I have never written a review before, but I am happy to make an exception for Torii Sushi. Since we discovered Torii Sushi, we don't order sushi anywhere else. The quality and taste are excellent and, without a doubt, the best we have tasted. Moreover, they have a wide variety of sushi rolls and sides, and everything is halal. What also stands out is the care and attention with which everything is prepared and delivered. These people work incredibly hard, and you can taste it. Regardless of the time of ordering, the food always arrives warm, fresh, and well-packaged. Any comments regarding the order are also always taken into account. All in all, we are very pleased with Torii Sushi. Once you have tasted their sushi, you won't want anything else!

I have ordered here often because they have a lot of cool veggie options. I can highly recommend the crispy veggie rolls and veggie gyoza! It often takes quite a while for the order to be delivered (1-1.5 hours), but that is always the case with sushi, so I usually don't mind that too much. Tonight I ordered at 18:20 and the order arrived about 3 hours later. I called after a little over an hour and a half and the guy on the phone said they were about to start on my order. I called again an hour later and was told that the delivery driver was about to leave. It is a 5-minute bike ride from my house. They were nice on the phone though; he apologized and I was allowed to choose something extra. Eventually, it was delivered around 21:15, with the extra item and extra wakame. All in all, it was resolved fine as far as I'm concerned, but I would have appreciated it if they had just been honest that it was going to take a while. For example, because it's busy, or because they forgot my order or something like that. Judging by the other reviews, it happens often that people say multiple times that "it's really almost on its way now." I really understand why they say that, but when it's super busy, it's a bit easier to show empathy for a delayed order than for a promise you can't necessarily keep. Additionally, it would be nice if they brought the expected delivery time in the apps a bit closer to the truth (usually 1.5 hours instead of 45 min). Because, as mentioned, sushi usually just takes quite a while, and that's really not a problem if you know what to expect.

Ordered at 6 PM and didn't get food until 8:30 PM, on a Monday 🥴 The sushi was okay but not really worth the wait

Truly the very best sushi in Utrecht. My favorites are the softshell box and the crispy sushi. It is all prepared fresh. I rarely order sushi and the rice is still semi-warm; it is truly delicious!

We order here regularly. But only because we really like a few rolls. So no complaints about that. But still, this was the last time. After a few previous experiences, we know by now that if you are hungry, you have to order well in advance, because prepare yourself for a delivery time of at least 2 hours. And every time you call, the delivery person is supposedly just out the door. This time, it was really the breaking point for us. Having to call 4 times, 4 different shitty excuses. Too bad, because the food is good. But just shitty organization.

Really great service, which makes such a difference. The food was also absolutely delicious and fresh. Everything tasted great and was beautifully presented. We'll definitely be back. The sushi is fantastic, but it takes at least two hours to arrive. We've ordered from here many times, and it's never arrived before a two-hour wait. Whenever we call to ask where it is, the delivery driver is always on his way. For that reason, we won't be ordering from here again.

Because I've had problems with delivery before and, like many other reviews, had to wait two and a half hours, I figured I'd order it and pick it up myself. But this time, too, I had to wait half an hour (!!!) longer than the estimated time. The staff were also extremely unprofessional. If you don't accept the long wait with a smile, you're literally yelled at and intimidated. I'll never come back here.

Today we went to Torii Sushi for two poke bowls. The food was super fresh and ready very quickly. The staff are always friendly and very clear about everything. Definitely recommended for anyone looking for a hearty meal at an affordable price. Keep the show going!

I had a great experience at torri sushi restaurant. The food was fresh, well-made, and served with care. I also want to highlight Karim, who made the visit even better. He was attentive, patient, and genuinely welcoming. He checked in at the right moments and made sure everything was perfect. His professionalism and warm attitude really stood out. Average sushi, poke bowl, etc. Received 2.5 hours after ordering (not the delivery service's fault) with a delivery estimate of 45 minutes. There are much better places to order sushi in Utrecht, but if you're not in a hurry or hungry, I might consider Tori.

Worst experience ever, never again! We waited over three hours for our food. During that time, we received no updates whatsoever, not by phone, not by email, nothing at all. When I called to ask how long it would take, I was told several different things: first, it would be "made now," then when I asked if that would be after two hours, I was suddenly told it was "on its way." Ultimately, that turned out to be untrue, because it took another hour for it to finally arrive. As if that wasn't bad enough, the phone was then disconnected, and we couldn't call anymore, even though they had told me to "call back in 5 minutes if it hadn't arrived yet." Very unprofessional and downright frustrating. And then the food itself: giving only two small containers of soy sauce and a little wasabi for four people is simply ridiculous. In short: terrible service, lies on the phone, and absolutely no respect for the customer. We will never order from here again. The sushi turned out to be quite tasty in the end.

I ordered sushi and picked it up myself. I chose it based on the pictures on the ordering website. However, the sushi box itself turned out to be different in terms of content. I called about it when I got home, and they offered me a good solution. The food was delicious, and the service was friendly.

Unfortunately, I had to wait 2.5 hours for my sushi to arrive. I called a few times, but was told each time it was on its way (for over an hour), and they simply hung up on me a few times. It's fine if it's busy sometimes, but communicate this and offer a solution. The delivery driver's phone was dead? But he was able to call me afterward. The sushi was good, but since the wait is so long, I unfortunately won't be ordering from them again.

Ordered, said it would take 45 minutes. Took 2 hours and 45 minutes. Food was soggy. Restaurant's phone was disabled, no live tracking, so we had to wait and hope it arrived.

DO NOT ORDER HERE!! This is the worst sushi restaurant I've ever ordered from. I waited 2.5 hours for terrible sushi. They were impossible to reach by phone!

I ordered at 7:30 PM and was given a delivery time between 8:00 PM and 8:20 PM. After just 10 minutes, the app showed my order was ready and ready for pickup. When I called at 8:00 PM to check, I was told it would be "out in a minute." It wasn't delivered until 9:00 PM. It's only a 5-minute walk from my house, so if the food really was ready at 8:00 PM, it had been sitting in the kitchen for an hour. Unfortunately, you could taste the difference: the rice was very sticky, and the tempura shrimp were limp and soggy instead of crispy. The staff was friendly on the phone, but the delivery and quality of the food were very disappointing. I won't be returning.

They give you surimi stick while you order tuna. I had ordered the softshell box online, of which the picture clearly shows one of the rolls with tuna as filling and topping. However, I got a roll with cheap surimi stick in it and various other toppings on it, of which little tuna. When I called them about it, they said that was how it was supposed to be. Too bad because otherwise delicious sushi.

Ordered via Uber Eats. After waiting for more than an hour, we called the company and the blame was placed on Uber eats... when we asked how long we had to wait, they said it could take another 45 minutes... When we wanted to cancel, that was not possible... The man on the phone was not friendly.

We have ordered twice now and we never knew that sushi could taste so delicious and fresh that you no longer need wasabi or soy sauce! The first time they were 1 hour late, but that was more than compensated the 2nd time with a little extra with the order. We are fans!

Very good quality, very affordable and very friendly service. All the bad reviews are about delivery times, if you don't want to wait just pick it up yourself. As a true sushi lover I'm used to quite a bit, but Torii Sushi takes the experience to a completely different level. From the moment you walk in, you can feel the passion and dedication with which they prepare their sushi. The service is top notch: friendly, attentive and always helpful. And then the sushi itself… simply phenomenal. The quality of the ingredients is rare; the fish is incredibly fresh and almost melts in your tongue. Every bite is perfectly balanced, with the right textures and flavors coming together in a harmonious experience. This isn't just sushi – this is a culinary art form. I honestly don't understand where some of the negative reactions come from, because my experience was nothing but fantastic. Torii Sushi proves that true quality and craftsmanship still exist. If you like real, high-quality sushi, this is the place to be!

Just terrible. Food is not the issue, just the service. Had to wait ~3h for the order and after multiple calls where no one bothered to pick up the phone, I ended up having to go to the "restaurant", filled with delivery scooters, which seems to indicate no one is actually delivering. There I found 2 girls preparing food and was asked to wait around 15 minutes as she was finishing the order. Even after finishing the order she had to catch me at the door because she forgot to put the full order on the bag...as I see they should have paid me for picking it up for them. Just terrible

We just had to wait 2.5 hours for our order, while the expected delivery time was over an hour, really bizarre! Just when we were about to cycle to the shop to ask for our money back (the phone was no longer answered), the delivery person showed up at the door. Never again Torii Sushi for us.

Waited for my food for 2 hours, eventually the wrong sushi came and they forgot my drink. After I called, it was suggested to add a dish as compensation, which ultimately never came. VERY bad service and the pokebowl was not tasty either. I will never order from here again

Ordered sushi through ubereats and it took 3 phone calls and 2h 40min to be delivered. After the first phone call they claimed they have the food ready but don’t have the address, (which they clearly had since it was via ubereats), second phone call they put me on hold and forgot about it and after third phone call they finally said its on the way and should be here any minute. It took 30 more minutes to arrive. The sushi was okay but awful service. Definitely don’t recommend!

What a TERRIBLE TENT. The way they treat customers there is not normal. I had ordered online. I got there right on time. I'll wait an extra 5 minutes. And then walk to the counter to ask where my order is. It is said now that it will be made in 5 minutes. I wait 20 minutes and walk there again. It is said again that it is being made now. I say I have to start training. And the gentleman says, just look. How amateurish!

They do not provide any update on the delivery and in the app its says 20-30 minutes but it taked 1.45 minutes in the normal weather and normal conditions. So if you would like to wait for longer hours please go on with this business.

Despite the food being decent, the service is very bad and so disorganized. Two different stores on Uber eats and the two have different pricing, only one is according to the website. Plus on Uber eats and on their own website both stores seem to deliver until 22:30, on Google tho the closing time of the Nachtegaalstraat is until 21:30 on a Sunday, while when you call them up the restaurant claims to close at 21?! The discount codes offered by the restaurant also don’t seem to work on the their own website and unfortunately the employees are mostly lost some even annoyed at what to do in terms of costumer service. My issue was in regard a an issue they had on Uber eats which didn’t allow me to order due to lack of plastic bags?! After the advice that I should order on their website it became about the discount code, then I noticed the price difference on Uber with the two stores, by that I couldn’t order since the website would not allow me bc only the store that’s too far from my house would be open, despite having been given the advice to order from that store. Anyway a mess. So after calling the two different stores like a ping pong a total of 3 times, getting hanged up once and despite my third attempt speaking with someone who seemed much more interested in addressing any of the delivery or discount issues I had, despite being promised to be called back with a solution, that never happened. I spend more time trying to fix the issue with the restaurants then anything. I honestly think that paying an average of 30 euros per meal, while there’s a big chance you will have to to make the effort yourself to have the service slightly consistent or simply delivered is just completely ridiculous, you are not paying to get a service done, you are completely giving your money away. My advice order somewhere else.

Ordered here for the first time, normally I order/eat sushi elsewhere. This is honestly not recommended, the sushi falls completely apart (see photo) and unfortunately does not taste as it should.

Never order from these people unless you want to support the wilfully dangerous drivers they employ. I regularly see their drivers driving fast on the pedestrian pavement of the street outside the restaurant on their mopeds with little to no regard to the people walking nearby. And now, today, one of their drivers drove into my girlfriend from behind on his bike whilst she was walking, knocking her to the ground. Thankfully for this driver, my girlfriend is a better and more forgiving person than I or we would be pressing charges against this reckless moron. Avoid this place at all costs.

The food is typically nice but they're now 20min late w/ a delivery placed hours ago for a precise time. Response when I called "yeah it's really busy and it's on its way"... Being busy cannot be an excuse for orders that have been placed w/ sufficient warning to enable good planning.
