Turkish restaurant Laila Utrecht in Wijk 09 Leidsche Rijn

Onlangs gingen we met de familie uiteten om. Helaas was onze ervaring niet zoals we hadden gehoopt. Het personeel sprak nauwelijks Nederlands en had moeite met het communiceren in het Turks ze zeiden we spreken engels terwijl dat niet zo was, wat het bestellen en vragen om hulp erg moeilijk maakte. We bestelden 6 x leila speciaal maar die was ontzettend droog en moeilijk te kauwen eten was te koud en droog en lijkt uren al gemaakt te hebben. De patat was ook niet gaar en koud. We . Al met al was het een teleurstellende ervaring op een bijzondere dag. Er was een verlovingsfeest op die dag en ze gingen meer tijd besteden aan dat dan aan andere klanten en ook ik denk 100% zeker dat eten dat we hadden besteld was wat over was van verlovingsfeest en ze aan ons voorgeschoten hebben want het was te zien was te koud en droog. Mijn zus heeft een salade besteld die we uiteindelijk niet hebben gekregen en op de bon hebben we voor betaald na dat we thuis waren hebben we het pas ontdekt ook bij ons leila speciaal zat zogenaamd patat bij en die staat op de bon extra dat we voor betaald hebben en ook bij kinder menu zat patat en die hebben we ook niet gekregen. En bij leila speciaal zat ook salada en die hebben we ook voor 4 personen zelfde hoeveelheid salade gekregen zoals bij 2 personen leila speciaal, ze hebben heel lelijke gereserveerde het eten en bij mix grill zat alleen kip dan ook vlees zag ik bijna niet. Ook zogenaamd krijgen we thee van het huis ze hebben gebracht dat was ook te koud we hebben zelf gewoon gevraagd thee kopen en met kunafe gekocht te brengen ze verstonden het weer niet en krijgen we thee en heel later kunafe terwijl we hebben gevraagd samen te brengen met thee, en de bediening zei we brengen extra turkse thee om met kunafe te drinken maak je niet druk het is gratis het was mij niet om gratis maar ze begrijpen je helemaal niet en ook later kwam kunafe aan en waar is de thee niet gekomen en later vroegen we weer ze zeiden komt eraan maar nergens te zien thee en later hebben we uiteindelijk onze kunafe zonder thee genomen en niet gekregen, ik heb een hele verhaal maar zodat mensen weten niet hier hun geld verspilling niet waard om eens te proberen echt waar. Jammer ik had echt anders verwacht.

We bestelden gegrilde kip, maar die was ontzettend droog en moeilijk te kauwen. De patat was ook niet gaar. Na een opmerking over de patat kwam de manager naar onze tafel en stak zelfs zijn hand in mijn bord om te 'controleren' of het echt niet gaar was, wat echt niet gepast is. We vroegen ook om twee borden salade, maar ook dat ging niet goed vanwege de taalbarrière. Al met al was het een teleurstellende ervaring op een bijzondere dag.

Bad experience ever in my entire life with a restaurant 0/10. I made a reservation and was then almost put next to the toilet while there was still enough room. We waited a total of 30 minutes, maybe even longer, for someone to help us. A colleague was to be sent to us twice, no one came by in those 30 minutes. Staff was anything but concerned with customers. Not even one person walked towards us or any of the staff looked at us. I used to come there with love, but from now on I will never step foot in there again, sorry not sorry. REALLY OUTRAGEOUS! WOULD NOT RECOMMEND IT TO ANYONE!!!!

Totaal niet wat ik gewend ben in het weekend, geen dienbladen, thee was niet te drinken en er waren er meerdere met een klacht erover, geen ju er stond een kan appelsap, een kan met siroop Inplaats van ju’dorange en brood met sesam was keihard, ik vind het erg jammer dat ik 17,95 heb betaald en dat wel 4x want we waren met zen vieren., het mag echt wel wat beter qua service ook. Oh ja en de koffie moesten we er bij kopen was niet ingegrepen die koud was.

Before booking, they couldn't find that in their system. There were 3 of us. Dishes did not arrive at the same time, which made the atmosphere no longer pleasant. Food, bland and tasteless You pay too much for not even cafeteria quality! Unprofessional workmen People don't go!!!

I love Turkish restaurant Laila.

The staff was absolutely terrible. The employees were very indifferent and disrespectful. The tables were extremely dirty, we asked for them to be cleaned, but they did not care at all. They said the children's playground was open, but it was closed! They misinformed us. Our orders arrived very late and were incomplete. We asked for tea, the glass was dirty. As for the food, the meat was raw and bloody in some parts, unedible. Everything was very disorganized. The staff literally did somersaults to avoid making eye contact. We paid 150 euros, but this service was definitely not worth it. For the first time, I felt sorry for the money I spent on the food. Hygiene is zero, service is zero, food is zero. Don't go, it's a waste of your money and time! There is a "Butcher" right below, I recommend you go there.

Not even worth 1 star!!! Tonight we visited this restaurant and unfortunately our experience was anything but positive. It started as soon as we entered, where we were constantly addressed in Turkish, even though we clearly indicated that we do not speak this language. It didn't feel welcoming, especially because we live in the Netherlands and not everyone here speaks Turkish. The starter was served without plates, which caused everything to fall on the table and leak, a very awkward situation. The dishes were served in a messy manner, not at the same time, which did not improve the atmosphere and did not make the experience pleasant for a communal dinner. The main problem, however, was the chicken we ordered. This one was still raw pink and dangerous on the inside, which is of course worrying. Our children took a bite of it, I hope it won't cause any health problems. When we went to discuss this issue with the gentleman behind the counter, his concern seemed to be with a $1 basket where our son had spit out the raw chicken, rather than being concerned about the safety of the food. This was the final straw for us. It seemed like this restaurant was unable to handle the situation in a professional manner and the service was poorly organized. All in all, our night out was completely ruined by the unprofessional service and food safety concerns. We won't be coming back here.

I thought it was bad. The chicken was still raw and the staff seemed like they didn't know what to do. There was only one person who knew what he was doing and he was irritated by his own colleagues, because they did not keep him informed. WE had to tell him that a family had been moved. This was really disappointing, I was sorry that it happened this way. I came a few months ago and it was so much better then, the food was tasty and the staff was very nice and knew what they were doing. Disappointed and didn't like it. Atmosphere wasn't very nice either.

The staff was horrible. There were plenty of people working, mostly young ladies, but they hardly did anything. One employee was busy with her girlfriend all the time and constantly gave her kisses. It seemed like she came there to chat rather than work. We were three people and ordered food, but it did not come at the same time. My food only came when my friend had already finished his plate. Really ridiculous! We asked for three teas, but each time we only got one glass. When we asked again, we only got one glass again, and it was broken too! How can you bring something like that to a customer? I took a picture of it, because you can't miss this. The table was filthy and was never cleaned even when we asked. We even ordered dessert, but the table remained dirty. When we sat down, there were still dirty glasses and cutlery from the previous people. I asked for new glasses, and the employee just said, "There are already glasses." When I showed them that they were dirty, we were reluctantly given new glasses. Also, we didn't get "sauce and bread," while other tables did. We had to ask for everything ourselves, even the cutlery. The service was completely disinterested and no effort was made. The food was also bad. The meat was not properly cooked, some pieces were even raw and red on the inside. We could barely eat anything, but still had to pay €130. What a shame! My advice: don't go here. It's dirty, the service is bad, and the food sucks. Definitely not worth it!

Super tasty and fun with the kids

The food was very tasty. It was very busy, so unfortunately the service was no longer that good. It took a very long time for someone to come to take our order. The food came quickly. But once we had finished eating, our tables were full for at least 30 minutes with plates and bottles that were not cleared. We also didn't get any glasses with the soft drinks, which wasn't very nice. Later we ordered a large bottle of spa blue, again without glasses while we were with a group. Then it took a very long time to get it again. Then ordered a dessert, which came quickly. We also ordered Turkish tea, but it never arrived. When they are quiet the service is good, but unfortunately not when they are busy. When paying we all paid separately. Then they say that one of us didn't pay (who was already gone). We had to call her to take a screenshot of the payment. Of course we were able to show that without any problems. We had to wait another 10 minutes for that. Very unfortunate.

Rezillik berbat bir yer. Food doesn't taste like anything. In addition to the kebab dishes, you get raw tomatoes and onions on your plate. Staff speaks almost no Dutch or Turkish. A subpar experience, the worst meal I have ever had in my life. Bulgur rice was ice cold and messy. The meatballs, of which there are 10 in the photo, came in 5 pieces in oily tomato juice. I felt nauseous and canceled the portion meal I bought. The food arrived by mail. There is food, no cutlery, no rice, no spoon. Never, ever go and waste your money here. I'm also adding a photo of the meatball sauce. When I told him about his experience at the checkout, the employee said, "I have never received such a comment." The food is terrible, the service is terrible, the asci didn't taste the food when he cooked it. Bulgur rice arrived ice cold. Meatballs with sauce were covered in oil. I would have done the couplet better if I had made it myself at home. Grilled meatballs were burnt. If they paid more, I would never come to this restaurant again.

Voor het eerst bij Laila geweest, Het ontbijtbuffet is mij als Turkse gast , erg tegengevallen. Is miste vooral de gevulde Turkse broodjes en Turks brood. Ik vindt persoonlijk stukjes stokbrood niet ‘typisch ‘ Turks. Daarnaast ontbraken ook de omelet gerechten bij het buffet ….,

When we arrived at 4:15 PM it smelled of chlorine everywhere. The first part of the restaurant still looks fine. The play area is worn out. Employees are not attuned to each other. Cold mezze, but no spoons ordered. It's nice if there are 9 of you, fork poke is a thing of the past :-) Main course came quickly. Meat was fine. We were missing knives. Often had to ask staff for things. The staff who are there stand for that...?? No idea, they stayed there and sent their colleague to join us. Tables are wiped down with strong-smelling chemical cloths. Not nice if you are still eating while the table next to you is being cleared. Toilets… crazy construction. The toilet door is too deep in the door frame. It is not possible to turn the lock because there is no space between the door lock and frame :-) We thought it was a nice location with plenty of parking spaces and close to the highway. Shame! Unfortunately we won't be coming here again.

I already think one star is too much for this restaurant. It's a real shame I didn't read reviews first. We came to this restaurant really looking forward to Turkish food, but unfortunately they ruined it. We walked in and the person behind the counter didn't even say hi or welcome. We ordered laila special for 4 people but it was really nothing special Meat was really fatty and low quality. It was so overcooked that you couldn't chew or swallow. What was in the photo was completely different from what we had at our table. They didn't even bring plates and cutlery so we had to wait a very long time and the food had already become cold. Such a shame They made a lot of mistakes by just bringing things to our table that we didn't even order. (but I said that it is not ours) then when paying I check the receipt and of course I see that all those errors have been charged. Sorry but this is really stupid what you are doing I really don't recommend anyone come to this restaurant. There are plenty of other restaurants that have a nice atmosphere and good food I will definitely never come back. A waste of our money

Worst service ever, can't even speak Dutch. The food was disgusting, the shrimps were NOT cooked... Many mistakes were made with our order, so they served one of our dishes to another table. And let's not even talk about the place for the kids! Definitely not recommended. This was certainly not worth the 160 euros

Laila special: Very nice Turkish mixed grill with grilled meat and chicken with salad, fries, rice. Yellow rice was pretty good so was the lamb. Beyti Sarma: Kebab rolls served with tomato sauce and Turkish yogurt. Tasted well too Baklava was too sweet but the Sutlac (rice pudding) was quite light and not too sweet and refreshing after the meal. Turkish coffee however was a small shot with lot of ground coffee. Not everyone speaks English but they tried to help as much as they can.

The meal was of mediocre quality and did not meet expectations. I have eaten in better Turkish eateries. We ordered the Laila Special, which unfortunately was not special. For example, the dish, intended for four people, contained eight chicken wings (cheap meat) but not four lamb chops. Some pieces of meat were overcooked and the salad was only enough for two people. The location left much to be desired. The atmosphere was unpleasant and it seemed like the venue had been opened quickly without being fully finished. This does not contribute to a pleasant evening out for dinner. Moreover, parking is chargeable, which costs approximately four euros per hour. Although this is not directly due to the location, it is something to take into account.

Delicious, super cozy restaurant and nice staff

The food was good. We ordered mixed chicken and steak. Steak cooked medium with champion sauce was juicy and tasty. Few staff speaks English and order takes time but the food was fresh. If you are going on weekends it’s better to reserve seats via their website.

Staff do not speak Dutch. If you want to order something you have to call the staff several times. And once you have ordered you wait an hour for your food. Ordering drinks is almost impossible, staff walks away if you want to ask something. Price-quality ratio is not right, it is way too expensive for the service you get. I will never eat here again.

Amazing Turkish restaurant. Food was perfect and service was friendly. Truly enjoyed the evening

We were with a group of friends and despite the crowds the service went smoothly. The waiting time was short and the dishes were beautifully presented and full of flavour. The staff were very friendly and attentive, which made the experience extra enjoyable. The atmosphere was perfect for a fun night out. I definitely recommend this restaurant and look forward to coming back!

The food was better than last time, but the service was still bad. Long wait for food, no response to empty glasses. The coffee man was eating, so we didn't get coffee until he was done. At least half an hour later. The service ladies try not to see you and are busy touching each other's hair. The grill chef is also touching his beard and nose. Come on! Take off your blinders and look at the guests who bring your paycheck!

Came here to eat with a group. Parking was a nightmare due to crowds and poorly parked cars. Once we arrived it took more than half an hour before we were helped. It was busy so it could happen that they overlooked us. The waitress didn't know the dishes on the menu so we pointed to everything. She then wanted to walk away without asking what we wanted to drink. After a long wait, one of us did not receive his food and it turned out that his food had not tasted at all. It took more than fifteen minutes until an employee walked past who we could speak to. He only got his food after an hour, after the rest of the group had already finished eating. This was ultimately compensated by not adding this dish to the receipt. Two of us felt nauseous immediately after eating and were therefore unable to finish our food. We skipped dessert. Quality and quantity have deteriorated here. Too bad but unfortunately; we won't be coming back here again.

This is definitely recommended! The atmosphere is warm and cozy, just what you want for a night out. The dishes were delicious and authentically Turkish, full of flavor and prepared with care. The portions were generous and everything tasted fresh. The staff were incredibly hospitable and really made us feel welcome. In short, a nice place to enjoy Turkish cuisine!

There was hair baked into my flesh. When I put a piece of minced meat in my mouth, there was a very long hair in it. I pulled the hair out of my mouth, but the hair was in the minced meat. I then spat this out. I have not received any compensation nor even a small apology. This is very unfortunate.

The 4 of us went out to dinner at Laila's to celebrate my brother's birthday. It was not busy, we were seated around 8:00 PM. We didn't think the service seemed friendly and a lot was forgotten. Now I don't mind that so much and I have gotten up myself a few times. But I asked the waiter to place a candle fountain on cakes because of the birthday. Passed on to two different people but it was still forgotten. In addition, it took a very long time for the pastry to arrive. The first time we placed the order we had to wait about half an hour, after which someone else came and took the same order again. When it's busy, I understand the wait, but it was just a pastry and a request. Very unfortunate.

I wish I had read the reviews before going to this restaurant. Unfortunately, this was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. My own dish was inedible, so I tried to sample a little of my husband and child's plates, but their dishes were just as disappointing—either undercooked, too greasy, or completely tasteless. When I expressed my concerns to the staff, they were dismissed with: “We can't do anything about it; many people also complained about the rice today.” But it wasn't just about the rice; every dish we ordered was poorly prepared, including the side dishes. Ik wou dat ik de reviews had gelezen voordat ik naar dit restaurant ging. Helaas was dit een van de slechtste eetervaringen die ik ooit heb gehad. Mijn eigen gerecht was niet te eten, dus probeerde ik een beetje van het bord van mijn man en kind te proeven, maar hun gerechten waren net zo teleurstellend—ofwel niet goed gaar, te vet, of volledig smakeloos. Toen ik mijn zorgen uitte aan het personeel, werden ze afgedaan met: “We kunnen er niets aan doen; veel mensen hebben vandaag ook over de rijst geklaagd.” Maar het ging niet alleen om de rijst; elk gerecht dat we bestelden was slecht bereid, inclusief de bijgerechten. Ik voelde me erna zelfs fysiek ziek, wat ongewoon is voor mij omdat ik geen gevoelige maag heb. Een flink bedrag betalen voor een maaltijd waar we ons ziek van voelden, is ontzettend frustrerend.

PLEASE NOTE IF YOU PAY CASH!! Last Friday I had dinner here with my girlfriend and her two children. First of all, we had to go to the employees ourselves to ask if there was someone who could take our order. Then we find out that almost no one speaks Dutch. Then I paid in cash at the cash register. It was €73.50 if I remember correctly and I gave two €50 notes, so €100 in total. In the meantime we were busy with the children and I got my money back, a €10 note, a €5 note, and some change and stuff put in my pocket. Assuming everything went well. To my surprise, I did the math again and of course it is not correct at all! I got €16.50 back instead of €26.50! I'll come by this week to collect my money. You can already view the camera images. I paid between 3:00 PM and 4:00 PM.

This was our second time here. The first time we were satisfied, but the second time was a very bad experience. I don't plan on coming back. Firstly, the waiters spilled food on us, but they hardly apologized or showed any interest. We had to sit with dirty clothes in dirty places. In addition, the place where we sat looked more like a wedding hall, and the music was incredibly loud and bad. It was very disturbing. The dishes were also quite ordinary compared to last time. I don't recommend it.

Celebrated our birthday in the VIP room and it was all very well organised. Good food and good atmosphere

Taste remains good there. Service needs a significant improvement due to long waiting times and this time we had to ask for everything ourselves, including cutlery. And we simply got sauces from another table ourselves. Because no staff became available for our table of seven people. Depending on the moment, the atmosphere is sometimes very busy and sometimes quiet. Quite noisy. Children feel at ease there.

Wat een slechte ervaring was dit. Eerst lang moeten wachten voor we überhaupt een bestelling konden doen, vervolgens worden de cola flesjes zo met een rietje op tafel gekwakt alsof je een kleuter bent en wordt er niet gekeken of er glazen, bestek of borden op tafel staan. Het voorgerecht konden we niet eens opscheppen, we hadden immers geen bestek of borden. We hebben letterlijk overal om moeten vragen. Het brood kregen we pas nadat we het vroegen bij het hoofdgerecht en dat kwam zonder smeersels, ook drie keer om moeten vragen.. De bestellingen worden niet efficiënt opgenomen dus je krijgt drie keer een bestelling aangeboden die niet voor jou is en ondertussen gaat jouw bestelling ook vier tafels rond. Het eten was ook niet al te best, was een aantal jaar geleden beter, we hadden nu taai vlees en de rijst lag niet meer netjes naast het vlees maar over het hele bord heen, alsof de bediening ermee gestruikeld was. Na het eten wordt er met een karretje met afwasteiltjes door het restaurant gereden om de tafels af te ruimen, super onprofessioneel en goor. Echt heel jammer, zonde van het geld, staat totaal niet in verhouding. Hier komen we niet meer.

The restaurant offers a wide array of options. My friends and I decided to share our meals together to try more. The meats were medium rare, just as we wanted. The service is great. They were very attentive and the restaurant's layout is thoughtfully designed. The location is easy to find when you’re with the car but the parking lot is very small for the amount of people that visit this location. And sadly it’s payed parking

I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant. The food was not properly cooked—when I cut into the chicken, it had visible traces of blood. I informed the manager about the situation, and his response was shockingly dismissive: "Yes, I know, just pay half of the meal." This isn't just a service issue; it's a serious food safety concern. It’s worth noting that the restaurant wasn’t even busy—it was a Wednesday night. This experience was unacceptable, and I expected far better.

After that, you don't want to find out if something happened to your food in the kitchen. I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to have a quiet meal with his or her partner.

A real shame, it was very good and tasty and cheap but now!!!!!Bad service, very few types of food and it has become more expensive (€19 p.p). I invited my visitors to Laila but I was ashamed of this shame. Really this is the last time.

Quite a disappointment. We have been here before but it is as if it is getting worse and worse. Bulgur rice was gone, very unfortunate. Rice we got was cold. Once heated up the rice was hard as if I was chewing on Plastic. We had to ask for many things. Lettuce was like it was made for a rabbit or something. Adana kebab was dry meat. Chicken wings were tasty. Cutlets also only a little meat for a mixed grill 2 people. E.g. Only 2 pieces of meat skewer 2 Cutlets. For that price you could serve a little more meat. We wanted to order dessert half an hour before closing time and that was not possible. At most Turkish restaurants you get tea on the house, but it seemed like they just wanted to get us out of there quickly. Next time, go to the neighbors kasap. Ultimately it's all about the food so I give 2 stars

The restaurant was decorated very nicely. There is also a woman who prepares fresh gözleme in front of the guests. You automatically get an appetite. We were there for breakfast. Everything we ate tasted very good. There is something suitable for everyone. There is so much choice when it comes to drinks alone. I also thought it was great that no one felt disturbed by a small child, which can of course be loud at times. There is even a special play and climbing area especially for children (in the restaurant).

We ordered tapas. You could literally take 2 bites of it. Really not worth the price. Main course mix grill was tasty.

Really not worth your time or money.

I went with my family today for open buffet breakfast. The menu looks reasonable for the price. The tea flavor was good. However, when we asked for a large glass from the waiters, the person at the counter, who I thought was the boss, said something to the waiter who helped us, indicating that he was uncomfortable. They were very surprised by our polite behavior towards the ladies who were preparing pastries. This situation also surprised us. 😂 We were also happy that there was no playground for the kids. I think it can become a great place with a huge change of management personnel.

Unfortunately, I had an experience below my expectations. Food arrived cold and late. I could not see the care in Turkish restaurants. The place and furniture are very well decorated, the atmosphere is good, but I was not satisfied with the food. However, the prices were also high. I hope the food quality improves. In addition, appetizers, tea offerings, etc. are indispensable in Turkish cuisine. One more chance may be given.
