Really great tasting coffee......

Coffee is good. Service leaves something to be desired sometimes.

i had a to go drink, and the service is so slow, they have many staffs but they’re busy talking.

Seems over rated, asked for a cortado - received a cold machiato. My wife tried the Macha latte and it was niet lekker. Waiting 10 mins for drinks not great either.

The reviews are accurate. I just got the coldest coffee of my life, even though I repeated twice that I wanted it boiling hot. Even worse, their cold coffee is more expensive than Starbucks! This is a perfect example of how lack of competition works - they can get away with it simply because they're right below the library, while Starbucks is a 6-7 minute walk away.

Delicious lemon cake, decent matcha latte, and very friendly and welcoming staff.

Best coffee in Amstelveen probably, good alternative milk options and sweets. The also have savoury toasts so you can get a full breakfast

I had sencha + plane scone here and it was delicious! The scones were a little more chewy than the ones I had in England, but when you cut them, they collapsed like sand castles, so they weren't bad! It was nice that they provided separate tea pots so you could brew the tea to your liking. The staff are very friendly and the cafe atmosphere is really nice. There is a library upstairs and a bookstore around the cafe, so it's not too noisy and there are plenty of seats, so it wouldn't be a bad idea to start off the weekend morning by enjoying some leisurely time.

Terrible service. We ordered three coffees and a pie. The coffees arrived and the pie didn't. After waiting for long minutes, we asked where the pie was and the extremely rude attendant said she didn't know if she had charged for the pie, so she didn't bring anything. Very unprepared staff and complete lack of education.

The coffee is as cold as my ex's heart. The ambiance gives you that 'visiting grandma's house' vibe, if grandma was a minimalist who didn't believe in comfort or joy. The cafe sits with the ironic charm of a wolf in sheep's clothing, nestled under a library that radiates warmth and welcome, much like a mirage in a dessert. If you're fooled into thinking you can enjoy a peaceful read with your coffee here, think again. This place is as cozy as a dentist's waiting room and about as welcoming as a tax audit. The waitresses here have the kind of charm that would turn Medusa to stone. During my visit, they shooed me away from the bar seat like it was a private club for Friday's laptop-haters. Tried to sit at another table with my laptop? Nope, laptops and iPads are the café's public enemy number one every day of the week! In short, Venstra Cafe is as delightful as finding a raisin in your cookie when you're expecting chocolate chip. It's absurdity incarnate, and if that's your cup of tea—or should I say, your lukewarm cup of disappointment—then by all means, venture forth.

For some reason I was told by the waiter I can't use my laptop on the regular tables, only on the counter although that is not depicted on any signs (correction, there's a small sign by the register). I don't like to be told what I can or can't do as a paying customer so I won't be coming back here for sure.

It's a shame that the cafe often closes at 5:00 PM (it says 6:00 PM on Google). The coffee and cakes/pies taste good. The staff are nice and helpful. It can take a long time before the coffee and food actually reach your table.

Took quite a long time for the order to arrive, coffee was delicious, the frozen iced coffee was very disappointing.

Went to the cafe last Friday at about 2 p.m. to buy a pack of coffee. From start to finish it took 20 minutes for one pack of coffee. It was not busy at all and there were six staff members (so it could be done very quickly) but they were very clumsy and unprofessional. For example, they did not know how the device worked to seal a pack of quick filter grounds airtight and could not provide good information about the choice of coffee. A number of beans also fell out of the bag in the meantime. When the employee went to ask how the vacuum device worked, she stayed away for a long time. When I wanted to pay, it took a long time again and it was suddenly said that the price was €8.50, while the website said €7.95. I wanted to pay with a €10 note and there was no change. All in all, missed the bus and no excuse whatsoever. So this was my last visit to the Venstra Café, despite the good quality of the Boot brand.

Coffee was very tasty. Employees had just woken up or had problems, but luckily that went away.

It is always annoying that when you e.g. pastry and coffee means that this is not delivered at the same time, but that the coffee is brought 5 or sometimes 10 minutes later than the pastry. They are quite pricey. An easy place to meet because it is easy to find, even for people from outside Amstelveen.

Op diverse sites, diverse openingstijden… Op vrijdagmiddag mag je, bij gods gratie, om 16.30 nog haastig een kop koffie to go bestellen en daarna wegwezen, omdat ze om 17.00 dicht gaan. Verbonden aan een ‘literaire’ boekhandel die om 18.00 uur sluit… Ga wel ergens anders naartoe in het vervolg, jammer, wel lekkere koffie

Best place to start your day on a sunny morning

Nice central location near the library and bookstore. It looks cozy. The coffee is always delicious. They also have Oat Milk! A counter full of goodies, especially the apple pie and banana bread are my favorites! Always farm fresh! It is always busy and sometimes the queue is a bit long. The quality of the staff varies. Sometimes young inexperienced students. Very friendly. We'd love to come there!

Bad cake, ordinary coffee and terrible service!They literally kick out the customers from the tables when they finish their drinks. A very weird mentality to understand for an American.

Perfect coffee. The coffee is from Boot from Baarn. If you visit often enough you can taste all the coffee, as the coffee type changes often.

Don't go here! I arrived on a Friday and saw a sign saying "no work stations today". Without wanting to work here and just checking my email while enjoying a cup of coffee, this was not possible because I would then be "working"... While there are 3 other tables with laptops open. Nothing was done about this... A bit strange. I understand that there are people who sit somewhere all day on 1 cup of coffee. However, that does not apply to me, I planned to have something to drink and eat and continue on my way within 30 minutes. I felt embarrassed by the blonde lady who was supposed to be 'in charge' here. Rude and arrogant. I'll never come here again.

I ordered poppy seed scones with cream and jam, which was simply delicious and satisfying, also the coffee was too strong and they offered to make me a new one. I just wanted to add milk so it was delicious and successful coffee and very friendly staff.

I highly recommend this restaurant. They don't even come to you to take your order. Instead of helping people, they sit and chat with each other. I left without using anything. I've also had negative experiences with it before. I don't come here anymore.

Desserts were a bit too sweet. Other than that, it was good.

Very atmospheric occasion. A must for reading enthusiasts.

The bookstore we had visited already on multiple occasions. This cafe inside it looks appealing, but somehow we always walked past it. This time I took some time to get a tea and apple juice with my daughter. Friendly staff, nice seating and it was good to see some scrablle going on at the large table. A nice place. If you want to nuy or browse some books, be sure to have a tea here as well.

I really like the atmosphere of this cafe. If you're bringing your laptop with you, and need power plug, sit on the bars. The cafe is divided into two sections if you see that there are not enough.

Nice cafe in a bookshop which I love, but €5,40 for a regular sized latte with some ice cubes and call it an iced latte is ridiculous. Stop ripping people off.

A cozy place to settle down for a while. On Fridays we met a pianist there a few times. The coffee is tasty and the staff nice and helpful.

Coffee taste is good but it is usually “warm” not “hot”. Staff steams a large amount of milk at once and uses it as needed. Awful. Milk should be steamed per order and maintain around 70 degrees celcius and slightly more for take away. Not sure if they are even properly trained baristas. I saw and asked if the milk was hot as it was sitting at the counter and the rude male employee touched the cup and said yes. Lazy. If it was in fact correct temperature he wouldn’t be able to touch it so easily. My expectations for coffee in the NL is low but please, warm/lukewarm coffee is bloody awful.

A cafe inside a small shopping mall. There was a large bookstore right next door, and the atmosphere was quiet. They also sold seasonings and miscellaneous goods. I want to buy books and relax during the day on my days off.
