We had a delicious meal in a cozy, atmospheric restaurant. The staff were friendly.

It feels like a holiday in Laren. The food here is ridiculously delicious. It feels like you're on holiday in Italy. Great staff, wonderful owner. It doesn't get any better than this.

We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. From the moment we walked in, we received a warm welcome. The staff is incredibly friendly, and we were served quickly. What's particularly striking is the owner's dedication – a true Italian who is visibly proud of his business and shows genuine interest in his guests. The kitchen is also staffed by Italian chefs. We started with carpaccio and bruschetta as appetizers. Pasta flambé with truffle and cod with spinach was our main course. For dessert, we had cheesecake and tiramisu. And a scroppino to finish. We received homemade lemoncello on the house – it was delicious! Also practical: there's ample parking within walking distance, which makes it even easier. In short, a warm, welcoming atmosphere, fantastic food, and top-notch service. We will definitely be back! Unfortunately, I didn't take photos of all the dishes...

Fantastic restaurant! I'm from The Hague myself, but I've been to Laren several times especially for Maximiliano's. Everything is top-notch: - The food is delicious - The wines and cocktails are excellent - The staff is amazing I would recommend everyone to eat here.

Discovered far too late that there is such an amazing restaurant in our neighborhood. Often drove past the beautiful building but did not realize that a "real" Italian restaurant is housed here. In the meantime, our visits can no longer be counted on one hand. The welcome is warm, as it should be in Italian culture. Both inside and outside you sit wonderfully. The service is friendly and skilled. The food is traditional and of high quality. Starters such as the carpaccio of ribeye, vitello and salmon tartare are like you have never tasted before. The fish or the pasta flambé prepared at the table is a must and as a meat lover you will not miss anything. Our children enjoy it here just as much as we do and that is not always a given 😉 From owner and chef to waitresses, they are all great! Ciao!

Due to the arrogant and unfriendly attitude of the host upon arrival, we immediately turned around.

Tasty but not great. Nice table linen but “cheap” cutlery and z/p dishes. Ambience reasonable, no music, very small flower. Service of the lady could be more attentive I think.

What a wonderful surprise, this restaurant! You walk into Maximiliano’s and you immediately feel: there is love in the food here – and probably also a big lump of butter, because man oh man, it is delicious. The pasta was so fresh that I wondered if there was an Italian nonna somewhere in the kitchen kneading with a rolling pin and an espresso in her hand. The truffle pasta? I actually wanted to take that with me in a Tupperware container for tomorrow, the day after tomorrow and my next birthday. Everything is taken care of down to the last detail: from the presentation to the taste. And the dessert… let me put it this way: I wanted to lick the plate clean, but I had just enough self-control (and audience) not to do so. The service is friendly, alert and genuinely enthusiastic – not those rehearsed ‘how did it taste?’ questions, but genuine interest. And the interior? Warm, stylish, with a touch of Italy, but without plastic bunches of grapes or kitschy music (thankfully!).

After a great welcome by an “older” waitress, the first two courses came fairly quickly. Food just tasted good, although everything on the menu is quite expensive. One bruschetta (toast with just some tomatoes) €6 each and an oyster €6.50. Then we saw the waitress leave with a disagreement and then it was drama. We had to wait more than 45 minutes for our main course. No one has been at the table in the meantime to pour wine or replenish water. After asking different members of the staff twice where our food was, no answer. Were just ignored. Without any excuse the main course was brought to the table. Our son wanted the Tiramisu for dessert (we were actually done with it, but hey... anything for your child). The dessert menu arrived quickly, but then it was quiet at the table for another 25 minutes. Our patience had run out and we walked to the bar myself to pay the (quite high) bill. Luckily it was an exact final amount, so you didn't even have to round for a tip. The Italian owner asked if everything (he dared) had been to his liking. Clearly told him about our findings. All that could be said was a meager “sorry”. And a snarl at the rest of his staff that the service had been bad. He could and should have solved this more elegantly. This was once for us but never again. As a new guest you are not taken seriously here, as a regular guest you are clearly treated like a king. Very unfortunate!

Sat on the terrace in the sun at Easter, nice and friendly staff and ordered delicious apple pie with coffee. Wonderful stopover, recommended.

I came here for lunch with my 9 year old daughter while we were passing through. There was no guest in sight at that time and the lady serving indicated that we could choose a table. My daughter opted for a table of 4 with a bench. As soon as we had taken a seat, the owner told us that she did not think it was okay for us to sit at a table of 4 because there was enough room for 2. Even after explaining that my daughter chose this table because she had the chance, it was not handled leniently. It's a bit strange that guests are treated this way, especially since we were the only guests at that time. The food was otherwise fine and the lady serving was friendly and helpful, compliments to her. The owner can still learn something from her regarding hospitality.

Onbeleefd personeel, 5 keer besteld en er kwam telkens niks. Wou ons uiteindelijk niet meer serveren en daar hadden ze geen reden voor. Geen aanrader!

Normaal gesproken schrijf ik geen recensies maar vandaag moet dit me toch echt van het hart. Rond half 4 op leuk terrasje in de zon neergestreken. Helaas was de mevrouw van de bediening uitgebreid aan het kletsen met de gast aan het tafeltje naast mij. Na meer dan 10 minuten wachten maakte ze nog geen aanstalten om te vragen wat ik wilde drinken. Het is niet aan mij om naar de bediening te wenken die mij heus wel heeft gezien. Uiteindelijk boos weggelopen. Ze had toen wel meteen aandacht voor de 2 dames die meteen mijn plekje innamen, waarschijnlijk kennissen van haar. Servizio di merda zeggen ze in het Italiaans. Geen aanrader dus.

Terrible experience, expected much more. Upon arrival we were assigned a table, but no one walked with us or gave any further explanation. We ended up having to wait more than half an hour before someone came to take our order. In the meantime, the table next to us had already ordered, received and eaten their starter. The staff only seemed to pay attention to regular guests or people they liked, we were completely ignored, even though we raised our hands several times. Fortunately, the food itself tasted good, but afterwards we wanted the dessert menu. That also took more than 30 minutes before anyone came by. Finally, we had to ask for the bill four times. After another half hour of waiting we got up ourselves, we were done with it. I'll never come back here again.

Literally WOW! fantastic food and always fun! I used to go to d'Ántica and Cinema Paradiso...and the quality of the food has only improved...I didn't know that was even possible...highly recommended!

De inrichting van deze Italiaan is gezellig sober. De bediening is OK. De kaart is prima. De wijnkaart is ook voldoende. Wij kozen verschillende voor en hoofdgerechten die allemaal lekker waren. De uitzondering was de Ossebuco waarvan het vlees wel goed was maar de risotto koud/ lauw. Wij hebben het zo gelaten omdat het dan weer 20 minuten duurt voordat er een nieuw gerecht klaar is . Jammer! Verser was het eten en ook de wijn prima. De sfeer was prima.

What a terrible experience. It started badly on the telephone, where we were treated unfriendly. We had a reservation for 8:30 PM, but waited until 9:15 PM without receiving any service. The staff completely ignored us and seemed completely disinterested. In the end we left without eating. Definitely not recommended if you want a decent night out. I will never come back here again!

A nice looking restaurant, but the food was disappointing for the price. The pasta with burrata had no burrata but a drop of whitish sauce that was supposed to be burrata, the panna cotta contained so much gelatin that it almost became crunchy and the cheesecake was 50% cookie crumbs. Furthermore, I was stuck in the chilly draft all evening because hardly anyone closes the front door behind them. Please put on a good pusher!! For a luxurious looking restaurant, Maximilliano does not live up to expectations.

At Maximiliano in Laren we were warmly welcomed by a friendly waiter. We tried different starters and main courses, where the starters were tasty, but not as exciting as expected. The main course, the sea bass, was fantastic - highly recommended! We sat in the conservatory, which created a cozy and relaxed atmosphere. All in all a nice place with delicious fish and good service.

Nice Italian in Laren. Always busy. Always pleasant. Slightly overpriced, wine list varying, oysters varying. Quite a long wait. The rest more than fine.

The food is just fine, only the service... Unfortunately, the service is mainly occupied with acquaintances. After a long wait, ordered the same drinks again, no apologies and then presented with the wrong bill. Have it repaired, then pay for it properly, and then come back with an even higher bill for a second one bottle of wine and claim that we had paid too little (which was also incorrect). And again no apologies. What a miss! Everyone attends service school quickly.

Had dinner there for the first time last week with my girlfriend. Today we went again...that says enough. Nice people and good food. See you again soon.

Alles klopt: prachtig pand, mooie ligging, zonnig terras, vlotte en vriendelijke bediening. Binnen linnen gedekte tafels, ongedwongen inrichting. Goede Spumante als aperitief en Fritto Misto (om te delen) als voorafje. Veelbelovend begin. Maar dan: Lamskotelletjes, niet zacht rosé gebraden, maar knetterhard doorbakken zonder enige verdere entourage. Tournedos - op verzoek raw - komt royaal medium gebakken ter tafel met bijna rauwe boontjes en een wortel. De Teramisu smaakt nergens naar, maar "is beslist huisgemaakt". Van de Delizia al Limone is dat beslist niet het geval. Het wijnaanbod per glas is wat beperkt: slechts één rosé, drie wit en vier rood, maar wel van behoorlijke kwaliteit. Wij zaten er samen heel gezellig, de zon scheen en we zijn keurig bediend, maar we gingen voor het eten. En dat was toch even een dingetje. We hadden beter twee Fritto Misto kunnen nemen (groothandel) met misschien nog een kleinigheid waar de keuken zich niet al te veel mee hoeft bezig te houden.

Nice business evening with Team members. Atmosphere quote uniq, as a dinner side of NED football game. Service quality not perfect, I just have to remind couple of times about ordered drinks, but food itself was a sufficient and quite nice served.

Afgelopen zondag, vaderdag, door mijn vrouw verrast op lunch bij max. Om half 2 gereserveerd en ook om half 2 aan tafel buiten. Om 2 uur na reeds enkele keren de aandacht van een de meisjes geprobeerd te hebben te krijgen maar opgestaan en van een andere tafel 2 menukaarten gepakt, waarvan er bij een een bladzijde ontbrak. Na wederom een half uur, dus na een uur zitten, eten en drank besteld. Na een kwartier nog steeds geen drank ontvangen en dit ook maar bij een andere dame besteld. Om drie uur, dus na anderhalf uur naar binnen gegaan om zelf drank te halen, en gevraagd of de bedrijfsleider aanwezig was. Deze was niet aanwezig, echter mij werd beloofd dat het er nu aan kwam. Om kwart over drie, dus wederom na een kwartier wachten kwamen de drankjes even later gevolgd door een van de gerechten, echter niet een door ons besteld gerecht. Toen maar de rekening gevraagd en poffertjes gaan eten, heel gek, de rekening was er binnen een minuut. Ik wil bij deze de bedrijfsleiding/eigenaar hartelijk danken voor een verpeste vaderdaglunch, misschien een tip om bij een volgende keer minder tafels aan te nemen of zelf aanwezig te zijn om leiding te geven. Eating out on Remembrance Day at Maximiliano's seemed like the right plan. However, that turned out to be a deep disappointment. Service on arrival was rude and did not take our coats. Then had to wait a long time at the table for the menu. After making a choice, we had to wait exactly 30 minutes before the order was taken. At one point it was 8pm and to my great surprise Maximiliano's staff did not shut up during the two minutes of silence!!! extremely rude and disrespectful. The young chef just laughed about it. Incomprehensible. After this we went home feeling nauseous. Certainly not worth repeating. 2 stars

What a nice tent! The food exceeds your expectations, not normal, from starter to dessert, you must have been here at least once, I sometimes go to star restaurants, this one belongs there! Later we had a glass of wine outside with the owner on the beautiful terrace, what a nice guy, fantastic!

Last weekend we had dinner at Maximiliano's for the third time. A real pleasure every time (we come from The Hague, so quite a drive)! We don't know any restaurant in the Netherlands that we would rather go to. The food, staff and ambiance are 10/10!

After a visit to the Singer museum, we had a super tasty meal, definitely worth repeating. Nice tent. At first we only had a starter, but we liked it so much that we also opted for a main course and dessert.

This place was high on my list because of reviews and the pasta flambé that is prepared at your table. It is pricey, but you know that when you go out to eat in Laren. The service was great and the food delicious! In short, worth the money!

Everything is soo good here that 5 stars is not enough! I would have taken pictures of the food but we just finished everything before getting a chance! Would definitely recommend and will hopefully come back soon!

What a pleasure! atmospheric, cozy and such a delicious meal. The Pasta Flambé was on our wish list, and the truffle is recommended. Start with the eggplant and baby spinach salad with figs. We enjoyed it, THANK YOU! And then I almost forgot to mention dessert. Delicious with a sweet lemon zest.

Ate here on Boxing Day, reserved Christmas menu. It started with a glass of champagne according to the waitress, which turned out to be a sour prosecco, very good for cleaning your rims. The appetizers were inedible, so we went back. The starters consisted of a floury ravioli and some kind of minced meat in bacon topped with canned/packaged tomato sauce. Too gross for words. The main courses consisted of a small, cold steak, which was returned and reheated, which was inedible. The fish I had was good, with lots of garlic and capers. Unfortunately without a scrap of vegetables, potatoes, etc. Just bare on a plate. The Dame Blanche consisted of ice cream from a carton, whipped cream from a can and some kind of chocolate chewing gum. This baggage for the sum of 114 euros per person. Never going to this restaurant again

Delicious lunch and super sweet staff

Tja, niet helemaal mijn ding. Nogal lawaaierig en ik kon mijn goesting niet echt vinden op de kaart. Zal wel aan mij liggen. Laat je als je van Italiaans houdt niet weerhouden.

Hoewel de menukaart veelbelovend was, viel de smaak van de gerechten bij Maximiliano wat tegen. Het eten was helaas vlak van smaak. De bediening liet op zich wachten en bestellingen van drankjes werden soms vergeten. Bovendien duurde het serveren van het nagerecht wel erg lang. Al met al teleurstellend.

Heerlijke italiaanse keuken, fijne bediening met aandacht voor de gasten. We hebben hier een mooie avond gehad.

De prijs/kwaliteitsverhouding is hier helaas uit balans. Het eten was simpelweg niet lekker genoeg voor wat er voor gevraagd werd. Dat wil niet zeggen dat het slecht is. Je kunt elders alleen lekkerder of voor dezelfde kwaliteit vinden voor een veel lagere prijs. De bediening is vriendelijk en de aankleding is prima. Ik zou aanraden enkel te komen als het prima is veel neer te leggen voor vrij middelmatig eten.

Zeer chique Italiaan, alleen veel te duur!

Als liefhebbers van Italië en hun gerechten vol verwachting een reservering gemaakt bij Maximiliano. Op zich hebben we er lekker gegeten maar de porties zijn echt te klein. Met een voorgerecht, hoofdgerecht, nagerecht, koffie met een likeurtje en een half volle maag weer vertrokken. Bij de nagerechten wordt geen echte slagroom gebruikt. Jammer dat je het gevoel hebt geen waar voor je geld te krijgen.

Al lang op de bucket list, deze plek! Nu we inmiddels niet meer in de buurt wonen toch maar een keer gedaan! Buiten op terras gedineerd, binnen is het zeker mooier maar te warm. Gerechten waren bijzonder goed, helaas een ‘rare’ bestelde Tournedos werd meer dan medium geserveerd. Komen terug om nog een keertje binnen te proberen. Leuke spontane bediening en gastheer !

We had a beautiful night in this lovely restaurant. The service was exquisite with very friendly people. The food was nothing less than delicious. The alla norma aubergine pasta deserves a 5 star review of its own! The lighting, decoration, general vibe of this authentic italian restaurant really added to the perfection of our experience there, I would advice anyone wishing for a colourful culinary joyful journey to make a reservation as soon as possible and expect nothing less than a lovely evening at Maximiliano!
