Waterkant in Jordaan

Food was nice, service was good, but we were stuck in the corner with no space to move at all. We made a reservation and we got the worse table possible.

Waterkant is such a wonderful spot — the atmosphere and setting are truly enjoyable, and it’s a place I’d love to return to. However, I did feel that some of the staff were quite rude and even seemed angry at times, which took away from the otherwise great experience. I hope management takes note, because the venue itself is excellent, and with friendlier service it could be outstanding.

Great, chill little place with super pretty views and a comfortable vibe even during winter- excited to see it during the summer someday. Good, well-priced beer and tasty snacks.

Have you ever seen someone that rushes you to distribute the cake to you birthday guests, literally standing in front of you telling you to hurry and that “they are making an exception for you”? This is what would happen if you plan your birthday at waterkant. Place is great, drinks too. Service? Throw it out the window. Never met rudest personnel in my life. I am not the owner of the place. you should propose solutions to your clients or tell them if some things are unfeasible. It would have been sufficient to place my cake to the side tables, or to propose to do it outside, where we could have taken our time. That would have been a decent idea! Not putting my table in front of the console, while other people that fairly wanted to enjoy the music had to wait for us. But one of the guys at the bar didn’t have enough acumen to think about a better solution than that. Big applause for you! Unfortunately I was starting to get a bit pissed by it, so I didn’t think myself about these solutions in that moment, because they just went straight into moving our table (again, in front of the console). They might reply saying that some of my guests were late, that’s true, but as I have extensively mentioned, there were better solutions available, and he imposed the worst one. It’s not an exaggeration to say you ruined my birthday and made me feel very uncomfortable.

Nice cozy place to have drinks with friends near the canals

A bar with character and no filter. The music is booming, the people are laughing, and sometimes something flies across the bar – out of enthusiasm, that is. The beer is cold, the staff is friendly, the atmosphere is wild but cozy. If you're looking for perfection, you should go to a hotel bar.

We went there at night for drinks. Horrible staff, the waitress was screaming and having a horrible attitude towards everyone- would not return there!

Great big outdoor patio which is such a fun gathering place with a lovely canal view. I got the surinamese mule which had a very strong delicious ginger flavor and the heri heri which was so tasty and filling with a generous portion size.

Had a reservation with a whole group. One person called them and canceled, and then the whole reservation was canceled. And we were left out in the cold with the whole group (18 people). We looked for another restaurant. What a shame.

I went there as a bar: a superb atmosphere throughout the evening that makes you want to stay there! Whether it's to have a quiet drink by the canal or to dance to the DJ's music with your friends, this place is made for you :)

Didn’t eat but fun bar, pop music and lovely waterside setting with all seats with good views. Looks a bit shabby chic so is not sophisticated but much enjoyed.

Love to come here at any time and just have some beers, snacks and hang out with friends and meet new people. Been going to Waterkant for some time now since I moved to Ams, and this place never disappoints, always so chill and relaxing with DJ nights on the weekends!

Don't spend your money here. They're incredibly overpriced, and they haven't heard of service or hospitality. I order nachos from the menu, for 10 euros. The description says guacamole and salsa. I get the container, and it's just tortilla chips, guacamole, and salsa. So I ask where the cheese is. It's not on there, and the menu says so. I ordered the nachos, not the super nachos. That's right. It says so on the menu. But without cheese, these aren't nachos. This is a bowl of chips and dips. Nachos are supposed to have cheese. I was still indignant. So I walked inside to ask if I could have a little cheese on them. I was happy to pay a little extra. But no, that wasn't possible. I either had to get the larger nacho platter (which costs 17 euros!), with more chips and therefore cheese, or the container I had. She couldn't put cheese on my chips; I had to have the super nachos. Regular nachos were out of the question. They were NOT nachos, but chips with dips. Because nachos have cheese. I did mention that, but then they said, "We decide what's on the menu." I didn't want such a large portion, but a slightly smaller one. The staff's attitude was quite defensive and a bit arrogant. As I was walking away, I was laughing about it with my colleagues. She wasn't wrong. It was indeed on the menu, but these aren't nachos. And that's not how you handle things. They either made me pay a few euros extra (at my initiative, which I'm glad I did), or they just gave me a little cheese on top and said, "We don't really do this, but just this once. Next time, you'll know better." The attitude and service were completely unfriendly. I definitely won't be coming back.

Great location overall by the water! Especially in the summer, one of my favourite in Amsterdam. Really nice food and drinks.

The food was excellent and delicious. DON'T order sangria: a little wine diluted with plenty of water and ice, along with some lemons and oranges. The atmosphere was pleasantly busy.

This beer garden is so charming. It has the perfect layout for sitting in the sun or seeking some shade, all with a wonderful view of the canal. It was moderately busy when I visited (on a Sunday), the atmosphere stood out as lively. I would easily return here to relax and take in the views 🌞

A great place to go with friends for an afternoon drink of beer next to a canal while watching the sunset. It's usually packed, even though there are plenty of high benches and tables. They offer the typical snacks, but with a Surinamese origin.

We went for a drink after seeing it recommended on several travel sites. I definitely recommend it. The place is very cool and right on the canal, a cool place with a good atmosphere.

We went because it was recommended by locals, I think it was a Friday. It was extremely crowded, and we barely found a seat. It's a hangout for Amsterdam university students, with a young average age, a nice view but very loud, and the beer is just okay. Brouwerij't, another local recommendation, is much better than here, and we liked both the atmosphere and the beer better.

Beautiful location but unfortunately the food and homemade drinks were not to taste. They use syrup while it says homemade. In addition, my experience is that the ingredients are used very sparingly, which means that the flavors remain flat and bland. Too bad, because the dish clearly has potential if more attention is paid to the taste. An unknown pearl on the water! You can easily park your car in the Q-parking. Food is delicious, nice menu. Felt at home right away.

Very nice place, you get to sit next to the canal. Their cinnamon buns are amazing! And their cocktails too. Only thing that is a bit annoying is that in summer it gets extremely full but that is what you sing up for, still such a nice place

Nice tasty Suriname food (roti chicken 16.90€), drinks, specific local atmosphere, good music, however is super packed during sunny days, too crowded to feel relaxed, nice local community. Lovely girls ! Good DJs, could not experience the face floor, it was too packed on Saturday evening.

Got the “juicy tequila” cocktail, which promises home made iced tea. Lipton iced tea served, despite the €3 premium over other cocktails.

To spend a moment with friends super perfect

A very enjoyable bar by the canal. We stopped by for a beer in the evening. It's a place with mostly locals, we loved it. You can also try the famous Dutch bitterballen while you're there.

We had a very disappointing experience. Service was terrible from the start. We ordered three dishes and beers, but after 10 minutes with no drinks in sight, we had to go get the beers ourselves. Two of the dishes arrived, but the third one was delayed by 25 minutes. When we asked about it, the waitress told us it would be delayed another 10 minutes. When we expressed our frustration, the manager came over—but instead of offering an apology or any explanation, she was dismissive and almost rude. He just said the kitchen was busy, as if that was an acceptable excuse for poor service. Overall, the experience left a very bad impression, and we won’t be returning.

Not worth it anymore. It used to be so nice at Waterkant with a nice atmosphere and good quality drinks. Yesterday, we ordered 2 Aperol spritz for 23€ and they were gross. Served in a beer glass and clearly from a premixed bottle. I’d expect a better quality for this price & location.

Very well located restaurant, with beautiful views of the river, pleasant African atmosphere with Suriname colors and style, very delicious food, we ordered a soup, very good flavor, with rice, the simple rice, nothing special but it was not ugly either, and some wrap type 🫔, I did not try them because they are spicy and I do not like spicy, but my boyfriend liked them a lot, affordable prices, service I did not perceive any, since you yourself place your order at the cashier and go to pay right there and my boyfriend was the one who did this, I only had contact with the waitress who served us the food and it was nothing remarkable.

One of the best bars in Amsterdam for drinks. Food is simple mostly deep dried snacks but the atmosphere is great and it's always busy on sunny days. I come here all the time. Bar staff are kinda slow so you might have to wait a while.

Pretty cool! Their burger was really good. Fries too. And their other dishes aren't too bad either, quite busy and that's cool! On the other hand, it was a little expensive compared to other restaurants. But the taste of the burger makes up for it a little. We went there at midday, but it's certainly busier in the evening, especially when the weather is a little nicer, in spring or summer. We have a view of a canal, it's still nice.

It was a good day with the family, but the food is not so good and the price is expensive

It was a cozy place with great foods, and we really enjoyed gathering together there. We have have been there for more than 3 hours and the price for each our was around 10 euro for each of us. Great and respectful staff, we enjoyed our gathering and the service was great as well. Thank you guys.
