Unexpectedly pleased! 2 adults + 2 children. The food was perfect except for one thing: with the mixed grill, the beef was supposed to be medium rare, but it was more rare than medium. However, overall it was very good, 4.5 stars out of 5. The food was really very good. We sat in the middle of the hall and it was, for our standards, very noisy there. That's why I'm giving it 3 stars out of 5 regarding the atmosphere. This is probably because you get that surround effect in the middle. Perhaps a few partition panels could help with that. Service 4 stars out of 5, minor improvements possible. It was a very busy evening for the staff, though; nevertheless, they need to be a bit more attentive to all guests... One more important recommendation: both the urinals and the toilet are much too high for children. Neither of our sons, aged 4 and 6, could reach them to pee...

The food was delicious, and we always sat in a nice spot. However, the service was a bit lacking; they were constantly chatting with each other at the bar. We asked for the dessert menu, but it never arrived. Someone else from the staff eventually brought us the menu. A shame.

The Ranch in Veendam is highly recommended for lovers of a good piece of meat and a cozy atmosphere. This atmospheric Western restaurant offers a unique Latin American Kitchen concept, with an extensive menu full of tapas, tacos, and grilled meat dishes. During my visit, I enjoyed a delicious mixed grill that was excellently prepared, served with tasty fries and a fresh salad. In addition, I enjoyed a few delicious local craft beers. The relaxed ambiance, the friendly and helpful service, and the beautiful surroundings made the experience complete. Definitely a restaurant I would love to return to.

Yesterday we ate at The Ranche in Veendam for the first time and, unfortunately, also the last. Why? We both ordered the trio of tacos and it was a huge disappointment. The meat wasn't warm, at most lukewarm, and the sauces were tasteless. We had the so-called spicy sauce replaced with a sort of chili sauce, but it still wasn't spicy, even though you would expect that with tacos. Beans and corn were supposed to be served on the side, but it consisted mainly of corn, though at least that was warm. Then the tacos: tasteless, cold, and served straight from a packet on the board. Next, we were served fries (?!) on the side. We wondered why no rice with black beans; that seemed more Mexican to us than fries with mayonnaise. We won't even mention the mocktails, because they weren't good either. We had expected more from The Ranche. Every time we drove past, it was quite busy, so you might think it was good. But unfortunately for us, it was a disappointment. Maybe it was the dish we ordered, and it just wasn't something The Ranch excels at. When paying the bill and sharing our experience, we ended up only having to pay for one person. But coming back is definitely not an option…

I came across the ranch by chance. I ordered the meat platter, which was very generous and everything was delicious. The steaks were cooked to perfection. We will be back next year.

We had a delicious meal. Nice ambiance. When the weather is nice, you can sit outside on the terrace by the water. We were there on Saturday evening; it was quite busy, and we had to wait a very long time for our food and drinks. This was partly because the staff were not paying close attention, meaning people who arrived later than us were served first.

The food is good, as is the service. The atmosphere is okay, except for a few families with annoying children... P.S., the tables are very small for 4 people.

Just a drink and a snack. We got a drink and ordered nachos special. It looks impressive, lots of cheese but no flavor. More seasoning would have been nice. And no one came around to ask if we wanted another drink. And that in the hot weather. It couldn't have been due to the crowds. It was actually very quiet.

We come here regularly; we’ve become regulars at the Ranch by now. I actually always go for the bavette. Deliciously tender and always perfectly seared over the fire (not in the pan), which you can really taste. Tasty cocktails and the portions are always good. The service varies sometimes, but nothing extreme. I asked for the name of a chili pepper because I like them so much, and got a free container of peppers to take home because they would be closed for the next few days anyway. Top notch! My friend had an allergy and they said they could take that into account, but then they just served something containing the mentioned allergy without knowing if it contained that ingredient.

We arrived around five o'clock and were able to sit outside, which was a nice start. The service at the beginning was also fine. Up until the starter, everything was still okay. After that, waiting for the main course became a real sport. In the meantime, the table wasn't cleared, as if the waiter thought: "Oh well, the plates are fine here." When the main course finally arrived, five of the eight guests received their plates. The other three had to wait a little longer, and when they finally arrived five minutes later, the first five had, of course, already started. Oh, and that one cola someone ordered with the main course? It never arrived. Maybe it got lost on the way. After the main course, we sat waiting for well over half an hour with all the plates still on the table. We weren't asked if we wanted dessert. Eventually, we grabbed the menus ourselves, picked something out, and had to ask inside if someone would take our order. When the dessert finally arrived, the main course plates were still on the table. So yes, those desserts had to go back, because someone had to come and clear the table first. And as if that wasn't enough: a wrong coffee order arrived that no one had ordered. And to top it all off, the cola that had been ordered during the main course arrived after the coffee after all. The food itself was of mediocre quality, so that wasn't much to brag about either. And oh yes: we ended up sitting there for 3.5 hours. We couldn't leave until half past eight. There wasn't much left for us to be positive about.

Beautiful location, very friendly staff, and truly fantastic food. We had the spare ribs, and they were perfect. My daughter especially praised the delicious fries. It was simply a wonderful evening!

We had a reservation for 5:30 and unfortunately, after 2 hours, still no main course, so we just left...

Personally, I had a very pleasant experience here. The staff is friendly and even waited to see if everything was to our liking. The salmon and the spareribs are sublime!

Worthless place, completely unhelpful

The Ranch – BBQ Package For our visit to The Ranch, we opted for the BBQ package this time. The food itself was generally fine, but there are a few areas where there is real room for improvement. The package was supposed to start at 6:00 PM, but at 5:50 PM it was not possible to order a drink without paying for it yourself. That feels unnecessarily strict and sets the tone somewhat less hospitable. Once the grillmaster started, the first dishes arrived quickly. The spreads and various types of bread were well-presented. Tasty potato wedges and satay sauce were ready in the bain-marie. This was followed by several salads, beautifully presented and with a great taste. The first sausages and satay skewers were well-prepared and made for a tasty start. With the meal, I had a glass of red wine; it was “drinkable,” but that is about it. Fortunately, the white wine (Schörle) was a better alternative. In a later round, we were served a pork chop and a burger. Unfortunately, the burger was grilled for too long, causing it to become a bit dry. What stood out: at a BBQ, you would expect at least a white, blonde, or wheat beer, but these were not included in the package. That feels like a missed opportunity. The package ended after exactly three hours. There was no option for a small dessert or a cup of coffee to finish off, which makes the whole experience a bit abrupt. Conclusion: Overall, it was an okay experience. The food is mostly fine and plentiful, but the strict time rules and the lack of a dessert or coffee diminish the experience. My advice: Be less strict with the time Add a small dessert or coffee Consider pairing a few suitable beers with the BBQ With those adjustments, the package could really be improved significantly.

My beef tenderloin was just very cold. Not very child-friendly either. It was simply warmed up and I got the same piece back.

Allergies were not properly taken into account. I asked several times, and eventually I was served something for which the cook said he had thrown away the packaging and didn't know what was in it. Why put it on the table then? A substitute sauce was curry from a bottle (a weird combination) instead of sour cream, and the guacamole should be fresh in a restaurant like this, not from a packet. (Then you know what's in it, too.) The meat was lukewarm. The atmosphere was good. And the rest of the service was fine.

Beautiful restaurant. We go there regularly and always receive a friendly welcome. The tenderloin steak is definitely our favorite and truly delicious. Compliments to the friendly staff and the delicious food.

Nice American steakhouse with very good shortribs and lovely mocktails and lovely dessert named drunken mexicano. It was my first time here, but i will definitely go again to try other food.

Well...today I experienced something I've never experienced before. According to the waitress, we had to finish our appetizer rolls (you know, bread with herb butter) before she could let the kitchen know we could get our main course (in short, have it prepared). In short, if I'd kept quiet, I wouldn't have had any food after 1.5 hours. Finally, after 1 hour and 15 minutes, a main course arrived. Lame excuses and the offer of coffee or tea on the house. I passed on that feeble offer as well. Such a shame. Finally, I had dinner out in Veendam, and this. I'd rather not have to do it again. Truly a shameful experience.

Had Christmas dinner here for the second time. The food was delicious, generous portions, and the service was friendly and the atmosphere was pleasant. I just had to wait a long time for dessert (the second). Otherwise, it was a lovely experience on Christmas Day.

The Ranch Veendam – never again Friday evening (November 28th) we dined there for the first time as a family of four. Two people suffered severe food poisoning that same night (vomiting, diarrhea, fever). On Saturday, I called the owner, De Uniken. His response: "You shouldn't complain, it happens." No apologies, nothing. The first time was the last. Strongly discouraged.

Absolutely not recommended. The spare ribs had to be cut with a sharp knife and were very dry, which is absolutely not typical of well-made spare ribs. The chicken skewers were good in terms of flavor, but also cooked a bit too long and therefore dry, and the nachos had blackened meat on top. The fries, on the other hand, were undercooked, making them limp and tasteless. Moreover, the service wasn't the most cheerful or friendly. So, all in all, I wouldn't recommend it in terms of quality, especially considering the prices. You'd be better off driving to the steakhouse in Westerbroek...

Perfect portions. The starter, main course, and dessert were all delicious and plentiful. The service was friendly and unobtrusive. The atmosphere is cozy, atmospheric, and beautifully themed. Ample parking is available.

I found this place by accident and decided to go there a few days later. I was truly not disiponted. We had a 3-Course meal starters main and I had a the dessert. The starter was delicious at first but the portion was a bit to much after a wile the food tasted oily. How ever it was truly delicious. The main course was on a different level. We orders the ribeye stack and is was better than I expected it to be. It was cool to perfection. The plating was exquisite in it own way and the flavours blended perfectly. I end our night with a delicious chees cake with ice-cream witch was plated randomly but yet made completely sense. It work extremely well together and the taste... The taste was incredible. Creamy, sweet, savory with shot of some kind of liquor. Not sure what it was but every made to perfection with presintation. I am truly impressed with this place

The food was delivered very quickly, but unfortunately, everything was cold when it arrived, except for the fries. The fries were still warm and crispy, but the rest of the food wasn't at the right temperature, which was a shame. Speed ​​is good, but the food quality could be better.

Tonight, we had a buffet here with over 90 people from Hydro Hoogezand. I had high expectations, but it was very disappointing. Bone-dry bread, raw hamburgers that we returned (they were accepted without a word or apology), lukewarm and even cold skewers in the containers. One of the salads was excellent, but I wouldn't give it more than a 6.

Yesterday we wanted to have a drink and some snacks at the ranch. The reception was truly rude. The woman with dark hair and black glasses curtly told us with a hand gesture which side we could sit on. We had to unlock the door ourselves because she didn't bother to come with us. Where the sun was shining on the terrace outside, there were no chairs. I asked inside and was asked if I really wanted to sit on a chair. Um, yes, you're sitting in the sun there. "Okay, I'll be right there," was the answer. By then, we were done with it. We had a lovely sit on the terrace overlooking the park.

Very nice ambiance. Food was OK. Onion and tomato soup were tasteless. Mushroom cream sauce was like a finished product.

It looks beautiful and the food is good. We had to wait over an hour for our main courses, and then they forgot our children's menus, so we couldn't even eat together. We had to ask for cutlery and napkins ourselves. Worthless!

Nice "American" restaurant. My spare ribs were good, but my wife's nachos weren't so tasty. Far too many nachos, and not enough sauce or any side dishes! More than half of them went back... I wonder: Why isn't there American music playing in the background?

We reserved a table for 3, for 20:00. When we arrived, it took 20 minutes to get the menus, including drink menus. Then it took too long for the staff to come back and take our order, and later we were told that the salmon was out. All in all it was 22:00, and we had barely finished our food, while the staff was putting the chairs and tables away, making us feel very unwelcomed. This is something we'd understand if we had been slow, but this was caused by their own speed, and decisions. It also made us skip dessert, which we would have had otherwise. At checkout I voiced my complaints and paid full price.

A real foodie hangout, so to speak. We had to wait about half an hour for our starters, the carpaccio was bland, the main course meat was tender, the steaks were not seasoned properly and were not hot but lukewarm. The herb butter was tasteless, and the bread was also tasteless. It was also disappointing that there was only one small container of fries for all of us (5 people) to share, and an even smaller container with some salad, also to share—far too little for several people. It also took an hour after the starter for our main courses to arrive, and we waited almost half an hour for dessert. The chairs were uncomfortable, especially with the long wait for dishes—not good for your back! We spent over 315 euros, which wasn't really worth it, but the service was polite.

The meat was of good quality, nothing to complain about. Unfortunately, the service left much to be desired: drinks weren't automatically refilled, and we had to ask for cutlery and to order. Furthermore, the wait time was quite long. A shame, because with a little more attention and effort from the staff, the experience could have been much better.

The food is excellent, and everyone had a different meal. The ribs are fantastic! Parking is easy and free. Clean restrooms. The service was okay, but not engaging (another day at the office). Will we come back again? Absolutely, for a special occasion.

The atmosphere in this bar is surprisingly intimate, with a decor that feels simultaneously rustic and modern. The music is carefully chosen, not too loud, making conversation easy. The drinks are carefully prepared, and the staff exudes a relaxed friendliness without being intrusive. A place where you can simply enjoy the moment without any fuss.

On the way to Germany we arrived at 15:00 with the idea to have dinner already. Then it turned out that dinner is only served at 17:00, information that is missing from the website. The choice fell on three starters and that was not a bad choice, perfect food. And perfect service. So much so that we decided to eat at The Ranch again on the way back, but then at 19:30. We had made a reservation, but despite the fact that we had received a confirmation by email (and a reminder email) we were not in the system. Didn't matter, because we wanted to sit outside. The food was great again, but this time the service was terribly lacking. Apparently because we were sitting outside we were simply forgotten. Time and again I had to go inside to make a request known. And that is really a shame.

We're French, and we came for the TT. We loved the place and the food. The meat is delicious and the waiters are very friendly! We'll be back if we're passing through again.

We wanted to eat at The Ranch, by pure coincidence I met someone from our neighborhood (Nijkerk) we had not reserved a table while our acquaintances had reserved a table. There was no table for my son, wife and me, everything was fully booked, suddenly the reservation of our acquaintances turned out not to be in there, then you would apologize as a restaurant and still make an effort to arrange a table. This was not done, not even an apology. Our first experience with this restaurant was bad and therefore also the last. Then we had a nice meal with the 5 of us at Parkzicht, it was delicious and cozy!

We recently had dinner and unfortunately the experience was disappointing. My table companion had a well-filled nacho dish that was very well received. I had chosen a salmon dish, but the vegetables that were served with it (in the pan) were unfortunately completely burnt and pitch black. The salmon itself was still edible, but the dish was far from complete or tasty. (it was also strange that it was served like that) In addition, my dish arrived about ten minutes later than that of my table companion, which is a shame when you are dining out together. During dinner and when paying, we indicated three times that the food was not up to par. Although we received polite apologies from the staff each time, unfortunately nothing was done about it. When paying, we still had to pay the full amount, something that could have been done differently. The service was friendly, but there is a lack of follow-up and hospitality when something goes wrong. Hopefully more attention will be paid to this in the future.

I am not really an employee but a real guest and I pay attention to everything. So actually I am difficult. But since I have been at the Ranch I have not been able to find anything that disappoints me. I drag family and friends to the Ranch because I consider it my favorite restaurant. A friend of mine could not finish her meat, and the waitress came by to check if everything was to her liking. When she indicated whether she could take it home, I thought... now it comes. But I was out of the game in 2 seconds. The waitress reacted so professionally. "Of course ma'am, I will take it from you, I will pack it nicely and you will get it back, so that you can enjoy it again tomorrow." And that is how it happened, neatly packed. Well then you score points with me. It is those little things. The Ranch notices that very well. And yes then I am happy. But I am a type, if you mess it up I will never come back. But I think I am a regular at the Ranch.

Today I had a department outing at this restaurant with my colleagues. A BBQ, food was prepared by a staff member, with casino. The BBQ was well arranged and well prepared. Had a pleasant afternoon.

What a disappointment! Made a reservation and confirmed this afternoon, but upon arrival they knew nothing about it. No resolution, just a shrug and a lame "sorry." We were allowed to wait under a staircase until someone had finished eating. When the service was also rude, we were done with it. Left without eating. Bad service, unfriendly staff. Scandalous! We are not used to this from this location. Normally we eat well here.

Yesterday we were in this great restaurant for the third time. The atmosphere is beautiful and very cozy, which is why the 110 km journey is worth it for us. Table reservation worked great. We recommend the juicy spare ribs. The taste is great and the price/performance ratio is also right. It was a great evening.

The food is absolutely amazing! Location and interior also nice! Service... Well... They weren't that interested in us, even though there were only few tables occupied.
