Lovely old brown pub where you immediately feel at home.

Super cozy little pub in Den Burg. Has a bit of an English atmosphere. Solid selection of beers and a cool looking older gentleman as bartender (probably owner). Reasonable prices.

I haven't stepped into such a nice traditional pub in a long time! Great staff! A variety of beers and good service! I recommend it to everyone who is in Den Burg.

I read Katinka's review yesterday. Last year, a little guy playing billiards made us pass by this pub! He stands at the billiards table with friends and has an opinion about everything with his tattooed girlfriend. For instance, he thought we were standing too close to the table and, with pupils like saucers, asked if I was standing there to get a better look at the tattooed girl... an intrusive, atmosphere-defining little guy! It's a shame that a guy like that is apparently still walking around.

We have been coming here for years and by now know very well what kind of establishment this is. Hospitality is held in very high regard here, and we always feel welcome. And by the looks of it, we are not the only ones who think so. Last weekend, we were guests there again. Now that I am rereading the recent reviews, I feel compelled to respond, because I cannot stand injustice. What I witnessed myself that afternoon is quite at odds with the picture painted in some reviews. The man in question was absolutely incapable of behaving properly and even snapped at a regular guest who was trying to protect his daughter. The staff were not even given the opportunity to respond because the gentleman left the establishment in a fit of rage. Björn, just think of it this way: ultimately, these are the people you would rather not have in your establishment anyway. Don't let these kinds of reviews get to you. You are doing a good job, and we will gladly keep coming here!

It is remarkable to read that a father is described as a “small, bald little man” with a “way too young girlfriend.” Small correction: it was his daughter. And he wasn't intimidating her, but simply standing up for her. His daughter had already been waiting for about six minutes when another man tried to cut in line in an elitist manner. The “small bald little man” in question simply said: “I think this girl was first.” To that, he immediately received a rude response with the words “What do you want, you bastard”... from a man who is about two meters tall, while he himself is not even 1.70 meters. The remark about the warm raisin bread that followed was clearly intended as dry humor. The man in question was even able to laugh about it at the time. The father, however, remained serious, because he wasn't interested in a fight at all. He was simply standing up for his daughter, who was politely waiting her turn. The fact that the wife of the man in question subsequently leaves a negative review for the father's regular pub makes the story somewhat remarkable. A father standing up for his daughter because someone is trying to cut in line: you could almost call it #womaninneed. It would be a shame if such a one-sided portrayal damaged the good relationship between a regular and his pub. Sometimes it really isn't more complicated than: waiting your turn. I am posting this comment because #standupforinjustice

Super cozy old-fashioned 'Brown pub'. In a very beautiful, picturesque little town center.

Ordered 2x High Beer and 1x High Wine via Social Deal... Received super friendly service... The explanation was also good... My son and I had the High Beer... told them what we liked... and left the choice to them... Much more fun than choosing yourself... if it doesn't taste (that good)... then just tough luck... In our case: all super tasty stuff... Highly recommended... just explain well yourself what you like... and then just have a good look around... and relaxxxx...

Old, established pub. We stopped for a drink. The server initially brought my wife the wrong drink. It was corrected, but without an apology.

Very friendly service. WOW! Had delicious drinks on the terrace. Nice interior of the place. Clean toilets. I would love to come back here.

We had High Beer and High Wine. 3 glasses with some small snacks. It was mainly very cozy and the beer was good. They didn't have much wine, as it is a beer café, but the wine they did serve was tasty! More than 400 beers on tap, so more than enough choice. We had reserved at the other location, but due to a staff shortage, we received a call asking if we could come to the brown café instead. As compensation, we received a nice glass of wine and a beer. We enjoyed ourselves on the beautiful terrace.

Beer was good but not €9 per 330ml good. Definitely overcharged as we were tourists and bar tender was not that friendly. Don’t recommend this place. As per request of the bar: we arrived at the bar around 7-8pm and ordered a gulpener on tap.

A bit scary when you walk in as a tourist and the owner makes a weird remark and the owner's wife doesn't even look at you when you ask something. The waiter is great.

If you're on texel make sure to visit de Slock. The high beer 🍺 is an excellent value, and free soup 2nd Saturday of the month. Will definitely be back!

A really nice place with a really friendly host and an amazing selection of craft beers. It's lovely to sit in the conservatory and watch the shoppers. We had our pictures taken at least five times in an hour 😃.

Nice traditional Dutch pub, pleasantly busy. We had a "high beer" there. It was great, with the bartender explaining the different beers and some tasty snacks.

Had two wonderfully enjoyable evenings. And that as "outsiders." Plus, they have a great beer selection, which even surprises the bar staff. Well, how fun!!!!! Vacation on Texel...so we checked if there was a good Social Deal. And yes, at the Slock! Let's do that 👊 We had a nice time today. Great price for one delicious bite! Delicious sandwich of the day (with egg salad), a nice cup of coffee, and a delicious pastry (a Kasteeltje this time). Excellent service, lovely outdoor dining. Definitely a nice place to grab a small snack and/or drink. (both outside and inside, of course). They also have various types of BEERS! Terrace in front of the shop and another terrace across the street! 👌 Of course, you can also go there without the Social Deal....

If you are a tourist, do not go here. They tried to scam us with the price without giving receipt. When found out, the manager tried to power-trip with checking IDs and did not accept European IDs saying it's not Dutch.

Coziest brown cafe on Texel! They organize fun events or theme parties every weekend. The bitterballen are really good, delicious changing (local) special beers on tap, they can also tell you a lot about them. In the summer you can sit here on the terrace and in the winter it's nice and warm inside with various sports on TV, and during the European Championship you can often watch football on 6 screens and a large projector! Something is organized every weekend with fun DJs or bands, then it is really a party cafe until the late hours, you must have been here! Keep up the good work Bjorn and staff, I really feel at home here, you have really put the cafe on the map again!

They know how to make tasty beers here. Visited here on October 19, 2024 with a group of 12 people. Various specialty beers were tasted and consumed. Recommended!! The bitterballen here are really great. And the bartender Rick (I think that's his name) understands it all very well. Keep it up and we would love to come again. PS that Jopen 4 grains is really the best!!

We had a wonderful New Year's Eve at De Slock! We were warmly welcomed with champagne and oliebollen. Dutch records played all night long. The bar staff are very friendly. Unfortunately we were unable to attend the countdown, as the café did not open until after New Year's Eve. Good to know: in Den Burg there are no bars open during New Year's Eve where you can countdown.

We were there on Friday...the beer collection is awesome. The DJ did a great job and I met a few nice People, especially Judica. Thanks :)

Wij waren met een schoolklas uit Rotterdam in Den Burg beland en wilden graag de wedstrijd van Feyenoord kijken. De wedstrijd begon echter al om 14:00 terwijl het café pas om 16:00 opent. Wij belden met de eigenaar en die besloot de zaak eerder voor ons te openen zodat wij de wedstrijd bij hem konden kijken. Extreem goede service en een uitermate vriendelijke eigenaar! Deze actie maakte onze dag en zullen wij niet vergeten! Kortom, vijf-sterren service bij de Slock!

Musik, viele Menschen prima Musik. Wir hätten ewig dort bleiben können..

We zaten iets eerder dan t open ging. Maar dan was geen probleem. Super aardig en hartelijk werden we ontvangen. We hebben lekker gebiljard. We konden zeker terug.

De eerste intentie was om de quali van de Zandvoort.. helaas begon dat een uur eerder en kregen we de boel niet aan de praat. Tomeloze inzet van de eigenaar. Heerlijke palet aan speciaalbieren (254 stuks). Superleuke stek om hier te zitten. Jongeman achter de bar pouleerde de glazen. Dat zie je maar weinig. Mooi bruin cafe wat aan alle verwachtingen voldoet.. kom hier beslist weer terug.
