Wonderful and very cheap place to eat homemade Dutch food. A little far from the center but well worth it. Few tables and always full but with luck you will find a place.

We wanted to know a little about Dutch gastronomy so we stopped at this house-restaurant at 5 in the afternoon. Good service and good food, what we liked the most was the dessert, I recommend ordering the homemade pudding.

Fantastic no-nonsense restaurant. Delicious freshly prepared vegetables and meat. Real old Dutch, such as stewed meat and veal liver. Super!

The first time I ate the stew here I was crying over my plate. I haven't eaten this so well since my mother's death. Stewed pears are also so delicious and then the macaroon pudding, so nostalgically delicious! The second time I ordered exactly the same thing again, luckily I kept it dry and I enjoyed it again.

Delicious Dutch food. You can't go wrong with the schnitzel. Be sure to make a reservation, email has worked best. It's a small place relative to the number of tables and you may sometimes have to wait a little while even with a reservation. They even have a vegetarian schnitzel!

The amazing food and service is enhanced even more by the atmosphere and lighting, like a warm dinner party. Make sure to get "take-away" if you can't get a reservation!!

It was so much fun again and we had a delicious meal with the beach neighbors. Bas can cook Dutch cuisine so deliciously and Lia ensures a cozy living room atmosphere with the service and that the delicious food comes to the table quickly. Fantastic!!!

Really fantastic, requires reservation but the food is excellent, typical Dutch dishes at a super honest price, 21 euros per person for 4 dishes, 2 beers, a bottle of water and an ice cream.

This is a real gem in the center of Amsterdam. Family owned restaurants with traditional, tasty Dutch food. Almost impossible to reserve, it's worth the effort :)

I was so pleasantly surprised when I came to this restaurant. Nothing pretentious, nothing fancy or over the top, just a simple small place where people come for a home cooked meal with simple yet high quality ingredients ( and with a helping of love for the craft of cooking). If you get hot easily, do not come here because the restaurant does not have air conditioner and it gets stuffy. It absolutely gave me the endearing impression of a meal at home. Creamy mushroom soup elicited nostalgic emotions. The delicious and cooked to perfection schnitzel with a balck pepper sauce was a celebration of quality meat. The simple sides of cooked leeks and fried ( real, not French fries) potatoes made it so much homier. For dessert , we went for the pudding of the day, which was a tapioca pudding ( not the nursing home kind, but the delicious and thick kind) with whipped cream and a liqueur-used thinl layer of sauce with have a gourmand bitterness, toning down the sweetness. My sister had an airy chocolate souffle ( which is exceptionally hard to make, despite the seemingly easy recipe) with a cherry preserve, sweet, yet tart. Two things to note, you absolutely need a reservation here!!! To the owners, please change "whippet" cream to "whipped", because it gives the wrong impression;).

First time of Dutch. Impressive stewed beef, prize winning-schnitzel. Cannot stop eating the mashed potato. Chocolate souffle is awesome btw.

1 downside, had too few potatoes for 2 people, actually better 1 bowl of potatoes per person. Rest is ok

Amsterdam is not Texas because bigger is not necessarily better. Case in point is Hollands Hap Hmm restaurant. This tiny restaurant is truly a gem, and if you're lucky enough to get a reservation, you'll see why local folks rave about the traditional delectable meals, awesome service and like home vibe.

My favourite restaurant in Amsterdam since I moved to the Netherlands 3 years ago, simply because it knows what it is and doesn't try to be anything else (hard to find in this city). They are the best at what they do. Food is great quality, nothing too fancy but its all delicious and comforting. Seasonal vegetables so you always get to have something different every time you go. The prices are so reasonable and such a breath of fresh air in a place where you feel you are getting ripped off at every corner. I brought my dad here when he visited me over 2 years ago-and we have been coming together ever since, and have brought other family members who have come to visit me in the Netherlands too. He talks about it to anyone he knows who is visiting the city. The families who run it are so lovely and have amazing, old school service. I have never been disappointed here. Special mention to the Amsterdam Beer Chicken and the Chocolate Fondant!!!!

Simply wonderful. Staff is the best. Food excellent and affordable. Just a bit noisy because the place is not big. But it is defnitely worth a visit for dinner. Reservation is recommended

Very cosy restaurant that feels like a family home. Authentic dishes that felt like your grandmother had just cooked for you. The only improvement for me would be the dessert menu as it’s was a bit lacking.

So glad we found this restaurant! The service was great and the food felt like a little piece of home. The dining area is set up in a space that feels like someone’s home (and probably was) and had a cozy feel. I got the award-winning schnitzel and highly recommend getting the sauce. It was tasty and not overly oily with a good ratio of meat to breading. The fried potatoes were crispy and worked well with the mayo and the sauce! My partner ordered the beef stew and high was delicious with the boiled potatoes and had a great depth of flavour.

One of my favorite meals in all of Europe. If I could give 6 stars I would. Everything was amazing, stewed beef, beer chickens, mushroom soup (soup of the day). Service was excellent. Finished with some amazing deserts and a pleasant walk back to the hotel. If you find yourself in Amsterdam this is a must visit restaurant.

the most incredible, lovely, gezellig (cosy) restaurant in Amsterdam. Run by a family for really long time. It offers nicely, lovingly home-made Dutch food. It's worth while trying to get there, best to call in advance cause it's always full of locals. Just been there last week and my son loved the vegetarian hamburguer (best I've ever had), he said. So, yes we highly recommended!

The space is small and you must book in advance. However, it is worth doing. The food is very good (I highly recommend the beef stew, fantastic), the prices are more than reasonable and the portions are generous. For us, the dishes were accompanied by a very generous side dish of potatoes (boiled or fried) as well as two further side dishes, one based on courgettes and one based on cauliflower, which were also quite generous. The service was quick and the waiters were very kind (and they spoke excellent English so we had no communication problems)

The food was delicious! The service was great and the environment is nice. It can get a bit noisy because it is a small space, but that didn’t ruin the experience at all. Do make a reservation, otherwise you will not be able to get a table.

Delicious food again!! Pulled pork with boiled and baked potatoes with ratatouille, then extinguished with a Zatte from the Het IJ brewery.

Friendly staff really helping even though it is between local and tourist spot. The concept is simple à la carte, main course comes with boiled potatoes (if you want fried extra cost) and 1x of vegetables what is on a list on the wall. They have some specials. The place is where you eat on a bit higher paced than your standard restaurant but still enjoyable, no rush. The food is really basic nothing special really home feeling portion is not big, but the prices are not high. With the hype of tourist it is a pity or else I will come in once in a while for a quick meal after work to go back to work afterwards. 3-/10

Excellent typical Dutch restaurant. We made a reservation for dinner. They are open from 5pm to 8.30pm. After that they don't feed anymore. The dishes are plentiful and the prices are average. It's not the usual place for tourists. More of a local place, frequented by locals too. Easy to reach by tram from central Amsterdam. Kind and friendly staff.

One of the best schnitzel (with their house sauce) I’ve ever tried! Beef stew and Amsterdam chicken were great as well. A must-try if you’re looking for local Dutch food.

Super schnitzel 😋 and good service. Only the schnitzel could have been a bit bigger and the vegetable (broccoli) was cooked through, but that's how mothers used to make it 😀

The best place for local cuisine at reasonable prices. Many locals were there eating when we arrived. The atmosphere is low key but the food is extremely tasty and flavourful. The stew melted in your mouth and the broth was superb. The schnitzel was also good. There were a few vegetable sides that came with our meal. All were home cooked. We were so full but would have loved to try their desserts. A delicious taste of local flavour.

Delicious Dutch food at an affordable price. The portions were large and the waiting time was very short. I recommend the chicken in beer sauce and the asparagus soup. The only downside of the restaurant is the small space - the tables are way too close, making it difficult to move around. I recommend making a table reservation

The most delicious beef stew I've ever had. My partner had the pork, which was also extremely tasty. Even the veggies on the side were full of flavour. Make sure to book ahead as we were lucky to get in and saw many people turned away. We'll definitely be back to try the meatballs next time we're in Amsterdam!

Food is fantastic with reasonable price

I was waiting that moment for so long. So after a long time we have been in the restaurant and we had amazing food. We took 3 starters, 3 main course and literally everything was excellent. I loved the location because personally I love that style, local food with fresh things everyday. Highly recommend to try that, they are always fully booked so boook it in advance.

Good food! Atmosphere was a little too loud for my liking but it’s probably a personal preference. Bitterballs were great along with the main courses, chicken sate and the beef stamppot! Highly recommend the stamppot. Chocolate cake was also great, will visit again if i have the chance to! Just that water was a little expensive at €3 per bottle.

Honestly pretty upsetting that they don’t inform us that you are not able to eat here if you don’t have a reservation.

Very quaint and cozy restaurant that serves authentic Dutch food at a fair price. Very friendly wait staff!

Everything was good, from the style of the decoration to the taste, it was a restaurant I liked. The only downside was that when I walked in, I saw through the glass that two of the chefs in the kitchen were not wearing hats, I think it is very important to follow certain rules when you work in the kitchen, even though I didn't find hair in the food.

So glad I got a table at this restaurant as a walk-in. The food was abundant, delicious, and memorable. Wish I had room for dessert because it all looked amazing
