it’s the OG. But I feel like they take things a lot for granted given that they have the “OG” status. When you can buy everything from literally the same exact goodies or equipment for up to 50-60% less within the same country, that’s when it doesn’t make sense to me. Other than that, I mean it’s THE Bulldog Palace, of course you should go and have a look at least once since it’s always packed and the live music sessions are very fun. It’s just much more logical to buy any type of consumables from elsewhere and then come to the palace to enjoy a couple drinks.

I've been here a lot of times and honestly, I've never been disappointed. Staff, vibe, food and drinks... everything you need for a good evening was on point. Food could be a little more versatile, but I guess that's just me. It was absolutely delicious tho. I had a fun time here.

We'd been here several times during our stay in Amsterdam, and until one evening, the experience had always been excellent: the staff were kind, helpful, and professional, and the atmosphere was pleasant and well-managed. Precisely for this reason, what happened next was even more striking. We entered as we had done on other occasions, initially waiting at the entrance without any staff member welcoming us or directing us to a table. Meanwhile, other people were coming in and freely taking their seats, so, after several minutes of waiting and seeing some free seats at a shared table, we decided to sit down as well. A small pouf was sitting on the sofa next to the table. Simply assuming someone had left it there, I tried to politely move it and put it back. At that point, an Italian waitress with long black hair and glasses intervened, her attitude disproportionately aggressive and theatrical, as if I had committed a very serious act rather than simply a misunderstanding in a dark and crowded place. Despite my immediate apologies and the fact that she promptly put the beanbag back where it was, the girl continued to speak in an arrogant and needlessly intimidating tone, obsessively harping on a supposed "reserved" sign that was practically invisible from a distance, especially considering the lighting in the room. Rather than an employee intent on managing a situation, she seemed like a frustrated person looking for someone to vent her bad mood on. And that's the real problem: not the misunderstanding, but the manner. Because a polite customer should never feel treated with hostility for a situation born solely from a lack of organization at the entrance. If someone had simply done their job, welcoming customers and assigning seats, none of this would have happened. It's still a shame to see an entire competent and courteous team ruined by the attitude of a single person incapable of managing the public with poise and professionalism. N.B. A sincere piece of advice to the girl: at her age, perhaps she should ask herself if working in contact with people is really her path. Kindness is not optional in hospitality, and arrogance does not become authority just because it is displayed loudly.

The bar is usually stuffed with happy dancing people but the drinks are good and live music is amazing. Smoking green inside is allowed while tobacco is forbidden. Staff is very friendly. Wine and beer is priced well, cocktails are a bit in the pricey side but they taste very good.

A really cool spot with a great atmosphere and a rather unique decor (an old police station with the original prison bars). The only downside was that, on two consecutive visits, we were asked to buy a drink if we wanted to stay inside, but only on one of those visits. It's possible that buying a drink is mandatory to sit inside.

Pleasant first experience, service was friendly but unfortunately I caught the girl who made the porn star martini stirring the ice (to chill the glass) with her finger.... apart from that everything else was nice and it's the latest place open! A definite must try smoke friendly people ^^

The atmosphere and location were nice, but the experience at the bar completely ruined it for us. The bartender had a terrible attitude from the moment we ordered, acting as if she was doing us a favor by serving us a beer. Customer service matters, especially in a place that receives tourists from all over the world. Being rude, dismissive and visibly annoyed with customers creates a really uncomfortable experience. On top of that, charging customers to use the bathroom after already buying drinks feels ridiculous. We came excited to visit The Bulldog because it’s such a famous place in Amsterdam, but honestly the service was disappointing and unwelcoming. Staff attitude can completely change the experience.

I would like to report an incident with a waiter named Youssef/Yusuf at The Bulldog. This happened on Saturday at around 15:00. He was the waiter working outside at that time. I sat at another customers’ table only after asking for their permission. However, Youssef/Yusuf suddenly told me that I could not pay my bill separately and said, “Don’t do stupid things.” When I told him that I did not want him to speak to me in such a disrespectful way, he kept insisting, raised his voice, and refused to acknowledge his mistake. The situation felt very uncomfortable and disrespectful to me, especially because I had done nothing wrong and had simply asked to pay my own bill separately. I would appreciate it if this could be looked into, as I do not think customers should be spoken to in this way.

Been there on Friday night.. I remember great music, quality sound, fantastic Dutch lager and incredibly beautiful waitress.. 😅 they've got great stuff in general.. and BTW before you go there make sure you have pocket full of €1 coins for the lady looking after the toilet 😉

My friends and I tried to meet a friend in here and the "bouncers" we're being total d bags and wouldn't let us meet our friend. When we asked why they wouldn't let us in, they refused to tell us. I don't know I generally thought the "bouncers" were refusing to let us in being a friend group of guys.

Food was really nice was just very messy but that was expected, had the mist wonderful server, i smashed a big beer allover the table and she helped us out straight away and was really really nice, she did tell me her name but ive forgotten unfortunately however she was absolutely amazing, great vibe loved the blue long island ice tea and very comfortable place in general, will definitely be back

Whether you enjoy cannabis or not, this upscale bistro is a great place to start or end a night out in Amsterdam. I recommend the Sate! Update: 9 years later... The sate is gone! Try the club sandwich (the club is always fresh!) or some loaded fries instead (the fries get loaded and you can too!). Everything else is still on point.

The Bulldog Palace is a legendary spot in Amsterdam and it certainly lived up to the reputation! The historic building creates a grand atmosphere that you just don't find anywhere else. I was very impressed with the quality of the food and the overall vibe of the place. Service was attentive and professional throughout our visit. It is the perfect location to soak in the city's energy while enjoying a great meal. A must-visit for the iconic experience alone!

Having visited the bulldog many times over the last 10+ years, the experience is always great. Chilled out environment, attentive & polite staff, and quality food & drinks - what more could you want in Leidseplein?! Will no doubt be visiting again on our next trip to Amsterdam.

Relaxed place to sit on the terrace. Good cocktails🍸 The service is fast and friendly. The toilets are clean and the restroom attendant is friendly and keeps everything well organized. That last part is sometimes hard to find in Amsterdam 😆 ❌️❌️❌️

The only coffeshop I found that you can sit outside and enjoy a glass of wine or a beer with. It is in a great location, the staff are lovely and friendly and tram stop right beside it. I will always make sure I return here again.

Overall, the experience was satisfactory. However, it raises the question of whether it is appropriate to refuse a seat to a group of four people, one of whom did not place an order. If no one were ordering anything, this would be understandable, but with only one person, it seems questionable. Furthermore, it took about 20 minutes to clear the table in front of us, after which we had to wait again.

I ordered 2 lattes and 1 cupcakes in the end the service though I say 2 waters so I paid 15€ for 1 cupcake and 2 waters

Good food but horrible service. Our server barely even looked at us and definitely forgot to put our food order in because it look over an hour for our meals. We ordered the nachos as an appetizer and it took well over 30 minutes to come out. Very disappointed. Also smells like pot so badly that it gave me a headache. Do not recommend going here.

Considering its central location, interior ambiance, alcohol selection (most coffee shops don't offer alcohol), and the quality of its food menu, this is one of the best coffee shops you can go to. There's a smaller coffee shop right next door where you can shop and then sit in the larger café. However, I recommend going to different places to buy marijuana. Here you can only smoke weed and drink alcohol, and I highly recommend trying the crispy weed balls :) Because it's one of Amsterdam's first coffee shops and located in the city center, it gets very crowded inside.

We visited this place with my husband during our one-week trip to Amsterdam. The staff was perfect, very professional and attentive. The terrace is comfortable and can be heated, which made it even more enjoyable. The waiters are kind, and the food and drinks are excellent. We were very satisfied with the place and will definitely come back again.

A dreamlike and roguish experience

We went to the bulldog for a meal, on a stag party, we had booked thr table for 12 lads at 6pm for dinner, The atmosphere was great and the table service was excellent, but food was mediocre at best , and the worst part was having to pay 50 Cents Every time you went to the toilet despite spending an absolute fortune as a group drinking and eating , this is the first time I’ve experienced this and we will not return for that reason So if you go to the bulldog for a drink or something to eat, make sure you have got a pocket full of change to pay the toilet attendant ! and then she expected a tip.

Excellent atmosphere, good music, great selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, and very fast service. However, the food portions are quite small; they taste good, but the quantity could be better. There's a great variety of merchandise. Prices are reasonable for the location. If you don't like smoky environments, this isn't the place for you. If you want to enjoy yourself and socialize, this is the perfect spot. My bill came to €59.30 for two beers, one cocktail, one mixed appetizer platter, and one serving of spicy chicken wings.

DO NOT GO. One of the worst places in Amsterdam. The product quality is very poor and the overall experience was disappointing. Our waitress was unfortunately the hispanic lady everyone is complaining about in many of the reviews. She spent most of her time getting annoyed with costumers and we even saw her openly mocking customers including us, which made the atmosphere uncomfortable. The manager, “John”, was extremely rude when we tried to raise a concern about her, very aggressive. There are far better places in the city, places like Abraxas, where the staff are friendly and the quality is much better.

Very rude wait staff. This waitress was talking about us to other guests which was completely absurd. When we confronted her regarding this she started snapping back at us and didnt even seem to understand she was in the wrong. Will not be coming back here and would recommend others not to as well. Please check out the way better options than visit this place.
