Horrible experience! The boss can't tolerate children! Stay away!

I'm not usually one for reviews, but what an unprofessional and arrogant "boss" at Kodoo! He's not really a boss, just a short-tempered man who only thinks about money! It all started the moment we walked in. We were with a large group, and one of the children, out of enthusiasm, started babbling "Chinese" (he'd been looking forward to this evening for a week to come back to this restaurant). The boss found this unacceptable for a child and spoke to us in a very arrogant tone. After a brief discussion, we paid over €500, because, well, where do you go last-minute with a large group to eat? During this discussion, the boss also said, "If I were really angry, I would have kicked you out." The majority, including myself, didn't hear this, or he would have been able to shove his international cuisine up his ass until it came out of his ears! So, during dinner, the children went to the playground, where they kept coming up to us to say that the "boss" had come at them again with threatening language, accusing them of vandalism and theft and all that other stuff, because, well, the little man was watching the camera... the children felt they were being targeted. After dinner, we went to the "boss" and asked him about the accusations. He arrogantly interrupted us repeatedly and wouldn't tolerate any contradiction. My last sentence was when I said that sometimes it's better to keep his mouth shut, and then I got an unintelligible sentence with a defiant smile on his face! We've been customers for years and never had any problems, until now! This was the last time. After our visit, I also read the reviews, and whenever there's a bad review, it always says there are children involved... well, sir, put an "adults only" sign on the door, then you won't have that problem!

Open until 10pm, but from 8pm onwards they no longer refill certain dishes and clear away and close the wok at 9pm.

This is what international cuisine should be like. The setting is very inviting, the sushi selection was very luxurious, and that's how you know you're going to eat well. Plenty of variety, lots of high-quality meat and fish, and a very chic setting. Also nice: here you get bottled soda, not a tap with water always added. They're not pathetic about giving you the real thing. They had a wide variety of drinks, and the desserts were very extensive. Tables were cleared quickly, unlike other chaotic places. This was on a weekday, but it's one we'll happily return to. Top-notch international cuisine.

A very well-maintained all-you-can-eat menu, including wok, teppan yaki, sushi, European dishes, fries and snacks, and Indonesian Chinese food. Perfect for large groups with children, as there's a play area. Excellent hygiene throughout and refills are provided on time.

Great atmosphere, but the food tastes the same, from fish to meat and side dishes. Drinks are simply taken away right in front of you while it's still full. Then, when you get your food and return to your table, everything has been cleared away—drinks, cutlery, everything—as if you're being chased out the door. A shame.

A few years ago, when we first came here, Kodoo was a good restaurant with delicious food (and yes, it's a restaurant where you serve yourself and then have it stir-fried or grilled). But the last three times, which were last month, December and September, the food, or rather the sauce you can choose for stir-frying, has been extremely salty...really extremely salty...which, for us, significantly lowers the quality compared to what it used to be (well-seasoned, tasty, not too salty, spicy, etc.). We come here because it's a simple place where we can go as a family, and I don't book it all the time, but otherwise...I'd happily choose something else.

A really nice place. Nicely designed. The food is delicious. Plenty of choices. The staff is also very friendly. One point of criticism: the tables are a bit close together, which reflects the large crowds that try to come in each day. We will definitely go back.

WOW!! A world-class restaurant that exceeds all expectations. The owner, chefs, and staff are all very friendly. We've been to many world-class restaurants, and this one is our number one!! Everything is freshly made, which you can tell by the very small quantities in the warming trays. Everything is fresh, hot, and constantly replenished. The quality of the food is also fantastic. Everything is tender, fresh, and very flavorful. We will definitely be back.

Delicious food, lots of variety and top quality. Something for everyone. Even oysters 😍 For our daughter, it was a real treat because of the play area. It was great, as it allowed us to have a quiet meal. Everything was very clean, and everything was kept neat and tidy. Plenty of selection of hot and cold drinks, even a latte macchiato! We had a table close to the play area, which was perfect! However, we found it very dark, which is the only point of concern.

Fantastic restaurant. We go here once a year when we have checkups at the MUMC. They're incredibly accommodating to our youngest daughter, who has a rare metabolic disorder. Super friendly staff, delicious food, and they're very thoughtful. Compliments ♡

⭐☆☆☆☆ A very disappointing experience at Kodo Sittard – an evening that will not be forgotten, but for all the wrong reasons Last weekend, I had something special planned: for the first time in five years, I finally got to see my seven-year-old daughter. We had planned a father-daughter evening, something that is priceless to us. I deliberately chose Kodo Sittard because I thought it would be a nice place to eat together in peace, especially since my daughter eats more slowly and I regularly have to get up to get food. So, I wanted a table where I could have an overview and easily maintain communication with her. What happened next was downright disappointing and humanly cold. We were tucked away in a corner where I had no view of my daughter at all. When I politely explained this and asked if we could sit somewhere else – and explained why this was important – they seemed to be willing to consider it. Until I was moved to a different "corner," which actually offered an even worse overview. When I pointed out that this wasn't working either and asked if they really didn't have a table where we could sit together normally (even though the restaurant was half empty), I was told, "We don't give two people a table for five." As if a little empathy doesn't fit into the concept of hospitality. It was dismissed over the walkie-talkie as if I were a difficult problem, while all I was asking for was a little humanity on an important evening. I preferred to go back to our original table. At that moment, the manager suddenly appeared and intercepted us. He asked again what was going on, and I calmly explained again. Then, suddenly, it was allowed: we got the table that had previously been supposedly impossible. Fine, I thought. Better late than never. But what happened next struck me as completely unprofessional. The manager returned shortly after my daughter had just been seated to lecture me in a harsh, aggressive tone about the fact that I had previously indicated I might write a bad review. He had this conversation openly, right in front of my seven-year-old daughter. A child who was just experiencing her first evening with her father in five years. I calmly told him this wasn't the time for such a conversation, especially not in her presence. But he persisted—with an attitude completely unbecoming of someone managing a restaurant. I eventually broke off the conversation. Later, while my daughter was playing for a moment, I went to him to explain the impact this experience had on us. That it had affected us emotionally. His reaction? One word: "Okay." No apology, no acknowledgement, nothing. This evening should have been a wonderful memory for us, but due to the manager's lack of empathy, poor communication, and downright unprofessional behavior, it became a painful one. Not because of the food. Not because of the concept. But purely because of how we were treated as human beings. This restaurant apparently doesn't understand hospitality. Kodoo Sittard has shown that rules and structures are more important than people. And especially: more important than a child seeing her father again after years. Very disappointing. Not recommended. And never again.

Afgelopen weekend had ik iets bijzonders gepland: voor het eerst in vijf jaar mocht ik mijn dochter van zeven eindelijk weer zien. We hadden een vader-dochter avondje gepland, iets wat voor ons van onschatbare waarde is. Ik koos bewust voor Kodo Sittard omdat ik dacht dat het een fijne plek zou zijn om samen rustig te eten, zeker omdat mijn dochter wat langzamer eet en ik geregeld moet opstaan om eten te halen. Ik wilde dus graag een tafel waar ik overzicht had en makkelijk met haar kon blijven communiceren. Wat er toen gebeurde was ronduit teleurstellend en menselijk kil. We werden weggestopt in een hoek waar ik totaal geen zicht had op mijn dochter. Toen ik dit beleefd uitlegde en vroeg of we misschien ergens anders konden zitten – en duidelijk maakte waarom dit belangrijk was – leek men mee te denken. Tot ik werd verplaatst naar een andere "hoek", die eigenlijk nog slechter was qua overzicht. Toen ik aangaf dat ook dit niet werkte en vroeg of men echt geen tafel had waarbij we op een normale manier samen konden zitten (terwijl de zaak voor de helft leeg was), kreeg ik te horen: "We geven geen tafel van vijf aan twee personen." Alsof een beetje empathie niet past binnen het concept van gastvrijheid. Het werd via de walkie-talkie afgedaan alsof ik een lastig probleem was. Terwijl ik alleen vroeg om een beetje menselijkheid op een belangrijke avond. Ik wilde dan liever terug naar onze oorspronkelijke tafel. Op dat moment kwam de bedrijfsleider er ineens bij, die ons onderschepte. Hij vroeg nogmaals wat er aan de hand was, ik legde het nogmaals rustig uit. Toen mocht het ineens wél: we kregen de tafel die eerder zogenaamd onmogelijk was. Prima, dacht ik. Beter laat dan nooit. Maar wat daarna gebeurde vond ik volstrekt onprofessioneel. De bedrijfsleider kwam vlak nadat mijn dochter net zat ineens terug om mij op een harde, agressieve toon de les te lezen over het feit dat ik eerder had aangegeven dat ik mogelijk een slechte review zou schrijven. Dat gesprek voerde hij openlijk, pal voor mijn dochter van zeven. Een kind dat net haar eerste avond met haar vader in vijf jaar meemaakt. Ik gaf hem rustig aan dat dit niet het moment was om zo'n gesprek te voeren, zeker niet in haar bijzijn. Maar hij bleef doorgaan – met een houding die totaal niet past bij iemand die leidinggeeft aan een horecazaak. Het gesprek heb ik uiteindelijk afgebroken. Later, toen mijn dochter even aan het spelen was, ben ik nog naar hem toe gegaan om aan te geven wat deze ervaring met ons gedaan had. Dat het ons emotioneel geraakt heeft. Zijn reactie? Één woord: "Oke." Geen excuses, geen erkenning, niets. Deze avond had voor ons een mooie herinnering moeten zijn, maar is door gebrek aan empathie, slechte communicatie en ronduit onprofessioneel gedrag van de bedrijfsleider een pijnlijke herinnering geworden. Niet om het eten. Niet om het concept. Maar puur door hoe wij als mensen zijn behandeld. Dit restaurant snapt blijkbaar niets van gastvrijheid. Kodo Sittard heeft laten zien dat regels en structuren belangrijker zijn dan mensen. En vooral: belangrijker dan een kind dat haar vader na jaren weer mag zien. Zeer teleurstellend. Geen aanrader. En nooit meer.

Very friendly manager, nice and spacious seating area, plenty of food selection and delicious. It's a neat place where we regularly go for wok meals. The sushi is also very good.

Very disturbing experience at Wereldrestaurant Kodoo – serious violation of privacy by owner What happened at Wereldrestaurant Kodoo is downright shocking and absolutely unacceptable. During our visit, an incident occurred between two children in the play area. Unfortunately, something like this can happen, but the owner's reaction was truly astonishing. Instead of dealing with the situation professionally and discreetly, the owner decided to show the security footage of the incident several times to other guests present. Yes, you read that right: the owner showed the footage – in which children were clearly recognizable – several times to third parties who had nothing to do with the incident. The child involved saw this happen and was visibly saddened and hurt by it. And rightly so. This is not only completely inappropriate from a human perspective, it is also a serious violation of privacy. Security footage is not entertainment for other guests, and may not be shared by law. What happened here was a gross violation of boundaries – both morally and legally. When I confronted the owner about this and pointed out that this is prohibited by law, he clearly did not know how to behave. Instead of admitting his mistake, apologizing or looking for a solution, he became rude. He kept walking away, refusing to engage in conversation He knew he was wrong, but chose to avoid his responsibility. Very bad behavior for someone who runs a public catering establishment and is supposed to provide a safe and respectful environment - especially when children are involved. The fact that an entrepreneur finds it necessary to show such sensitive images raises major questions about the sense of responsibility and integrity of this restaurant. Parents, be warned: if something happens to your child in this restaurant, there is apparently a good chance that you and others will be allowed to 'enjoy' it publicly. It is clear to us: we will never set foot here again. And we hope that others will take this seriously as well. A restaurant that treats children's privacy so carelessly and disrespectfully should have no place in the hospitality industry.

This restaurant has good reviews but I don't get it. I just really didn't like the atmosphere and the food. It feels like you're in a basement. The food is bad. The cheapest of the cheapest. For example the fruit, almost all canned. Long story short it's not worth your money! Alcohol also costs extra money outside of that. And fish is not separated so people go with the fish spoon in all the other food.

Very good quality for an all you can eat buffet concept. Food is of good quality and not cold which is often the case with these types of concepts. Recommended for everyone. Also very suitable for children. I have been here myself with my 1.5 year old son. Lots of options for him and they also have a play area in the back.

Disappointing experience We came with a group for a children's party, but were immediately greeted unfriendly. Nothing was allowed to be put on the table because "the time would start then" - something that was communicated in an unfriendly way. In addition, a large amount had to be paid immediately, but large notes were not accepted, which was particularly inconvenient. The atmosphere in the restaurant was cold and unsociable. There was little laughter or empathy from the staff. Some dishes, such as the scampi with the wok and the pancakes, were even still raw. Also, not everything was replenished on time at the buffet. All in all a disappointing experience. We will not come back here and would not recommend it to others.

Difficult to do better! We are Belgian and passing through the hotel next door and for ease we went there and frankly wow!!!!! 43€ with the soft drinks we said it wasn't cheap but the quality of the meat, the small unlimited drinks, the coffee, the service,... incredible!!!! The only downside is that it’s a little too subdued so we don’t always get the right thing from what we eat. We will come back to stay at the hotel just to come back and eat there!!! Had dinner with many colleagues. Despite our large group, we were helped quickly and were given neat tables. Plates and cutlery were cleared with a smile and the service was otherwise good. We were there on a Wednesday and it was not busy.

Wonderful experience at this wok restaurant! What a nice discovery! This wok restaurant offers a wide choice of fresh ingredients and sauces, so you can tailor your meal entirely to your own taste. Everything was super fresh and prepared on the spot on the griddle — you can really taste the difference. The atmosphere in the restaurant is cozy and relaxed. Despite being quite busy, the staff remained friendly and attentive. The plates were cleared quickly and drinks arrived quickly. The price-quality ratio is also excellent. For an all-you-can-eat concept, you really get value for money here, without sacrificing quality. In short: highly recommended for those who love tasty, fresh food and want to decide for themselves what is on their plate. I'll definitely be back!

Went here for dinner yesterday. Food was tasty, plenty of choice. Atmosphere was also cozy and pleasant. Only you can't call it a world restaurant because they don't have many different kitchens, which is a shame since they call themselves that and are also the most expensive in the area. Conclusion, if you call yourself a world restaurant and also the most expensive you can expect something. You can only eat Asian food. My expectation was not met which I find a shame. What is also not indicated on the site is parking. You have to park the car in the Fortuna Stadium which will cost you € 2.50 extra.

The service is good with the waiter.. but the person who stands at the till is not nice at all.. he made a bad remark to my child... he is not supposed to talk to him that way... he is not supposed to talk to him in the first place at all and he should talk to me, his mother he should speaks with the adults not with kids. especially my son is a special kid (diffrent) this person was not polite at all..

The food was great but the man at the door was very disrespectful to my son and yelled at him, instead of speaking to us, his parents.

What a fantastic restaurant! In addition to the usual wok / tepanyaki sushi and grill, there are so many choices that you can't possibly try everything. Every wok has a bit of the same thing, but here it is much better executed. - You can get (soft) drinks from the refrigerators yourself. - Coffee, tea and chocolate milk too. - Fresh waffles, pancakes and crepes are baked - A huge ice cream buffet with sauces, toppings and a chocolate fountain. - In addition, the normal desserts that you expect at a wok. - Delicious sushi, sashimi and oysters. - Meat from the tepanyaki is PERFECTLY baked and are large pieces (max 3 per person but that won't last long) - An indoor playground for children inside the restaurant. 1 disadvantage: Parking in the garage under the Fortuna stadium costs 2.50 (pay in the restaurant) and you have to walk through a dirty hallway where it smells of urine to the restaurant. Next time I would park across the street and walk a little bit. For 2 adults, an 8 year old and parking we paid 107.50. We did eat DELICIOUSLY and went home full.

Excellent restaurant, the food is of good quality and there is more than enough choice, the service is good and friendly. The atmosphere is a bit less, we were placed in a corner where it was very dark and very isolated from the bigger picture. It can also be very busy at live cooking, and it is therefore not clear who can order where and when. There is a large playground for the children, although it differs quite a bit from the pictures and description of the website. The trampoline, among other things, is conspicuous in its absence, much to the disappointment of our children.

Always a fun, tasty and enjoyable evening. The food here is always great and tastes good. The staff are friendly, helpful and hard working. With the wide range of different world cuisines, I would definitely recommend this.

A very large buffet, where you can put together a complete dinner. The diversity of dishes was enormous. I think everyone can find something tasty there. But due to the grandeur of the space, I thought it didn't look very atmospheric. An effort has been made to create separate spaces, but it remains impersonal.

Have eaten at Kodoo several times. When you enter you will always receive a very friendly welcome. You will then be guided to the table. Drinks (except alc) are included. There is a huge choice of food and everything actually tastes quite good. It is quite large, so the atmosphere is not optimal, but certainly not bad. It is very nice for a birthday with a few people and if it is your birthday you get a dessert with fireworks. Still fun!

Top restaurant and excellent food

After hearing many good stories from friends, I decided to take a look here. I don't understand why everyone is so positive about this. A large all-in food bar with reasonable food, nice friendly service and a price that is on the high side for such locations. Don't know if I'll come back here again anytime soon. Personally, I think the one in Kerkrade is better at the weekend.

We deliberately ate here on an unpopular day, but we didn't know that there would apparently be no friendliness there. Upon arrival, it is too much for the employee behind the counter to explain how it works. We had never been here before, so a little explanation of prices/options would have been nice. The buffet was also barely replenished. All empty bins. And what was there had been there for a while and was therefore not tasty.

Very tasty food, the choice was wide and sufficiently replenished. Will definitely come back.

A real Vreetschuur, No atmosphere at all No Go.

The best all-you-can-eat restaurant in the area. Bizarrely good quality and very good chefs. One of the chefs (read: magician) was making lamb chops all evening. I have never had such delicious lamb chops in 46 years and neither has my wife. The rest of the meat also very tender and fresh. Amazingly good! I will definitely go back to Sittard!!! It's nice that there is a play area for the children. Food is fine, better than in other all you can eat restaurants. What is really a shame is that you have to pay for a child who has celiac disease and cannot eat anything there. You are allowed to bring your own food, but you also have to pay the same amount as other children. Not even gluten-free fries because they fry in the same fat.

What an antisocial, unfriendly, disrespectful owner!!!! That simply excludes an 11 year old child!!!!!! We made a reservation today to eat here with our 2 daughters aged 11 & 7. The gentleman asked if I could show my eldest daughter's ID card. Actually, I'm not even obliged to do this since she doesn't have an ID requirement yet... but I still made the effort to see if I had it with me. This was not the case. My husband and I both looked in our emails to see if we could find a copy... but we did not find this after a while of searching. The owner left us to search for a few minutes instead of just helping us further. My husband indicated that he really didn't think it was nice. The owner thought this was strange. And indicated that he had often been deceived with false cards about gastric reduction. I indicated that I really don't care about those few euros, but about the way in which it is done and that there is nothing we can do about it. Finally, while I was still looking through my email and our daughters were watching, he said that it was okay this time, but next time she had to have an ID with her. I really have no words for this!! We go out to eat every day, this has never happened to me at any restaurant!!!

I was disappointed in my experience at Kodoo restaurant. Although the sushi was of very good quality, the rest of the offering was rather mediocre, and some dishes were even a bit substandard. The flavors did not always come through well and some dishes lacked freshness and refinement. Even the stir-fry dish was disappointing; the curry sauce, which was supposed to be very spicy with a three-pepper rating, was barely seasoned and lacked the expected pungency. I didn't find the value for money balanced; the prices are high for a quality that does not meet expectations, especially outside the sushi dishes. For sushi lovers it can be a good choice, but for everyone else it might be better to consider other options

Hoewel de sushi van zeer goede kwaliteit was, was de rest van het aanbod nogal middelmatig, en sommige gerechten waren zelfs wat ondermaats. De smaken kwamen niet altijd goed tot hun recht en sommige gerechten misten versheid en verfijning. Zelfs het wokgerecht viel tegen; de currysaus, die zogenaamd erg pittig zou zijn met een drie-peper notering, was nauwelijks gekruid en miste de verwachte scherpte. Ik vond de prijs-kwaliteitverhouding niet in balans; de prijzen zijn hoog voor een kwaliteit die niet aan de verwachtingen voldoet, vooral buiten de sushi-gerechten. Voor sushi-liefhebbers kan het een goede keuze zijn, maar voor de rest is het misschien beter om andere opties te overwegen

Delicious starters...very good service

Stir-frying at kodoo is really good. Everything is fresh and plenty of choices and affordable. That's what I'll continue to do.

Very tasty food, lots of choice, lots of variety, friendly staff, highly recommended if you are in Sittard.
