Delicious, great atmosphere, friendly staff !

We have visited the place on Wednesday evening. It was full so I recommend to make a reservation. We have tried different locar beers and gins-everything was very goos. Also we had hot snacks that were tasty, especially the shrimp croquettes.

Amazing experience! The place really brings on the local feeling and the dishes are amazing! We had the traditional “Bitterbalen” and Mussels. For Mussels-fan like me they have real big mussels! It was exquisite! The staff is more than kind and very attentive. They did also adapt the food to my gluten intolerance! I will keep that address for my next trip to Amsterdam! Thanks to the staff 🙏🏻

Cool restaurant! I had the beef stew and it was delicious. However the waiting time was almost 60 min. The staff was friendly but a little bit stressed. All in all we had a good night.

The four of us made reservations more than a week in advance, but had a very small table towards the kitchen and toilets. This resulted in being bumped more than ten times because these tables are all in the aisle. Had garlic bread as a starter, but that was a roll with herbs/garlic butter, a steak that was extremely overcooked and bone dry on the thin edges. only some fries but missing a little vegetable, lukewarm beer and very warm, despite the sign saying that there is air conditioning, but it was broken.

We were looked after SO well. This is the best place to enjoy the wonderful local food and drink! I will visit again, thank you!

Nice and friendly service, perfect food and the starter we shared was already done on 2 plates, very thoughtful. Good advice about the wine and 'snaps' after! Everything perfect. This time we came for the mussels, next time cheese fondue!

We went there with a reservation. There was not really an allocated table for us when we arrived, and we had a table still. We ordered and got drink after little waiting since it was pretty crowded. For food, we waited almost for one hour and half(on weekdays dinner..), and we saw some groups getting food before us when they arrived later than us, which we did not enjoy much. We understand that the place can be very busy, but still to finish the day nicely it was not the best experience to wait for food for such a long time, which is sad because the waiters were still nice. Food was good to experience the local, beef stew with French fries was nice! but the starter’s eggplant was not our thing, and cheese fondue was good to try but very alcoholic-cheese or strong taste, good to give it a try I think :) It was still good experience though!

Second time here and that Dutch Pea Soup & Stew with Fries, yum!

We recently dined at this restaurant and had a truly wonderful experience. The food was delicious, carefully prepared, and made with high-quality ingredients. A special shoutout to our waiter, Lorenzo (the one with the curly hair!), who was absolutely amazing – kind, attentive, and super professional. He really made our evening even more enjoyable. Unfortunately, we forgot to leave a tip and only realized it too late – so we’d like to thank him here for his outstanding service. Highly recommended, and we’ll definitely be coming back!

Went for dinner with friends around December. What a nice place, atmospheric and cozy, hardworking staff. Cheese fondue was delicious. The only thing we thought was so strange was that the pan for 3 was really gone in no time. When we ordered extra, we were looked at, but received the same content, but then we paid for 1 portion. A bit strange, same content. Pans for more people could really be a bit fuller haha

Nice pub. Atmospheric. Local food. A lot of tourists, but also Dutch ones. Nice appetizer. Goulash with fries - wow, I've never eaten anything like this before. Delicious. The fries are crunchy, the naked meat is rich and tasty. I recommend this place 100%, the price is ok, it's not cheap, but we are in Amsterdam, 40e for such 3 items.

We really appreciated the warm atmosphere of the restaurant. The team was even kind enough to speak to us a few words in French. The beers were very good, and the fondue was excellent. The only downside: the steak, ordered rare, arrived at the right time. Fortunately, the waiter rectified the situation, and the second course was cooked perfectly. We'll come back 🇳🇱🇫🇷😉

Nice waiters, good food and drinks

We ate outside on a cool February evening under the heaters in the alcove. It was very pleasant. Our meals were good and the service was good. I think we only gave it 4 stars for the food was because traditional Dutch cuisine is not really a favorite of ours. We were in Amsterdam, so we thought we should give it a try.

We had the best meal in Amsterdam. Really authentic ambience, full of locals. The steak with cheese fondue was delicious. And the staff went the extra mile to accommodate us (even without booking) and super friendly to our kids.

Food was pretty good, beer was watery, service was impolite, irregular, and basically bad. Forgotten water, not asked the size of drinks. Regularly knocked around due to them shoving everyone in and high fiving their friends.

Nice beers and Jenevers, very friendly service, extremely atmospheric and cute old fashioned setting. The food is functional and slightly overpriced, but I think you can forgive that for such a cozy place.

The staff is very professional and friendly (I showed some respect for their work and have been rewarded with a very friendly act of kindness). A nice pub with young, attentive waiters and good local dishes...the cheese fondue is plentiful although we expected it to be a little tastier and the meat stew on a bed of chips was good! Try the genever, their liqueur... it slides down like silk! The only flaw...even though we had booked it gave us the impression that we had been given the first free table and it was a little table passing through...

Always nice to eat and drink at the beautiful Van Wees. It is almost without exception very busy, which is a good sign anyway - it will also be in many guidebooks, judging by all the languages ​​spoken there. The food is simply very good, without frills, and the service is extremely attentive, certainly worth an extra compliment. It must be a paradise for lovers of spirits; I am very satisfied with the wine list. Make sure you reserve well in advance, otherwise you will miss out.

The food is very tasty and the dishes are interesting/unusual. The waiters are friendly and helpful. Overcrowded facility - 12 people sit at a table of 8 and that's why we all squeeze together.

Such a cozy spot with excellent food and ambiance. My husband got the homemade beef stew, I had the pea soup, and we shared the snack platter. Everything we had was fantastic! It was my first experience with traditional Dutch fare and I’m definitely a believer. The beer and genever combo was also a win. Finally, Mango the bar cat was such a treat. He was a very well behaved and handsome young man.

Very nice pub, with a very nice atmosphere. The history of the place is impressive. Good service and good food including locals from Amsterdam. The same goes for beers, breweries and good local beers. Small disappointment for the cheesecake for dessert, I was expecting more homemade advocaat liqueur. It was good though :)

Soft fries, dry, cold cheeseburger. Not very tasty. Not so clean, a bit of a mess upstairs.

Too expensive, looks nice, but four tiny glasses for €16.00 and you are not allowed to choose the flavors yourself Ok, you get cheese and sausage with it, in proportion to the amount of drink After four years of response.,.:) I also went on a tasting at the distillery. First time in my life dining where all the food and sides came before the cutlery and the beer. My table had to keep asking for cutlery and table water, up to the point where we just gave up and got it ourselves. It wasn't busy and clearly the wait staff forgot our requests once they went down the stairs and just stood around. Chef did not give any respect for the cow that died so that we could have steaks for dinner. Ordered a medium rare and it was more raw in places. Tourist trap and will not be going back

We visited for dinner with three people, one of which was our four year old daughter. I was on the fence on whether or not this was the best choice for her or not. We decided to give it a shot and we were so glad that we did. The entire staff was so kind, welcoming and attentive with our daughter. Checking on her constantly, we couldn’t have asked for more. Beyond that the drinks were outstanding. We tried several of the “head butts” and enjoyed them so much we sought out a bottle of genever to bring home. The quality of the food is amazing as well. Overall I would recommend this place to anyone and everyone.

Atmospheric and the service is excellent. Prices seem normal until you have the hamburger in front of you, so shrinkflation. Oh well, that's what the city center is for, you think. Luckily we had fries with it. That portion costs €5.50. You then receive the two ordered portions in a single basket, which is very meager. Never seen so few fries for €11. So a small aftertaste to an otherwise great evening.

-Good atmosphere in the restaurant -Food was tasty, but the amount of cheese fondue was too little -After an hour and 45 minutes, my group and I were asked to either take a seat somewhere else or pay the bill because the tables were needed for another group. Shame on me for not stopping by on one my many bike rides as I was gliding by. Returning from Jumbo at 10pm and seeing many happy blokes enjoying the vibe and night. I chalk it up as a NIYBY vibe. I live one block away and thumbed my big noise at this establishment. Why ?? My little brain doesn’t know. Big thumbs up. Huuuuuge thumbs up! O can see this will be a love- lhate relationship. Busy, noisy, tables close together, but good in terms of atmosphere, service, food and drinks.
