Such a fun LGBTQ friendly bar in the heart of AMS central - bartenders Bob & Joeri were so accommodating and sweet! Our group had so much fun. Fun music & great vibes 🫶🏼

A bar where you can chat and socialize in peace and quiet. There's a show every day; if you like karaoke, Fridays are the perfect day for it. They also have drag shows for a change of pace. Excellent place and very close to Amsterdam Central train station.

The Queen’s Head is just that a ton of ‘Queens’ in a pub. This is a fun way to enjoy the cross-generational experience of being Gay and celebrating it all together. It’s a great spot to have waiting for you at the end of the evening as the Queen is always extremely excited to see you!

Nice show but we were forced to spend a certain amount of money (20-30€) even though we are students. The show was advertised as ,,free entry” but then they kept pressuring us into giving them more and more money. We ordered drinks for 45€ and when we wanted to pay they automatically charged us 60€. This is unbelievable and an insane tourist trap.

It was clear from the start that the bar was just out to get money from us. The event was supposedly free, but when we went to buy our drinks, we were immediately told that each person had to spend at least €20 on drinks. However, they said they wouldn't be paying close attention to individual spending. Then, at the beginning, they demanded a minimum €5 tip from each person, and off we went. During the show, we were repeatedly asked what we wanted next, even though we hadn't finished our first drinks. At the end of the evening, we each had two drinks, costing about €16 each. The plan was to pay and leave a little early. But when we paid, the price was rounded up, and suddenly each person had to pay €20. So, the three of us ended up paying €15 more than we had spent. The money wasn't the problem, but it felt like they were trying to trick us, because if you spend less than €25, you're not welcome there. A real shame.

We've been here twice now, Everyone is so friendly. The acts are brilliant, so funny. Would highly recommend visiting the queen's head.

We had a very disappointing experience at this bar. We arrived as a group, all of us in drag, and were refused entry without any clear explanation. The way this was handled felt anything but welcoming and came across as discriminatory. What makes this even more shocking is that this is a gay bar. You would expect a place like this to be inclusive and a safe space where everyone can be themselves. Being turned away simply for being in drag is both confusing and deeply disappointing. A bar should offer a safe and inclusive environment. Instead, we felt excluded and disrespected. Experiences like this have no place within the LGBTQ+ community. We will not be returning and would advise others to think twice before visiting this place.

My fiancé and I were visiting Amsterdam in March and looking for a queer bar near our hotel. A local recommended The Queen’s Head, and honestly, from the moment we saw the door, we had a feeling we were about to have an amazing night. We were absolutely right. this was our first time in a queer bad and it was honestly such a good experience. The music was incredible, the atmosphere was warm and full of energy, and you could feel the amazing vibes the second you walked in.When the staff found out we had just gotten engaged on this trip, they were genuinely so happy for us and encouraged us to celebrate. It meant more than they probably realized. As tourists and as WLW, we were a little nervous about feeling out of place, but that couldn’t have been further from our experience. We felt completely welcomed, the staff treated us like we were regulars and long time friends, they were absolutely amazing. The DJ was fantastic, the drinks were great, and the overall vibe was cozy, fun, and unforgettable. If our flight hadn’t been leaving the next day, we absolutely would have come back again. We love this place it holds a very special place in our hearts and will continue recommending it to anyone visiting Amsterdam. We can’t wait to return.

Love the friendly staff easy to get a drink and not a huge space so this is like the old school stroll bars or meet up before you head out to the club. Drinks are a little pricey

I was taken along for my birthday weekend. We were there on a day when there were no performances and had to get back on time after the ferry. But I thoroughly enjoyed it; the people were friendly. A dog even came and sat with me, which made for some conversation. I met new people, and there was a welcoming, homey atmosphere. Thank you.

Tuesday night we went to Drag Bingo. It's wise to make a reservation. We were too late with that. We went anyway, just on spec. What excellent service! Because there were only two of us, they went above and beyond, and we got a great spot at the bar where we had a great view of the show. We finally got to see Janey Jacké in person. I can only say we had a fantastic evening. What friendly, easy-going, and lovely people. Definitely worth repeating and highly recommended!!

Really friendly, relaxed gay bar with good classic decor incl. glitter balls, disco lights in the daytime, pop music, candles, and a really nice vibe! If you arrive not too late, it's a great place to chat and have a good time. Besides that, seeing the little dog that walks around the bar is lovely. She goes around to each table to say hello.

The Queen’s Head was one of the best surprises of my time in Amsterdam. I arrived without knowing what to expect and ended up having one of the best nights of my life. The atmosphere is warm, fun, and incredibly welcoming. There was a spectacular drag show, the drinks were expertly prepared, and I ended up meeting some wonderful people. The servers are friendly, attentive, and have amazing energy. A perfect place to have a great time, feel part of the local scene, and be amazed by Amsterdam's nightlife. Highly recommended.

Great friendly queer bar. If you are nice the staff is always nice. They have most drinks cocktails and tap beer, Roberto and Alex at the bar has been great. There’s drag shows every week, come and see Queen Skyla and Queen Bok Choi, give them big tips🤍 each day has a fun theme to try that vibe out.

Awesome little gay bar in a great location in Amsterdam. We popped in for a drink after eating at the ramen place next door and the atmosphere was super welcoming and just as crazy as you'd want. Staff were really friendly and you're served quickly.

I literally took a 20 euro car to come here and the door man told me they are at capacity. As I'm standing two younger guys walk up, he tells them the same thing. 5 minutes later as I'm sitting across the street having a beer, he let's said 2 younger guys in! Then doesn't let 2 girls go in, 5 minutes after the 2 guys. SHADY. Your not that special Queenshead!

Reading the reviews again, a lot goes wrong at The Queen's Head during Pride. This time was no exception. I finished the street party and went inside to return my deposit cups. However, one of the bartenders on duty wasn't keen because, according to him, the cups had fallen off the floor. This wasn't the case, but even if it had, it shouldn't be a reason to refuse a refund. The whole point of the deposit is to keep the cups out of the environment. This wasn't a very elegant story, but it got even crazier when this bartender refused to return my cups. This makes it increasingly seem like there's a business model behind the deposit cups. In one of The Queen's Head's responses to a negative review below, they state that you can return your deposit cup all night long. That's definitely not true. Too bad! P.S. In response to The Queen's Head's response, the following: The deposit system now sounds like a very noble endeavor from The Queen's Head, but it is simply a permit requirement from the municipality of Amsterdam.

I don’t know if this is a fair review or not, I’m not sure if it’s fair to give a bad review on a place you’ve not been in, however…. I turned up here on a Tuesday evening just looking for a like-minded place to have a beer, I was turned away at the door because it was bingo night. The woman on the door said “do you have a reservation” and “it’s bingo night so we can’t help you”

We came for the free open mic comedy show and were so happy we did! Every single person made us laugh out loud, some even brought us to tears with laughter. The staff are super friendly and the vibe is just wonderful.

Fun bingo night! My friends and I had a nice time, and in this review, I just want to mention some info that can be helpful to other visitors. As of march 2025, the bingo fee pp was 15 euro, and they had a mandatory minimum consumption of 20 euro pp.

Visited to watch a drag show in the evening. The venue itself has a very cute decor and vibe. The staff are great at organising groups into the seating areas. That being said compared to other LGBTQ+ friendly venues it may feel that it doesn't cater for all types of people. I was surprised that a queer venue with gendered toilets (i.e. not gender neutral). The drag performance was fun but it felt like it was more catered to the hen/bachelorette party crowd (which on my visit was very large), for example, the queen played a game which split teams based on their genitals which made me, a trans person, feel a bit uneasy. I think overall though the drinks are pretty reasonable the bar is nice and cosy, staff friendly, just maybe not as inclusive as other spots!

Guy on the door said it was full and wouldn't let us in. Place wasn't busy, he was just being a dick.

That was very awesome. We visited this gay bar in Amsterdam city center and we wished we actually lived there! The staff was super friendly and the show that was hosted was perfect! We were on a bingo drag show. The best experience of our lives! We laughed so hard that it is gonna be memorable. Great prices, vast variety of drinks and very nice atmosphere in general.

On my first visit, I was very well treated. However, on my second time, a bald man, who I believe is the manager, informed me that there was a fee to watch the show. His attitude was completely unnecessary, as if he doubted my ability to pay. I do not recommend it.
