We happened to go there and you can get your ice cream after waiting in line for a few minutes. Their ice cream is different from classic ice creams and has a cream topping. The portions are large and the price is reasonable. They only have one flavor, but it's presented in a unique way.

Summary: OK for one time, but not something singular or recommendable. The product is a mix of creme and ice cream. So, the temperature is not like an ice cream, rather it's a bit lukewarm. The store is deliberately designed to create long queue by putting the pickup point at the end of the store and have a narrow passage to be careful while getting out. The store is unfortunately, not a tourist friendly place while it wants to be like a touristic place. Explicitly written no photo or video. Also tourist info costs €5 (!) It also accepts only cash which is a bit weird given the payment rules and also hygienic things. So, be a good boy, no question, pay, get it and go! At the time of our visit the girl who fill the cones, had long artificial nails which again not a good thing for hygienic purposes.

Third time coming here and was deeply let down by the service. On my very first visit, I explicitly asked if I could take photos and videos. A female staff told me it was fine as long as their faces weren't in them. This was completely understandable and I strictly followed this rule every time I returned. This time tho, right after ordering, before I could take a pic of the ice cream machine for memory’s sake, the older male staff who was scoping the ice creams yelled ‘No Chinese cameras’ multiple times while pointing to a crossed-out flip phone sign stuck on the wall. If you truly don’t want any photos/ videos taken then say no cameras or no photos instead of this racist comment. Also, consider updating your signage to a clear "no photos/videos" icon. For the three times I’ve been here, I have just assumed a crossed-out flip phone meant "no phone calls in the shop." This racist behavior completely ruined the experience for me.

I didn't like the ice cream; it tasted mostly of whipped cream. Next time, I'll go to Amorino, which isn't far away.

The very best ice cream in the Netherlands, though it is a shame that it is not available from opening time. This isn't mentioned anywhere either. Golden rule in Amsterdam: shop from the Nieuwendijk to the Muntplein and back, because that means ice cream twice... Unfortunately, that wasn't the case today.

I don't think it is worth the price, it's just creme, people saying it's the best ice cream they ever tasted must've never eaten ice cream in their lives or in a long time. Overpriced, not bad tasting but not that good either.

On May 9, 2026, with the beautiful warm weather in Amsterdam, there was a queue for the privilege of buying ice cream cones. But the sale was very well organized and things moved quickly. The cones were excellent, and the ice cream inside was just as good. A very enjoyable and indulgent treat. The only downside: cash only.

Truly a ridiculously bad experience at this ice cream shop. My husband was standing in line with our two small children, and when it was FINALLY their turn, they blithely told them they were out of ice cream and were closing. Seriously? How can you make people wait that long without saying a word? This is simply pure contempt for your customers. Especially when there are small children present who have been looking forward to an ice cream all that time. No form of customer friendliness or decent communication whatsoever!

Van der Linde is/was fantastic, a household name in the city. But today, April 9, 2026, around 3 in the afternoon, I bought a worthless ice cream there. The whipped cream had turned buttery. The fun is gone for me for a while. Behind the counter stand kids who don't know what they're doing. What a shame.

Probably the best ice we've eaten Cheap - possibly due to cash only Cons - owner was surly and uninterested. - there was no nice atmosphere - more like cattle being herded through quickly. - The cash only - is prime for pickpocketers to start taking you. They some how knew or saw exactly where my wife had her cash. Outside, on the street near Starbucks / primark- someone must have kept bumping into her and they opened the handbag and took only the cash out. - either it was an insider job by the student cashier - someone looking in through the window - someone in the queue, possibly we were being targeted and followed.

Requesting cash-only payment is quite surprising, especially on a main road in Amsterdam. I also noticed that this policy is only indicated inside rather than clearly displayed outside, which can lead to unnecessary queues and confusion. In a country like the Netherlands where most transactions are cashless and many people no longer carry cash this approach is particularly inconvenient. For these reasons, I will not be returning. I would strongly suggest either clearly displaying this policy outside the premises or, ideally, accepting card payments like most businesses in the Netherlands.

Stumbled across this small ice cream shop and decided to grab a small size just to try it and wow, it was so good I ended up going back for a second one. The ice cream is super light but still really creamy, not heavy at all, which made it way too easy to keep eating. The shop itself is tiny and feels more like a quick grab-and-go spot. One thing to note: it’s cash only, and literally everything is extra — even napkins. Kinda surprising, but honestly the ice cream was good enough that I didn’t mind too much. If you’re nearby and craving something sweet, it’s definitely worth stopping by (just make sure you have cash on you).

Small takeout shop, fast-moving line, and no-nonsense service. Van der Linde is simply a household name. It's amazing that the prices have remained low for all these years, and the quality remains consistent. Eight delicious whipped cream truffles for €2.50 are, in my opinion, unmatched anywhere else. The whipped cream flavor is unparalleled. The whipped cream ice cream remains truly special. If you love whipped cream products, there's no better!

A masterclass in greed – never again. ​This place is clearly focused on maximum profit at the expense of the customer. They serve their ice cream in cheap plastic drinking cups and actually charge 10 cents extra for a simple plastic spoon. Simply the best truffles in the Netherlands because they taste like whipped cream, and should. The balance of butter, cream, and sugar is perfect. People who claim they taste too much like whipped cream and/or don't like them (enough) simply don't know how truffles are supposed to taste.

After I walked into the restaurant, I was greeted by two security guards who introduced themselves as Hosea and Javier. They told me that the guy who makes the ice cream is named Arthur Morgan and asked me to thank him if I liked it. I sat down, opened the menu, and there were tons of ice cream flavors: “Tuberculosis” — looked like regular ice cream; “Plan” — looked like a mango tree with a hanging fruit; “Tahiti” — a very unusual shape; “High Honor” — looked like a smiling deer against a sunset. And many others. I ordered the “Tuberculosis” and “Plan” ice creams. They were brought to me by a waiter named John Marston. The Tuberculosis ice cream tasted weird but good, while the Plan ice cream was very tasty. Before I left, the manager named Dutch Van Der Linde came up to me and asked me to give the café 5 stars because he needed the money to execute his plan. On my way out, a rat blocked the exit, and the strangest thing happened: Arthur Morgan walked up to the rat and said, “Get out from here, Micah!” — and the rat ran away. After leaving the restaurant, I noticed I started feeling unwell and coughing blood.

Buying and having an ice cream should be a happy occasion. But I did not feel it as I left with my "ICE CREAM" cone. No pictures inside, the signs states, watched by eagle eye staff, cash only and move along like a canteen line. It was just a cold cream cone.

The quality is good, but you really have to like whipped cream. The ice cream has a nice texture but tastes very much like whipped cream. The marrowbone is also filled with only whipped cream. I prefer the truffles, because they also have a layer of chocolate around them, but otherwise, I find it all way too rich. I think the prices are great. If you like whipped cream, I would definitely stop by, but I would prefer a wider variety of flavors.
