If you're in Amsterdam and want to eat traditional and delicious food that locals also frequent, this is definitely a great place. The only problem is that it's small, so I highly recommend making a reservation. I went with a friend, and they took our table around 8:10 PM for our 8:30 PM reservation, but if there are more people, it might take longer for tables to become available. The food is absolutely delicious, and the staff are friendly and helpful. The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere; it's a charming place decorated with predominantly wooden elements and yellow lights. Main courses range from 15-25 euros. You should definitely have dinner here one evening when you go.

Highly recommend the Oven Dish, it was my favorite local food in NL. Reservations are recommended too, we went early and got seated straight away but as soon as we sat down small groups of tourists tried to get in and ended up having to wait. It’s physically very small and tables are close together, but the food is worth it and the service was impeccable.

Very good experience trying local, Dutch food. If you are in Amsterdam and want to try local dishes this is very recommended. The 2 hour time restriction is a little worrying but overall everything from starters to desert too less than allotted time. Come prepared ahead of time. Herring started was awesome.

I ate here twice in two days. Very memorable. I recommend the herring, pork knuckle, and beef with onions. If you especially like meat, order the pork knuckle. The portions are generous. The staff are warm and cheerful; a truly unforgettable restaurant.

Very good service and amazing food

An authentic Dutch restaurant, very pleasant, warm, and welcoming, thanks to the women who run it. Always a smile, always a friendly face. Delicious local food, made with quality ingredients and lots of love. Beautifully presented and very elaborate dishes. Generous portions. We started with the pea soup, which was excellent, followed by very tender meat, and finished with a dessert of ice cream, chocolate, cream... to die for. A well-deserved reputation for a restaurant very well located in the city center. Don't miss it.

A hidden gem in a popular dining area. Food: 5/5 - they had 5 menu specials which I tried #1. Everything was fresh and tasty. I started with the split pea soup, main course with a sausage and yogurt dessert. Their beer choices were extensive. Service: 5/5 excellent service. Be prepared to wait if you don't have reservations during busy hours. The place is teeny tiny. Accommodating more than 4 people could be a challenge. Atmosphere: 5/5 nice vibe to the place. There's limited outdoor seating but there can be smokers nearby.

Tiny and very busy but you can see why right away. Attentive and kind service. Make reservations if you can or be prepared to wait or be turned away. They simply have limited capacity but will try their hardest to seat you. Great for pairs or maybe up to 4. Not for large groups due to size. Best meal we had in Amsterdam hands down. Not pretentious, just good food made by hand. Skip the wine and have a beer. Felt like being fed by family.

Typical Dutch food, home-style dishes. Everything was very good and highly recommended. Menu in several languages ​​(including Spanish, which isn't common in Amsterdam). The interior space is very well utilized, although the tables are a little too close together, but everyone has their own space. We had a very good meal.

The service was very friendly and helpful. Since I don’t eat meat, the waiter recommended the dish with three mashed potato balls. Unfortunately, it was quite plain and boring. The pea soup was very nice, and the sausage was okay. Overall, the staff were lovely, but the vegetarian option could definitely be more interesting.

Was not even able to get a servers attention. Dismissive and unwelcoming atmosphere mixed with odd looks and stares. We were a party of seven, we were sat apart even though there was an open table next to the second half of our group. They then proceeded to sit two people not from our group there and ignore our requests.

When looking for traditional Dutch comfort food, we came across The Pantry and were not disappointed with the amazing food, friendly service and cute decor. The XXL combination meal is the "go to" selection for my wife and I to share along with the pea soup as a starter.

I just had dinner at the Pantry with my family last night and I would highly recommend coming here. Unlike many establishments, you could feel the love the family (this is a family run restaurant) and employees put into running this place. The atmosphere and attention we received was exceptional. I enjoyed Menu #1 but I really would have enjoyed the dessert my dad and brother in law had on menu #4!

Absolutely loved it! 🥹 We adored this restaurant. The decor is unique, rustic, and vintage; it truly feels like eating at your grandma's house. The dishes are delicious and generous, and the prices are more than justified. The staff is lovely, always smiling, and takes the time to chat with customers. A nice bonus: our server spoke a little French, which was a big help. The dining room is small, so it's lively, but that's precisely what makes the atmosphere so welcoming. Reserved a spot online a few days before and didn’t regret it. Great spot to try some classics and the people there were so nice. Tried the herring, which wasn’t for my but my friend loved, and the combination with sausage which wasn’t awesome. Finished off with some apple pie which I could eat all day.

Food was really good, maybe a pinch more of salt for the oven dish, but with the dutch mustard it was so good! They have a charger in the bar and it charges fast

If you want to enjoy typical Dutch dishes in an excellent setting, I recommend The Pantry. A word of advice: book a table. A great atmosphere with a fantastic playlist where the waitresses are always singing along while still serving you. The dishes are simple but authentic.

This little Dutch restaurant had us pleasantly surprised for such a touristy area, the food was hot, fresh, and about as good as Dutch food can be, the ambiance is great and definitely one of the better restaurants in the area

A great place to eat. They have a wide variety of local dishes. Almost everything is spicy, not too much, but very tasty. The desserts are also local and delicious. They're not spicy. The service and attention from the staff are excellent. I highly recommend it if you want to eat and try local food, especially if it's your first time here. And even if you haven't been before, I still recommend it. Hehehe. Overall, as a tourist from Vigo, I give this restaurant an 8.5 out of 10.

this is definitely a must stop for you in Amsterdam if you wanna try Dutch Food! The queue might be anywhere from 10-45 minutes depending on how lucky you are ! The croquettes and pea soup was top tier (Set Menu available) The Dutch ham was big, big enough for two people, but if you’re really hungry you can finish it. The service was great and accommodating even with a packed house.

It's practically impossible to get a table without a reservation, although you might get lucky and snag one when someone leaves from the tables without a reservation. It's recommended on forums, it's recommended by the AI, it's recommended by guidebooks, and if you search, you'll find my review, hahaha... I'll have to go! They have an extensive menu and also four set menus for €26, €30, €33, and €36 respectively. These menus include a starter, main course, and dessert. Drinks are extra, but for example, the 33cl bottles of beer are very reasonably priced, e.g., La Trappe Tripel for €5.50. The area has some good restaurants; if you can't get a table, look for another option, which I'm sure you'll like. I'd like to highlight the friendliness and warmth of the older, blonde waitress, and that the menu is translated into Spanish.

I was shocked because the steak was medium-well and so tough. I don't understand why there is a wait... I wonder if the other menu items are good, but anyway, don't order the steak. Since I went alone, they let me in before the people waiting in front of me.

Our second night in Amsterdam so we had to try Dutch. Working on previous reviews we booked well in advance and so glad that we did as we were able to walk straight in and not have to wait in line. We went with the set menu and it was delicious. The staff were amazing and friendly, the atmosphere casual but busy, friendly and homely, small and cosy. Had such a lovely time.

The Pantry is a small family run business making traditional Dutch cuisine! I could not have picked a better place to experience authentic Dutch food. The staff were polite, friendly and welcoming. I do suggest booking in advance as it gets busy, however, I was lucky to get a table for dinner. The food was delicious, good prices and big portions. My favourite pick was the combination of hutspot,boerenkool and zuurkoolstamppot served with smoked sausage! Vlaflip dessert and an amazing pea soup for starters. Absolutely delicious! I highly recommend this place to anyone wanting to experience traditional food. I will be coming back. What a pleasant experience it was!

Without judging Dutch cuisine, it's a place for tourists. Everything seemed very mass-produced and undercooked, from the appetizer to the dessert.

We visited this place in June 2025. Based on the reviews, I booked a dinner, but the overall taste of the dishes rather underwhelmed the whole experience. Service was ok, there was a lot going on, so we had to wait a bit to order. Ambience is really cozy decorated.

I arrived around 1:30 PM. There was an outdoor seating available, so I was seated there. (It was late December, but I was wearing a down jacket so I didn't feel too cold.) My order of set menu 1 and a drink came to about 5,000 yen. The soup was delicious, but I was so full I ended up leaving the meatballs and potatoes that were my main course. I think the flavor is popular with Japanese people as well.

The service was very fast, the food was tasty, and the atmosphere was wonderful. Unfortunately, one serious incident at the end of the evening had a very negative impact on our experience. In the restroom, I saw our waiter use the toilet and then leave without washing his hands. He then returned to serving food to guests with unwashed hands. I work in a café myself, and this is absolutely unacceptable. Basic hygiene standards must be strictly followed in any restaurant.

I ordered menu 2. It came with cheese croquette, grandma sheperd pie and mini pancake. Very lovely comforting homey taste. The staffs are attentive and friendly. The service was fast. Happy to visit again. Reservation is absolutely a must!

Great little venue that pumps out the food. Staff are really efficient and friendly. Patient with their multi lingual crowd. Not sure how authentic the food is as not a local. We all enjoyed our meals and their set menus are an easy guide for the uninitiated. Tap beer and wines available as well.

The food takes a long time to come out, and it's generally tasteless. The only thing that's worth eating is the fries. Never trust the reviews. I was fooled by them. The only good thing about this place is that the staff is friendly.

Honest opinion: it really wasn’t worth the visit. It’s a small place with too many tables, not comfortable to stay in, and the atmosphere wasn’t very welcoming either. We arrived two minutes before our reservation time and were asked to wait outside for those two minutes. It felt like the staff themselves didn’t want to be there. The food did not meet our expectations, while the prices were high. Very touristy.

Since I'm not very familiar with Dutch cuisine, I ordered set menus 2 and 4, with stewed beef and fish as the main courses! The portions were huge! Having a reservation is better; I arrived at 5:30 pm and didn't have to wait. However, the restaurant was full when I left!
