Super delicious, traditional food! The mussels and fried chicken were fresh and excellent! The service was very friendly and attentive! The atmosphere is cozy and reminiscent of an old Dutch harbor bar. Seating is limited, so reservations are recommended.

Absolutely loved my visit to A. V. Wees! The fondue cheese was rich, creamy, and full of flavor — one of the best I’ve had. The meatballs were perfectly cooked and seasoned, making them the ideal comfort food. The service was friendly and attentive from start to finish, which made the whole experience even better. I definitely recommend this place if you’re looking for great food and a welcoming atmosphere.

We had a family dinner on our vacation, my son wanted to try a dutch fondue and they serve a good one. The atmosphere is cozy and lovely, the service is very good and I must admit the food was very tasty (photos included). * one tiny thing I personally didn’t like is that there was a cat sitting on the bar and walking around freely in a place where you serve food *

The Jordaan is a great neighborhood in Amsterdam and no visit to the Jordaan is complete without a visit to the old distillery turned restaurant/tasting room. The staff are friendly and attentive. The jenever is plentiful. The beer selection is decent. The atmosphere is really nice! With seating inside and out, this location offers a nice respite from the crowds of the busy areas and should not be missed. I’ve never eaten here but the food does look amazing. Give it a shot!

Always nice to eat and drink at the beautiful Van Wees. It is almost without exception very busy, which is a good sign anyway - it will also be in many guidebooks, judging by all the languages ​​spoken there. The food is simply very good, without frills, and the service is extremely attentive, certainly worth an extra compliment. It must be a paradise for lovers of spirits; I am very satisfied with the wine list. Make sure you reserve well in advance, otherwise you will miss out.

We had a great time here. We were a party of 8, and were seated promptly on our arrival with reservation. The place has super atmosphere and a fun vibe. The food was outstanding. 4 of us had mussels and the waiter suggested we split two orders between the 4 of us. We were glad we did as the mussel pot came steaming hot and filled to the top. They were tasty and the broth was delicious. 3 others had the stew with frites which they pronounced excellent and my wife had what was apparently a very tasty goat cheese salad 3 of us did tastings of Jinever, which is sort of the grandparent of gin. We laughed as we felt we were at a paint thinner tasting. All in all, highly recommended.

If you want to try typical Amsterdam food, this is your place. I recommend the beef stew, the meatballs, the spicy chicken, and any of the other traditional dishes. The quality is incredible and the quantity is quite good. The prices are very good. The desserts, while good, may be a little limited, but after such a big meal, it's also nice to cut down on sugar. Totally recommended, and the service from the waiters is 10/10.

We had a sensational dinner sitting right on the doorstep and watching the cruises. Even the rain did not worry us. The wait staff are great fun and helped with drink choices and food choice for a truly memorable night. Lots of laughs and Geneve !! A Amsterdam must do.

I visited van Wees for dinner and drinks, and I couldn't have been more pleased with my evening there. First of all, the interior is fantastic; it's rustic and very cozy. Secondly, the food was delicious, and there was a good selection of drinks to choose from. Lastly, and most importantly, the staff was beyond service-minded. They were kind, humorous, and genuinely pleasant to have a conversation with. I will be sure to eat here the next time I'm in Amsterdam, for certain!

Since the restaurant is quite busy, reservations are recommended. The small restaurant has a cozy interior, but it gets very loud, making it difficult to have a conversation; it's better to sit outside in front of the restaurant. The service isn't the fastest, but it's very friendly and attentive.

A warm welcome, delicious pilsner and wonderful old gin.

I often pass by this place and always thought that it looks cute. But often wonder if it is a ‘touristy’ place. Yesterday, passed by this place again with a friend and we decided to walk in for lunch. We were so pleasantly surprised! The food was outstanding. The short rib meat was so tender and tasty. So was the traditional Stoofvlees met fries. We would’ve ordered more stuff if we had the time. Service was great too. Super friendly and thoughtful. We also had the pleasure of having live music on the terrace, which completed the whole atmosphere of our impromptu lunch. Keeping this one on my list for friends who are visiting me in Amsterdam.

Delicious Dutch cuisine with a huge selection of self produced juniper liqueur at different stages of maturation. The old cheese, the bitterballen (meat croquettes) and the stoofvlees with french fries (a beef stew with sauce and spices) are perfect.

Fab place to spend the afternoon, joined a table with some fellow travellers, had a few drinks - overlooking the canal, and enjoying some local cheeses.

Service is great. Interior is quite outdated, but I guess this is the intention.. outside in the terrace is quite nice. The food was ok, the steak is good. However the burger presentation could be better, it's literally just the bread and the burger and a big lettuce.

Everything was delicious. We recommend the mussels and the gin tasting. The staff was incredible. We had made a reservation, so we didn't have to wait. I recommend it for a dinner, a pleasant conversation, and a drink!

What can I say? Intimate location in de negen straatjes. Young and friendly staff. Various flights of Genever offered (get the Oude). The Zeeland mussels were "de lekkerste." We will be back.

Great atmosphere and food. We sat outside in there terrace and it was amazing. Matured cheese, farmers cheese, venison salami (must order) and bitterballen all great appetizers. Burger, short ribs and mussels were all delicious too. Friendly service - highly recommend!

we came here for a jenever tasting and the staff were helpful and very clear that we did not have to order food if we didn't want to! so if anyone is nervous about going just for a tasting (like we were), it's fine 😊 the tasting includes some very tasty cheese and salami we tried their "very old" jenever set and they were all excellent. they don't sell bottles of it here though, you have to visit their distillery in another part of town also they have a shop cat and he is magnificent

This place literally fell in our path… Busy and boisterous and obviously a favourite on the map. It was early Friday evening the sun was shining, beers and Geneva was flowing. Dutch tradition of ‘head butt’ - (small beer and large shot of Geneva to be drunk with your mouth on the rim of the glass! Gawd the stuff of legendary hangovers!!! ) This is the home of Geneva after all. The crowd were up for a good time - a mix of tourists, ex pats and young Dutchies all taking advantage of Friday vibes and amazing weather. I introduced Mark to Bitterballen - deep fried balls of cheese/ meat in breadcrumbs that they scoff by the truck load with beer in these parts…. They hit the spot ‘dirty and greasy’. We decided to stay for dinner as the food looked great. We both ordered Moules Frites, a huge pot of steaming Dutch spicy molluscs landed with chunks of bread and delicious salty fries. Service was friendly and attentive with plenty of Dutch banter, beers and Gruner Veltliner flowed and we exited into the beautiful city happy with our bellies full. Thanks team x

Had a very nice afternoon at Proeflokaal A. van Wees. Delicious jenevers in a beautiful, atmospheric ambiance. Very friendly staff and lots of fun and educational information about the jenevers!

Got here just after 7pm on a Wednesday and found a table outside for 1 immediately. It's a very popular place with great view over the canal. I loved sitting there reading and people watching for a couple of hours. I had a glass of wine, a small platter of snacks and the cheesecake for €30. Staff was lovely and the vibe was really cool. Exactly what I needed after a long day!

Being "the prime spot to get acquainted with Amsterdam's widely known genever culture," we were a little surprised by the servers' lack of knowledge and their inability to give us a quick overview of the different kinds of genever. But other than that, the food was excellent and the place very nice!

The restaurant is beautiful and stylish, and the waiter who served our table was very friendly and attentive despite the crowds. We were lucky enough to get a table on the terrace, which is even more enjoyable since the restaurant is located on the canal. Their bitterballs, a Dutch specialty, are excellent, as are the mussels Provençal served with fries. A truly wonderful experience!

We asked if we could have a coffee. The restaurant was actually still closed, but the nice gentleman invited us in anyway. I wouldn't have experienced something like that in Germany, but in the Netherlands, it doesn't surprise me :)

Very good brasserie right in the center. The service is friendlier than in many other places. The dishes are well-cooked. The tasting platter is very good. We loved discovering the Dutch specialties. The desserts with spirits from their distillery are excellent. The only downside is that the place gets very noisy when it's crowded. Reservations are recommended.

They have Jenever tastings that is the only way to try them all. The inside is historically beautiful and very unique unlike anywhere else I've seen in Amsterdam. And weird, but the bathrooms look like you're going to a large whisky vat. Very cool.

A great place to experience the Dutch culture! I loved their ribs. The beer is amazing. The waiters are very polite and fast. It is a bit expensive but it was definitely worth it. We liked the atmosphere. The only minus is the narrow spaces when you sit, tables are small and not enough leg space but I guess this is normal here ))
