The Pantry in De Weteringschans

I arrived around 1:30 PM. There was an outdoor seating available, so I was seated there. (It was late December, but I was wearing a down jacket so I didn't feel too cold.) My order of set menu 1 and a drink came to about 5,000 yen. The soup was delicious, but I was so full I ended up leaving the meatballs and potatoes that were my main course. I think the flavor is popular with Japanese people as well.

We visited this place in June 2025. Based on the reviews, I booked a dinner, but the overall taste of the dishes rather underwhelmed the whole experience. Service was ok, there was a lot going on, so we had to wait a bit to order. Ambience is really cozy decorated.

What a unique, authentic gem in Amsterdam's Canal District! Highly recommended if you want to sample delicious Dutch cuisine.

I ordered menu 2. It came with cheese croquette, grandma sheperd pie and mini pancake. Very lovely comforting homey taste. The staffs are attentive and friendly. The service was fast. Happy to visit again. Reservation is absolutely a must!

The service was very fast, the food was tasty, and the atmosphere was wonderful. Unfortunately, one serious incident at the end of the evening had a very negative impact on our experience. In the restroom, I saw our waiter use the toilet and then leave without washing his hands. He then returned to serving food to guests with unwashed hands. I work in a café myself, and this is absolutely unacceptable. Basic hygiene standards must be strictly followed in any restaurant.

Great little venue that pumps out the food. Staff are really efficient and friendly. Patient with their multi lingual crowd. Not sure how authentic the food is as not a local. We all enjoyed our meals and their set menus are an easy guide for the uninitiated. Tap beer and wines available as well.

The food takes a long time to come out, and it's generally tasteless. The only thing that's worth eating is the fries. Never trust the reviews. I was fooled by them. The only good thing about this place is that the staff is friendly.

Honest opinion: it really wasn’t worth the visit. It’s a small place with too many tables, not comfortable to stay in, and the atmosphere wasn’t very welcoming either. We arrived two minutes before our reservation time and were asked to wait outside for those two minutes. It felt like the staff themselves didn’t want to be there. The food did not meet our expectations, while the prices were high. Very touristy.

We found this delightful place online and gave it a try. Simple, typical local dishes, but truly tasty and well-prepared. The atmosphere is quiet and pleasant, and the staff are helpful. A perfect place for lunch to savor traditional cuisine.

Best authentic cuisine, extremely friendly and helpful staff

I came here based on the online ratings on Google. The reviews were very fair; the staff were friendly, and the food was of a high standard. Since I'm not very familiar with Dutch cuisine, I ordered set menus 2 and 4, with stewed beef and fish as the main courses! The portions were huge! Having a reservation is better; I arrived at 5:30 pm and didn't have to wait. However, the restaurant was full when I left!

Delicious food and friendly staff

Had the bitterballen, shrimp croquette, savoury beef and onion stew, pea soup, and a house beer — everything was so freaking good. Service was excellent with very lovely staff, always smiling, which made the experience even better. Great ambience too — nice music, cosy Christmas vibe, and a really warm, welcoming atmosphere.

Traditional Dutch cuisine with Chinese menu

This is seriously the best restaurant! ㅠㅠ I would have gone there again if I had gone earlier, but I went the day before I left ㅠㅠ The food was served quickly and really delicious. I had bitterballen (it was so good I ordered two), Dutch steak, and four bottles of house beer, and it didn't even cost 60 euros. It was the best restaurant I had during my four days in Amsterdam, both in price and taste! If I come back to Amsterdam, it will be because of this restaurant. ㅎㅎ It's near the Rijksmuseum! It's a great way to see the Rijksmuseum in the morning, have dinner, and then go see Van Gogh! We were lucky enough to get the last table, but there might be a line. I really recommend it even if you do have to wait! ㅎㅎ You'll probably be shouting "one more! one more!" like me! ㅎ

This a real highlight of our trip to Amsterdam. We wanted real Dutch cooked food and we got it. It's only a small place but the staff were so friendly and squeezed us in. I had Menu 3 (pictures) which was 3 types sausage (which is cold), stew and mash and the creams with advocaat which I had never had (I now realise that there is more to do with this drink than shove lemonade in it at Christmas!). It was all very tasty, I would definitely recommend this place if you want homemade comfort style food.

Very good traditional food Very authentic and excellent service

I made a reservation for 12:00 because they said it was the best restaurant in Amsterdam, but I arrived yesterday and was having a hard time adjusting to the time difference. When I got there at 11:00, they weren't open yet. They said they opened at 12:00, but Google says they open at 10:30. I couldn't bear to wait an hour, so I couldn't go, which was a shame. However, the atmosphere was great, and they were incredibly kind even though I went before making a reservation. I'm leaving a review to show my appreciation. I hope your business prospers.

We just had to eat here after watching people waiting outside for a table the previous day The atmosphere was fantastic, the food absolutely spot on. Cooked to perfection and reasonably priced. Jerome who owns the restaurant speaks at least 6 languages and is a brilliant host. Would highly recommend a visit.

The food is traditional Dutch and of good quality. You don't pay more than it's worth, unlike in other tourist traps, and the service is excellent. There's always a bit of a queue, but they serve you so quickly that a table soon becomes available. A must-visit!

As a tourist I was amazed with the warmth of the attendant. The food was so good, I plan to return here whenever I come to Amsterdam next. We got some nice recommendations of local Dutch cuisines. We visited during Christmas holidays, the theme of the restaurant was so beautiful and magical! Highly recommended 🤗 For those who are planning to come without reservations, I would advise going in a bit earlier, for example we went at 12:00 for lunch, post 12:30/13:00 the place was visibly full and it was hard to accommodate without reservations!

My husband and I had dinner at The Pantry on a recent holiday to Amsterdam. It is surrounded by other traditional Dutch food restaurants, but I am glad we chose this one. The service was friendly and efficient, and the food absolutely delicious. The only “drawback” is that the restaurant is very small and the tables are set very close to one another, but it was worth it to experience a wonderful meal there!

Super friendly and helpful staff! I ordered the menu1, and at the end I was too full and I couldn't finish my meal. I told them they didn't need to serve me the dessert. When I paid I was surprised they had make it into two dishes so I paid less. Although it's only about 1-2 euro, I'm so grateful for their kindness. Comfortable atmosphere, definitely the best pork shank I’ve ever had — a true explosion of flavor! Everything was excellent… and what can I say about the owner? Such a kind person! I strongly recommend this nice restaurant!

This was a solid place for a homey meal. There was a long line outside in the rain and we were lucky to get in with little wait. Many people after us without reservations were turned away as the hostess couldn’t guarantee how long the wait would be and there’s no space to wait inside as it is a very cramped place. We ordered set meal 1 and 3. My favorite was the pea soup from set 1.

This is my new favourite restaurant!! I had dinner here two nights in a row! The goat’s cheese and beef croquettes, oven dish, and poffertjes are absolutely delicious. Everything about this restaurant is amazing, from the food to the speedy service. I have nothing but high praises for this restaurant. I know I will be back again multiple times!! 😊

We fell in love with this place as soon as we walked in: the atmosphere is very welcoming, the staff is truly friendly, and the food is delicious! You can taste typical Dutch dishes cooked to perfection. We recommend the XXL appetizer with pea soup, raw herring (delicious!), and meatballs (creamy on the outside and crispy on the inside!). We can't wait to come back!

It's small but super cozy. The food is delicious and it's a classic Dutch place. Be prepared to wait because there's always a line. We ate outside to avoid the wait and they gave us blankets.

Considering the cost of living in the Netherlands, this is incredibly good value. I highly recommend the tomato soup. Sets 2 and 3 don't include soup as an appetizer, but if you add bean soup or tomato soup as an appetizer, you won't regret it.
