A very pleasant spot just behind Dam Square. The international cuisine menu is really tasty. I especially recommend the vegetable gyoza, spicy chicken wings, and nachos!

Food was good and the beer is extra cold. They have a neighborhood tap for a local beer that changes often. Always try that one! Great service and happy to chat bartenders.

A great place! Very friendly staff and the food was delicious. We came here several times during our vacation. The prices are also perfectly reasonable. A few evenings we even came here just for a beer and played cards.

Lacking! No idea how it has such high reviews. Waiters were busy doing their thing and our food took over an hour to get to us- not a difficult order. Menu is limited. Atmosphere is nothing special. The bar tender seemed to be the only person who recognized the lack of attention we received and handed it perfectly.

Located on a fairly busy street, Black Dog is a casual eatery with a wide selection of beers and pub-style food items such as burgers, wings, nachos, gyoza, and sandwiches. The food and drinks are all very average, but it’s a fun location to sit outside and people-watch, as the busy street offers front-row view of the many near-misses between the pedestrians, cyclists, and cars. Fast and friendly service.

It’s a lovely place to grab some beers and snacks. Staff is super friendly and helpful even though they are super busy. The barman as far as I remember named Darragh, he is such a hospitable person. Kudos to the Irish guy :) .

This bar has the best chilli fries I've had in Amsterdam so far. The service is very friendly and attentive. If I lived in Amsterdam, this bar would definitely become one of my daily routines! It's such a great bar, highly recommended!

Amazing food lovely staff great vibes

Booked this food outlet, The Black Dog, Amsterdam and it was not the best at all, the guy who served us was run off his feet and seemed to be the only one working, if you don't flag him you would be waiting ages...we flagged him after 15min of no service, ordered food and drinks, 4 of us, 1 of us had the nachos which i was told was fine, 1 a burger also ok, some of us had soup, also ok, myself and another had the beef & ale pie with chips, let me tell you, the pie was dry, no gravy just steak and peas, the pastry was burnt, the pie wasn't even a pie, it was more like a pastie/steak bake (Greg's style), the so called pie was so salty, so much so it was actually inedible, there was a boat of gravy on the plate but it was like rain water, it had flavor but was just runny as hell, couldn't poor that on no food, or my chips would of swam away, I'd give the chips 3 outta 10, bit salty and slightly hard/overcooked, now for the customer service, I asked for the manager who came over and when I told him the steak bake/ fake pie was salty and over seasoned he said with chest " sorry about that guys" and walked off, so I went to pay at the bar and asked the manager if he could do something on the bill regarding the unsatisfactory uneaten food, (all I ate was brocolli and picked at the steak bake, left half and ate no chips, other party ate the brocoli and mash and left the steak bake), this dish was around €23.50, and all I asked for was a little discount and the manager replied " no you have to pay the same as everybody else, I tried it this morning and its fine" 1. He can't take constructive criticism and 2. Doesn't know how to deal with customers in the correct manner, 3. All he cared about was money, 4. He was unwilling to address or discuss any of my issues, 5. No customer service skills and lack of interaction. All I got was a stern, hard faced, cold response. Then the next day I found out his chef had left and I'm gunna guess this is why some of the food is below poor

Don't believe all the hype of frites in a paper cone. This place has the best chips in Amsterdam bar none.

We visited Amsterdam for a concert and found the pub by accident. Excellent service (very welcoming), very good food and cool atmosphere (we even went again the next day)!

We are visiting from America & came here for a late dinner based on the good reviews and it did not disappoint. Services was fantastic. Shoutout to our nice waitress! Food was even better! We had the burger and the quesadilla. We got drinks too. Fair prices, great taste, good vibes! But really get the burger….it melts in your mouth.

This place was great! The spicy wings (not too spicy) were yummy. The burgers were big and filling and the chicken ceaser with bacon was delicious 😋. The IPA was great.

After a very, very long journey to Amsterdam, the Black Dog was our first stop in Amsterdam. Beautiful decor, delicious food, and above all, very friendly, authentic staff! Thanks to Darragh (Daire from Ireland) for the perfect service! It was a pleasure! Be sure to try the vegetarian nacchos and quesadillas!

The only place in Amsterdam that served coffee after 9 pm. We walked through the city looking for some coffee with no luck until someone told us to go to The Black Dog and the guys were awesome since we entered. We grabbed 4 cappuccinos (They were great!), took some photos and enjoyed some great time there. PS: The music was great!

I just had a very good dinner at the black dog. The staff is very friendly and the food was exactly what I expected. I had buffalo wings and as a side dish the mash potatoes which were huge und all very good!

Super friendly people and very pet friendly place . The music could be a tad bit loud at times but you don't notice it after a while. We tried the buffalo wings and the meat pie - they were very tasty. Would definitely recommend.

ORDER THE PHILLY CHEESETAKE AND DUTCH BEER! It was soooo good and flavorful (some meat pieces were a bit chewy but the flavor was worth the jaw workout) and the beer was so yummy and light (I usually don’t like beer). The buffalo chicken burger was also really good. The waiter was super nice and friendly and authentic. The place isn’t the most aesthetically pleasing but if you don’t care about that you’re good.

A real gem! The service is top, professional but friendly to make you feel welcomed and at ease. I had a steak sandwich and it was the best I've had, ever! I order them in most pubs in London and now Amsterdam and this is hands down the best. Truly recommend.

I have been to bars around the world and this is one of the worst. The American behind the bar was clearly drunk but still provided better service than his mate who seemed to have the memory of a goldfish getting tables mixed up, orders wrong and not bringing the bill when asked twice. It was not overly busy when we were there. Service was slow and food was mediocre at best. Pricing isn’t bad compared to what’s around but service is a massive let down.

My absolute favorite place for a casual meal in Amsterdam. The whole menu looks delicious but honestly, I could never bring myself to order anything but the chicken wings. They arejust that good.

The food was so much better than how the venue looks like. Simply good, especially the sauce that came with the buffalo wings.

Hands down best restaurant if you want good food, good beer and an amazing vibe. Nachos, buffalo wings and quesadillas were all great. I’d you like tortilla chips theirs are homemade.

Stopped in for dinner. The beer was ice cold and and there were many great selections to choose from. We ate a quesadilla and chicken sandwich and both were outstanding. The servers were very kind and welcoming. I highly recommend coming here if you are looking for excellent quick food and service!

On Kings Day with million of people still working like a clock with really good food and service.

Saw the waiter (on photos) literally throw the drinks at a family at a table. Worst part is there was a tiny kid as well. This is not acceptable by any standards by anone, regardless of what the exact issue was.

The Black Dog is a very great restaurant where everything is right - the staff, the food, the ambience and the prices. The guest beer is a bit overpriced but that doesn't bring the restaurant down in any way. Great recommendation!

I’m a sucker for a Big Black Dog so of course I had to visit this pub. Delicious Gin & Elderflower tonic, the buffulo chicken sandwich sloppy GOOD 🤩 with fries and side of blue cheese dressing to dip. Bar was busy and staff was very nice and inviting.

Just had the Fish and Chips here, if you’re English, Irish or Scottish, looking for a taste from home, you will be transported to your hometown chippy with the Fish and Chips from here, the best in Amsterdam BY FAR (I am English myself), 11/10 straight up whole heartedly recommend this.

I have wanted to go here for quite a while and Oh man it delivered. A restaurant so close to the Dam Square always makes me a bit cautious for scams but this is far from that. The atmosphere is really nice, it has a nice buzz but isn't too loud. The food is really good, the gyoza's are delicious for a really good price (7 for 10), the burger is really juicy and good though the mustard can be a bit spicy and the fries are really good with proper mayonaise. But the service was maybe my favourite, at first our waiters English was so good me and my girlfriend didn't even know he was dutch. He was one of the best servers I have had in a very long time, he was laid back, talkative and very nice. Both staff members were really attentive but not at all pushy. Food and drinks arrived very quickly. I would definitely recommend this place, i can imagine it is also a nice spot to have a drink as they have a lot of beers on draft.

Bar/restaurant in Amsterdam with very friendly atmosphere. We were a little hungry so we ordered the Caesar salad and we enjoyed it! The rest of the menu looks very appetizing too. I recommend this place and will happily return!

Traditional Sunday roast is a must try. It tastes how it should look like which is delicious. Meat was tender that compliments the sauce and roasted veggies. Nachos look homemade especially the tortilla which is really crunchy. Atmosphere is cozy and staffs are friendly. I will surely comeback again. 😍😍😍

Great place with awesome music. However, No mobile reception due to the location but why capped or unstable WiFi? I can’t use my phone to communicate with rest of the world. Wifi doesn’t work at all and my phone doesn’t work either. Invest in a stable router.

Just plain rude bar staff. Bar man checked in on the two table beside us and ignored us completely. We drank the 2 drinks we ordered and left to find somewhere more pleasant.

To be honest, I don't know why this place has such a high rating. The food is average. We ordered hamburguers and giozas for lunch, and they were ok. Nothing special. The hamburgers are very simple and don't have a lot of flavor. The service was nice but super slow. Probably is not a place to eat but more to drink. Place seems to be full the majority of the time, so make a reservation just in case you want to be seated immediately or just prepare to wait a few minutes to be seated.

Late night stop here for a couple appetizers and drinks. It was a cool place!

We wandered into The Black Dog because of the name and we were missing our pooches at home… was a wonderful surprise to have such a cosy atmosphere to escape the cold, excellent service from a charming Greek waiter, and tasty food and drinks. There were five of us including three kids and there was something on the menu for everyone - chicken burger, Camembert, dumplings, nachos and fries. The beer selection was awesome and there was some games to play while we waited for our food to arrive! A fun and busy venue which we would all recommend!

I love this place! Its always full and not pretentious but has a fun cozy vibe. Its a 5-minute walk from Amsterdam Centraal and a great meet-up spot for people all over Amsterdam :) The food is great and the people working there are always nice and friendly (not a given in The Netherlands hahaha) Deffo go if you are in the neighbourhood!

Great bar with a fun crowd. Staff is attentive and friendly. Pedros and Darren(?) were great chat and the drinks kept coming. Only had the gyoza which were good but other food looked great too. Fun chill bar that I'll be coming back to
