Anne&Max Leiden in Binnenstad-Zuid

Even though A&M is a larger coffee chain, the A&M in Leiden feels like a cozy living room. The staff are very friendly, and the service has a personal touch. The coffee is delicious; we've been coming here happily for many years!

I had a voucher from social deal but there was incorrect information on the deal so I actually paid twice and what I paid was not worth it at all

We ended up here through Social Deal. We opted for the deluxe lunch, which was delicious and plentiful. The bread, soup, egg, salad, and homemade dips were beautifully presented and delicious. The service was super friendly and fast. We'll definitely be back, as the varied menu promises plenty of other tasty options.

We often visit Anne & Max locations, and this one was excellent. The coffee is good, but the pastries were a bit dry. The play corner for our toddler was a big plus. Addition: the coffee/cappuccino was almost boiling hot. In my opinion, way too hot. But it happens!

This afternoon I aired here with my family, super delicious. We were helped by Cheyenne (if I was right) what a professionalism she knows how to deal with customers.

I went here with my grandma, we thought it was a really nice place in the middle of Leiden! It had a nice atmosphere and you can see what's going on outside! We both ordered something to drink and something to eat. I had a pure choc (see photo) and a foccacia chicken with a small soup. I thought it was all really delicious :D definitely recommended! My grandma had a cappuccino and a foccacia tosti with a small soup, she thought the cappuccino was really tasty and at the right temperature & she really enjoyed the tosti with soup too! The staff was very friendly and it was also clear that there was a good, cozy but at the same time serious atmosphere. My grandma & I are sure. A second time is definitely in the cards! Thank you very much :)

Had lunch here today, nice place ....but that's all. Ordered a homemade ice tea with mint and lemon. This was okay, just had to wait a long time for it. Both had a super club. 3 sandwiches with 2 slices of chicken fillet, slice of bacon and some tomatoes and rocket. And a handful of chips on the side. €14.75 per sandwich!!! No more Anne and Max for us.

Good coffee, but my lunch dish was disappointing. The bowl with seasonal vegetables, hummus, yogurt and scrambled eggs was not what I expected. The seasonal vegetables were arugula and some small pieces of tomato. The hummus was spread in a thin layer on the bowl, no pimenton. For the price of 13 euros you can expect more.

Lovely coffee shop on a corner with a view. Some toys available for kids, which is a nice addition. Enjoyed a delicious vegan sandwich as well as choco. Love that they give a discount for oat milk!

Took a very long time and had to ask if we could order something. The sandwiches (chicken club sandwich) were 3dht disappointing. 3 small slices of bread with scant toppings for the main prize. I rarely have such a bad club sandwich :( Table was dirty. I'll never come back here again.

Disappointment, service was mediocre, it took a long time before we were helped, the used plates and glasses were not collected. I thought the place had a bit of a dingy appearance because of the stains on the walls and floor.

Very disappointing place. The breakfast was expensive, tasteless, and almost nothing was in the plate. There is some amazing bakeries around, just gor for one of these instead. This has been the most disappointing place we have been to during our whole stay in the Netherlands..

I took a winter bowl ( a bit of dehydrated salad and some traces of vegetables with a bit of sauce) and a tasteless infusion ( cinnamon, anis..). I think it's a nice spot to have a coffee break and nothing more.

I regularly have breakfast/lunch at Anne&Max. I walk away with every lesson feeling satisfied. For those who have never been there: highly recommended!

It's a cafe with polite staff and a nice atmosphere. I'll come again, just I don't think I'll eat the chocolate-caramel cake again. It didn't quite suit my taste.

Very noisy and packed. Silly plates, mostly sandwiches and cakes, no real hefty dishes.

Ordered via the QR code... 15 minutes later nothing and it wasn't even that busy. When I looked around, an employee looked at me questioningly. I decided to wait a little longer and then she came to me. Or “coffee x from table y was my order?”. Well, I'm sitting at table y, so yes? Then she went to see why the order was still there. Well, okay. Thank you for doing that then? 10 minutes later I got a drink that didn't even resemble what I ordered. It wasn't bad, not that, quite tasty. But it was missing the syrup mentioned with the coffee and it contained a random cookie that didn't even resemble the cookie crumbs in the photo. Now I didn't feel like complaining and at this point I just wanted to go home, but it was extremely disappointing. Not worth the money at all. :/

Fantastically located at the nicest intersection of Leiden with the tastiest espresso in the key city - fantastic aroma, with lots of fresh fruit. The Annen and Maxen have a warm eye for their guests. Highly recommended!

Anne&Max café was a major disappointment and is one of the reasons why we don’t bother eating out in the Netherlands. The food was shockingly overpriced for what we received—bland, uninspired dishes that felt like they were prepared with minimal effort. I was hoping for a pleasant café experience, but instead, we were served meals that lacked flavor, creativity, and any sense of value. It's frustrating to spend good money on food that doesn't even come close to what you could make at home. Unfortunately, Anne&Max is a perfect example of why dining out in this country is often not worth it. I ordered the Dream croissant and paid 10 euros. What came is a small croissant, so small it for on a 150 diameter side plate. The scrambled eggs had no seasoning and it the smoked salmon were just flakes. On top of that there was ketchup on the croissant. I wish I had taken a photo. Don’t go there go to Mamie Gourmand just down the street and get two authentically French croissants and a coffee to go and sit on the bench along the canal.

I have been visiting Anne & Max in Leiden for years. This time I took out my laptop and was told that I can only use the laptop from a stool at one of the bars. I am in my late 60s and told them that I can't use the stool due to a bad back. I was told that this time only I could use the laptop at a low table. You have just made a policy that harms older people.

Great coffee and banana cake outside on the terrace, just steps from the great Saturday market on the canals. Great coffee, cake very dry, you didn't have to pay for it!

Nice place. As with every Anne&Max, delicious fresh food. And a pleasant 'cosy' atmosphere. At the Mall you can choose sizes of coffee and brown or white bread, but you don't have this here. So that was less. We were very late in the afternoon, so that must be the reason.

The coffee was good, but they brought half of our order. We went to tell them multiple times a coffee was missing. After 40 minutes I got my flat white with some apologies. I had high expectations and it was such a disappointment

We got the Apple cake, scones and coffee. This review is not about the food. The menu was adjusted for the Marathon. My partner got a half of biscuit with her Latte. The “ijscappuccino” was a disaster. What I think a small glass of fridge coffee. Or change the name. The rest of the order was okay. The view of the participants was perfect.

When you enter you are not greeted and staff shuffle around with their eyes on the floor, unlike other places in Leiden they all speak Dutch but otherwise they are unsuitable. You have to order via the app, but what was in there did not match the menu on the table. When we started asking how and what, a more experienced person came along, but we got a big mouth... we were last there a year ago, we thought we would give them another chance, but we are now really done with this tent.

Reasonable. It was pleasantly busy, nice decor and nice building. Dishes from the previous guests were still on the table. As I often read in the reviews, the bread with the vegetarian omelette and sandwich is indeed an ordinary slice of supermarket bread. The children liked the sandwich. Scone was really small and dry, and the clotted cream and lemon curd were not that exciting. Service did not come by after serving. Ok, but could be better, especially for the price.

Nice coffee and lunch. Furthermore, the staff is hospitable and pleasant. There are plenty of options if you are vegetarian, vegan or have an allergy.

Handy location with great views over the canal and for people watching. Genuine and spontaneous staff and the best chai latte I've ever had. They also have incredibly tasty banana bread and good toasted sandwiches

The quality of the food was really disappointing for the price. Two normal slices of bread (not toasted), slices of chicken fillet, tomato, a little bit of arugula and curry mayonnaise. And a bowl of chips. Before 2.50 pm. Everything from a bag, but then stacked, has nothing to do with fresh food, especially for such a price! The service was excellent by the way.

Keep coming there because of the nice place. The food is often tasty, but could be better (especially for their prices 😮‍💨). The service is always really bad unfortunately, you often have to wait so long that you just walk to the counter. The toilets are always pretty gross too. Last week I had lunch with Anne and Max. This was very tasty, we ordered the lunch plank. The shelf was well stocked and it was indicated that we could always order extra bread, etc. free of charge. Staff was also very nice.

Had to wait a very long time for a much too expensive focaccia. It was cold and chewy.

Never had such a bad Matcha Latte before. The dosage of the Matcha was extremely strong, no latte art and there were large lumps of Matcha powder in it. I had filed a complaint, but there was no real response. It's that I was in a hurry so I couldn't return it, but I will never come back here again. How bad! A world of difference with the branch in Utrecht, at least they provide good service there. For the service, the branch in Leiden is really not worth the price you pay.

Ordered Sloppy Joe, which had too much cheese and hardly any minced meat with tomato sauce and lentils. Sandwich also does not match the picture online, which mentions rich instead of sparing sauce? I really feel ripped off for the price. Too bad, because I have enjoyed having breakfast there in the past in Amsterdam. They will never see me here again.

I always like coming to Anne & Max because of the nice menu with special teas, tasty juices and other funny drinks such as the 'today-I'm-staying-in-choco'. Today we came for lunch with six people. Because we had something to celebrate, almost the entire table opted for the extensive lunch platter at €18.50 per person, but unfortunately I found this very disappointing. The 'focaccia cheese stick' is a thin strip of dry focaccia and the 'different types of bread' was half a white sandwich and half a brown sandwich per person. And not that thick, freshly baked special bread, but it just looked like a slice from the supermarket. I think one sandwich per person is very poor for such an expensive lunch platter. The soup was tasty but very little, and in terms of toppings you really got a tiny slice of cheese and chicken fillet, and two very small bowls of 'dips' that were honestly just not tasty. The salad was a small bowl filled mainly with arugula and spinach, three tomatoes and a scoop of julienne beets, which we had to share with three people. You were given the choice between 'scrambled egg bacon' and 'scrambled egg salmon', but strangely enough the salmon was served without the scrambled eggs: you only got a bowl with a tablespoon of salmon. All in all, it was not the festive, special lunch we were hoping for for this price and we were still hungry afterwards. It also took a long time for our lunch to arrive, but I can imagine that because there were six of us. Furthermore, the acoustics in the room were not good and it was difficult to hear each other. The staff was otherwise friendly, but I don't think I'll be coming back here for lunch anytime soon :(.

Vrij chaotische bediening. Waarschijnlijk veel studenten. Je moet vooral lang met een vragend gezicht om je heen kijken om bediend te worden. Daarna duurt het erg lang om een simpel kopje koffie te krijgen. Dit was niet de eerste keer dat mij dit overkwam. De zaak mist leiding Jammer want de zaak heeft wel een leuke sfeer.

Espresso was te koud, zagen dat deze al even klaar stond maar niet werd gebracht. We wezen hierop maar er werd geen nieuwe gebracht. Mocht hij te koud zijn dan moesten we dit maar melden....

Gezellige sfeer. Gezinnen met kinderen vanwege de optocht van sinterklass daardoor super druk. Vriendelijk bediening. Lekker eten. Vlakbij de markt met uitzicht op de kraampjes.
