This restaurant is blatantly racist. My group had a confirmed reservation for 12 people, but when we arrived, they only gave us a table for 8 — outside, in the heat of summer. Meanwhile, other Western guests were allowed to dine inside without any reservations. When we questioned this, the captain, Peter, arrogantly stated that he decides who gets to enter his restaurant. It was clear his decisions were based on race, not fairness. Discrimination like this has no place in hospitality — or anywhere. I hope this kind of behavior brings nothing but failure to his business.

Unbeatable quality-price ratio, we ate from the menu and everything was good, especially the soup, very fast and the waiters were very good, they served us in Spanish.

En una palabra; estafa. Éramos un grupo de 4, y habíamos entrado porque nos parecía un sitio bastante acogedor y asequible. No nos podíamos haber equivocado más. La camarera, atenta pero muy desagradable a la hora de dirigirse, se negó a darnos la carta y nos la leyó “por encima” y siempre justificándose, y nos dio un precio de 18 euros (cabe destacar que en Google ponía 17) para un menú del día que consistía en una sopa “““casera””” (sabía a fideos enlatados de supermercado), una pechuga de pollo rebozada que parecía precongelada y un helado de fresa de postre (lo único que valió la pena, y era de lata). Cuando vamos a pagar, nos encontramos con la paupérrima sorpresa de que habían inflado el precio hasta los 22 euros sin explicación alguna y se justificaron dejándonos en ridículo delante de todo el restaurante. Se ve que no es la única ni primera vez que lo hacen, suelen hacerlo a grupos de turistas jóvenes. Además, a la salida, nos han escondido las cartas delante nuestro para que no pudiésemos reclamar. Desde luego que, si hay más opciones, por mas “hostiles” que parezcan, sugiero mil veces pasar de largo y entrar en cualquier otro lugar. No gastaría ni un segundo de mi tiempo ni dinero en volver a pensar en entrar, ni mucho menos en consumir su comida. Horrible.

I ordered a fried fish meal for lunch. The fish was fresh, crispy and not greasy. It was served with French fries and tartar sauce. It tasted good and was a dish that showed your heart. The portion size is just right for lunch, not too filling or empty. The service staff have a good attitude, are quick and friendly, and make people feel that they value their customers. The overall dining process is smooth, but the environment is a bit pity - the distance between the seats is a bit tight, and it will feel a bit oppressive when there are many people, and you need to speak softly so as not to disturb the neighboring tables. If the seating arrangement could be more relaxed, the experience would be more comfortable. Overall, the food and service performed well. It is a restaurant you can consider visiting again, especially if you want to simply eat hot food without stepping on the wrong side.

Dining is comfortable. The tender and delicious fish fillet is what I miss the most. Beautiful Beihai Fish Village.

I came with a group. We were squeezed in so tightly we couldn't move, served at breakneck speed, and the food was not good. I won't recommend it. It's a tourist trap.

Don't go with too high expectations. Vegetable soup is nice. Service is bad, fish is farmed, meat is mediocre by European standards.

9/10💕 THE SOUP EXACTLY TASTES INDOMIEEE SOTOO🥹 One of the places to eat in Volendam that provides soup, fish and chips of course and there's even ice cream... Honestly, it tastes like fish and chips in Solaria, but the fish is really fresh, especially when you add a squeeze of juicy lemon, then add vegetables and small, fresh carrots.

We paid 20€ per person for vegetable soup, fish, potatoes, salad, boiled vegetables and ice cream. Frankly, the fish wasn't very tasty since it wasn't sea fish, but I still can't say it was bad. I can say that it tastes like our trout in terms of taste. The menu was quite satisfying. Overall we enjoyed it.

Eat fish and chips here. The fish is fried in flour and fries on the side, the taste is good and the fish is fresh. Soup as an appetizer, followed by apple pie. Salad is also provided as a complement The place is on the beachfront there is a row of souvenir shops, photo spots and restaurants of Dutch specialties and snacks such as poffertjes, there is also a raw / smoked herring which is said to be delicious but I didn't try it because I didn't like it because it smelled a bit fishy.

Our tour guide recommended this place for lunch as it was 'much speedier' than most others in Volendam. A few of us went based on the recommended good food - which did not disappoint, but the menu was obviously set and we were not given options to deviate. So...after the vegetable soup and bread, fish chicken or beef was the choice. We chose fish, it was sweet with not a lot of taste but the light crumb and fry was delicious. Accompanied by salad, potatoes and veggies. Dessert was icecream - nothing too flash there. Teamed with a local beer and it was a great lunch. Staff were very efficient at serving a group, it was a well oiled machine.

A good restaurant to eat fish and chips. The places we ate at fast food were also delicious, don't worry too much about eating here, the vegetable soup was not bad.

They drop their garbage in a big, black container and put the container 25 hours in front of a house in the street behind their restaurant instead of behind their own building. Two times a week their garbage is standing in the middle of the street in another neighbourhood, while their restaurant is on the Haven. Very respectless people and boss.

The dining space is a bit crowded. When there are more people, it becomes noisy. Fried fish is very delicious, But the soup is just average. Finish the meal with ice cream.

Extremely rude service. We booked tables for our group. The waitresses was okay to us but when the male manager walked in, he was very hostile, and took our plates when we havent even finished eating yet. Some cups were also broken as he took them. He also lied that there are more people waiting but we booked the place and there were no one else waiting, we were forced to leave in less than half an hour.

I had the worst experience at this De Koe restaurant. The male manager was very rude and lied that there were many guests waiting downstairs. Even though there were no other guests waiting. Meanwhile outside the weather was raining and very cold. We booked a place for a group. The food was served rudely, plates and spoons clattered loudly, as if they were not pleased with our arrival. We haven't finished eating yet, but the plates and cutlery have already been taken. Even the excess food we wanted to take home was taken roughly. This is the restaurant with the worst service in the world. I would not recommend this place. Never eat at this restaurant again. Never again.

I have lunch and travelled to may places in many countries, but only De Koe is the worst experince.

Too bad to comment.. rude service. We booked the place for our large group and the (looks like) manager man took our plate while eating and told us to leave. He claimed that there are more reservations but he lied as there were no more people waiting and we booked the tables

Dropped in for a hot chocolate and a coffee and couldn't resist the temptation of a slice of apple pie and cream. The hot chocolate was exceptionally good and the apple pie was full of seasoned apples. A traditional tea house and a lovely experience for our morning tea. The lady who served us was friendly and super efficient!

My wife and I came here as part of a large group tour to Vollendam. While I likely would not have picked this place since my wife and I passed other places that interested more, I must say the service was very friendly and the food was good. We were part of a group of 30 plus and the staff did a great job of getting the pre-set menu to all of us in a timely fashion. We started with a simple soup. For the main we had an option of chicken, fish, or vegan. My wife and I picked the fish and chips. It was tasty, but nothing special. For dessert, we all got the standard ice cream in a bowl. The waitress liked me so I got two. Not bad, but nothing more than average for a large grouping.

Very very rude service. One old guy keep yelling at us as we want to order 2 set menu and share it for 3 people because the portion is too big for us. But he insisted that 2 set meal can only for 2 people and only gave us 2 platings. As we asked for additional plating, he yelled at us again and that’s when one of us just had enough and she left the restaurant feeling insulted. I have no choice but to finish the meal as the waiter already poured the very plain watery so called soup in my bowl. I ordered fish set meal and all dishes are terrible. All dishes are tasteless. The carrots are overcooked and mushy, there’s no chips in the fish n chips and they didn’t give me the bread for the soup. As expected, the portion was too big for me to finish and many food ended up being wasted. Will not recommend this place to anyone and surely will not going back again 👎🏻

We were on an optional tour to Volendam and dinner is settled here at De Koe and I really like this cosy restaurant. The food was good. Never tried such small potatoes before and though kind of oily, you can taste sweetness and soft texture. Fried fish was fresh and I like it this way rather than heavily battered because that is how you taste the fish more in depth. The soup and salad were normal but complements the main dish. Ended the meal with ice cream on a cold weather.

Good fresh food , at a correct price ,I really recommend it !

Not very pleasant experience, workers shouting between them and arguing, also feels like they were gossiping on us. No menu, which we are suspecting different prices between tourists and locals. Feels like one of the managers yawns loudly in order to disturb. One more thing, feels like they were pressing us to leave although the restaurant was almost emty.

A pesar de lo lleno que puede estar por turistas tiene un genial ambiente familiar, aclaro que no desaprovechan un lugar y reacomodan a las personas para que ocupen todo el espacio, así que si no te gusta que de digan donde hacerte podría no ser de agrado. Comida buena, básico menú del sector pero de muy buena preparación, muy buena atención y servicio rápido.

Si estás de viaje en Holanda y pasas a visitar este pueblo pesquero (Volendam) te recomiendo comer en De Koe, la comida no es fantástica pero en precio-calidad está muy bien. Como mexicana una sopita antes del plato fuerte cae de lujo y más después de varios días de comer diferente a cómo acostumbras. Puedes pedir entre pollo (empanizado), pescado o carne, se acompaña de verduras y una ensalada. Al final te dan un postre (helado) todo por 20-21€ una maravilla estando en Europa!

Linda ambientación, personal muy amable, comida sencilla pero bien hecha. Mi hermano cumplía años ese día y le trajeron el postre con una bengala para cantarle el Feliz Cumpleaños.

Nice dishes and service with a comfortable atmosphere

The food was ok but first we ordered pancakes (which is a large portion of the menu) and they didn’t have any. Then we tried to order chicken nuggets, which they also didn’t have. In the end we finally found something on the menu that they had in stock. Wouldn’t really recommend.

No nonsens nog in oude stijl ingerichte zaak die voornamelijk op groepen toeristen draaide maar nu ook beperkte a la carte kaart heeft. En daar worden wij blij van. Geen overdreven over de top hip en happening gerechten maar gewoon lekker simpel een uitsmijter, kroketten met brood en wat broodjes en soep. Lekker kneuterig maar o zo fijn dat er nog zaken zoals deze te vinden zijn. Vlotte bediening en zeer nette prijzen, zeker voor het meest toeristische dorp in Nederland
