De Lichtmis, grew up with truck drivers. By now, only 10% of the parking space is reserved for truck drivers. Inside, you basically get stared at right at the door. Okay, everyone deserves a second chance, let's take a shower first. You pay 7.50 for that; that is the most expensive shower I have ever paid for in my career... On average, prices are around 3 to 4 euros. This is just draining the driver's wallet. I was planning to go eat there at first, but I just didn't feel like it anymore. In any case, I am never coming back. Scammer!

This is the first time we ate here after the renovation. It is quite different, and yet very much the same. The food is fine and it is pleasantly busy. People are working hard and the staff is super friendly.

After a long journey, we stopped at Lichtmis for dinner. We decided to start with the creamy tomato soup with meatballs and whipped cream. Next, we chose the meatballs served deep-fried with some raw vegetables. Neither of us saw a meatball in the soup. After pointing this out, it was brushed aside because we were supposed to get a large meatball anyway. To my surprise, I heard jokes in the (open) kitchen about the meatballs that weren't in it. Eventually, we were served the meatball, which was definitely not artisanal, but the worst part is that it was warm, but that is about all there is to say. I just let it go, but I certainly won't be coming back here. It's not so much about those few small meatballs, but rather about how they are handled!!

Parking for about 10 cars, 35 euros, no refund on food, you can go to the shower and toilet. At the reception in the restaurant, when I asked why there was no refund on food, they said that it was before. Also, the parking lot stinks of garbage. Refugees are parked anywhere. I do not recommend it.

Beautiful, atmospheric location, but unfortunately no vegetarian options, except for a sandwich with dips.

We had a delicious meal. Despite it being busy, the food arrived reasonably quickly. The De Lichtmis platter as a starter is highly recommended.

September 1, 2025 - There's a new building under construction on the square, probably a McDonald's, but parking on the left side is easy. There's plenty of space around 3-4 p.m., and around 7-8 p.m., there's probably no need to bother (at least on Tuesdays). We pay €35 for parking at the ticket office and get a €15 bar voucher. Most dishes cost extra. The burger was edible, but not mind-blowing. A burger and a small beer cost less than €21. The service was very friendly and helpful. Showers and restrooms are available from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. I think. They're closed at night. In the morning, before the restaurant opens, there's coffee in the lobby from a "bain-marie," a very nice touch. It's quiet and peaceful at night. I recommend it! Edit August 13, 2026 - I was here after the renovation. There are still spaces for trucks, it's relatively clean, and there are showers and toilets for drivers, but that's about it. Unfortunately, we pay €35 and, apart from the toilets, there's nothing included. Less than a year ago, there was a voucher for a restaurant, and now there's nothing, very poor. One star more for the toilets.

It has become really beautiful (after the fire) friendly staff

We were a group of 30 people and had made a reservation weeks ago. Despite this, the organization was poor; at table 1, the risotto was not served at the same time as the food for the other 7 people at the table, and at table 2, a schnitzel was not served at the same time as the others. Furthermore, the fried potatoes and fries only arrived after some people had already finished their schnitzel. An order for drinks was also not served, yet it appeared on the bill immediately. It is a good thing we keep track of everything we consumed ourselves, otherwise you end up paying way too much. We are therefore far from satisfied and will not be returning here.

It's been our 2nd visit on our Northern Europe tour and we even did a slight detour to dine here again. Fantastic food, very friendly staff and a great atmosphere. Not sure during the day, but the restaurant seems to be very busy in the evenings, but after 8pm it quietens down a bit. If we're ever back in the area that's definitely our go-to restaurant.

There is a bald gentleman walking around who was very friendly and jovial towards the Dutch customers 😊🇳🇱, but came across as very businesslike and distant to me 😐. I got the impression that this might have to do with my foreign background and appearance. That gave me a strange and uncomfortable feeling 😬. Additionally, there was a younger, somewhat plump lady working there who took two attempts to clear my table.. When everything was finally gone, she didn't even wipe the table clean with a cloth. In the end, I had to ask the other employee to do it after all 🙋‍♂️. I also found the serving of the pancake unprofessional 😟. The pancake was brought without a tray, just on one hand with a cloth because the plate was hot 🔥🍽️. It was a close call; the plate almost slipped out of her hand 😳. All in all, a very strange experience 🤔. Fortunately, the pancake was really tasty 😋, but the cappuccino ☕ was very small and therefore quite pricey 💸. That is why I am giving 2 stars: 1 ⭐ for the beautiful restaurant 🏡✨ and 1⭐ for the tasty pancake with cheese 🥞🧀.

I had already been sitting outside for 20 minutes during which various waitstaff walked past without being asked if I wanted to order. Eventually, I just called to ask if they didn't serve outside. When someone finally came, friendliness was nowhere to be found. I'm not allowed to swear at anyone, but.........

It's a shame you can't order soup, only from 5:00 PM. When we asked if we wanted something to eat and I indicated a soup, the wait staff didn't mention that this is only possible from 5:00 PM. I had ordered a healthy sandwich a few days ago; I received it on a delicious small baguette/pizza, and so today I wanted to get another tasty sandwich, but I got 2 slices of half-soggy brown bread with so much on it that I couldn't eat it properly. Then I explained my problem and they said that's how it's supposed to be? And on top of that, I had to wait 15/20 minutes for this "sandwich." I really don't get it.

Reasonably good for a fine lunch along the highway. It's a shame that so much pickle is put on a carpaccio sandwich, while this is not mentioned on the menu.

Nice location, service not very attentive; they didn't realize we were sitting on the terrace, so we had to call someone inside ourselves. After that, the food and drinks arrived quickly, looked good, and tasted good. It's a nice place in itself, but it just isn't quite there. It's not quite a cozy restaurant, but it's also not a trendy spot where everything is arranged down to the last detail.

They said I had to pay €35 for parking, so I had to get up and go to their joint to pay. They didn't give me anything for food, even though they said they gave me €15 for food. They only said I could take a shower. Overall, I'd give it minus 5 stars if I could!!!

The steak was a thick hunk of meat; it was slightly seared in the pan but still raw on the inside. Sent it back, after which it was fine, but they hadn't added any mushrooms, which were supposed to be part of the dish. We ate with 6 adults and 3 children and received one bowl of fries and potatoes, whereas you get the same thing if you are with 2 people. We asked for another bowl, but after half an hour it still hadn't arrived, so we indicated that we should just forget about it. The children's pancakes were just store-bought ready-made pancakes! It is a real shame that it was so disappointing.

You are barely attended to, and if you signal to the waiter that you would like something, countless other things are done before he arrives. It used to be a wonderful place for trucks to take a break along the road, but since the renovation it's absolutely rubbish. The whole idea of ​​a roadside restaurant is that you can just walk in and grab a quick bite to eat in a cozy atmosphere, but no, here you practically have to make a reservation just to get mediocre food, and the atmosphere is completely gone too. It feels more like a snobs' get-together now than the roadside restaurant it was for over 100 years before they got too stingy and kicked truck drivers aside.

Visited for the first time since the opening and it has turned out beautifully. The food is still high quality and affordable too. The traditional bread ball looks very different now, but the taste is good.

And everything is reasonably affordable.

They just charged me €35 for parking and told me I didn't get any discount; I had to pay for food separately. So, €35 for a parking lot with no restrooms after 10 PM... the food was good, but ridiculously expensive. I absolutely do not recommend it. €35 for a bad, noisy parking lot with no service is a rip-off. I really don't recommend it. I'm giving it one star because I have to, but it doesn't deserve it.

Today, a Dutchman behaved badly in a parking lot... he banged on your car to make you pay for parking... the parking lot is not marked as paid and he asks for 35 euros and then he starts taking out his phone and calling the police because you don't want to pay him... avoid this parking lot

Great experience! The waiter was very friendly and cheerful, the place was very classy and comfy, and the food was so delicious! We really enjoyed it! The pasta was just as good as at the Italian restaurant, we will definitely come back ^^ We had 3 courses for 50 euros p.p.

It's become my go-to spot for a bite to eat. The food is excellent and the service is also superb. The Lichtmis steak is highly recommended, and since the renovation, it's also a beautiful location.

I did pay for parking after 9 PM and have been charged €20 for parking and €15 for food beeing told that I can use the food voucher in the morning. When I went back to restaurant after 7AM ive been told they won't serve breakfast so I took a coffee and water. Presuming that my voucher covers the bill I went back to the truck only to be followed by the guy who asked me to pay €7.25. I went back in, paid the coffee and water but I demanded my €15 I paid for food. He wasn't very happy but he just took my voucher and reimbursed my money. Parking is noisy, no security, and stinky. This guy who was there in the morning is arrogant towards drivers.

The soup was lukewarm, but I got fresh ones. The meat was also lukewarm, and the fries were also lukewarm and limp. I didn't feel like saying anything about it anymore. I think the staff were too short, so the food sat around too long before being served. All in all, a huge disappointment. The only positives were the atmosphere and decor. Unfortunately, I won't be returning.

Parking is a nightmare, but I understand they're working on it. Friendly service. It did take a long time to get our food, over an hour between ordering and being served. The chicken satay was delicious and plentiful, but the spare ribs my son ordered weren't very good and came with only one sauce, and very little at that. Perhaps offering a selection of sauces would be a good idea. The prices are definitely steep, and the menu selection is somewhat disappointing. The dessert menu, in particular, wasn't particularly special. All in all, quite good, but on the expensive side.
