Unfortunately, the minced steak was not fresh but thawed. The owners were not Mexican or Argentinian. Not recommended.

Spent three days near Enschede from The Hague. Ate at The Saloon twice. Nice cozy restaurant with a hospitable welcome. Enthusiastic friendly owner surprised us the second evening with some extra dishes. The food was fantastic. Menu for 32.50 euros, large portions, bottle of house wine only 22 euros. Spare ribs are recommended! It exceeded our expectations.

I have to complain about The Saloon in Enschede. We were welcomed in a friendly manner, and that was where our pleasant dining experience ended. I like to treat myself to a cocktail, so I was looking forward to a nice Margarita. What I got was a lemonade glass (see photo) with a kind of cross between a Mojito and a children's party. No salt rim, but a large bunch of mint. When I asked if it was a Mojito, I was assured: no, this is a Margarita. They took it away to "check" and yes, it came back. Same glass. Mint out. Lime out too. Still no salt. Well... Then: waiting. Twenty minutes before we could even order, while it was not busy and there were enough staff parading around. Eventually we were allowed to pass on our food. The nachos with chicken? Well. Dry, cheap chips with three pieces of chicken (admittedly tender but bland), some undercooked onion, melted cheese and a blob of red sauce. No jalapeño in sight. And I love jalapeños.... Main course: Tristan's rib-eye – birthday yesterday, you mean festive – was anything but festive. Didn't get the best piece of meat, and certainly not what you hope for on your birthday. My shrimp fajitas looked nice (the owner even asked if he could take a picture of them, while I just wanted to eat), but the taste was... well, gone. And my tortillas were cold by the time everyone finally had their plates. A ten-minute difference between the first and last plate on the table is not exactly what you call cozy eating together. When it got quieter in the restaurant, they suddenly got in a hurry. The door was opened twice and a draft started. The first time I closed the door myself, because there was suddenly no staff to be seen in the restaurant. They were stuck in the warmer kitchen. The second time there was a lost waitress, who I asked to close the door again...she acted like I was crazy. Milan was still eating when his plate was almost snatched away, and not even a minute later they asked if they could bring dessert yet. Uhm, he's still eating? Desserts for the boys were disappointing (yes, I know, I use that word a lot, but that's the common thread). Thijs and I didn't even get the chance to order coffee or dessert. We ended up leaving almost 200 euros lighter, and I felt more angry than satisfied. Tristan asked if he could eat something at home... At 9:00 PM we were outside again. The reservation was for 7:00 PM. You would think there would be plenty of room - but we mainly felt pressured to get out. Next time, just go to Carlina’s, right next door. I honestly regretted not doing that this time. The Saloon? More of a letdown than a western experience. Giddy-up... and go!

You can eat very well here. Especially the Calamari here is so tasty. And the meat is also of good quality. The service is super friendly and helpful.

The restaurant is located in the center of Enschede, in a charming alley lined with older buildings. The food is very good, and the atmosphere is pleasant. The prices are significantly higher than in nearby Germany (which is more common in Dutch restaurants), but the value for money is still good. I'd definitely be back!

Ate with you for the first time. Nice welcome by very friendly employees. We only came in around 8:30 PM on a Saturday evening for a bite to eat and it was no problem at all. Food was good, meat tender and tasty and the empanadas also delicious! We will come back more often. Thank you!

I've tried several restaurants in Enschede and was pleasantly surprised with my experience at The Saloon this week. The atmosphere is fun, service was outstanding, and my meal - pretty darn good. My only complaint is that the salsa is too bland but maybe Dutch taste buds can't handle anything more spicy. Be sure to ask to heat it up if you do like spicy. Met the owner - made us feel very welcome. Will definitely return!

Sunday September 15, 2024, 5:20 PM: The atmosphere and service were excellent, nothing to complain about. On the wall side of the room there are bench seats with a table for 4 people. Our table wobbled. The food served (3 pieces of grill menu €17.50) was, in my opinion, at the level of cafeteria quality. The accompanying salad was without dressing. The pre-served nachos with red sauce also had nothing Mexican about them. So all in all I didn't notice much of the real Mexican cuisine. Then about the served vegetarian bean dish (tortilla with vegetables). Not a single Mexican touch that you would expect. The dish tasted just like a world dish from the supermarket. From a culinary point of view, there is really more to be achieved here. The people who run the restaurant do not have a Mexican or Argentinian background.

Very nice place with super tasty food! best Calamari in town. Everything was served quickly and was cooked to perfection. The side dishes of fries/potatoes were also very nicely seasoned and very crispy. Plates were served hot and you were also duly informed about this. There was more than enough meat and it was all very tasty with lots of flavor. The staff was also very friendly and regularly asked if everything was okay. Price-quality ratio is also good.

We had a delicious meal at the Saloon, the meat was well seasoned, nice and tender and cooked. The sauces also tasted very good. Nothing was too greasy or salty. The sorbet also tasted very good. The service was great, very hospitable and cordial. I did find one point for improvement and that was the coffee, which was weak, I prefer a strong cup. The double espresso was a little closer to what a regular coffee might taste like.

Had a delicious meal at The Saloon. We were warmly welcomed. We opted for muchos nachos as a starter with minced meat and chicken, delicious to share between the two of us. As a main course we took the Tex-Mex dish for 2 people. Tasty and more than enough for 2 people. Dessert was fine and an aperitif on the house. Good price-quality ratio and very hospitable!

Food is not that special but good. The staff is hospitable and they regularly check whether everything is as desired. Cleaning could be better: sticky floor and dust traps in the toilet (also look above) and the pressure plate was attached with adhesive tape.

Wij hebben er met een aantal personen gegeten en gebruik gemaakt van de 3 gangen menu voor 32 euro. Kwaliteit en prijsverhouding is hier goed. De eigenaar die een praatje maaken aan tafel en niet moeilijk doet als je wat extra wilt.

Zojuist hier gegeten met onze kinderen. Wat een fijne sfeer en gastvrije bediening en eigenaar! Het eten was met aandacht gemaakt en smaakte heerlijk! Zeker een aanrader! Onze complimenten!

Wat een leuk en goed restaurant ! Hier word je op je wenken bediend en niks is teveel gevraagd! Binnen ook erg leuk en warm ingericht. We komen graag nog eens bij jullie terug!

Kann mich denn positiven Bewertungen nur anschließen. Mein Foto ist leider nicht so gut gelungen, vor Ort sieht der Teller viel besser aus. Für mich gehört zum Leckeren essen auch ein guter Service und beides bekommt man hier. Geht einfach mal rein.
