I had a dialogue with the owner last Sunday. We didn't agree, so I left it at that. Even though we didn't agree, I find it a wonderful and respectful thing that we at least DARE to speak. We may still possess this fundamental right, although I personally don't think we have had it since 1940. In any case, there was mutual respect, and that is what matters. In short, I will definitely be back. 👍👋

Nice Limburg snack bar. Delicious food and generous portions; they're definitely not stingy 👍🏼. You do have to say fries instead of chips 🤣, and a snack there is called a sputnik, which was funny. The staff there are really nice and friendly.

Delicious snack and very friendly service after a long bike ride. When I'm in the area again, I know which snack bar I'll be visiting.

Great fries in a wide variety, plus delicious soft-serve ice cream. Very fair prices. We love coming here when we're camping around the corner.

The expression "the customer is king" was completely absent yesterday when something went wrong with my order. I asked for fries with mayonnaise and got fries with fries sauce. Some people don't care, but I do; I don't like fries sauce. It seems easy enough to correct such a small mistake: just exchange the container of fries sauce for a container of mayonnaise, but that wasn't so easy because Tropical doesn't have mayonnaise in stock. The only option left was to immediately offer the customer a refund, but things didn't go as planned. The owner began a lengthy explanation of how a frikandel (special type of frikadel) is prepared. I learned that fries sauce is one of the toppings, and that's why fries sauce is used. When I said that this had nothing to do with my order and that my concern was that I didn't get what I ordered, I assumed we were ready, but that turned out not to be the case. While my fries were cooling on the table, the owner persisted, at all costs, in his belief that such a thing was impossible. It might have something to do with a mistake made by him or one of his employees. No, ultimately it was my own fault... I should have asked for real mayonnaise. I find that a strange line of reasoning, because mayonnaise is mayonnaise, nothing more. I was also asked if I "wanted my money back," but that wasn't my point at all, and besides, it's not the most elegant way to correct a mistake. Asking someone if they want something is different from offering it yourself. Anyway, what's obviously wrong here is the fact that there's even a discussion about a container of fries sauce with a purchase price of 10 cents (?). And that in the presence of other customers. What's also wrong is the bad example set for young people at the beginning of their careers. If I remember correctly, there were three young employees present. I hope they read this and learn something from it. And from now on, if anyone orders something with mayonnaise, just say, "Sorry, we don't have that, we sell fries sauce."

Dear owner, I'd like to respond to Ledo's review. First, I'm not a client, but a paying customer. Second, it wasn't busy when we placed the order. Third, you're right: where people work, mistakes happen. It's good that you admitted that afterward, but it's a shame you didn't at the time. It came across as a liar; you didn't speak to us, but you did to the three young people who were supposed to resolve the issue (they didn't). It's a real shame that I'm no longer welcome, which says more about you than me.

The food was good, but it was a shame they made a fuss about a container of mayonnaise and a viandel, both of which had been paid for. After a lot of hassle, I finally got mayonnaise but no viandel. I wasn't believed. Friends of ours checked the receipt after they'd finished their food and it showed a croquette they hadn't ordered. Still, they earned 5 euros. If they do this to a few customers a day, it's well deserved. Again, the food was good, but it's a real shame, especially that they don't believe me.

Heerlijke frieten en Western Burger, maar het is vooral ons favoriete stekje voor het softijs. Heerlijk romig.

Eerdere review die een klant meld is echt niet correct, de zaak is super schoon, eten kwalitatief super en ook volledig hygiënisch en aangepast aan Corona, jammer dat iemand zo negatief over deze zaak heeft geschreven; is echt op en top!

Voor de lekkerste frietjes en softijs van Zuid-Limburg ben je hier zeker op de juiste plek. Wederom staat het vriendelijke personeel altijd met een glimlach voor je klaar!

Tropical Schimmert is dé plek om je verse frites en verkoelende softijsjes (en meer!) te halen. Altijd vriendelijk personeel en de beste service. Zelfs tijdens deze rare tijden weten ze goede service te leveren en houden ze extra rekening met hygiene. Aanrader!

Bij Tropical Schimmert heb ik de beste friet gegeten in tijden! Er is een breed assortiment aan friet en snacks, dus voor ieder wat wils. De medewerkers zijn zeer vriendelijk en de eigenaar is altijd in voor een leuk praatje. Zeker een dikke aanrader!

Altijd lekker en leuk personeel

Tropical, dat klinkt alsof je bij binnenkomst ontvangen wordt met cocktails in een jungle met wilde dieren. En zo was het ook, op die cocktails na dan. De friture is een hele aparte ervaring. Geen typische frietteboed, dat niet, maar wel bijzonder sfeervol ingericht in jungle stijl. Overal panterprint, een aquarium, afbeeldingen van dieren, miniatuurboten en zelfs een foto van Jane (ja die van Tarzan). De muziek staat redelijk hard met vrolijk swingende muziek. Apart, maar zeker niet sfeerloos. Na alles even op ons te hebben laten ingewerkt deden we onze bestelling. Deze bestond uit een frietje saté, een frietje curry, kipvingers, een bamischijf, een nasischijf en een mexicano. We namen plaats in de jungle en wachtten op ons eten. Dit kwam niet veel later en werd aan tafel gebracht. Wat direct opviel was dat de frietjes in een kommetje zaten, de sauzen apart geserveerd werden en je er een zoutbusje bij kreeg om zelf zout over je frietjes te doen. Pluspunten voor het feit dat je zelf de hoeveel zout en saus kan bepalen. We begonnen onze test en wat direct opviel was de goede bite van de frietjes, waarbij vermeld mag worden dat er wel hier en daar wat slappere frietjes tussen zaten. De smaak ervan was echter prima. De snacks waren over het algemeen lekker en niet bijzonder van smaak. De bami en kipvingers hadden precies lang genoeg in het vet gelegen en de mexicano 'smaakt zoals die hoort te smaken', aldus een lid van ons testpanel. De nasi was kapot gebakken, jammer, maar de smaak was goed. Deze nasischijf was vrij pittig en vol van smaak, dit beviel ons wel.
