The Living Room, by Bodon in Apollobuurt

Due to some visiting relatives who like the attached hotel, I've eaten here 5-6 times and have probably tried every main dish on the menu and half the cocktail menu - It's all great. It's delicious! The sea bream is so good I was tempted to lick the plate. While the whole space feels like a swanky lounge waiting room for the superb Harbour Club - The Living room is itself a wonderful restaurant. The service can be a bit clunky (quite noticably), especially during busy service times as the space doesn't seem optimized to serve a bustling restaurant, but most of the times it was quiet and cozy and we had wonderful service from our regular waiter, who always made the cocktails very strong!

Atmosphere is great, spot is nice and comfortable but the service was horrendous. The server was super pompous and would act like anything you ordered was super inconvenient for him. Quite possibly the worst service I’ve ever had hands-down and this is considering all my international travels. Sad that it is attached to such a great hotel.

Nice atmosphere, but service wasn’t good. The waiters weren’t very attentive so we had to go to them to order. And even then our drinks were forgotten so we had to go to them again and re-order. After dinner we ordered 2 brownies. I asked if the brownies come with ice cream and a waiter told me he can serve it with ice cream. We were served 1 brownie and 1 carrot cake instead (without consulting us) because they apparently only had 1 brownie. (Which was awful btw). You would think that they would apologize for it, but no - not only that when paying we were charged 6 euros for the addition of the ice cream to our brownie order which wasn’t even served right…

My friend and I came two nights in a row because it was absolutely wonderful! Not only was the wine and food great (Bitterballen & chicken gyoza), but the staff were great too! Pantelis was super lovely and made our time very enjoyable. Highly recommend!

Good hotel I had a good shrimp Caesar salad w shrimp in Cajun sauce that was bathed in salt. 26 euro for a cheeseburger w cold burnt brioche, 2 tiny Patties w a thin slice of cheddar, no proper raw rings of onion, and 7 flavorless potato chips instead of proper French fries! I have come here 3-4x during my stay and each time I have had to walk up to the counter bc the waiter (same) on those days just didn’t come to the table or bother w me after getting the food. No checking if more water would be needed… There is A LOT of room for improvement here. 1. Consistent good service 2. Increase the burger size to match the bun. You don’t need 2 Patties . It’s easier to eat 1 patty when it’s the right size. 3. Don’t overdo salt on the food. Don’t burn the food. 4. Every burger should come w ketchup and mustard and fries. No one should have to ask for those things or Rae onion rings.

The plus here is the great atmosphere, view and overall decor. The minus are the service (served food with no cutlery nor napkins) and food.

It was very tasty food cooked in an open kitchen. A casual dining area which is well furnished. Staff are a bit slow at times, but overall, it is a great experience. Nice views out onto the canals with the option to sit outside.

Originally ordered cheeseburger asked if it came with fries no it would be extra. Canceled cheeseburger. When food was brought out she brought the cheeseburger. Told her I canceled it. When I asked my husband to get me ketchup she brought some out. When I tasted it it was Tabasco sauce. She said she doesn't look at what comes out of the bottle when I mentioned it was Tabasco sauce. Went home to canada next day having to stop at washroom a couple of times to be sick. Very malicious because I refused to take something I didn't order.

Originally we wanted to eat at The Harbour Club but they were too understaffed so we tried The Living Room. Next time we will go somewhere else entirely. No one offered to seat us when we walked in, and ordering took a long time so we waited quite some time even for drinks. Our waiter impressed us at first with his ability to memorise our order but come to realise when the food (finally) arrived we were missing some. My sister ordered the entrecôte because the waiter said it was the same as the one from Harbour Club - it wasn’t. It had no sauce with it, and it looked like cardboard and was just as dry. My sister sent it back and the waiter said “It’s not dry, it’s cooked medium. Medium is not dry.” It’s fair if she wanted it rare she should’ve asked, but isn’t it also standard practice to ask a customers preference instead of assuming what they’ll like? After asking twice where the missing part of order was to the other staff, we finally caught the waiter’s attention and he admitted he never gave it to the kitchen. Overall it was a less than ideal experience and a far cry from their website where “the goal is that every guest should leave the restaurant 100% satisfied and look back on their experience with pleasure.” Next time we will spend our money elsewhere.

The worst service experience I've been through anywhere in the world. Let me start by saying the staff was never rude or impolite. At the same time never was an apology offered by anyone for the series of disasters in service that not only we experienced, but seemingly so did many of the other guests. In the end, it took an hour to get a Caesar salad and a bowl of soup (the bread basket never appeared even after a reminder.) We were told something had gone wrong with the computer system which sent the tickets to the kitchen. Maybe so, but what about waiting 10 minutes for a menu, then ten to order, losing the first order, not bringing cutlery and eventually requiring us to go get them ourselves (though they had run out of spoons, an issue for soup?) The point of the this terrible run on sentence is to get across how terrible the service experience was from start to finish. Oh...and the finish just for a final bow on this terrible present was that as I went to pay the waiter noticed he forgot to include our bottle of water and had to redo the bill. Silly me for thinking they might comp a bottle of water in exchange for a 90 minute disaster. Food was fine. Soup came out warm, not hot. Salad was pretty good.

Went by after the kitchen closed just for a drink. One person working who was focused on cleaning up and begrudgingly came to talk to me. They don't make cocktails so I turned to wine. Went through 4 wines on the menu that they didn't have before just asking what they do have. Ended up with a glass of wine that had been open a bit too long. Gave up and went elsewhere.

Excellent ambiance and delicious snacks to go with.

I had lunch there. The place is nice but was empty. The service is good. I ordered a steak rear and it was clearly a frozen product. The cocktail and the wine were very good. Would I recommend this place… not really… but that’s just my experience…

Had the streak tartar and it was really delicious. The seating locations next to the river really do make a difference.

The food and the ambience is great but why call it “the living room, by bodon” although it is written nowhere? This place is inside the hotel but hard to understand that.

Heerlijk gegeten met vrienden, net voor Corona maar ik dacht, toch nog maar even een review omdat het zo heerlijk was! De wijnen waren echt van goede kwaliteit en het eten was zowel bijzonder als heel weg lekker. En de bediening was professioneel en humoristisch. Aanrader.

Located in the Apollo hotel, this Brasserie is a bery nice place for chilling and having a drink in the afternoon and early evening. It has a nice selection of snacks and light bites. You can also find good wines and drinks. Also the view to the channel is great.

Had 5 courses meal. Surprisingly we were full already after the 3rd one. It’s a lot of food! delicious deer, fish and amazing desert at the end

Laatste week eerste keer bij Bodon en 3-gangen menu gegeten. Eten was goed, Prijs was ok, personeel vriendelijk, maar de drankjes zijn veel te duur! Komt op neer, dat je bij een 3-gangen menu voor de drankjes p.p. dezelfde prijs betaald dan voor het eten. Hierdoor was de avond een tegenvaller. Wat bovendien voor ergernis zorgde: Bodon was op de hoogte van Apollolaan 2 niet te vinden, zij hebben geen eigen ingang! Achteraf vastgesteld, dat op postadres Apollolaan 2 drie bedrijven zijn geregistreerd: Bodon, Harbour Club, Apollohotel. Als je dan bij de Apollolaan 2 arriveert, vind je Harbour Club, maar niet Bodon; je gaat op zoektocht, loopt om de hele Apollohal, en tenslotte kom je via Stadionweg (!) en Apollohotel naar het restaurant . Een vermelding op de website of een boord bij de Apollolaan 2 zou ervoor zorgen, dat klanten niet gefrustreerd binnenlopen

Siamo arrivati 1 ora in anticipo apposta per farci un aperitivo nella sala accanto, ed era magnifico cocktail veramente ottimi ben fatti e curati, poi siamo passati al ristorante con un accoglienza veramente di classe! Bellissima esperienza in un posto curato in ogni particolare, ottima cucina, lista dei vini molto particolare, servizio attento e professionale! Ritorneremo di nuovo! Bravi!

Nothing special to warrant the prices. Service v. slow. Not sure why so highly rated. Much better 4.5+ restaurants elsewhere in the city.

Heerlijk gegeten ,dag verse producten, personeel zeer vriendelijk. Zeker een aanrader

Gister avond met z'n 2e uit eten geweest bij Bodon. We begonnen aan de bar met allerlei verschillende gerechtjes en een glas bubbels. Later op de avond verplaatst naar een mooie tafel aan het raam en daar heerlijk verder gegeten met daarbij een hele lekkere fles wijn uitgekozen door de chef. Bediening is vriendelijk, de mensen in de keuken zijn vriendelijk en de chef is ook een topper! Super bedankt! Wij gaan zeker vaker komen eten!

I was so eager to try this recommended spot. I was dining by myself so maybe that is why the service was flat - even after ordering a 65.00 bottle of wine. The food was over saturated in salt and oil/butter an I am a fan of them both!! No magic, no memorable experience.

We werden alleraardigst en zeer persoonlijk ontvangen en kregen een fijne tafel aan het raam met uitzicht op het water. Eten was voortreffelijk, bediening heel sympathiek en attent!

The restaurant looks great and the food was amazing. Also the paired wines were delightful! We were really impressed with a dessert from rhubarb that actually looked like one! Unbelievable and really tasty! Recommended for a special occasion.

Eccellente ristorante francese in zona vecchio Sud. Si entra in una dimensione charmant in cui si viene trattati divinamente e si mangia altrettanto bene. Da riprovare!
