Truly an amazing restaurant if you want to try dutch food. The options they have are great where you can order a platter which allows you to taste multiple dishes. In the evenings there is a queue to get a table but it's totally worth the wait. The staff here is super friendly and they make you feel so comfortable. The pasta options were good as well. We tried the Calamari starter and the shrimp croquettes along with the traditional dutch cuisine and it was delicious. Overall I would definitely recommend this place if you are looking for some dutch cuisine.

It's a famous place for Dutch home cooking, so I made a reservation the day before and visited! Fortunately, it was midday on a weekday, so I was able to make a reservation right away, and when I visited right after it opened, it was quiet inside. However, the inside of the store started to get crowded around 12 PM. I was grateful that the person who was believed to be the owner of the store was very personable and kindly explained each time the food was served. I ordered menu number 1, and it was my first time eating Dutch home-cooked food, and it tasted quite healthy. Personally, the bean soup that comes out at the beginning is really my favorite..! It's a soup with a warm and rich flavor, so try it even if you don't like beans... Among the Hutspots, the one with carrots was the most delicious because it was seasoned well, and the sausage was thick and juicy, so it was delicious 😋 Even the dessert was delicious. It’s okay to go alone, so I recommend it! The candy given at checkout is sweet and good.

Absolutely delicious food--one of the best meals I had on our trip, and at a very reasonable price. I even made my husband go back a second time, and we were only in Amsterdam for four nights! Tip: Make a reservation in advance. If none are available, you might be able to walk in and inquire. The first time, we ate outside, and the second time, we waited just 10 minutes for a table. This may work if you're dining earlier in the evening and have a party of two, but it's very unlikely for larger groups.

We were lucky to get a table almost without waiting. We ordered shrimp croquettes and two portions of Dutch sausages with mashed potatoes. Croquettes were brought to the table quickly and were quite delicious but then we had to wait forever for the main course. Sausages were okay but nothing special. Mashed potatoes were very salty and it seemed like they were just microwaved. General impression: not worth the wait.

We sat outside which might have swayed the scoring. It was cold. Service was personable but not that attentive. We would have ordered another drink had they checked on us. Instead, it is a very busy restaurant and they kept focused on seating everyone which I understand. Food was ok. Chocolate desert was very good.

Absolutely our favorite restaurant and dinner we had in Amsterdam. We made reservations as it was extremely crowded. The food was amazing. We had the oven dish and the Dutch ham and both were so amazing.

I always try to visit the restaurant every time I go to Amsterdam. It is not too big so you have to make a reservation in advance. They serve delicious traditional food and they have some menus you can choose although the portions of some dishes are not too big.

Loved our dinner here! We found it difficult to find a place that sold exclusively dutch food, but this was one that had great reviews!! We were happy we got there early as a line formed after we got there and we only waited 10 minutes to get seated. It has really homey vibes and the waiters are friendly and so attentive. Our kids really enjoyed the poffertjes. My husband enjoyed the sea bass and I had the beef an onion stew. Everything was amazing!!

Finding typical Dutch cuisine was like looking for a needle in a haystack... Amsterdam is full of every type of cuisine, for all tastes... but very few places. With "The Pantry" we hit the mark! Small but very nice place, friendly and helpful staff, not insignificant is the possibility of consulting the complete menu also in Italian. Excellent and abundant dishes served quickly! Do I recommend it?! Certainly!

The food is delicious. The plate is still warm even after you finish it. It’s great. The coffee is delicious. The burnt aroma of the muffins goes well with the powdered sugar and cream. The clerk has a very nice attitude and is very patient even if the customer doesn't understand English. Business is so good, be sure to make a reservation

I didn't make a reservation. Although I arrived at the restaurant at almost 2:30, the restaurant was full and I had to wait for about ten minutes. There is a Chinese menu, the staff are very friendly, and the food is delicious. I ordered hot appetizers and an apple pie. I was lucky enough to enjoy Dutch food here for the first time in my life. Full of good impressions.

The food is good. They have typical Dutch dishes. What I would not recommend at all is the sausage tasting that they offer: there are literally 3 pieces, which although they are delicious, are not worth the price they ask for.

This is the best traditional Dutch food we have found so far in Amsterdam. The owner/ host is incredibly friendly and accomodating. Sometimes there is a wait but it is well worth it.

I enjoyed it here! If ever I return again, I’m hoping they’ll still be around so I can enjoy their delicious meals and friendly atmosphere. The decor was cute. Their menu has several different languages so you’d have to flip it to your language which I think is great too. Small place and they do get busy so definitely have a reservation! We lucked out we came here just before the late crowd. I’d highly recommend it here for traditional Dutch cuisine and a friendly smile. We appreciate feeling like we aren’t tourists in here. It felt like that American sitcom CHEERS lol.

What a lovely snug small place. Loved the multinational environment. They have menus in so many languages! We were sat between Italian, French, Chinese and Dutch in the near vicinity. Food was very hot and wholesome, lovely coffee too. Lady and gent serving were so friendly proving excellent service.. Prices were reasonable as food was good quality. Definitely would recommend.

Little hole in the wall family restaurant with authentic Dutch food, exactly what I was looking for! No reservations were left that day so I just tried to walk in. They were packed at 6pm on a Friday, so it was about a 15 minute wait. We'll worth it. I ordered the number 4 but swapped for the goat cheese croquettes. They were very flavorful and I would recommend them. The fish was light, fresh, and tasty. Lastly the dessert was just the right amount of sweet. Very happy I waited. I did also have the Dutch red wine, which was just ok, I'd go for the French next time.

Super good pea soup- highly highly recommend. Waitress was super sweet. The space is a little small and there wasn’t much seating, but we were able to walk in and get a table. Overall great hearty food!

We ate here during our visit to Amsterdam and loved it. The gentleman was very friendly, we didn't have a reservation but he managed to fit us at a table. And thank goodness because we loved the typical Dutch menu. Great value for money. Many congratulations to everyone!!!

I would skip the menu and order a dish from the menu, they looked very good. The main dish on the menu was very good but the starters left something to be desired, for example the assortment of cold cuts was very poor. Of course, the service was very good, everyone was very friendly.

We had lunch at the Pantry a few days ago, I found everything very good: the pea soup delicious, the Dutch prawn croquettes also delicious, and Hutspot!! The service is also quite fast. The waitresses were all nice, kind and friendly!! The decor of the room is gorgeous I really recommend it to you.

The food is so good! And the staff is even better! Go there if you like to be treated with kindness and smiling faces. They did everything they could to accommodate us at their best during saturday evening rush hours and they are very honest with the people waiting outside. They don't treat you as numbers and they let you enjoy their delicious food without pressure. Not a given in such a popular place!

I completely understand why the reviews are so high. The food is delicious! The service staff are very nice and super friendly! No discrimination against Asians at all! Ordered the set for 29 euros, it was worth it! It's just that the store is hard to find and the space is small, but the toilets are clean! The ground beef one is great! Not even oily!

It was our first contact with Amsterdam gastronomy and we can say that it was a true success. We had the option of trying two different menus and everything was delicious. But without a doubt, the best thing about The Pantry is the attention and kindness of the entire team.

Okay place but nothing exceptional. We walked in and told to sit in the tiniest table up against a wall when we clearly had coats and bags, would never have worked. Then sat outside thinking we'd have more space only to be put on a tiny table in between two couples both eating, touching eachothers elbows there was so little space. Enjoy eating your dinner with cigarettes blown in your face. Anyway onto the food, we had the stamppot, and a goats cheese starter. The place was winding down after the lunch rush but still took over 15 minutes for the staff to come and take our order. The starter was nice but very small for the price. The stamppot was very underseasoned, and lacked much flavour at all, which in itself is impressive as there is so many different items in it you'd think it wouldn't turn out bland. The sausage itself was very under salted too. Overall wouldn't return, every salt and pepper on the tables are practically empty, which makes sense given the food.

Very expensive for average quality dishes

The servers were very friendly and nice, especially in guiding tourists into their restaurants. There was a long line for non reservation walk-ins during weekdays, and I believe it will be even more crowded during weekends. But as mentioned, I think this restaurant is overrated by tourists who seek hospitality in a northern Euorpean country. The food was ok but felt like overpriced for its quality. The ham on the first plate of the meal was too raw and mushy, almost like a bean paste. The chocolate moose on the last plate was too sweet to even swallow. The eggnog was too bitter like a medicine. The second plate with mashed potato and beef was nice. People sitting outside of the restaurant tend to smoke ALOT, so stay away from there if you're a non-smoker.

Even though we had been told that Dutch food was not good, The Pantry has been a find. Maybe Dutch cuisine is not as "refined" as others, but everything was very delicious and the staff was excellent. It is necessary to make a reservation because it is a small place. If you want to know traditional Dutch food, it is a success.

After a very long walk, we were prepared to be sent away cos we had no reservation. Despite the place being packed, they welcomed us with smiles and genuine kindness and let us sit outside by a warm light. We ordered the Pantry menu to share and it was delicious. The vibe in this place is something else beautiful.

amazong experience, the staff is really kind and funny. we were 8 and they arrenge to put us all together in a table even though we had to wait a little more it was worth it, they also allowed our dog to stay in with us under the table and brought water for him. the food was really tasty and with real flavours, we can say it is home-made. it was the birthday of my dad and they arrenged to light a candle and sing happy birthday for him. they were very charm to us and make us laugh and enjoy during the lunch. thank you for the food and experience guys!

Outstanding, authentic dutch cuisine. The waitress was really nice, heart-warming with us. If you really want to try traditional dutch cuisine, you must visit The Pantry. They also have vegetarian options, not vegan (keep that in mind). A must-go.

I really liked the food, if you want to try something traditional with homemade flavors I recommend the dish that has a combination of three typical Amsterdam dishes. Also poor, the vanilla cream was delicious.

Had the hutspot with smoked sausage and it was delicious. I love that they have menus in different languages and that the waiters are multilingual too.

The atmosphere is nice but can be a bit loud, however the service is extremely friendly and accommodating. The variety of drinks on the menu are quite good, didn’t find the food to be anything extraordinary and was somewhat reasonably priced. Best bet is to go with the food specials on the separate menu. Also highly recommend a reservation or risk waiting outside.

We felt disappointed for this visit. 😔 We'd walked miles to book a table, the day before, to find out you have to do online. Then got a reservation for the next day at an odd time. 4.30pm We went al la carte as the pre determined menus weren't the right combo for us (and our choices ended up being cheaper than the set one) Great expectations from the reviews; The pea soup with ham was delicious. Rich flavour and moreish. The second course ; oven dish of mash and cauliflower/beef was nice at first but lacked a gravy sauce, so was a bit 'samey' and dry. The beef stew, with cabbage and mash was good. (The red cabbage and mash were very tasty but the beef stew lacked depth. It was nice enough but not wow, it was 'okay ') Dessert ; (7€) for 1 stroopwaffle and a bit of icecream and whipped UHT cream (I thought it would be a proper waffle) it was nice, but for the price very disappointing. Remember to check the price of water when they offer you a bottle (as they don't offer tap water! 🤔 ) our neighbour's got a surprise at 5€ for 50cl. I believe this place is marketed to tourists! Whilst it was okay , we were disappointed as we had taken the time and selected it from other restaurants selling similar dutch, cuisine . Service was friendly and efficient.

The Pantry is a great choice to try Dutch food and feel like you are dining as if you lived in these latitudes. The experience with menu options by steps or a la carte, we tried the chop with peas and the hutspot, very tasty! The team is actually a family with many years of experience in gastronomy, and it shows. Just by saying that the menu is in many languages ​​(French, Italian, Spanish, Greek, simplified Chinese... among others) you can tell that it is a place where they strive to make you feel "at home." Don't miss this gastronomic gem on your visit to Amsterdam.

Excellent food, authentic atmosphere and very affordable prices. We would have liked to return if our stay had been longer! Taste the beef stew with red cabbage and the little pancakes with butter for dessert, you will fall in love! Only small downside: the noise in the room since the place is cramped but it doesn't bother us that much given the ideal setting and the food.

The restaurant is decorated well and has character. It is certainly cosy as the tables are very close together. The clientele at this establishment is varied and can be difficult. The menu is extensive and there is a sperate special menu. We opted for the sauerkraut mash with sausage and beef stew with sausage. The mash was quite flavoursome but the sausage was average. The apple pie with ice cream was pleasant. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The service was good, better than the food and they dealt with a mishap well. Be sure to reserve a table as we saw many that didn't get turned away or asked to wait in the queue.
