Vintage clothes - proceeds to charity in Haarlemmerbuurt

A wonderful initiative, run by volunteers. All proceeds from the shop's sales go towards helping our homeless fellow citizens find their way. Think of things like dental care, but also helping them find work and housing.

De Volksbond: A fantastic initiative, and the owner, John, is a sweetheart! Don't forget to bring items, especially for men: shoes, socks, sweaters, sleeping bags, scarves, hats, gloves, bags, toiletries, towels, tea towels, granola bars, thermoses. And give some change or buy a hot sandwich and a coffee to go. It's going to be terribly cold. These people desperately need it. And no, they're not all drug addicts (so what?). Many people have gone bankrupt and ended up on the streets. You can read about this in the Zinkrant and the Mug. You can buy the Zinkrant from the vendor at the supermarket. He's not just standing there! He's doing his job and gets a share of the proceeds. We're all human, so let's help each other!!! Next to De Volksbond, you'll find the homeless café. It's run by volunteers. There's always something to be said for frozen soup, bread, a bag of tangerines, etc. A pretty bunch of flowers would brighten things up a bit!

A very nice project for the homeless. Also, a great second-hand shop with very reasonable prices, right in the middle of this antisocially expensive yuppie street.
