The overall experience was decent. The restaurant is quite spacious, which is a big plus. We went without a reservation, but they were still able to find a table for us. I ordered the steak medium rare. It was okay, but nothing particularly special, and unfortunately it was served a bit cold. We were a group of around 8 people sharing a table, and the amount of tableware and serving items provided felt insufficient for a group our size. On the positive side, the fries were good, and the baklava was excellent.

We had a delicious Turkish meal. The concept is very nice, where you select your meat and vegetables from the display case. While your food is being prepared, you are served some bread with spreads, and with the main course, you can order unlimited rice and fries on the side. The service was very friendly, and we were even offered tea on the house twice. The desserts were also tasty, but we did experience a sugar crash afterwards due to all the sweetness.

Disappointing experience – 1/5 We came to Restaurant Kasap on someone's recommendation, but unfortunately, the food was quite disappointing. Various side dishes were placed on the table: potato salad, carrot salad, kısır, cacık, and turşu. In our opinion, these are not the types of mezze you expect at a Turkish grill, the kind you can dip bread into or that really add something to the grilled meat. In the end, only the cacık was eaten. Of the meats, the Adana and chicken skewers were good. We had ordered the bonfilet medium, but it came out way too well-done. The kuzu şiş was incredibly dry and had a burnt taste that I could still taste. The side dishes were also disappointing. The rice was sticky, making it almost impossible to eat. The fries looked like they had been fried twice, had absorbed a lot of oil, and were therefore dry. All in all, we found the quality of the food to be very disappointing. “Eaten” because we were hungry. For us, 1 out of 5 stars. We were mainly curious about the bill, because the price-quality ratio will ultimately determine for us how truly disappointing this experience is. That was 75.00; too bad, back home then… Furthermore, the tables were way too close together.

The times I was here around lunchtime, the food was top-notch! I went during dinner time today. The meat was practically raw and cold.. There is so much staff working here, do something about quality control? Grill marks mean undercooked or have good flavor ;)

A Turkish restaurant with a wide selection of meat dishes. The quality of the meat was very good: tender, flavorful, and well prepared. We really enjoyed the food. The starters were slightly less to our liking. They weren't bad, but we had expected a little more from them. The restaurant itself is cozy, but because the space is quite enclosed, the smell of the food lingers. This can be unpleasant for people who are sensitive to smells. All in all, we had a nice evening and especially enjoyed the delicious meat. Definitely recommended for lovers of Turkish cuisine.

We had a really incredibly delicious meal. Wonderfully grilled. The fries and vegetables were tasty too! It was fun to pick everything out yourself. Friendly staff!

Delicious food. Really good meat. Seasoned, marinated, and natural. Nicely prepared on a charcoal grill. Just point out what you want in the display case, and then it is served to your table nice and quickly.

I highly recommend this restaurant. The mixed grill was delicious and fresh, and the tea and baklava were wonderful and a perfect ending to the meal. We visited this restaurant for the first time, but unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. Upon entering, they wanted to seat us immediately next to a large group of young boys, even though other seats were available. That did not feel comfortable. The service was the biggest downside. Despite it not being busy, we had to wait a long time before we could order. They didn't even walk over to our table; they called out what we wanted to order from a distance. Because it was our first time here, we asked for an explanation of the concept. Instead of a friendly explanation, they curtly pointed to the meat with the remark: “Yes, that is where you have to choose and order.” We also had to get our attention for drinks ourselves, and even that was taken from a distance. The staff came across as uninterested and unfriendly. The food was inconsistent. The Adana was far too spicy for our taste, and the meat was quite tough. Unfortunately, we really didn't like the rice. Otherwise, the atmosphere in the restaurant was reasonable. All in all, this was not a pleasant first impression for us. With friendlier service, more attention to new guests, and improvements to a number of dishes, the experience could be much better.

The food wasn't particularly special, but certainly not bad either; just average. What was a real downside for me, however, was the immense crowds and commotion in the restaurant. Because people are constantly walking back and forth to choose their meat, it creates a tremendous amount of movement and noise. As a result, you can barely understand each other if you are sitting opposite each other at a table. Otherwise, the service was just fine.

Bought vouchers via Social Deal to dine with 3 people. The food/meat is exquisitely prepared, deliciously tender, really good quality. The staff is very friendly, good service. What is really annoying is that you never know in advance what your bill will be. The price of the meat is completely unclear! Some vegetables are sold by the piece, such as mushrooms and asparagus. These prices are not listed on the menu. The meat is also priced per kilo on the menu. We really did have a delicious meal. I really can't say anything else. But when the bill comes and you have to pay another 150 euros on top of the vouchers totaling 90 euros. Well, then I think that is a lot of money and I regret that the prices on the menu are a complete mystery. That really should be different.

Beautiful. A large venue with a unique concept.

We often go out to eat throughout the country. The staff was friendly. However, we found the meat options to be very pricey. Undoubtedly, something wasn't right. A piece of chicken thigh was more expensive than tenderloin… Normally, we eat elsewhere for around €100-130, but then everyone gets their own plate, rice, fries, etc. This time, with 5 people, we received one small ball of white rice and one small ball of bulgur. The meat wasn't of a quality that blew me away either. The concept is nice and cleverly thought out. But they need to reconsider the pricing aspect. I also didn't like the mezes you get. Nice to visit once, but that's about it.

We have eaten there several times, but the service has really gone downhill. Not all the vegetables were brought, and they arrived long before the meat did. Very strange; surely you serve them together immediately? Then, charging over 70 euros for less than 300 grams of Wagyu steak is pure theft. For 2 adults and 1 child, the bill ended up being over €172, of which €90 was paid with Social Deals vouchers. I have eaten at Kasap before and it was never this expensive! We also paid for a drink that wasn't even served to us. The only thing I can say is that the food was tasty. But for that price, you can eat elsewhere with fantastic and better service, without being charged for things you don't receive. No more Kasap for us.

Delicious grill that you can put together yourself, tasty salads, delicious mezze and fries, customer-friendly, simply top-notch! Also, the dessert bar across from the entrance is a very nice idea and they have tasty baklava.

Very disappointing service. We ordered bottled water, but it was forgotten until we had to remind the staff. Even then, they brought the bottle without any glasses. Considering the hot weather, we expected prompt, attentive, and efficient service, but unfortunately that was not the case. Nice concept and a beautiful establishment, but unfortunately, the price-quality ratio was disappointing. The portions are very small for the prices charged. Additionally, the quality of the meat was fine, but certainly not exceptional or of a level that justifies these prices. For the meat served, I simply find the prices too high. It is a shame, because the concept certainly has potential.

Was here for the first time today. I do think I could have been asked if I knew what the concept was all about. So that was a bit disappointing, but the meat was superb! And the staff walked around a lot.

We celebrated an important day at Kasap. They were very friendly and decorated the cake beautifully, making it a truly festive occasion. Moreover, they brought a wonderful festive atmosphere with them during delivery, making this day extra special and unforgettable for my daughter. On top of that, the food was incredibly delicious. One feels like they're just a place to eat and leave immediately; there's neither a beautiful view nor a pleasant atmosphere. The food is definitely not as good as hyped up to be, no different from other restaurants. Despite this, the prices are excessively expensive. Asking 16 Euros for a kebab skewer is truly unacceptable. We paid 140 Euros for a very simple lunch for two. The service and quality of the food absolutely did not justify this price. I will not visit this restaurant again and unfortunately cannot recommend it.

The quality of the meat was good, but in my opinion, the prices are far too high. €95 per kilo for lamb chops and €95 per kilo for ribeye is very pricey. Additionally, we ordered the meat dishes well done, but the meat was not yet properly cooked on the inside, while the outside was already bordering on burnt. That was disappointing, especially considering the price you pay. All in all, tasty meat, but we felt the price-quality ratio was not balanced.

As far as I am concerned, Kasap is one of the better places in Utrecht for lovers of good grilled meat. From the moment you enter, you are greeted warmly, and there is a cozy, lively atmosphere. The meat was perfectly prepared: tender, juicy, and full of flavor. You can taste that attention is paid to the quality of the ingredients. The side dishes were also fresh and flavorful, creating a beautiful balance throughout. The service was attentive without being intrusive and was happy to help with making a choice. A restaurant where quality, hospitality, and taste come together. I will certainly return here again and can wholeheartedly recommend Kasap to anyone who loves Turkish cuisine.

Eaten at Kasap for the 2nd time. The 1st time was 5 stars, the 2nd time the food didn't arrive very hot. Otherwise, the food was good. And lots of bread, fries, and rice that you get for free.

The food was quite good. However, we had to pay an exorbitant amount for just a few pieces of meat/chicken. This cost 120 euros including three drinks for two people. Furthermore, you pay so much but get very little rice. For the money paid, we could have eaten at an all-you-can-eat restaurant twice. Not worth repeating.

Paying for parking is too expensive

Excessively expensive, the staff taking our order at the meat counter were rude and the meat was cooked to inconsistent levels... no need to go again. We'll look for another place for our guests now.

Nice concept, but the prices are abnormally high. €15 for one skewer with some chicken wings, €12.50 for one skewer of chicken fillet, and €12.50 for one skewer of Adana is truly out of proportion. It is not at all clear beforehand what you will ultimately spend, but afterwards you get a real shock when you see the bill. Additionally, the meat was burnt, lightly seasoned, and partly even raw, even though I had indicated that I wanted it well-done. In the end, we spent €150 for two people, which is really not in proportion to what you get. For that amount, you can have a much better, more extensive, and higher-quality meal at plenty of other restaurants.

The food is very good. The quality of the meat is very good. But it is often too crowded. Prices are very steep.

What a terrible experience. Absolutely not a second time for me. They charge €50 per kilo of meat. I picked out my meat and literally asked if they could weigh it. Answer: “We don’t weigh.” I was told it was about 1.5 kg, so I thought, fine. Next, I received lamb that was still raw. I indicated that I didn't want this and didn't want a new one either, because I didn't want to wait any longer. When I asked at checkout if that meat had been removed from the bill, an unpleasant argument started immediately. There was an angry reaction, and I was told: “Look for yourself.” The bill turned out to be €130 in the end, even though I already doubted if that could be right at all. I could only view the receipt after I had already paid. Eventually, I didn't feel like dealing with all the hassle anymore and just paid to get it over with.

After eating, 3 out of 4 people experienced nausea, and the common dish among those affected was minced meat/Adana kebab. The next day, we called and said there might be a problem with the minced meat; we were told they would get back to us, but no one called. Serving the food on constantly used cutting boards is also unhygienic! I have no negative comments about the staff.

We've been regulars for years. The food is truly fantastic! Every dish we had was packed with flavor and perfectly prepared. I highly recommend the Adana kebab. Without a doubt, one of the best meals I've had in a while!

Forked out 140 euros in exchange for a stomach bug... My colleagues and I came here for dinner. At first glance, the place looks nice and the meat is all neatly displayed. We were told that we have to pick out the meat ourselves, instead of ordering from a menu. Anyway, we got a cafeteria vibe from this. We all picked out some meat and were told that all the meat was served with rice, fries, and vegetables. We were served a full platter of meat with 2 meager piles of rice and a child's portion of fries... fine. The meat tasted good otherwise. That same evening, we all suffered from nausea, headaches, and a flu-like feeling. We had read several similar reviews beforehand and gambled that it wouldn't happen to us; well, it did. This is definitely not a repeat case...

Tasty food, tender meat, and a nice atmosphere. The concept is interesting. You first choose your meat at the display case as if you were at a butcher's, and then they grill it for you on the BBQ. The meat is well-seasoned and the taste is pleasant. The price is a bit on the high side, but that is to be expected at this type of restaurant. It is worth it though! It is clean and hygienic, and the staff is very sharp and helpful!

The food was tasty; we put together 2 mixed grills plus 2 ribeyes for 6 people. And to finish, we each had a piece of baklava with ice cream. For me, the area for improvement lies with the bread. The first round was nice and warm, but with the next order it was cold and tough. The meze could also be better as far as I'm concerned; they taste like typical salads with lots of mayo. This cost us a total of approx. €60 pp. I think the price-quality ratio is reasonably good!

Very bad experience at Kasap Utrecht. I simply asked to have the meat weighed, but that was refused with a lame excuse that someone was ahead of me. Subsequently, the meat was simply served without being weighed, leaving you with no idea what you are paying. After that, we were also told that we only had an hour to eat, even though that is not indicated anywhere. In a restaurant, you set your own pace. In the end, it turned out to be far too expensive, and we even had to arrange extra money. This is completely lacking in transparency and is absolutely not customer-friendly. I will not be coming back here.

Nice concept where you choose your own meat at the butcher's section of the restaurant. Then the chef prepares it and it is served at the table. And which is always a good sign: it is always busy here. And definitely do not forget to try the baklava here for dessert; it is truly heavenly. My colleagues and I will certainly come back again.

This is the second time I've placed a takeout order here, and again, the prices are wrong. They're very unclear about the exact price. You see a price per kilo, but the final price seems to be much higher. Two skewers cost me €30, which I can't believe. For two people, I paid €124, while it should normally be €60–80. It's not a pleasant or reliable experience. I won't be coming here again anytime soon and advise others to be very careful.

I've eaten here many times. I was almost always satisfied, until today! No tenderloin or steak at 7 p.m. on a Sunday! It's outrageous. I find this unacceptable, considering it's the weekend and lots of people are coming to eat. Such a shame!

Yesterday I went to Kasap Restaurant Utrecht with my wife and children. What a disappointing and unprofessional experience. While eating, I literally found a hair in my dish. When I politely reported this to the staff and later to management, they didn't take it seriously at all. No apology was offered, which I personally find unacceptable in the hospitality industry. To my surprise, we then received a bill of €102, even though we had ordered relatively little. As "compensation" for the hair in the food, they only gave us a €10 discount. This seemed ridiculous and disrespectful, especially considering the situation. When I expressed my displeasure, I noticed the staff reacted with irritation and made it clear they wanted us out of the restaurant as quickly as possible. Instead of customer-focused and professional behavior, I felt completely ignored. This restaurant lacks basic principles such as hygiene, customer service, and responsibility. I strongly advise against dining here, especially not with family or children. For us: once but never again.

Very tasty food, with good service.

We were a group of 10 and had a very disappointing experience. The service was terrible. Every time we needed something, it took an incredibly long time to arrive. Moreover, the restaurant wasn't busy, but there was no dedicated staff member to assist us. As a result, we had to explain our needs to different staff members, which was very inconvenient and frustrating. Unfortunately, the food was also disappointing. We ordered two kilos of kuzu shish kebab, but the meat was rock hard, almost like stone. A real waste of money, especially if you're here to enjoy delicious meat. Furthermore, the staff member behind the counter didn't smile or be friendly at all. This is also something the restaurant really needs to improve. We spent almost €400, but this was the last time for any of us. None of our group was satisfied. After our visit, I emailed the restaurant to explain our complaint, but we never received a response. It seems customer complaints aren't taken seriously. A real shame.

I went here about seven or eight months ago, back when the owner was still around. Unfortunately, the quality of the meat has deteriorated significantly since then. The Adana skewer even had the taste and texture of a frikandel, which was very disappointing. I used to really enjoy the food, but they're no longer up to that standard. I'm also not impressed with the service and the staff. Considering the price, I find both the service and the quality of the food subpar. This is a clear reason for me not to return to Kasap Utrecht. In the future, I might visit the Amsterdam branch again, hoping the experience there will be different.

There were four of us and we clearly indicated when ordering that we wanted to eat together, but we were still served one at a time. That was a real disappointment. I've been here many times in the past and have always been satisfied, but our visit on December 13, 2025, was unfortunately disappointing. It was very busy; staff members were visibly chaotic, and it was also very noisy. We ordered meat dishes, but after 40 minutes, nothing had been served. Suddenly, we were asked if we wanted our burger with or without bread, even though we hadn't ordered a burger at all. Ten minutes later, the food arrived. The staff member indicated that the burger was "on the house" because something had gone wrong with the order. To our surprise, two minutes later, another staff member arrived and said that the burger wasn't for us and wanted to take it away to serve to other guests. This is unhygienic and completely unprofessional; the burger was already on our table and could have been touched. The food itself unfortunately gets one star that day: hard, overcooked, and tasteless. It seemed as if little attention had been paid to the preparation. I expressed my dissatisfaction when I paid. The only response was, "Sorry, it was busy." Despite everything, we were still charged €150 for three people. Very disappointing, especially considering previous good experiences.

I thought I was walking into a restaurant, but apparently I'd landed in some kind of impromptu daycare. Welcome to Kasap Kids Club (but unsupervised). The staff were running around like they'd just finished their first carton of apple juice—focus on the customers? Hardly. When you need them, they're mostly busy chatting amongst themselves in a language I couldn't even recognize, but hey, maybe it was a team meeting… which happened to last all evening. Cleanliness? Let's just say the floor offered a surprise buffet. Leftovers were everywhere, as if someone thought, "Let the atmosphere be authentically chaotic." If you're looking for a place where the staff has an energy level of "just fired from kindergarten" and the cleaning is "we'll do it tomorrow"… then this is your chance.

We came for meat and were given a masterclass in "How to Scare Customers." Even the sausages seemed to pity us, but the staff didn't. 10/10 for drama, 0/10 for friendliness.

I ate at Kasap today for my father's retirement and was definitely not disappointed. I love food grilled over charcoal because of the unique flavor it gives. Add to that the excellent quality of the meat, and you have an unforgettable meal for a reasonable price (at least, if you hide the part of the menu that says "antrikot" with a napkin). It's a fantastic restaurant. I recommend everyone try it at least once. The atmosphere gets 4 stars because I personally prefer very quiet places. Around 6-7 pm, almost every table is reserved.

Unexpectedly busy restaurant, making it difficult to get a table without a reservation. But there are only positives. Great atmosphere and people. Very fast and friendly service. Incredible food, well-prepared and truly what you'd expect to have on your table every day. For meat lovers and Turkish cousins, this is one of the best places in the Netherlands. Reasonable prices. Important to know: alcohol-free culture. Great for a family outing, or a fun evening with a group of friends.

Service was fast, and the meat was delicious, except for the kebab. We didn't get enough vegetables with it. They typically serve side dishes (pilaf and fries) for two people and don't consider the extra charge if you have more. The desserts were delicious. Tea is free.
