gaf aan dat ik dit echt apart vind omdat mijn kinderen niet gaan mee eten en ze nog zo klein zijn. Zo jammer dat jullie zo achteruit zijn gegaan en zo met klanten om gaan. Blijkbaar willen jullie geen geld verdienen en doen jullie liever arrogant en agressief tegen jullie gasten. Ik zal hier zeker ook niet meer eten of bestellen , wat wij regelmatig deden. Mijn advies naar jullie, vriendelijker zijn en ander personeel nemen.

The food is overpriced and the portions quite small. We ordered a starter and main courses, but the main course arrived even though we had just had the starter. Then it was taken away at our request and probably kept warm under a lamp because you could see that in the curry. For a fish sauce with pepper you will be charged 3 euros 😱. The food was tasty but not what it used to be. Shame...

Prijs/kwaliteit verhouding niet goed. Staat nergens dat verse koriander wordt gebruikt. Zat in mijn voorgerecht, zodat ik mijn hoofdgerecht met een "zeepsop" smaak heb gegeten. Kip en biefstuk droog. Garnalen loempia's zijn gewoon garnalen in een taai "krokant" jasje voor €4 per stuk. Spa rood is net zo duur als een vaasje en cola zero is zelfs duurder, hoe dan?!? Moet apart gebakken rijst bestellen en kost €6,50 en dat moet je dan nog een keer bestellen wil je voldoende hebben. Ook erg vervelend als je bij de deur zit en telkens de deur opengaat voor afhalers en de deur niet dicht doen. Jammer, had hoge verwachtingen.

Very bad receptionist, she is very stupid

Enjoyed some quality time with my husband last night. We had a starter and main course followed by a theater visit. Unfortunately, the pain started during the performance with stabbing pains in my stomach. When I got home I had severe stomach cramps, diarrhea and vomiting, which lasted all night. My husband also experienced twinges and abdominal cramps. When I called Bankok Laren today, I was immediately put on the defensive without listening. I wanted to solve it first, but the lady wanted proof from my GP. I agreed and told her she would receive it tomorrow. She then casually claimed that they wanted to call my doctor to check my statement. Unbelievable! Despite everything, she wanted me to pick up spoiled food again. I want my money back because your food made me sick. And then she also asked if I had been tested for corona! Unbelievable. I hope no one else gets sick. Luckily I didn't bring my children. You have €122, but I will never come back, and neither will those around me.

Upon arrival we were given a small table, when we asked for a larger one we were told that this was not possible due to the number of reservations. 1 hour later there was still no one at the big table. We also sat at a table for 2 people while there were three of us. The people who came in later in pairs were allowed to sit at the large tables. That aside, the food was super salty. It felt like I had eaten a kilo of salt, if the oyster sauce from THAILAND is so salty and you have no influence on this, then at least let us know. While pointing this out, people laughed very faintly and reproached us. Too bad I couldn't enjoy my food. I will never come back here again, I would go to Amsterdam. The customer service and food are much better there. Oh well, it probably depends on the fact that we are not of Dutch descent.

Last Friday I went to Bangkok Laren for dinner. Normally I wouldn't leave a review, but because I suffered food poisoning (including dehydration), I will. Be warned!!

Super delicious food! Fresh dishes, nice atmosphere, lots of choice & friendly service.

I don't understand why there are so many negative reviews. The food I ordered was of excellent quality, more than enough and tasted delicious.

Tasty Thai food. The only thing that's a shame is that you're so close together.

What an unfriendly staff, really unbelievable arrogant. Food tasted like it came out of the microwave. This restaurant shouldn't call itself a Thai restaurant, because the land of the smile is definitely not to be found here.

Although the food good is, makes the staff us decide to not come back again. Its a shame because even decent service with their good food would make a great restaurant. Let's hope for better...

Heerlijk eten.... stelt nooit teleur

Lekkere gerechten, porties wel aanzienlijk kleiner dan de locatie in Amsterdam-Centrum. Biefstuk gerecht met groenten was slap van smaak.

Zeer goede kwaliteit, perfecte en zeer vriendelijke bediening.

I’ve been two nights in row , for the simple fact that welcomed us warmly and gave generously of very tasty food! They will make you to feel comfortable and welcome into a cozy place! Tasty dishes , but with more patience everything can be improved!

Lekker eten, klein van binnen, maar fijne sfeer.

Zeer gezellig restaurant. Vriendelijk personeel en we hebben erg lekker gegeten, open keuken en direct contact met de koks. Zeker aan te raden.

2x de kip cashew besteld en de Bangkok Mix als voorgerecht. Alle gerechten waren zeer smaakvol bereid. Ook was de service vriendelijk en snel terwijl de zaak echt helemaal vol zat. Aanrader dus. De reviews zijn wat misleidend. Had me daardoor bijna op t verkeerde been laten zetten. Zou wel aanraden om te reserveren.

Heerlijk gegeten. Kip cashew was een groot succes. Prima service (begrijp de de lage reviews hier niet helemaal) en sfeervolle tent. Aanrader! Wel reserveren want het kan behoorlijk druk zijn.

Naast dat wij zowat het restaurant werden (uitgejaagd) door een meneer, met de vraag of we de rekening al wilde was onze ervaring wel oke. Het eten was prima we kozen de kip cashew.

Heerlijk verse eten! Mijn favoriete plek om rustig en lekker te eten. Vriendelijk persoon.

Bijzonder leuk restaurantje vriendelijke bediening heerlijk eten zeer smaakvolle ruime keuze op de kaart. Een aanbeveler dus.

Eten was heel lekker! Echter het eten heeft heel lang op zich laten wachten, we moesten er meerdere keren om vragen! Jammer, komt door het afhaal en diner concept..

Het eten was dit keer niet lekker. De rijst was koud en niet goed gekookt. De kip met cashewnoten zaten precies 3 cashewnoten bij en viel erg tegen ten opzichte van de vorige keren. Bij de vraag of het lekker was heb ik aangegeven dat het tegen viel. Als reactie kreeg ik " het zal wel druk zijn ".

Uitstekend gegeten. Lekker pittig en heel smakelijk.
