We had one small tray of kibbeling, one portion of chips, and two soft drinks for the princely sum of 34 euros… never again. What is more, there are no prices on display anywhere in the shop, so tourist trap.

This is a seafood restaurant. They heat the fried items in the microwave before serving them, and the price depends on how much you buy. Unfortunately, the staff are rude. One employee doesn't wear gloves at all. He puts the food on the plate with his bare hands, handles and counts the money with the same hand, puts it in the cash register, and adjusts his clothes with the same hand. He doesn't wipe his hands with a napkin at all while doing this. When we warned him, he refused in a firm tone, even though everything is being recorded on camera. In short, hygiene and cleanliness are zero. The prices are also expensive. You either have to eat standing up and leave, or get a takeaway and continue your sightseeing.

Junk food, undisclosed prices, outrageous costs, tourist trap. Don't go there unless you want to ruin your day and your vacation.

We bought a variety pack and everything was delicious. The price was a bit high for the quantity, but otherwise everything was perfect.

The food was terrible, all reheated. I paid €100 including drinks, and it feels like highway robbery… plus, you have to pay an extra €1 to use the bathroom, it couldn't be worse. It's perfectly deserved to have 2.5 stars, which seems generous considering how bad everything is.

Let's start with the only good thing. The jumbo shrimp was a product where we could actually taste the shrimp flavor. Other than that, a few shrimp, 4 crab legs, 2 small cod fillets, and 1 beer cost 43.5 euros. We were crammed together. Paying 43.5 euros for a quick snack was really uncomfortable.

Seafood restaurant. Everything is heated. Decent value, but too expensive in my opinion. You can find better in the same town.

Total tourist trap. Fried food and they don't display the price per weight, so when you go to pay you realize how much of a rip-off it is. Plus, they handle the food without gloves.

The kibbeling waiting at the counter is microwaved and served with mussels heated up; you pay around €10-20 per person, which is unnecessarily expensive. A little further down the road, on the right side of the harbor, you can eat the same kibbeling for €5.

The fried fish is warmed up in a microwave 😅😂 It is as moist as sponge in a sauna!!Shoutout to the microwave for ruining crunch!! Also overpriced…a HUGE tourist trap!

There are no prices displayed, and the staff are not willing to tell you how much it will cost before you buy. You are simply told that everything depends on the weight when it is weighed. It is not transparent at all. I do not recommend this bar!

We ordered calamari and cod and enjoyed it quite a bit, although both the food and drinks are very expensive. The service from the young man who served us was excellent; he was very friendly.

Tourist trap ! We went in and got a small platter of fried seafood and a half pint beer, we ended up paying nearly 30 euros !!! We were told it’s proced by weight vut not how much per 100g, so we got a small plate. The fish tasted old, and was not tasty. And they are all cooked from before and on display where flies can go in, and then they put them in a box and microwave which makes it taste even more off. Definitely not recommend, there is another fish bar close by might worth trying that out as they have higher rating.

She didn't change the beer that had a mosquito in it. She just poured some out and refilled it. It wasn't pleasant.

I recently visited the De Vliegende Hollander, and everything was AMAZING. The seafood is TOO DIE FOR!! We tried fried fish, calamari, shrimps, mussels, French fries, and the herring. Everything was super fresh and delicious. I highly recommend this place.

Tourist trap to avoid, €69 for a large tray of fish including €8 for the tray of fries... no price displayed, they put in more than requested and only announce the price after heating the fish.

I should have read the reviews here before venturing into this place, but it's true that the food displays are tempting. The waitress was very kind and welcoming, but...the small tray at €30 is a bit of a letdown. The taste isn't exceptional either. That's the way it goes; I'll pay more attention next time!

Awful! They microwave the food in plastic containers. The price is outrageous, as they charge by weight, and everything costs over €50, even bread, rice, and sauces. The food is terrible.

It is scandalous what you have to pay here (6 Euros) for a portion of fries with mayonnaise, where half of the fries are burnt and the amount of mayonnaise isn't even enough for half of your fries. For a 33cl bottle of cola €4.80, which later turned out to be €3.75 at the place next door. And that’s not even mentioning a portion of kibbeling for €15.00, which costs €8.00 further down the street. And no, prices aren't listed anywhere, otherwise I wouldn't have sat down there either. You can also see everyone looking surprised at what they have to pay. Bad, very bad

TOURIST TRAP - DONT VISIT. V V EXPENSIVE. READ SO MANY REVIEWS Location - this is bang on the 1st shop as you enter the main market of Volendam. Food - It's oke. Ordered rice and fish. Rice and shrimps. And a bottle of soda. This was charged at 54 Euros. What a SCAM! Even for toilet you still have to pay 1 Euro, while in other shops and restaurants if you purchase it's free. Ambience - V cramped inside. Bump into each other while eating Price - It's a scam. See my comments above.

They didn’t show the menu, so we don’t know the price at all. They charged us almost €30 for just a little bit of seafood, which we saw later in other restaurants that costed €6-7 only. On top of that, the food was horrible. The squid was not fresh at all. It was a tourist scam. Please do not visit this restaurant!

Not recommended at all, extremely expensive, fried food reheated in a microwave, and they charge by weight without even clarifying the price.

Since we were not very hungry, we wanted to order a menu and split it in two, they said okay, but then they prepared it in two separate portions, I guess they didn't understand what we meant. The crab and shrimp were very good. But the menu was too much for us, so we had most of it left. And frankly, we were satisfied with the price we paid. We paid 96 Euros for two people.

The atmosphere in particular was very bad, unkind and unfriendly, it has nothing to do with the Netherlands.

Everything was terrible. By far the worst restaurant I've ever been to. The staff are extremely antisocial and not customer-friendly. The prices are also higher compared to other restaurants.

Avoid this place. The food is terrible, unhygienic, and the beer is dead. If you mention this, don't even bother trying to get a new one because I can just pay for it, and you're called a liar. There are plenty of other nice cafes nearby; go there instead.

The worst place in the area, very expensive and the quality of the fish is terrible, everything is reheated in the microwave, super bad tasting, mussels that fall apart on their own with a muddy taste and the batter is softened and dry, all very bad, not recommended at all, a tray of assorted seafood 47€ with little quantity and all the above already said, in any other place you eat better and cheaper and there is no bathroom either.

If I had seen the last review on Google Maps earlier, I would definitely not have visited this snack shop. My experience was almost identical to that described by the previous reviewer. I visited the shop around noon a few days ago. As none of the fried seafood items in the glass display had prices on them. When I asked about the prices, the staff answered somewhat impatiently. I ended up ordering around €18 worth of food. The staff then just heated everything in the microwave—and what made it worse was that some parts were still cold. Perhaps because the seafood snack wasn’t heated thoroughly, I felt a bit unwell later that afternoon and the whole experience was really disappointing.

We would give 0 stars if we could. Unfortunately, we didn’t check the ratings before sitting down. Prices are not displayed anywhere, and we ended up paying over €70 for just 4 drinks and a few snacks. The food was reheated in microwaves and tasted awful. Very disappointed, I feel I was scammed because I've talked in English.I've paid for around 200 gr kibbeling with sauce 16 euro. While my fish was warmed up in the microwave (which made it soggy),I've asked another lady then the one that served me and she said it's around 4 euro per /100 grames and then said to the lady that served me that:her answer was :this is the best fish! There is no prices anywhere. She gave me a bill for a different fish that I've asked(so she can explain the price)...too bad ,it really looked like a nice place,but I will definitely never buy from here....

You pay for the tourist fee, reheated food, beer €9.50, and if you want to use the toilet you still pay €1.

3 herrings, one with bread. One serving of mussels and one serving of prawn literally cost me 40 euros. Only 6-7 prawns, the herrings were not fresh and mussels started to turn bad I believe. Customers after me ordered about same amount of food and some beer, which cost them around 90 euros. Damn this place is bad and I hope the shop will shut down as soon as possible.

Overpriced, very bad microwave heated food. Don’t even think about to sit and enjoy. Very bad service. They don’t even bring a clean ashtray when you ask one.

A truly negative experience. Two Pepsis for €11 and 100 grams of fish for €8: outrageous prices for what you get. The food is awful and doesn't justify the price. Even worse is the staff's behavior: unprofessional and disrespectful, especially toward customers who don't speak English, who are clearly mocked. Absolutely avoid.

Microwaved, precooked (and therefore rubbery) food... All this at a completely unjustified and unclear price, not even listed on the menu or labels, and even misleadingly exploiting the similar English pronunciation of, in our case, "fourteen" and "forty." It's very expensive. Five shrimps for 8.67 euros.. A 0.5l Pepsi bottle for 5.5 euros.. 🫠 The fries are not crispy but rather soft. They heat them separately in the microwave and give you the sauce separately. If you ask, they'll give you a slice of lemon too! There was a long line of people so I waited in line to order.. 🥹

We've never had such bad food 😝 Everything is heated in a microwave, which is exactly how it tastes, and it's not even warm enough. Unfortunately, you only notice this after you pay!!! It's done intentionally!!! We had kibbeling rice with Napolitana sauce and paelli with shrimp and two Pepsi Cokes for a whopping €63.!!! This rip-off is unbelievable. Never again, and anyone who sees this place should steer clear of it; it's better for your stomach and your wallet!

Even one star is too much for this place. Our food was not delicious, the woman working was sullen and her behavior was not nice. I definitely do not recommend it. In the end, we wanted to use the toilet, it was 1 euro per person. Although we paid for 2 people, the door did not open, we told the woman working, she was not helpful and implied that we may have broken the door.

VERY BAD. I paid 18.59 euros for what you can see in the photo. Microwave reheated. No flavour. Calamari too soft and no crispy at all. The worst calamari I’ve ever eaten. Prawns overcooked. Money direct to the bin.

Food is microwaved to heat after you choose what you want. Lunch was 60 euro and the fried food was no longer crispy. Service was good. No bathrooms that I could find.

Ordered one shrimp and one fried fish. The food is really delicious, but it is microwave food. After selecting the food you want, the clerk immediately took it to the microwave to heat it up. I was dumbfounded at the moment, and the fee was weighed. These cost a total of 20 euros in the photo, which is really expensive! ! ! It's delicious, but not worth the price. It will make you feel heartbroken after eating it. Located in the downtown area, there may be many better choices, but they are not so delicious that you have to spend this money, and they are not so delicious that you must eat them. (We stumbled across it while shopping and didn’t particularly check the reviews. When we turned around to write a review, we realized that it had such bad reviews.)

A real tourist trap. I would not recommend it under any circumstances. They do not have a visible price list and, when paying, you are faced with an exorbitant amount for reheated and low-quality food. The dishes, heated in microwaves, are served in plastic utensils, and the prices have no justification. To make matters worse, the treatment by the blonde manager leaves a lot to be desired: a person with very little kindness, a lack of tact and an attitude that borders on rude. It feels like the customer is bothering you more than anything else, which ends up ruining the experience.

Nightmare. The food was not fresh, it was cold and they reheat it in the microwave. It wasnt tasteful either. We paid 180 euro for 4 persons with a soft drink. They put the food to the plates with naked hands, we even found a small black bug in the paelia rise. Unacceptable. Worst eating experience ever!!!! Do not go there!

I would like to warn everyone who is going to eat here: 2 gourmets warmed up in a microwave bowl of kibbeling and 4 bottles of coke for 98 euros. Pure fraud. Forewarned counts for two. Further down the road you can get the same thing for a fair price.

Bad kibbeling in the microwave very bad never again

Underground. wanted a small mixed fish platter to take away. I was puzzled by how it was put into one of the 10 microwaves to warm up. Then came the big surprise. The portion should cost 34 euros. This was followed by a discussion that it was weighed and that was the price. Left it there and didn't pay. This is a complete rip off. I'm not sure if it's even legal that prices aren't posted anywhere on the food or on the counter.
