Upon arrival, the staff didn't know what the Pearl of the Month was (it's actually on the menu). After ordering and eating the first round, we went for the second. It turned out that 4 of the 12 dishes were regularly out of stock... there were 6 people eating. (A bit odd.) After finding something... a satay, it was served... cold and barely thawed. After that, the staff lost interest in the customer and only in themselves. A very bad experience. Never again. At the counter downstairs, it was positively reviewed and responded...

4.25 for a beer that isn't even cold, we were with a group, the food is really tasty and the service was also nice, but if you charge your son a price, I think they should provide a cold beer or drink, although I think that is a minus point in the whole of Van der Valk!

Last week we were going to eat here. We made a neat reservation in advance online via the Tokan website itself. Keuring received a neat confirmation. When we arrived at the restaurant it turned out to be closed😡 We went to the reception of the hotel, the employee told us that the restaurant was closed due to the corona crisis, and that this could be seen online on the website. The employee then went to look at the website and indeed saw that it was not mentioned on the site. Now a few days have passed and it still says that it is open! Too bad, I have been to Tokan more often before, the food is good! And it is a super good asset for Hoorn. Only you miss someone who takes responsibility like in a smaller restaurant. I understand that this is difficult with a chain like Van der Valk, but someone who feels responsible for these kinds of things should be possible I think. So adjust it!

Super-fresh sushi sometimes takes a little longer, and you can taste it. Be aware of that! We've eaten here several times and it's always consistently good. The service is exceptionally friendly, and the manager, in particular, is fantastic. During our previous visit, we asked for low-sodium kikoman sauce (with a green cap). The manager promised us it would be available next time, and she kept her promise—great! We'd love to come back soon.

Today, after a previous good experience, we went here for dinner again. How do you explain that?... The quality of the food is impeccable. However, the speed of service is. An hour between courses is simply too long, especially when no attention is paid to the drinks service in the meantime. We went for the three-course menu, but after 2.5 hours, we decided to skip the third course. The staff could have informed us in the meantime that the kitchen was struggling to cope with the crowds. A free drink or a gesture would go a long way in easing any irritation. For example, they could have chosen to give us the sushi, which we ordered as finger food for the appetizer, as a gift for the evening's proceedings, instead of presenting the bill with a 3* three-course menu and acting as if it was all perfectly normal.... Sorry, but truly awful.

After waiting half an hour for our drinks, this turned out to be a harbinger of the rest of the evening. On average we waited more than an hour between courses with empty glasses. No one seems to notice anything, sometimes it is seen but we don't do anything with it. Food is delicious, but waiting so long for it ruins the evening. Even the bill takes more than 30 minutes to arrive..... very unfortunate. In the end we only had two of the three course menu... patience was gone

The simplest wrap you can make. It's dry, disgusting, and not cooked through. Simply inedible. And then you confront the guy about it. You get an uninterested answer. And the "kapjeon" (coffee)—I've never had such a dry "kapjeon" in my life, and then €11 for a half-full container... it's a shame we picked it up... but back home in Groningen, you get what you pay for. But I'll never go back to this place...

Enjoyed three courses, very tasty! Unfortunately, the duck was missing a sauce...it was still delicious. The highlight for me was dessert! Pine needle mousse! Delicious!!! I didn't know a Christmas tree could be so delicious.

Ordered two white carpaccio rolls. After 45 minutes, it finally arrived. One white and one non-white roll. Okay, another 45 minutes to wait, so no white. Salt and pepper were added, but the salt shaker was broken at the bottom. The lady disappeared with it, and no more salt was seen. The carpaccio turned out to be quite tough pork. Unfortunately. When we paid for two rolls at €14.00 and two drinks, we were charged €80. After protesting, it turned out to be a mistake, but I had heard the same thing from the table next to us. They were charged €41 for three hot chocolates. After one of them protested, they said: oh, I see now, it was a mistake, unfortunately. I don't think it was a mistake, just a rip-off.
