The restaurant is located right at the pier, very convenient to enjoy food while waiting for the train. The restaurant space is quite warm, hot food is prepared and served immediately to diners. The taste of food is according to local taste, a bit salty compared to tourists from other places.

A packed cozy restaurant, nice woman in the service who was happy to help with portions. Just some napkins on the table would have been useful.

Nice cozy place in Volendan. Quick lunch while in a tour. Soup, Fish n chips and coffee. Quick friendly service and the food was tasty with ample portions. Not sure why it’s not rated higher. Very satisfied.

Lunch break on Saturday. Old environment. In the room where the bathrooms are there it was stuffy/closed. Terrible service, inconceivable not knowing English in a tourist place.

Seabass fillet and grilled shrimp with vegetables 7/10 Goat cheese salad 9/10 Slow service 2/10 We had grilled sea bass fillet with shrimp and vegetables on the side instead of pasta. 7/10 Vegetarian goat cheese was above average 9/10 Their service is super slow and the waiters are a bit rude!

Worst food I had in the Netherlands. The chips seemed old and the fish was horrible and dry. They don't care about service either. Wish I had picked somewhere else.

First of all, its a tourist spot right?, but my and my family's personal experience was not good at all. Food specifically the Fish is very salty, the server is kinda rude. She rolled her eyes when she can't understand our orders in english, im sorry but that was unacceptable. We could'nt have chosen this place if it was'nt raining seeing that day the place was empty and i guess that why. Anyways, i dont recommend to go eat in this place if you happen to come to this area.

VERY RUDE. I ordered a coffee and they gave me the wrong one. When I told the girl it’s not what I ordered, she called the manager over. The manager said if they have to throw the coffee away and make me a new one, the young waitress will have to pay for it. I paid for the coffee without drinking it.

Made the mistake today to have a 'nice' lunch here. When we entered it was already too much effort to welcome us, which probably should have been a signal to turn around. For lunch we ordered kibbeling with fries. A small portion of kibbeling is what you then get, supplemented with a thimbleful of indefinable sauce and a small tear-away bag of mayonnaise to go with the fries. As my partner said afterwards, even my dog ​​would have turned his nose up at this meal and never returned. And we don't even have a dog, but that's besides the point. The kibbeling was tough, extremely salty and dripping with fat. The only thing on the plate that tasted somewhat like fish was the fries. When we politely indicated to the employees that the kibbeling was not edible, the response was a shrug. According to the lady in question, this is exactly how bickering should be. Of which deed. In the end, we barely touched our plates, but we were allowed to pay €100 for a lunch for five people. No apologies, no new attempt to serve something edible, no discount, nothing at all. This is the first time I have left my food untouched in a restaurant. I don't have high standards when it comes to a simple lunch, but if the sole of a shoe looks more appealing than what's on your plate, something is wrong. Be wise and skip this place during a visit to charming Volendam!

We were here this morning with 14 people at 11 o'clock for a cup of coffee and sweets / lunch. I have never been received so poorly in a restaurant. First we were waiting while she had nothing to do, then we asked if she had a spot for us. We were told with a snarl that we could sit at different tables with a face that she would rather see us leave. This restaurant is probably doing too well, so we walked a little further to Restaurant de Vrijheid where we had a delicious lunch with nice, quick and very friendly service!

They have no customer friendliness at this tent. We were almost chased away upon entering. The staff also does not radiate cheerfulness. Really not recommended, never received such a bad reception in a restaurant.

Kibbeling was very tough, the fries tasted like fish. Old fat or fried in the same fat as the fish?

Very good calamari. Sea tongue is good as well. This place deserves more than 3.5 stars.

I spent the entire evening walking back and forth getting drinks because there were no staff around to take drinks. I don't think this is possible. Ordered medium rob-eye for 32.50 but this was just weird. Very unfortunate, especially for that money.

Eenvoudige maaltijden tegen redelijke prijzen.

Wil even reageren op de review van H Raisifar hieronder. Zat op het terras toen hij en zijn vrouw ruzie kregen met de manager. Wat was het geval? Ze hadden zelf drankjes meegenomen en wilden die op het terras opdrinken. Toen de manager hun duidelijk maakte dat dit niet de bedoeling is, werden hij en zijn vorouw boos en begonnen te schreeuwen. Bovendien dreigde ze met een slechte review op Google Maps als ze hun zin niet kregen. Eten kunnen ze niet met een één beoordelen, want ze hebben geen eten besteld. Dat ze de sfeer met een één beoordelen, is toch echt hun eigen schuld. Door een rel te ontketenen rond de zelf meegenomen drankjes, daalde de sfeer inderdaad tot een nulpint. Gelukkig steeg die weer snel naar vijf toen deze asociale toeristen vertrokken.

Consumpties waren prima. Beperkte kaart. Geen diner voor ons.

Een prima verjaardags diner, 4 volwassenen en 2 kinderen. Goed verzorgd en prima van kwaliteit. Gevolgd door een verjaardags kado ( Belgisch bier met glas ). Bedankt voor de goede zorgen, Leo Bout M.S. Jean -Paul

La comida está bien, la dueña es muy mal educada y poco atenta. Food is good enough but the owner is very very unpolite ando rude.

Geweldig gezellig gegeten met 11 personen, de bediening was perfect, erg aardig, lekker eten, goede service, ik gooide per ongeluk mijn bier om, en kreeg een nieuwe van het huis, heerlijk terras met prachtig uitzicht in gezellig volendam, een perfecte dag gehad met zn allen, en niet duur, voor zoveel plezier en zorg...

Lekker eten voor een mooie prijs! Vriendelijk en behulpzaam personeel. Eenvoudige kaart, wat je krijgt is prima! Verder top in orde!

essen war lecker, wir haben Kibbeling und pommes gegessen. Alles schön und gut. Auch schnell zubereitet. Kellner alle freundlich und hilfsbereit. Ruhiges Restaurant, kein tumult, hier kann man mit Familie und Kleinkindern in aller Ruhe essen. Den einen Stern Abzug gibts für die Kellnerin, da sie zuerst die Getränke Bestellung aufgenommen hat und das Essen nicht. Im nachhinein haben wir erst erfahren, dass das eine Fisch-Menü gar nicht mehr verfügbar ist.

Locale carino in una località incantevole. Abbiamo perso un piatto semplice ma molto ben cucinato, staff gentile e prezzi onesti

Fuimos a comer durante una excursión. Pedimos Kibbelin con patatas y nos gustó mucho. La ración era más bien pequeña y la salsa justa. El sitio era tirando a añoso, pero los camareros eran majos. Si hace bueno mejor coger algo para llevar en los puestos de fuera, porque ponen raciones más generosas y el pescado es fresco.

'Ello Chaps! Cafe Restaurant De Groene is a small restaurant located along the waterside in Volendam - in rural Amsterdam. The view from the restaurant is fantastic. We stumbled upon the restaurant during a lunch break of one of the area's tours. The menu is robust, with a variety of soups, sandwiches, and other meal options. When ordering, it's good to ask questions. Example: I ordered a ham and cheese sandwich, thinking it would be a hot sandwich, but it was a cold sandwich. No biggie. Overall the service was good, and the food was too. Cash and credit cards are accepted. Overall I give this restaurant 4 stars out of 5.

Prima ervaring ,geen toeristenhap, hoofdgerecht uitgebreid met ruim groente -,bijlagen,vriendelijke bediening , attenten oplettend. Kortom geschikt voor een tweede bezoek.

Voor de lunch hadden een stokbroodje met kruidenboter besteld en kibbeling met patat. Duurde allemaal erg lang, stokbrood moest nog ontdooit worden en de kruidenboter was hard. De kibbeling was matig van smaak. De bediening was erg passief, zaten alleen maar op hun stoel en lieten ons vrij lang wachten.

Nos plats étaient bons. Par contre, personnel très très désagréable. Forts soupçons de racisme à peine dissimulé de la part de la gérante, qui a un air méchant (elle a refusé deux fois de suite des femmes voilées avec des excuses bidons !). Ne fait pas en sorte que ses clients se sentent bien (on a proposé une table 2pers qui ne nous servait pas pour les gens de derrière -car ils étaient à 3 sur une table de 2 sans que ça gêne la gérante- mais ça n'a pas plu du tout à la gérante qui a demandé à sa serveuse de faire quelque chose, cad leur retirer la table). Je déconseille cet endroit, et n'y retournerait plus, rien que pour la méchanceté et la froideur du personnel

Oude kibbeling (of oud vet?) En mosselen waarin de maggipot gevallen lijkt te zijn. Niet te nakken. Bediening bestond uit een vriendelijk maar onwetend meisje en een hork van een jongen. Geen aanrader. Voor dit eten en deze service veel te veel betaald, maar morgen weer nieuwe bussen vol toeristen die zich af laten zetten, dus wie maalt er om? Welkom op de Dijk in Volendam!

Personeel is niet echt vriendelijk. Koffie is niet nest (uit een kantoorautomaat). Interieur ouderwets. Uitzicht op terras is enige dat goed is (ondanks dat er een huisje voor staat).

Summary: -Food: 2 -Ambiance: 3 -Customer service: -5 Explanation: - Food was average to mediocre, too cooked or not fresh (we had the gambas, mussels, beef stew and sole). - It was cold on the terrace and they didn't turn on the heaters, people would come inside -The customer service: one of us ordered 1 beer from draft (Leffe). Once served, this beer smelled acidic (such as cider) and tasted bad. We drink everyday at any bar/restaurant and we buy ourselves this beer so we know how it smells and tastes. We told the waitress that it wasn't good and wanted the beer bottled or another one. Until there things were ok. When we got the bill we see the 1 beer we hadn't drank is on it. We point it out to the waitress as we don't expect to pay for it. This waitress denies this to us, stating that is was served and it is our problem we didn't like it. We think it is absurd as clearly the beer wasn't in a good state! Then it gets worse: the older waitress (I guess, the manager?) comes and speaks to me in Dutch - no problem, I understand perfectly and reply as I can - stating that she had served 75 beers that day, 74 were good and only that 1 for us we were complaining about and nobody else had before, and that the beer is good! She kept on saying that and even with a little laugh as if because we are foreigners we don't know how a beer tastes... She walked away and talked to other customers and laughing with them. Seriously, is this how you treat your clientele?? It didn't end there of course, at this point, mainly due to the lady's attitude I was not going to pay for that beer. I had to stand up and go to the bar and ask her to please charge us ONLY what we had consumed. She said , in English now: no; I said: ok then we don't pay anything? She replied: ah, that's what you want, not pay. Me: not at all, we want to pay for what was in good state and we consumed! She kept on mocking me, pointing on the menu how the beer tastes, that no one else had complained that day, etc...Saying that everybody was laughing at us at the bar. Didn't she see that she was the one being ridiculous in from of all other customers? Can you believe that from a 90€ bill, of 4 people having dinner and drinks, this lady is fighting for a 4€ beer that is in bad state - we could even have had stomach problems afterwards!- and making the ridicule as we were discussing in the middle of the restaurant?? In the end, after 15min of uncomfortable discussion, she removed the 4€, and we paid for the bill.
