As children, mothers would take us here to get a delicious ice cream. The whipped cream truffles are also delicious. Little has changed about the concept since then, including the colored plastic discs. Except for the opening hours... I have been in front of a closed door many times. So a visit to Amsterdam with an ice cream from van der Linden has become a big gamble.

Small crowded shop in downtown Amsterdam. Overflowing is meant positively here. Ice cream was good. Basically it's a firmer type of soft ice cream with whipped cream on top. The price was definitely very fair for Amsterdam and the service was really nice. I think it was the owner. Clear recommendation even in cold Dutch rainy weather.

Delicious ice cream, pastries for a reasonable price! A household name in Amsterdam and yes the lines are often long, staff are not always friendly but what do you want with all that crowds ;) and yes you can't pay by card but that has its charm so I really don't understand the complaining. Don't go there again, especially for the people who appreciate this place and are not whiners ;) Hopefully you will stay there for a long time!

The Dutch-style pancake cream ice cream is a must-try. The ice cream is sandwiched between pancakes. It is very unique and has a dense and sweet taste!

Van der Linde's ice cream was okay, but not a must. The texture was creamy and the flavor was solid, but I felt it was missing that certain something that would have made it a special experience. It's perfectly fine for a quick ice cream, but there are definitely better options if you're looking for an exceptional ice cream experience. The service was friendly, but overall I wouldn't necessarily recommend the ice cream if you're looking for something special.

First of all, I don't think it will appeal to Turks very much. I bought 1 scoop of ice cream, whipped cream, it's an average taste, I think it's not worth it if there's a lot of it. Price per price I think this is no special taste. It is normal for this price. Note, only cash

The tastiest whipped ice cream in Amsterdam and the surrounding area. They also have delicious truffles and marrow bones. I don't like cookies and then you can order a cup, which is a plastic drinking cup with your ice cream in it. And then the payment, just nice and cash and no ATM.

Delicious ice cream with only one flavour, vanilla. It can be ordered in a biscuit cone in three sizes and can be ordered in a plastic cup or in the form of a sandwich. The only drawback is that payment is cash only.

It was very fresh and the sweet vanilla and chocolate were very delicious. Try it when you really crave something sweet.

There is almost always a queue in front of the narrow shop at number 183. It is always your turn to go outside with a delicious ice cream cone. Prices never seem to go up. In addition to this deliciousness, they are also excellent in their whipped cream truffles, cakes & marzipan marrow bones (cake sticks with marzipan and whipped cream). The amazing thing is that I am always surprised that it is even tastier than I remembered. Try anything at this address. And they certainly have a fan.

The. Ice cream is worth trying. Not too special but different. The service is very slow… they only sell one product, and they are so slow doing that. Unbelievable! They only accept cash, which is a down side. A medium size cone is quite big and enough for one person.

The staff/owner is very rude about not accepting the credit card. It’s fine if you don’t accept the credit cards but don’t treat tourists as if they have “no money”. You just don’t accept their money . So don’t be so rude about it.

The ice cream is very good, but hygiene is lacking. They only accept cash and whoever handles the money then takes the wafer of your ice cream with their bare hands. Disgusting. At least use a napkin! Also, when they are close to closing (5pm), no one comes out to warn the people in line that they are not accepting customers anymore and it happened to me (after 15 minutes of queuing!) to arrive in front of the counter and the owner said that the customer before me would be the last one he would serve. Very unprofessional. It is not enough to sell a good product: hygiene care and respect for the customer are equally important!

My favorite soft ice cream so far. This is not only with ice cream, it scooped together with a bit fresh whipped cream too, this makes it so creamy. Every weekend when I am around amsterdam and the weather is a bit hot. I must go to take one. The shop is quite small, so you commonly will see a long line. But do not be scared, they serve really fast, so the line moving fast too. Be aware: it’s CASH ONLY

It is not an ice cream it is a heavy cream and t does not even iced , it is little bit cold not tasty at all. We throw it we couldn’t even complete it.

Tasty ice cream but a bit vague condition. There is a line almost halfway to Dam Square and it is finally your turn, there are girls of about 12 years old who are given instructions on the spot by an older man on how to fill the container. The fact that you cannot pin what you see in many comments also indicates one thing... This way it is impossible to check how much is being sold. Bit of a vague approach. Of course you can keep the prices a bit cheaper.

A very unique ice cream experience. This is a VERY small spot with no seating indoor or out. The menu offerings are very minimal. The staff was very friendly. This is CASH ONLY. There was a line out the door. The whole thing felt like the Seinfeld soup episode. All that being said, I would highly recommend. The taste of the ice cream was like nothing I’d had before. More like a whipped cream than an ice cream. A must try experience if in Amsterdam city centre.

Dejamos en Dam Square en tranvía y simplemente caminamos por un pasillo. Nos dimos cuenta de que al final del pasillo, la gente estaba tomando helados alrededor. Entonces puedes encontrar la cola. Sí, lo es. Solo tienen helado Villia pero puedes seleccionar el tamaño con conos, con tazas o con gofres. Es súper suave. A veces me confundía la textura entre la mousse y la crema suave. Pero es mucho más suave que dos. Y estamos contentos de que la dulzura esté bien equilibrada. El helado no solo tenía sabor a azúcar. El cono es crujiente. El regusto es ligero y todavía puedes tener espacio para otros. Es una muy buena experiencia.

Beste meneer, het zou heel aardig zijn sls u een briefje op de deur van uw winkel hangt met de openingstijd van de dag. Ik zag om 9.30 personeel en uzelf in de winkel. Er werden dingen in de vitrines gelegd. Ik denk ik wacht tot 10 uur voor de deur omdat de begintijd is van de andere dagen ( er waren ook andere wachtende klanten). Het personeel ziet ons staan. Om 10.05 klop ik op het raam. Het personeel haalt u en u komt naar buiten om te zeggen dat de winkel om 11 uur opengaat. Het is jammer dat u niet de moeite heeft genomen om uw wachtende klanten voor de deur even wat eerder te zeggen dat u pas om 11 uur opengaat. Uw producten zijn goed, maar ervan uitgaan dat mensen anderhalf uur willen wachten komt op mij toch wat arrogant over. Ook uw klanten zijn gewoon mensen. Vriendelijke groet, Nancy

Waited in line only to be told they were out of ice cream when we got to front and it was early in the evening. Opt for a cup as the older gentleman was getting paid touching money and also touching cone and placing ice cream without a paper towel wrapped around the cone! So your eating a cone with all the germs from the dirty money. Can't comment on flavor as like I said they were out of ice cream at 5:00pm. I doubt they were out, I think they just wanted to close. They younger boy was closing lights in fridges even though there was a line and didn't notify anyone they were "out of ice cream".

You can see the traditional way of making ice cream. They pour the milk into an ice cream maker and quickly prepare your ice cream. The taste of ice cream is very natural and delicious.

The shop is small, you can't really eat inside, and there is often a queue, which are things you should know. However, the ice cream is pretty good ! It's a nice cheap but quality treat, you should definitely try it at least once

I know you may not care to read my negative review and you will go eat this ice cream no matter what because it is really nice. But I was really surprised how rude was the manager, I arrived almost 5min before closing, I was having a French fries with just a mayo sauce! He said I don’t want any smelly food in my shop! And u need to go outside! Sorry I won’t throw my fries which also I’ve waited on a long line to get it. I really felt that I was entering a medical lab maybe I will ruin his recipe? Or maybe he hate fries brand? It’s really a shame that when people they don’t care for you as individual, they won’t know that you were traveling for 2hrs to have that bad experience. The question is let’s say I went outside until I will finish my fries, he will let me goes in after five? Or just say oh sorry we are closing?

I really didn't like this ice cream, although I had high expectations because this place has been known in the city for decades for its whipped ice cream. I thought it was so gross that I threw away my cone. It was half ice cream (which was tasty in itself, but not mind-blowing) and in between were large lumps of warm whipped cream. It looked like semifreddo/parfait, which I really don't like. There's no accounting for taste, so maybe others will like it, but the place is also unpleasant, with unfriendly staff, a long line, and no ATM. The only plus point is the reasonable prices (compared to other businesses in the center). So the first and last time for me unfortunately.
