Zonnig Zuid in Wijk 04 Egmond aan Zee

We visited Zonnig Zuid for the first time last week. Both the food and the service from the young woman, who spoke excellent German, were outstanding. We will definitely return on our next visit to Egmond aan Zee. Thank you!

The food here is absolutely delicious. Unfortunately, sitting outside isn't ideal because it gets quite drafty when it's windy. But the food, service, and prices are all great.

The restaurant is located on a side street off the main street....you would say they would try a bit harder in terms of price and quality.... Unfortunately, that is disappointing. The food is consistently very good and always tastes fantastic. However, we wouldn't recommend the schnitzel. In addition, the staff is very friendly and attentive, and the value for money is excellent. A clear recommendation from us – we'll definitely be back!

When we're in Egmond, we usually eat there. The menu is varied enough to warrant repeat visits, and the food is delicious. Side dishes could sometimes be a bit more generous. The staff is very friendly; you feel welcome as a guest.

We had a very pleasant time with the six of us, a very tasty meal with a delicious dessert. We were here for the second time and hope to come back again.

The food was quite disappointing. The schnitzel seemed to have come straight from the deep fryer with a spoonful of ready-made hunter's sauce. The cauliflower tasted burnt.

After waiting for over an hour, the meat was only very briefly seared—still completely red—and unseasoned and tough. The vegetables were way too spicy—extremely hot. My partner was lucky; his meal was fine. The waiter tried his best, but seemed to be working alone and was therefore very stressed.

The food is better in some canteens; the schnitzel and vegetables were not convincing, the best thing was the side salad.

Cozy atmosphere, great food, fun and attentive service

We had a delicious meal here on two evenings during our stay on April 15 and 16, and were very satisfied with the food and the cheerful service, which truly makes a party out of their work. If we are ever in Egmond aan Zee again, we will certainly visit this restaurant again.

We had a lovely evening here. The food was exquisite; it was special to see that the chef himself was serving as well. A sunny, southern atmosphere thanks to the background music, not too loud so we could understand each other well. There was a staff shortage here too, so don't be in a rush; they are working hard and, once again, the food here is good. We will definitely go here again! Update: delicious again the second time around; the ribeye is exquisite!

We had reserved a table via email for dinner this evening at 6 pm. We were very kindly shown to a lovely, quiet table, and the waiter was immediately at our service (since there wasn't anyone else in the restaurant yet...😉). We each ordered a 0.5l shandy (0.0% alcoholic), a delicious tomato soup, one of us spare ribs, and one of us pan-fried calf's liver, all served with fries, salad, mayo, and ketchup. While everything was very tasty, the price/performance ratio is debatable (see photos)... We probably won't be returning here!

I stopped in here on a whim and was lucky enough to get a table without a reservation. The service was friendly, attentive, and quick. I chose a goat cheese salad as a side dish and spare ribs with fries, mayo, and vegetables. My companion had the tofu burger with fries and vegetables. For dessert, we shared the chocolate trio. All the dishes were delicious, and the spare ribs were sensational—absolutely delicious! The menu is small, which I like because it makes it easy to decide. They offer fish, meat, and vegetarian dishes. The wine selection is very limited, with only three wines to choose from. The restaurant is located on a side street off the pedestrian zone. Our dog was also welcome.

During our sports weekend, we were back in Zonnig Zuid – we received a warm welcome like old friends, even though we only visit once a year. We're already looking forward to seeing them again in 2027.

Small and exquisite. With three people, we had three different dishes: veal liver, spare ribs, and Thai stew. It was plenty for us, and everything tasted good. If you're really hungry, we recommend an appetizer.

We went there twice, on our first short break with our 3-month-old son. The food (starters: focaccia and shrimp pancakes, main courses: fish of the day (pike fillets) with vegetables and fries, rib-eye steak, salmon fillet, and a Thai braised dish) was absolutely delicious both days, and the atmosphere was incredibly cozy and pleasant. The service was just as outstanding: The chef was incredibly kind and attentive; on both days we were there, he even volunteered to carry our slightly whiny little son around (which he did in addition to serving the other guests) so my wife and I could eat together. All in all, a top-notch restaurant, and if we ever come back to Egmond, it will definitely be our first stop for a restaurant!

A nice, no-nonsense restaurant with a small but good menu. Nice atmosphere and a very friendly, hard-working hostess. One minor complaint: I asked for some pepper sauce with my schnitzel. I had to pay €1 for a thimbleful of pepper sauce. Otherwise, good value for money.

The welcome was good, but the clearing wasn't that quick, and there weren't any requests for drinks – very bad. Then, unfortunately, they had to leave; they weren't interested in us. It's a shame.

We visited the "restaurant" this evening. The food could also be described as a snack bar. The schnitzels were deep-fried with ready-made sauces. The salmon was dry, the ravioli cold inside, and the sauce too salty. For 35 years of experience, no words. Including a shrimp cocktail as a starter, we paid 71.00 Euro. Never again.

We dined at Zonnig Zuid several times during our stay in Egmond. Every dish we ordered met our expectations. The taste and quantity of the meals were always excellent. The chef/senior member of the restaurant also deserves special mention. He's super friendly and welcoming, never intrusive. You can immediately tell that people love their work here. The ambiance and music simply put us in a good mood. When we're back in Egmond, we'll be back. Amigo; keep it up!!!!!!!!

A pleasant evening at the fair in Egmond. We'd just eaten at home, but after visiting the fair, we wanted to have a drink. There was a table on the terrace for the two of us, but we couldn't get one. We had to order food. I said, "We just want a drink." But no, we were sent away. I find this really strange and very unfriendly. The young woman wasn't happy about it either, but apparently, she had to report it from higher up. I give this restaurant/bar a solid 0 out of 10. It's extremely customer-unfriendly. We will definitely never return.

Disappointing experience at Zonnig Zuid We were hoping for a pleasant dinner, but Zonnig Zuid was unfortunately quite disappointing. The atmosphere was fine, but that's about it. Thankfully, the order was taken quickly. But after a quiet evening, I felt I had to wait quite a while for my food. When the food finally arrived – chicken satay – it turned out to be disappointing. The portion was small, the presentation was messy, and the taste was bland. Definitely not what you expect for the high price they charge. In short: way too expensive for what you get.

Service was friendly, but otherwise not recommended. Schnitzel from the fryer. The Thai meat stew was a joke; other than the rice, it didn't have any Asian flavor. Therefore, the prices are unreasonable. There are better restaurants in Egmond.

We sat outside at the end of June and had been waiting for our food for quite some time. We had time, and everything was fine. Since eating out is getting more and more expensive, I was very disappointed with ours. I wouldn't recommend the "schnitzel" to anyone; it's a frozen schnitzel with an inedible coating, apart from the "hunter's sauce." 🙄 The price: 19.50 with some salad and fries is simply outrageous. Upon request, the chef even confirmed that it was a completely normal schnitzel. Since I enjoy cooking myself, I know what that looks like.
