This was truly a treat. We consider ourselves (vegetarian) foodies and would recommend this to anyone. Love and attention to food and guests, authentic Indonesian cuisine, and a passion for veganism. Pure enjoyment!

My grandchildren picked up five portions and paid €72.50 for a product that doesn't deserve to be called an Indonesian meal. It's a scandalous amount of money for five paper bags of white rice with some additions like tofu, broken beans, and some other unidentifiable stuff. They were also treated very rudely. Living in Mideelburg, we will never do this again and will spread the word widely.

Authentic Indonesian food in Middelburg. The warung exudes the atmosphere of Indonesian eateries, and the dishes taste like you're actually in Indonesia! The rendang, terong, and nangka (jackfruit) were delicious! Guests eat together at a long table, which guarantees new encounters. It's nice that the owner even stopped by for a chat. If you love good Indonesian food, skip the Indian restaurants and dine at Warung Senang.

We had an exceptionally delicious meal at Warung Senang. With our first bite, we immediately said: "Yes, this is Indonesian!" And how cozy it was to be at one table. We understand that some people need a little time to get used to not having their own table. But this is the same atmosphere you find in Indonesia. Eating is a social event. You naturally strike up a conversation. Kudos to the chef. We felt like we were back in Indonesia.

Delicious food and what a fun concept! The owner makes different dishes every day and you can choose 4 of them. There is 1 long table and everyone sits at it. I was there on my own and automatically started talking to another tourist opposite me who was also alone. The owner also sits down for a chat when he is not busy. He knew a lot to tell about so many things. Super interesting and fun!

I will give an honest review as an Indonesian. 4 stars overall, but 3 stars for the food. Good variations of food, but the only meat choice was the rendang meat. Wish there had been at least one other meal option. The food tasted good and I appreciate the attempt of wrapping all the stuff altogether in a wax paper to create the typical “nasi rames” meal. I do however have a few thoughts on the food: 1. The terong meal was too sour (almost tasted like it was not fresh), or maybe there was a little too much tomatoes, I don’t know but definitely needs improvement there, given many reviews that say the food is great. 2. The jackfruit meal tasted fine has too much “kentjur” in it, and the originam jackfruit curry we have at home do not even have that much kentjur. We like it in our food but not too much. 3. The tempe was nice but again, a little sour in my opinion, so maybe it was not fresh or the same case with the terong meal. 4. The rendang meat was good. 5. The rice and sambal tasted good, the sambal was spicy (as spicy as what I expected from an Indonesian sambal). The owner was friendly. To find a place like this in Middelburg sure is nice. I think if the food could be more fresh or the recipe could be improved a little, it will be better. Veel succes!

Warung Senang has organized vegan catering for 20 people for us. The taste and bite were very good. And if you didn't know, you wouldn't suspect it was vegan.

A surprising eatery in the center of Middelburg! We came here after a tip from a friend and it turned out well. The food is really delicious and portion is generous. There are many vegan options, but for those who really want meat, there is also beef. The spekkoek is a great dessert and should certainly not be missed! The interior of the store is modest. There is seating for a small number of visitors and there is also one table outside for 2 people. However, the price and quality make up for a lot! We spent 42 euros for 2 full plates with rice and four dishes, 2 drinks and spekkoek. Definitely recommended if you want to eat something quickly and relatively cheaply.
