We had a lovely dinner starting with the Guinness and oysters. From there on it just got better with their own Coffee Liqueur and Limencello. Highly recommended. 🙌🏼

Pop-up restaurant Tiny Danser has been located here since June 1. Highly recommended! Delicious food here. Tasted various dishes, on the chef's recommendation, all delicious and interesting flavor combinations. The wine was also very good, and be sure to try the tiramisu for dessert! The atmosphere was friendly, nice to be able to look into the open kitchen, the staff is super friendly and cordial. Highly recommended!

There is no Ukrainian food. As I understand it, it didn’t work out. One Italian food. I was here in May and ate dumplings and borscht. It has now been removed from the menu. The menu is in Russian in the photo.

I came back after a few months and the management changed. Italian product and dishes and good drinks. Why not give it a chance? everything is possible...!

Poor quality ingredients, undercooked cold food and recipes lacking in flavour whilst very expensive

The place is cozy, the service is kind. They highly recommended the local flavored vodkas, which we asked for, but we shouldn't have. It was quite weak. The food is nice but tasteless. The Ukrainian craft beers, on the other hand, were very tasty.

Love this pop-up restaurant. Had an amazing meal with a great selection of wines. The Chicken Kiev is an absolute must-order and the plum-sauerkraut dish was heavenly. The service was impeccable, treating us all night to a wonderful dinner. Would love to see if they open up a regular spot in Amsterdam!

How can I possibly review a restaurant that isn't open when both the website and google maps says it's open? This is the second time that I have travelled to this restaurant. Today, the chairs on the tables appeared to be gathering dust. I'm going back to Kyiv soon and that appears to be the closest place to find a Ukrainian meal. So looking forward.

Great borsch and outstanding Kiev cutlet, good variety of food for good price. Definitely will visit it one more time for ... borsch, cutlet and sirniki. Very fast and pleasant service!

A place to try Ukrainain food. The food itself is okay, but price-quality is terrible. Almost everything is overpriced: 5 small pieces of dumplings (varenyky), consisting of simple dough, sauerkraut and white yogurt on top cost 16 euro. It doesn’t worth it. A tiny glass of cider is 8 euro. Ridiculous. Also, menu is very limited. I don’t recommend the place unfortunately. You can find other places to try Ukrainian cuisine.

I visited this place somewhere a week ago, it was a wonderful experience. The food was delicious, especially Ukrainian Borscht. I definitely recommend it!

Fine dining level small portions

Was pretty good! Don’t expect traditional dishes here, they are all with a twist which I personally appreciated (but can’t say the same for my parents 😂). Varenyky with sauerkraut and plumes + and salo with smoked paprika were the best ❤️ Chicken Kyiv was also very very decent. The most expensive fish in the menu didn’t have a lot of taste, so was a shame to pay so much for it, same goes for wine. I would say a bit pricey for what you get but nice for a one-time visit.

Recommended by a colleague for their amazing Ukrainian menu and we weren’t disappointed. Food is super authentic and service is awesome, loved the wibes, cozy atmosphere, perfect for groups or couples.

Friendly and caring staff, delicious food

I had a great dining experience with a group of friends. We had a assortment of Ukrainian food. In general food is pretty good, but Chicken Kyiv and Varenyky are superb. Staff is great and added more specialty to the night. They served us some special drinks from Ukraine and explained carefully all the dishes. I would definitely come back.

The Ukrainian pop-up is otherworldly. It’s our second time here and we can’t praise it enough! The taste and flavors are amazing! Our favorites are Kyiv Chicken, Varenyky with sauerkraut, borshch (both vegetarian and with meat), and of course salo spread 🤤 The wine pairing was amazing too. The service is top notch. Overall experience is a blast! We wish they stayed here. 🙏

Ukrainian pop up restaurant. Traditional Ukrainian food with a modern twist

It's a great place! We've been there three times already, and my husband (who is Dutch) has also gone with his friends. The food and drinks are always delicious, and we love the friendly atmosphere. Thank you for opening this fantastic spot! P.S. Vareniky with cabbage - a must-try dish!

But if you understand that that taste is impossible to recreate on the other side of the continent, you'll be very grateful 😉 also great choices of ghorilka (vodka), just ask a waiter which flavours they have (thanks to Liza for serving us). We were visiting the place with my Ukrainian friends 2 days after they opened as it was all over the TikTok and IG. With high hopes we expected to feel like at home! However, instead we received smelly place next to the toilet, mediocre food and not Ukrainian (very poor) service (maybe because it was just newly opened). As it is a 2 month pop-up, I undertand why interior left from previous restaurant, however, the taste of food is nothing special or die for.

We were in a restaurant on Sunday. Really nice place, friendly service staff. I don't know her name - the waitress (a girl with long dark hair) is very friendly. She told me everything, even gave me a wine tasting (my friends couldn't decide which one they wanted). The dishes are delicious. Since many people there (not only Ukrainians) were waiting a little for meals and payment. Overall, I liked it. Thanks to the owner for supporting Ukrainian culture.

For anyone who wants excellent home cooking, Alex Pinard has the best Ukrainian food in Western Europe. Try the borscht it’s excellent as well as Chicken Kiev. Don’t believe any reviews that are negative because they don’t know what good food tastes like. 5Stars to Alex Pinard!!!

A wonderful establishment, the food was very tasty, borscht in general is like from childhood, our company is very satisfied with the evening and our friends from America who were with us were delighted! The service is super, very cozy and pleasant and tasty!

So far the worst food I tasted in Amsterdam. I wouldn’t even call it Ukrainian. Because that wasn’t it. Varenyky were terrible, with liquid filling, the dough was gray and even its shape wasn't right. The starters are not starters as such, those things you usually get as a free welcome dish in Ukraine. Size of dishes was also very small. The chicken Kyiv you cook with a single piece of chicken breast and not with chicken minced meat. And don't get me started about the prices. That stuff didn't deserve any money (fyi 5 varenyky cost 16 euro).

A friend in Amsterdam had recommended this place to me, as it had recently converted into a Ukrainian themed restaurant, and with my wife from Ukraine, it was something that I was not going to pass on the chance to visit. A little out of the way, but being honest, it got me away from the central side of Amsterdam which is something I care very little for, and was great to get to a part of the city that I might not have visited at any other time. For a Thursday night the place was packed, and was great decor in Ukrainian artists style. Menu had a nice Ukrainian flavor to it, but not out and out Ukrainian, just a nice European take on Ukrainian dishes. Ordered the Chicken Kyiv, Borscht Eggs, and Cherry Cake, along with a few Ukrainian cider's from a brewery in Kyiv. Food was prepared in no time, and very tasty. All in all, was really great to get out to sample this restaurant, and was in a good lively area of the city, that I ended up visiting other bars in the area before heading back to central Amsterdam.

We visited this restaurant with high expectations, enticed by the buzz around its opening. The ambiance, though not distinctly Ukrainian in style, featured paintings depicting Ukraine, adding a unique touch to the setting. As Ukrainians ourselves, we were eager to indulge in the flavors of home. Unfortunately, the food didn't quite meet our expectations. While the presentation and the enthusiastic introduction to each dish raised our hopes, the taste fell short of the authentic flavors we were looking for. It was a bit disappointing, given our anticipation.

The food was very tasty, the service was at the highest level, the waiter Lisa served, she is a very attentive person and will help you choose both food and drinks to suit your taste. The expanded menu is missing, we would like more of our Ukrainian dishes, and our music is missing. And so, everything was great. We will come again❤️❤️❤️

Food is quite expensive for what you get

Really disappointing experience. Borscht soup was lukewarm, chicken Kiev very basic, potato dumplings served cold and desserts were both dry and lacked flavor. Best part of the meal - Ukrainian cider which came in a can. My grandparents and mother were Ukrainian and I was really looking forward to this meal. 😞

Complete disappointment! 🤮 This is not borscht, but some slop of anthemic color, it seems that someone threw that borscht on your plate! It is obvious that the people who work there have never tasted Ukrainian borscht in their lives and have never seen it. Shame! The portions are meager, the prices are exorbitant. I do not recommend!

We were in this restaurant on Saturday and were completely disappointed. There was very little Ukrainian on the menu, and I didn't even want to try anything from what there was. There are no golubts, no golubts, and I can eat my Ukrainian borscht at home. At the end of the hall there are only Ukrainian paintings, we were not allowed there, we were seated near the entrance where there is not even a hint of a Ukrainian restaurant, that was the advertisement, we came specially from another city to feel as if you were at home in Ukraine. We don't have such restaurants in Ukraine! What do they show foreigners? We have a colorful, beautiful decoration, the waiters are dressed differently, if I were not Ukrainian, I would not understand that I entered a Ukrainian restaurant. I think that at least one person in the restaurant should speak both English and Dutch, because an elderly Dutch couple came to us, started to speak in Dutch, the administrator rudely told them to speak only in English, they sat down at the same table, she took them from there I moved to another table, I don't understand why, and they just walked away, with such an attitude towards restaurant guests, I don't know how long this restaurant will last and show its inhospitality, especially to local residents. Make a normal service, a normal menu, and not just anything, and Ukrainians will come to you with pleasure. I do not recommend, unfortunately. The mood was spoiled. 😢

Cozy place with very pleasant staff. We tried borsch — delicious but not very traditional, snacks — lard was yummy! and poppy seed roll — overpriced for the amount you get, also slightly dry. Happy that there are some Ukrainian craft beers in the menu — I think more people should be introduced to the variety of Ukrainian craft beers. Cause they are great! I think it’s a nice place but the price / amount of food per portion could be more balanced.

We greatly enjoyed our visit to the Ukrainian pop up restaurant. Everything was superb - the authentic Ukrainian food, friendly staff and cosy atmosphere. The lard spread and the fermented vegetables were the best. And of course borsch and varenyky (dumplings) with potato and sauerkraut (the latter with a nice twist of plum). For desert we had syrnyky (sort of cottage cheese poffertjes) and poppy seed roll. Everything was delicious! Congratulations to the team! We will definitely be back! 🇺🇦

As a Ukrainian I must say I was very disappointed. This is not a good representation of Ukrainian cuisine. The food was too much played with to put a modern twist of it, however the beauty of traditional Ukrainian food is in its simplicity and authenticity. Varenyki had very thick dough, borscht was cold. On top of that we waited 45 min for someone to come and take our order. If you do end up at this place order salo and chicken Kyiv

Food is a bit overpriced and taste is less authentic than an average Ukrainian food. You are getting 5 varenikis (!!) for 16 (eur). Salo was OK.

As a Ukrainian, I want to leave my impressions here. A friend came with a child, they went to your restaurant specifically for Ukrainian dishes. The children were hungry. We also left the restaurant hungry, angry and very disappointed. A strong negative impression was left. Borscht is tasteless and brown, not like real borscht should be. Sour cream was immediately in the soup, but not everyone likes to eat like that. Dumplings were cold, filled with ice crystals, also filled with sour cream sauce. Again.. not everyone likes it so much, not everyone can tolerate laktoschi. They asked to heat up two separate portions, but they brought all the dumplings in one plate for four, still cold filling. The selection of dishes is small, the communication style of the administration was impressive. 32 euros for 10 dumplings...sorry, but they are not worth that money. I don't know who cooks there, but it can't be presented as Ukrainian cuisine, because it's a shame. First, it was necessary to organize a tasting evening among Ukrainians and assess whether it is possible to present such dishes as dishes of our country. Thanks at least to the administration for not including the dumplings in the check. At the end, the waiter apologized, said that the dish was not very good and they would remove it from the menu. It's not about the food, but how it's cooked.

I've been there once, in general everything is nice and good. But the food is very expensive and there is very little food. It doesn't look like Ukrainian cuisine. Rednecks

Trendy Ukrainian food, looked great and tasted awesome. Just like the wines. It’s a shared dining experience, so you order several options to share, which I loved. Personnel (majority Ukrainian) is great, super friendly and professional.

Pros: I liked that the menu was authentically Ukrainian having many dishes that I was growing up with in Lviv and less (or even none) of the soviet nonsense stuff. The highlight for me was the smalets. It was very good quality, which is not easy to find even in Ukraine sometimes. I woud serve it with a bit different bread though, like darker more solid bread. I also really liked the makivnyk dessert. Really brought me back home. The personnel was nice and spoke good Ukrainian which is always a pleasant add on :) Cons: limited menu options. Only one type of varenyky available. (in the video to het parool the owner mentioned cherry varenyky which I would love, but they were not on the menu) . Portions are really small for a main. It was more like a tapas size (5 dumplings per portion). Almost no choice of alcohol free drinks. It would be nice to have kompot, uzvar, kvas, traditional Ukrainian kombucha! or something like this. If you do drink alcohol they had nice beer options, even the one from my hometown brewery. Overall I think this place has lots of potential. I can imagine that starting up a restaurant like this must be really hard and I really looking forward to coming back when there are a bit more options on the menu. Thank you for the experience :)

I came here with a lot of excitement, but left disappointed and unsatisfied. The menu choice was awfully limited and the portion size ridiculously meagre for the category of dish. I chose a main of varenyky, which cost €15.50, and received only five little varenyky. Although they were tasty, I honestly felt like I had been conned by what I was (not) getting for my money.

Ik kwam hier vroeger graag. Helaas is de kaart tegenwoordig redelijk beperkt. Extreem kleine gerechtjes tegen woeker prijzen. Zijn na een voorgerechtje maar vertrokken, want de gerechten die de andere tafels geserveerd kregen beloofde niet veel goeds… €42 mogen aftikken voor 2 drankjes, 6 oesters en een stukje brood. Arrived for a lovely summers night and it was splendid. Great vibe in a quiet neighborhood. The wine selection was vast and the food was delicious. Be mindful of the servings they are kind of on the smaller side so ideal if you have had a big lunch.

We recently attended a wine tasting evening at Alex + Pienard, and while we were initially excited, the overall experience fell short of our expectations. The quality of the food was disappointing. The dishes lacked flavor and didn't meet our taste preferences. Additionally, the portion sizes were smaller than anticipated, leaving us wanting more. This diminished our enjoyment of the evening. The price-quality ratio was disappointing. We felt that the cost of the event did not match the value we received. The food was underwhelming, and the portions were smaller than expected. The use of mainly inexpensive ingredients was noticeable, and unfortunately, they were not executed as well as we had hoped. As a result, we left feeling dissatisfied with our experience. When we detected a soapy flavor in one of the cocktails, we promptly notified the waiter. Unfortunately, instead of resolving the problem, the waiter took a sip from the drink and returned it to me without addressing the issue. This raised concerns about cleanliness and hygiene practices at the establishment. Adding to our dissatisfaction, we were provided with only one set of cutlery for the entire evening, which meant placing it on the dirty table between dishes. While the wine itself was enjoyable, the overall experience at Alex + Pienard left us dissatisfied. The disappointing food quality, small portions, unsatisfactory price-quality ratio, and encountered hygiene issues were disappointing. We hope that the establishment takes these concerns seriously and makes the necessary improvements for the satisfaction of future diners.

A great place for a good dinner in cozy atmosphere. The food is incredibly good! Great place if you are vegan/vegetarian, but also if you’re not. Not so touristy, so that gives it a clear five star rating 😉

The food was good - the smoked beets, trout and yellowtail were our favorites. Staff was friendly but had a difficult time recommending/describing the bottled wines which is odd for a wine bar. The wine list wasn't short but variety was limited which was disappointing.

Elevated dutch cuisine and wine pairing. This is a place full of character and personality. The staff is knowledgeable about what the chef creates and they let you know what you are about to eat and the inspiration behind it. Congratulations to the chef. They know what they are doing and it’s great! Budget moderate-high but worth the price.
