Luckily we had a reservation because the restaurant was full. There was a line outside, but it went pretty quickly. We ordered steaks and beers. The steak melted in your mouth and was really tasty. Excellent value for money. One star for the atmosphere because there were Spanish people sitting next to us who were laughing so hard that I couldn't even hear my own thoughts 🤣🤣 The waiters were really friendly and the service was fast. Thank you ❤️

We booked a table in advance, so we didn't have to wait, although those who show up without a reservation can expect a long wait, up to half an hour! The restaurant is very popular, and for good reason! Wonderful atmosphere, excellent national cuisine, friendly staff! I highly recommend this restaurant, but make a reservation first. Otherwise, you'll salivate while you wait, watching other patrons happily eat! The portions are large, so you'll be full. Dinner for two costs around €100, but that's without alcohol! The only downside is that it's very crowded, as is the case with similar establishments in Europe.

I had a truly wonderful experience at this restaurant. The pea soup was especially delicious! My only disappointment was that the potato salad with sauerkraut wasn't quite to my taste. The staff was also very friendly and attentive. Overall, I was very satisfied! I'd love to visit again!

The bean soup has a strong bean flavor and is extremely salty... it seems like it was boiled down for too long. They didn't ask how my husband wanted his steak cooked; I didn't realize Dutch people cook theirs so thoroughly that it ends up burnt and tough. It's a shame. If it had just been medium, I would have given it 5 stars... The dish I ordered is delicious, with a German-style Schweinshaxen feel enhanced by a sweet mustard sauce. The overall atmosphere is good.

The food was outstanding and the team at the restaurant were friendly, happy to have a chat and explain more about the menu. We loved that many of the tables you shared with other guests so got to meet new people and share travel stories. Thank you for such a great evening, it has been a highlight of our time in Amsterdam.

The dishes are delicious and the service is excellent; I must highlight their friendliness. Menu 1 is the largest and might be too much for someone with a small appetite, so it could be a dish to share.

It’s our third time here over the years. It deserves attention. If you’re going to try Dutch food (and Dutch wine) try it here. They turn humble cuisine into something really great and comforting.

We waited for 30 minutes and were first in line according to our number card. When it was finally our turn, the lady simply said, “Sorry, we don’t have a table for three.” What made this especially frustrating was that the group just ahead of us had been accommodated by pushing two tables together to make a larger table. Before we even had a chance to respond or say that we were willing to sit at a table for two, she walked away and took our number card with her. When she returned, she seated two other groups whose number cards came after ours, completely bypassing us while we were still standing there. We then told her that we could take a table for two, but instead of seating us, she simply handed us number 1 again and told us to wait. If we had known from the beginning that they could not accommodate three people, we would not have waited for 30 minutes. We even tried to make things easier by agreeing to squeeze into a table for two, yet customers who came after us were still seated first. The service also seemed extremely slow. It took a very long time for orders to be taken, and the food appeared to take just as long to arrive. I recommend going to one of the nearby restaurants instead. There are other traditional Dutch restaurants in the area where you can save yourself the time and avoid this kind of poor service.

Excellent food, friendly service, and nicely decorated. Pros: the food quality, aroma, and flavour were all top notch. All staff were friendly and helpful. Cons: the time limit of 1.5 hours for each table does not support the European culture of taking time to enjoy food and time with family or friends. The staff's practice of rushing service to cycle tables and maximise profits is very american and capitalist.

We didn't have a reservation that day, but luckily we got a table near the entrance. The dining environment was a bit lacking. The staff were very friendly, and the food was very homey. If you've never had Dutch food before, you should definitely give it a try.

In my opinion, it's overly hyped and not worth the queue but the restaurant is by no means bad - just not worth queuing for. The restaurant itself was small and beautifully decorated. The Dutch ham was definitely a stunning dish. Make sure to check with the waiter to make sure you are getting the right dish. The meat was tender and with the sauce was stunning, however too much of the sauce can be overpowering. Just a little sauce then the whole dish is elevated. Pea soup was decent, but the pairing with rye bread is debatable - there are probably better pairings than rye bread. The smoked bacon was nice. Croquettes with goat cheese was OK. If you are not a fan of cheese the goat cheese may be slightly off putting, but it was a nice dish. The pie with cheese cauliflower and beef, the curry was not equally distributed and as it had curry can be a bit too much. The portion was big, but slightly less with a light side might be nicer. The mini Dutch pancakes I would skip entirely and go to another shop. Much better options in Amsterdam. Desserts overall, as an observation, most people didn't seem to enjoy it as much. The waitresses didn't seem to know what's going on and the service was just carried by one gentleman who was a star. Overall this is not a bad restaurant if you order the right thing, but it is over hyped. Worth a try.

I had the ham, and it was absolutely perfect. I loved the cooking and the spices. The mustard sauce with the syrup was an absolute gem — so delicious!

I was looking for a traditional Dutch place for lunch/dinner. I found The Pantry. I loved the cozy place, the Google recommendation, and especially the food. A special mention goes to The Pantry beer: an 8.7% ABV kick with a full flavor and enjoyable finish.

Everything was great from the time we were greeted to the time we left. I got the combination special #1 and my wife got the oven dish with ground beef. The special came with pea soup with sausage and it was sooo good. We really enjoyed this comfort food. It was the perfect meal for a cool September day in a new place to explore. Make a reservation as there was always a line.

Waited over half an hour before they realized they forgot to serve us the app and first course of a 3 course meal. So we finally get one, except we actually ordered 2, for two people. Never checked on until the main. Took off some charge for the mistake but a horrible experience, cramped, and food not worth the hype. The dessert tasted like a plain vanilla yogurt, main was nothing special. Pea soup was decent. Herring was okay.

First time in Amsterdam we wanted to try authentic Dutch Cuisine. Glad that we found The Pantry. Great food and great service. We had to wait half an hour to sit. It's a good idea to reserve ahead of time. We ordered beef stew with cabbage and smashed potatoes and traditional Dutch Plate with meatballs. Both tasted great!

Having had touristy Dutch food the first time we visited Amsterdam, I wasn’t holding high expectations but I must’ve gone to the wrong place. Offering a combination of coziness, friendly fast service and hot delicious food, The Pantry is a great choice for traditional Dutch food. There’s four Dutch restaurants all next to each other and the other three were empty. There’s always a reason for that. Offering four sampler menus or individual soups, appetizers and mains at reasonable prices there’s something for everyone Missing pea soup from my childhood, I thoroughly enjoyed it and it’s served with some bacon on rye and a smidgen of delicious spicy mustard. I opted for the beef stew with red cabbage and perfectly lumpy mashed. The flavorful rich broth is well seasoned and one of the best I’ve had. My wife chose set menu 2. Goat cheese croquettes are creamy and delicious. The entree of casserole with minced meat and cauliflower was a piping hot variation of Shepards Pie and quite tasty. Dessert was traditional Dutch batter cakes with powdered sugar. They’re like a smaller version of mini donuts at a North American festival but with butter which is strangely awesome. Bottled beers are smaller than in Canada. I chose a blond option because the Belgian IPA’s are a bit strong for me. Perfectly refreshing and went well with dinner. Because it’s a small restaurant I’d recommend advance online reservations even at 5 PM. The staff is welcoming and makes you feel part of the scene. Service as quick and goodness hot and they recommended options for anyone who asked Overall a great meal and an excellent choice if you’re wanting Dutch food.

Service was a wee bit slow, but it was busy. I don't know what I was expecting but really it seemed to be either a smoked sausage or a meatball with different mixes of mashed potato, I had sauerkraut in my potato, hubby had cauliflower in his. I enjoyed the meal but I didn't see what the fuss was about. There are other items to be had, but we went for what seems to be a dutch dish.

Overcrowded, loud, very hot. I was there in August. Food below mediocre and astoundingly overpriced. I had a 20+€ Dutch "traditional" sausage which was below the level of Albert Heijn 1€ sausage. Some cheap Dutch style decorations hanging on the walls. Laughable place

Want authentic Dutch food? This place is for you. Casual, fun, rustic restaurant. Quick service, great food, fun time. Many choices from a menu that is interesting to understand. A little hard to choose but worth the effort. All was good, nice desserts, pictured is the remains of my apple pie and ice cream.

The two ladies serving tables are hospitality esperts, all the room was full of people , but their kindness and their charme is perfect making you feel at home . The food is very good, try it!

It's definitely better to book in advance. There were three of us, and the wait was long because they don't prioritize first-come, first-served, just space. But despite that, the hostess was incredibly friendly and kind, and the staff in general was very helpful. The waiter explained each dish and how to eat it. I ordered Hering (raw herring), Typical Dutch Ham, mashed potatoes, and sausage. I'm not used to herring. The other two dishes were delicious, and the staff were very helpful. The restaurant is very crowded, so it's best to make a reservation. There's a 15-30 minute wait time without a reservation.

The food was phenomenal. I actually meant to order the pork leg(its listed as ham on their menu) but ordered the pork chop and i enjoyed it. The desert and appetizers were great. Do make a reservation as they are always busy and there was a line up the two days I went. FUN FACT.... these photos ended my relationship because I sat across from someone I met in the line. LOL

I’ve visited Amsterdam several times before, during my trip to EU but now I’ve found my favorite original Dutch cuisine, the owner chef Jerome cares about their clientele, his team and how to prepare and serve the deliciously prepared great traditional Dutch food. “Erg lekker” ~ You can see by the pics, before and after shots “Saucer” - btw I’m a horrible picture taker. Dutch Ham is a must to try His staff and Jerome are all super friendly, professional and take ownership of every cuisines and customers, that’s what makes Pantry’s atmospheres so cosy, family oriented and great. This is a lovely place in Amsterdam to experience local cuisine. The only problem is that if you go without a reservation, you might have to wait a long time at the door. Even though I was traveling alone and didn't have a reservation, a table was set up for me within 20-30 minutes. I ordered pea soup and bitterballen (a type of Turkish dessert). The food was hot and delicious. The waiters were friendly and helpful. It's a place I would definitely visit again if I go to Amsterdam.

Unfortunately, it didn't meet my expectations. The mashed potatoes had too much pepper and the sausage was as thick as a large hot dog. The friendly staff offered us water, but that didn't change the fact that we couldn't finish the dish.

A little pricey, but in line with city prices, and they also offer various affordable menus for starters, main courses, and desserts. We wanted something easy and casual after several nights of reservations and dressing up. This was described as authentic Dutch cuisine and what stuck me was the “comfort food” feel to it. If you plan ahead, definitely make a reservation! Very small, cozy restaurant - we walked up and prob waited maybe 30 minutes total. Absolutely worth the wait! One of the best meals I’ve had on our trip so far - and very reasonably priced. I had the “oven dish” which I can best describe as the Dutch version of Shepherds pie, only better! Hubby started with split pea soup and declared it “better than mom’s!” The staff were amazing, especially given how busy they were. Do NOT miss the apple pie! (And all this time, I thought apple pie was a genuine American dessert!).

The German menu is especially convenient for German guests, as everything is clearly laid out. In addition to the regular menu, there are also four set menus. The selection is large enough that everyone should be able to find something to their liking. We were completely satisfied and will gladly return.

This is one of the better Dutch dishes I've had! I recommend that Asian friends order a main course with mashed potatoes to share with other Dutch snacks or appetizers (like bitterballen). The three of us ordered the cauliflower and mashed potatoes, which was delicious, but I think people who aren't used to potatoes as a side dish might find it a bit difficult to eat because there's so much of it!!! You'll be very full!!!

An authentic place, the food is delicious. I had the meatball with mashed potatoes, and it was a real treat. The mashed potatoes were homemade, which is worth mentioning as it's rare. The service was friendly. Excellent value for money. I recommend it.

Typical Dutch cuisine, I ordered menu number three. I would have added a little more for the appetizer, the main course consisted of stew and two side dishes, and the dessert concluded the menu. Both the main course and the dessert were good! I ordered a steak off the menu, which fell short of expectations; it was tough and lacking in flavor! I recommend the menus and the Dutch meatballs.

A must visit! We had menu #1 (sausage and 3 types of potatoes), sea bass, pea soup, tomato soup, steak, oven casserole, poffertjes, vanilla custard. Everyone as delicious, the family that runs The Pantry is kind, efficient, friendly. We left feeling full, welcomed, and happy.

We wanted to discover Dutch cuisine, and we certainly did! For starters, we had Bitterballen, which are a kind of potato and beef croquette, followed by goat cheese croquettes. For our main courses, we ordered a three-course set menu, which allowed us to try a little bit of everything, and it was all very good indeed. The cabbage was a little too vinegary for my taste, but that's how it's meant to be eaten. The service and welcome were impeccable; the staff were incredibly welcoming, smiling, and very friendly! I highly recommend it!

One of the best Dutch food restaurants in Amsterdam. A simple but very comprehensive menu, covering everything that represents the Dutch kitchen. The service is great and everyone works with a smile, what is not easy in a touristic city like this one. Just the space is very tight and you should make reservations, if you don't want to wait in a long line.

We only had one day to spend in Amsterdam, and the only reservation available was for brunch/lunch—which actually worked out perfectly since we were still jet-lagged! The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, especially when it came to explaining the menu and helping us understand the currency and charges. I ordered Menu 2, and everything was delicious. I especially loved ending the meal with the poffertjes—they were the perfect way to finish! The restaurant is quite small with limited seating. While they were accepting walk-ins in the morning, I imagine it can be much harder to get a table during dinner, so I would definitely recommend making a reservation in advance. Overall, such a wonderful experience—great food, friendly service, and a cozy atmosphere. Definitely worth visiting if you're in Amsterdam!

The typical Dutch ham was super delicious, although the presentation wasn't great, it was really tasty. The XXL combination of hutspot and boerenkool was also definitely worth ordering; the sausage and beef balls were excellent, and the four flavors of potato balls were quite fun. The servers were all smiles and friendly; highly recommended!

Incredible place. Amazing food. The most popular restaurant around. There were 17 walk-ins queuing hoping to get a table while we enjoyed our meal. They book out half the restaurant with reservations and leave the other for walk-ins. We queued up for about fifteen minutes and then had the best meal ever. Three courses and great value at just over 30 euros per person! The staff are so kind and fun. They were even dancing in the kitchen and laughing all the time despite being so incredibly busy. The service was top. We didn't wait very long for food at all. Highly recommend. The entire experience makes this the best restaurant I've even been to! Please go!

For years, it has been our favorite place for quality, delicious, and healthy food. Their takeaway service is excellent, and their menus are constantly updated. Gluten-free, refined sugar-free, and very tasty. Hosting guests is much easier with you! :))))

The reviews and the line outside encouraged us to try the restaurant; we wanted traditional food in a homey, non-touristy place. In the end, apart from the cheese croquettes, we were actually quite disappointed; the fondue in particular was quite sour, and the traditional dish wasn't anything special. The price was normal. I think there was a line at this point because it's difficult to book.
