If you like surprises, it’s pretty nice as the set 3 or 4 course menus change every now and then with seasonal ingredients. Lovely place and I was pleasantly delighted with the dishes!

Had a wonderful experience here. The food was excellent, and the warm, low-light atmosphere made the whole place feel incredibly inviting. You can choose between a 3-, 4-, or 5-course menu, and they even offer a wine pairing option. The wine list itself is also surprisingly impressive, with a really well-curated selection. But what truly stood out was the service. They have a waiter named Luc who is honestly a gem. He’s genuinely kind, explains every dish with clarity and passion, and you can really feel how much he loves what he does. He’s the one who turned a great dinner into a truly memorable evening. Highly recommend.

Friendly staff, nice atmosphere and delicious food!

Great restaurant, simply great. Pleasant atmosphere, attentive service, good food, no time slots. It makes you feel like you're truly on a night out. And gluten-free food is no problem at all; even if you have celiac disease (like me), you can safely go here!

I've eaten here twice and it's been amazing both times. The food and service were both top notch. It's a great spot for a special meal. Can't recommend enough.

Bonus points: the food is brilliant, and the multi-course menu is the one you'll want to go for. It's all wild, which means it could have a bullet in it, it's so fresh! Each meal is quite unique because they have to work at the right time. They're also dog-friendly, so if you request it in your review, you can bring your dog. A negative point is that the acoustics are still very loud, making it difficult to hear each other clearly.

We had a delicious meal here, it was very cozy. It's like a cafe in a good way. Not a very extensive menu, but everything is good. And the atmosphere is great.

Whenever we have something to celebrate, we've been going to De Wilde Zwijnen for 15 years. We always choose the successful concept: (meat, fish, or vegetarian. Number of courses: 2, 3, 4, or 5) "Chef's Surprise." And for all those years, the chef has conjured up delicious and unique culinary delights on our plates. The ingredients are simple and seasonal, but the combinations of ingredients and the original textures make the food adventurous. It's also a cozy restaurant with ample space between tables for privacy. The service is knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive. In short, dining at De Wilde Zwijnen remains highly recommended!

Have visited twice now on separate trips. Food and service are absolutely excellent. During our recent visit, a member of staff going off shift visited every table to say goodbye: a small example of the exceptional attitude and friendliness of the staff.

We eat here often, often with various friends. They never disappoint: perfect service, low-key with attention to detail, an affordable, good menu, and delicious bread and butter to start. Desserts are also truly fantastic. Don't forget to ask for wine recommendations; we're always offered the best glasses. Besides, of course, the house aperitif!

We enjoyed a wonderful meal on the outdoor patio on a warm Amsterdam evening. The food was great as was the service. We had the four-course chef's menu, which was a perfect amount of food. All of the dishes were great: sea bass crudo, ravioli with a butter sauce, venison with bitterballen, and a really nice cheese plate for dessert. It's a great restaurant that is off the tourist path but well worth the trip for a welcoming neighborhood experience.

Lovely restaurant in Amsterdam at the end of the 14 tram line! Fantastic quality food served in a very relaxed atmosphere. You select 3, 4 or 5 courses (4 is ideal) and it's a set menu (everyone has the same food). It's really good to have dishes you wouldn't necessarily pick from a menu. The standard of the food is really good, and for the price is incredibly. Definitely worth the small journey out of the city centre.

Really great food, friendly service with thoughtful wine pairing recommendations, and – an oft overlooked thing – good acoustic treatment! Nice chatty atmosphere where you can actually hear each other very clearly. All 3 of us went for 4 courses, with 2 of us opting for the vegetarian menu, which was extremely delicious. Was about €260 all in with a couple wines each, 4 oysters, olives... A lot of money, sure, but I think fair pricing for an excellent restaurant. Will be back next time we're in Amsterdam, thanks for making my mum's birthday special.

The dishes are good, but nothing groundbreaking. Portions are generous (especially the main course). Service was good. Glasses are generously filled. Price is good. Nothing special, but fine :)

Excellent food in a lovely setting. Service was a bit slow but it appeared they were short staffed this particular evening. However, this meant that nobody was in a rush and we had a lovely leisurely meal. Overall very friendly and will certainly return and recommend!

It was a bit quieter due to the holidays, but the four-course meal with meat, fish, and/or vegetarian was fantastic again. The waiter was knowledgeable about both the ingredients and the wines. What a disappointment! The worst thing I find is the bad service. The whole evening hardly anyone came by for drinks. The worst was that we had to wait 1.5 hours for our dessert. Even asked 3 times, "coming", but it didn't come. Bizarre. Food also average, especially the starter very tasteless. We will never come back here.

We had the 5-course Chef's Menu and can highly recommend it. A delicious wine pairing was perfect.

Some time ago they had still a la carte now only standard fixed menu very expensive. Wine also heavily overpriced. We were served rude, glasses were dirty, fatty and with remains inside. We asked them to be changed. Waiters feedback was ‘that they were not dirty’ that this was all normal. The tone of the feedback was for us to decide to leave before we really started. We did not ask back the reservation fee (30€) to avoid long waiting or discussions. We preferred to keep our good mood ok. This restaurant used to be a nice place to go in Oost but it clearly changed in a ‘milk cow’ for its owner. Pity.

I keep coming back here. I love the freshness of the food, the choices of wine and the great staff.

Oh, what a wonderful dining experience! Such a romantic setting, beautiful interior. We started with oysters, delicious oysters and took the 5-course menu with wine pairing. Really delicious food and the pairing was spot on! The service is super friendly, professional and has a lot of knowledge about everything. In short, a wonderful culinary experience where all our senses craved for more.

Just had a good cheese board with delicious wine. Nice service. Unintentionally screwed because initially 2 bottles of wine were on account (instead of 2 x 2 glasses). After many apologies, I received cash back. However, when I got home I saw that it was for one bottle. Lesson learned again. Very tasty, but very long! 2.5 hours from order to dessert. Tired of waiting.

My partner and I visited Wilde Zwijnen on March 28th and spent around 200 euros (+10% tip) for dinner for two. While the overall atmosphere and service — though a bit slow — were pleasant, I must say the food didn’t quite meet our expectations given the price. Of course, taste is subjective, and while some may enjoy the menu, for us it simply didn’t feel worth the expense. What really made the experience disappointing, however, was the issue with the 20-euro deposit required to secure the reservation. Unfortunately, this amount wasn’t deducted from the final bill, and despite several emails and even visiting the restaurant in person, it took until May 6th to get the refund processed. This kind of prolonged delay in handling a basic refund turned what could have been a decent evening into a frustrating and disappointing experience I wouldn’t expect from a restaurant of this reputation.

Dit is mijn favoriete restaurant in mijn buurt en misschien wel in Amsterdam en omstreken. Ik beoordeel het niet elke keer want kom er regelmatig, maar vooruit. Afgelopen week was ik er twee keer en allebei de keren waren mijn tafelgenoten en ik weer heel blij met het gebodene, de sfeer en de bediening. Vooraf tartaar van wit vis, ik meen zeebaars, tussen ravioli met kaassaus en lamsbout met diverse groenten als hoofdgerecht.Daarbij een kleine aanmerking: in de jus bij de lamsbout was de soya (ketjap?) nogal 'aanwezig'. Dat smaakte niet erg bij het verder Franse bereide gerecht en de begeleidende rode Languedoc. Toe aardbeienijs met een creme van witte chocolade. Over het geheel genomen heerlijk gegeten en de prijs voor zoveel verrassends blijft altijd symapthiek.

Almost a bit embarrassing how expensive it was and how mediocre the dinner was. The vegetarian 4 course menu was instead of fish/meat: 1x green asparagus, and 1x white asparagus. As if they had forgotten the vegetarian menu. The cheese board, for 17 euros(!), had three small pieces, which were not necessarily very special. Have never seen such a small cheese board for so much money. For comparison, at Rijks you can get 5 pieces of Kef for €20. In addition, I saw on the receipt that a more expensive bottle of wine had been purchased than was given. Had a photo of the bottle received, and instead of them saying 'mistake, we are correcting the receipt' I got the answer, the supplier has delivered the wrong bottle, I can give a 5 euro discount. (Difference of the error was €10). With difficulty they later realized that they themselves had made the mistake. Very bland. If, as a restaurant, you pretend that you belong in the higher segment with your prices, then you can be judged accordingly. For €110pp you can easily sit at a good restaurant, but not here. What a mockery.

Had dinner with a friend here last night - lovely food, incredible service, super enjoyable meal!! We had the homemade bread to start, which was wonderful, and then each had the 3 course chef’s menu with meat and fish. Every dish was lovely, but the dessert was a real standout. Would definitely return next time I’m in town!

Had a fantastic evening at WILDE ZWIJNEN. Even though we were the last booking of the night, they were still able to accomodate the five-course menu for us and it was delicious. When they saw my partner didn't like one of the dishes, they made her a different one at no extra charge. The host was very kind and friendly and made an excellent wine recommendation. An expensive night out, but worth it for a special occasion, a wonderful experience all round.

We were looking for a restaurant that serves locally sourced modern Dutch food, and found this place. There’s no menu online so we were intrigued. The staff were absolutely lovely and so welcoming even after we discovered that I had messed the booking time up, and we were late. We were not sure what to expect but we ordered the chef’s tasting menu with matching wines and wow, I’m so pleased we did. You also have a choice as to whether you prefer not to have meat, and you can choose fish or vegetarian options instead. To start, we were given delicious breads with whipped brown butter - totally unexpected but wonderful, then we had a white fish with buttermilk and herb sauce, a ravioli with nut crumbs and a delicious cheese sauce, then perfectly cooked venison with a potato cake and spring vegetables. The wines were from around Europe and matched beautifully with the fabulous food. Unfortunately we were short on time so we didn’t get to try dessert or cheeses but since we will definitely come back here, we’re looking forward to being completely surprised next time. If you’re after something completely different, give this place a go. Also, we’d never have gone to the neighbourhood where this place is, so that was a bonus, because it’s beautiful and we’re looking forward to exploring that in future too.

Locale grande ma molto curato e pulito. Servizio gentile. Piatti ricercati e in gran parte riusciti (io personalmente non ho amato molto la carrot cake salata, ma sono gusti). Carta dei vini interessante. Varie possibilità di menu 4/5/6 portate eventualmente anche vegetariane! Al livello di alcuni stellati già provati! Forza ragazzi, uno sforzo ancora e si va alla stellina!

A spectacular experience from start to finish. The service was wildly friendly, the drinks and wine pairing were superb, and the food was delectable. Had we had more time, we would have tried the 5 course menu, as it was truly that delicious. Cannot wait to come back and cannot recommend this gem of a restaurant enough.

Had great time there. Nice vibe, nice service. Food was disappointing. Beetroot risotto very bland and boring. Veel was nicely cooked but salty. Good and fresh ingredients that lose their way on the execution. Nice texture combinations but taste is nowhere to be found.

After a lot of research on Dutch cuisine restaurants we found this place. We had a great meal with wonderful service. The waiter also recommended two other venues where Dutch food is celebrated.

Staff were attentive, knowledgable and very friendly… we had a fantastic evening and hope to return for more culinary magic next time we’re in Amsterdam! Loved it!

Substandard. Half of the dishes are not of the level you would expect from such a place. In addition, messy service. Didn't get a hallway. Manager owner opens another bottle of wine on his own initiative because the one we ordered was not there. Nice initiative, but then you have to check with your guests: just check whether we would like a chilled red wine at all.. In addition, two expats who talked about the food with little passion. In short, high expectations but still somewhat disappointed. Think of much nicer tents in the Javabuurt!

Ate on Valentine's Day. Service is clearly understaffed - and not at the level you would expect in this price range. This makes for a substandard experience for what you pay: 85 euros per person for the six-course menu (the only option tonight) and 9 euros per glass of wine. Long wait for first course and for multiple courses, cutlery was given after serving the dish and matching wine ditto. Get between course after the main course. Another wine is poured into the same glass as the previous one. The food itself - we had the fish menu - was very tasty and therefore even more of a shame that the rest was not up to standard. With a little self-control from the manager (read: limiting the number of place settings) the experience could have been very different.

Very cozy tent, nice and knowledgeable service, but the kitchen is sleeping. We had 4 courses vegetarian. The BBQ leek with the starter was from the green part and not washed properly. The entree with pearl barley had a spicy sauce. The main course was a much too soft piece of celeriac with lots of raw vegetables and again a lame sauce. You have to grill and bake celeriac, then it is delicious. Hopefully the kitchen will soon find its inspiration again...

Went for dinner last week. We were tipped off about the restaurant and, in combination with the high rating, we set out enthusiastically. Once we arrived, the welcome and the first introduction to the waiters were chaotic and not very friendly. This unfortunately continued throughout the evening, partly due to the understaffing of staff. The quality of the food was also a lot less than expected, especially for this price. Dishes were mixed up and then when we asked if it was correct, it was taken away with a sigh and without any further response. Unfortunately, we do not have a good experience for what you can expect at this type of restaurant. I certainly wouldn't recommend it...

Have a bite to eat with a former colleague. Upon arrival you will be told: Valentine's Day, so today only the six-course menu. 6 dishes in 4 hours. Very unpleasant mouthfeel. Emperor's clothes. Fluff here. Foam there. The beetroot was apparently on sale. Cubes of beetroot. Strips of beetroot. Strings of beetroot. Beetroot rolls. The cooking, the cooking, left much to be desired. Cold semi-raw cod is simply not tasty. And a speech from the staff at every course. In a noisy restaurant with bad acoustics. All dishes were lukewarm. Bottom line: - 120 euros per person - Not one bite of food that was at a decent temperature. - As many as six speaking engagements.

The food is always excellent, but the reins could really be tightened a bit when it comes to service. When I'm eating and drinking with a group of friends for €600, I just don't feel like hearing from the young man who served our table that 'we won't get any more bread because otherwise we'll have to bake it especially for you'. I also don't need to know that well before closing time 'it is really time to order coffee because the coffee machine needs to be cleaned'. 🤬

Funny concept, minimum consumption of €49. They only serve menus of at least 3 dishes, you are not allowed to order one dish, you are not allowed to share the menu... so not for people with a small appetite.

Discovered by chance during a city trip. Good food, modern French cuisine. We took the 5 course and it was more than enough. Dessert could have been a little more pronounced in taste. Fine wine list with tasty organic wines. For me, the maître could have been a little less present.

Very nice meal for our first night in Amsterdam, good food, good drink, decent wine. We walked in after a sudden downpour and arrived sopping wet knee down and restaurant didn't blink an eye, just got us settled at a table. We had an excellent meal and attentive but slow (even by European relaxed standards) service. I would totally go here again, don't get me wrong, we just got better at ordering things all at once for refills and such instead piecemeal. I can't recall any of the specific dishes, but recall a smooth and enjoyable evening. The front of the house is cozy but expands nicely into the back room. Dress was normal Amsterdam nice casual, the noise was moderate.

Favourite restaurant in Amsterdam, modern Dutch cuisine with a twist, moving more to French overtime. The set menu is great value, coming there already for 12 years always good! The team here is welcoming and friendly! I’ll keep coming back & back.

Wat een fijne sfeer hangt hier. Het restaurant heeft een simpele inrichting , maar dat doet niets af aan de bruisende energie. Je kan kiezen uit 3 menu’s van de chef; vis-vlees-vegetarisch of alleen vis of alleen vegetarisch. Uiteraard geef je zelf aan hoeveel gangen je wilt. De gerechten zijn echt out of the box en hebben verrukkelijke smaken en creatieve combinaties….wat een verademing. Er wordt veel met groenten gewerkt, ook zo fijn. Hier wordt gepassioneerd gekookt. Dat proef je! De bediening is heel prettig en uiterst vriendelijk.

As a local resident, I have visited many times and had a great meal and was certainly positively surprised by the large portions (4 courses)! This was the seventh time we ate here since 2010. This time we were very disappointed. The service was friendly but chaotic. The wine and water were forgotten three times, so we walked to the bar ourselves. The food was lukewarm. Too bad because the ingredients were beautiful. There was also less soul in the food. It was a Saturday and it seemed like a continuous buffet. The dessert fell apart on our plate due to the waiter's carelessness. Shame.

We ordered the 5-course tasting menu, and the entire dining experience lasted 4 hours. It took an unacceptable 30 minutes for each dish to arrive. The main dish was not only tasteless but also overly salty. Additionally, the restaurant’s atmosphere was marred by significant acoustic issues. The wine selection consisted solely of bio or natural wines, which are not popular choices for most diners. The staff was not friendly, if you have any questions.

Had a reasonable meal in an almost empty restaurant. The service was occasionally overly present when presenting wine. A small menu with 5 dishes from which you could put together a 3, 4 or 5 course menu. Mackerel starters, wild duck as main course. In this game season I expect some other game such as boar, deer or hare.

Both the chef's menu and fish menu were superb. Go for the 5 course!! Chef Gabriel created a refined and original cuisine and we can't wait to return with our friends. Delicious food, staff could listen a little better and be really interested instead of asking the obligatory questions and not listening to the answers. If you ask which dish was the tastiest, also ask why the other dishes were apparently less tasty. Tip: don't mention what is no longer available in terms of drinks, but give suggestions about what is available!
