Full of English stoned folks....but ...the menu s are clean....and the food is good...and you can sit on the water! ..

Good food and lovely staff. The occasional busy bike path in the middle of the square was a bit of a distraction when dining, but this is Amsterdam. I highly recommend it, maybe it's not worth getting a table right on the side of the road 😄

I have visited Amsterdam 7 times , every single time I call to Aran , staff is super friendly, food is great, the pub has a fantastic atmosphere and I always felt safe there , is so nice to comeback and get the welcome from some familiar faces now , looking forward to visit again

Ordered a sausage sandwich 11 euros, got a dry brown bread role with 5 mini poor quality sausages, no garnish, no dressing, no butter, dry bread and protein, very poor super disappointing.

We had to wait a very long time outside for service. After ordering, it also took a long time for the drinks to arrive...it wasn't even that busy...strange...we moved on after just one drink...

We stopped here for a quick snack so we chose the Irish Breakfast which was quite a lot and pricely the best on the menu.

Very nice pub on the canal. They show sports events. We paid €30 for three 0.5-liter beers. The beer menu didn't list prices (definitely too high; I've never paid €10 for a beer, not even in America).

I ordered a coffee with oat milk, but it was clearly made with dairy milk. When I raised the issue, instead of properly checking, they briefly looked at it with a straw and insisted it was oat milk. Both my friend and I are certain it was dairy. As someone who has been vegan for 5 years, I can confidently tell the difference. This was not only disappointing but also concerning. I wouldn’t recommend this place, especially if you have dietary requirements.

Absolutely terrible service and extremely rude staff. I came here with family for a few drinks and ordered a latte with oat milk as I have a severe allergy to dairy. When it first arrived it arrived with normal milk and the waitress admitted to making the mistake. When they bought out a new drink, i took a sip and it did not taste like oat milk. It had a strong taste of dairy and a couple of my family members took a sip to double check - all of whom agreed. When I made the staff aware, I was faced with extreme attitude - particularly from the lady with blonde hair and a nose piercings. I very politely told her that even if it was oat milk, I did not want to risk it and did not want another version made. She argued with me to tell me it was oat milk, and very rudely grabbed the drinks and rolled her eyes before walking off. If you have an allergy, I would not recommend this place. Nothing about it was pleasant.

Food is oberpriced and not great. The fries has avsolutely no seasoning and the tiny side salad for 5€ was a impertinence. Toilets very dirty and broken.

This bar’s service is horrible. They have online football streaming service that doesn’t work. Must be illegal even? Outrageous to pay 5€ for a beer and not being able to watch football properly.

We arrived at 7 PM and saw that there were tables available! The game was on, the waiters looked at us and continued to finish their conversation about the game without serving us! We left!

Stay away from this pub if you are non european, i visited 5 sunday april 2026 after 6pm, asked for guiness and wings they delivered wrong order and refuse to refund. No smiles no customer service grimaced faces made me feel uncomfortable. I took photos and have filed a police investigation with amsterdam police. I ask for manager name to resolve he refuse so i explain i will cancel my bank transaction. They simply are racist, i visited the chicken dinner 2 shops down, a staff team of arab black and chinese confirmed they are not welcome in irish pub when they have attended. Its 2026 and people still have racist attituded which is stupid. I have courage to showcase this terrible experience for justice and for the managerment and staff to be investigated. It is not acceptable !!!!

A good Irish bar where I has a few pints, easy stop off near Vondelpark. It was pretty quite and good service when I was there. As an Irish person the Guinness wasn't the best but it was drinkable, a new person liked it. Would recommend.

We went for a beer and the experience was fairly average. The place is very well located, in a central area, which is convenient. However, we found the price quite high for what is just a beer. I understand that you're paying for the location, but it's still expensive. Overall, the location is good, but the price doesn't really make up for it.

Overall - just very average pub bordering less than average. The service is not great but not bad. I do think they were understaffed on the patio on one of the first beautiful sunny days in amsterdam in weeks. The food - I wanted the soup of the day tomato, which was written on the board but was quickly told it’s carrot today not tomato and it’s an outdated board. Okay. The drinks are exactly what they are. Nothing out of this world. A large pepsi was €8 and the glass in my personal opinion was not worth the €8 at all. I ordered the brie cheese walnut salad and my friend the Caesar salad. Croutons in the caesar were DRENCHED in oil, they looked totally yellow and tasted like melted oil. My salad with the brie came undressed. Just some brie and walnuts and honey, the leaves were completely dry and had nothing on them for €17.50…. I asked for dressing and was given malt vinegar. At least the vinegar made it edible and not just like i’m a rabbit eating raw unseasoned vegetables, but it could’ve been balsamic at least. The only thing that was throughly enjoyed was the very chilled bottle of white wine and the sun on the patio that day. Don’t think we will ever be back.

Some Irish pubs offer decent food. That's not the case here. The food is bland, and you might wonder if some of the dishes are frozen. But the atmosphere is friendly. This bar is often packed, and you have to push your way through the crowd to get to the bar to order your beer. In short, it's a place to go for a good beer in a noisy and friendly atmosphere (rather than for gourmet food).

Out if all the Irish pubs in Amsterdam this is the most disappointing that serves food. The few times Ive been, the guinness was so watery, very little taste, among the worst in amsterdam. Went for Christmas day dinner, they forgot our food, we were well over an hour waiting to get served. Finally got served, for the price we paid there wasn't much on the plate, some of it was cold. Any time we ordered drinks, it took 15 to 20 minutes. I've heard the breakfast is nice here but I haven't tried. Also once I phoned to make a reservation and the guy answering the phone answered as if I was his homie calling, really bizarre behavior. Overall it's very disappointing for an Irish bar.

I recently visited Aran Irish Pub and, unfortunately, it was disappointing. My experience started with the latte macchiato, which was served in a coffee glass. To my disappointment, it didn't really taste like a latte, which didn't live up to expectations. Additionally, I ordered the bread with garlic butter but received only a small piece. The amount of butter served with it was overwhelming, making the proportions completely off. When I pointed this out to the staff, I got the impression that my feedback wasn't really taken seriously. To my surprise, an extra three euros was charged for additional bread, which I found to be an unreasonable demand. All in all, the service was disappointing and the food was not what I had hoped for. I would not recommend this restaurant if you are looking for a good coffee experience and pleasant service.

Nice pub for a drink right on the canal but service could really use some help. Slower than a snail. If you're in any sort of hurry don't bother.

Average pub restaurant for watching games. The service is average, as is the food. The prices are quite high. The environment is quite noisy and the space is narrow.

Don’t expect an honest pint here. The menu says a pint and what you get is 0,5 ml. Overpriced with horrible inattentive service. Be prepared to be ignored here, especially if you point out their mistakes.

We had our Christmas dinner here and it was perfect.

Visited for the first time yesterday, having walked past it a million times. 😅 The Guinness stew is highly recommended. The bar staff is very friendly and the atmosphere exudes hospitality. So I'll definitely be seeing a "local" there more often.

We visited this place called Aran right in the heart of Amsterdam last week. I was there with a group of friends, and we were basically wandering around looking for somewhere to watch a Champions League match and we stumbled upon this traditional Irish pub right next to the Hard Rock Café, so basically smack in the middle of Amsterdam’s center. We walked in about half an hour before the match started, no reservation or anything, and we just asked if they’d put the game on for us. They were kind enough to pick one of their many screens and tune it to the match we wanted to see. There was room for us, they let us choose a table and we settled in to watch the match. So, what can I say about Arran? It’s your typical Irish pub vibe. The beers are the usual suspects: you can get a Kilkenny, which you don’t find everywhere in the Netherlands, plus some local beers, and of course Guinness and other classic Irish brews. Service-wise, it was okay no one was rude at all, but there wasn’t any particularly warm or attentive customer service. It’s the kind of place that’s probably used to a lot of tourists, so it’s a solid choice if you’re an English speaker who wants to feel at home for a few hours in Amsterdam. But it’s not going to win any awards for hospitality. I’d give the service about three out of five, not amazing, but certainly not bad. As for the food, same deal: I had a burger, someone else had a sausage, we shared some nachos, had a brownie. It was all perfectly fine but not memorable. Nothing that would make me rush back just for the food, but also nothing terrible. It’s your standard pub grub, no more, no less. The atmosphere is exactly what you’d expect from an Irish pub in central Amsterdam. Not super cozy, but it delivers that typical English-Irish pub feel. By the end of the evening, we spent about 60 euros per person, including snacks, a burger, and a few beers each. That’s pretty much in line with Amsterdam’s rather high prices nowadays. In summary, it’s an absolutely average place. I’m not dying to go back, but I wouldn’t avoid it either. They put on the game we wanted, we had a good time, and if I happen to need a pub for a match in the center again, it’s not my first choice, but it’s not off the list.

We had a mingern drink which they didn’t want to refund us we had one sip which was clear we didn’t enjoy it. we still had to pay the full amount. wouldn’t recommend

Staff struggle to serve, pint of Guinness 9.50. save yourself the hassle and go to molly Malone's instead.

Cant pay seperatly , Food is overpriced, They dont have the items available, that Are mentioned on the menu. They let you pay before you even get your food. I wouldnt come here again.

Needed to find the NFL Packers game while traveling. Asked one of the waiters if they show NFL and they found the game, set us up in a part of the bar for NFL fans. We had great service, awesome bangers and mash, drinks hit the spot, many times.

I had just walked from an airport hotel to see about doing an afternoon canal cruise. I seriously needed a beer and this was exactly the right place. Got some more local craft type beer in a lovely little pub like place.

My friend Fiona and I visited Amsterdam for 3 days we had a great time. We had a full Irish breakfast and on our last night we had lots of lovely drinks.

Lovely food and outside seating!

I saw this Irish pub and had to stop. The drinks were cold and the view along the canal was beautiful. The fish and chips were lacking though as the fish looked uniform and didn’t appear fresh battered. Service was great.

Service was snail-paced. You had to ask if you could order something. The entire place didn't make a clean impression. Tip: go to O'Reilly's Pup instead. Better service, nicer atmosphere.

Drinks were brought quickly, but the two sandwiches we ordered took almost 40 minutes to arrive. The sandwiches were dry, hard, and without the sauce, definitely not worth the money...

The servers were very friendly and quick. The interior design was nice. It was one of the few places open at night for a hot drink.

I visited here back in 2022 so wanted to visit again with my family. We just had drinks. Lovely place to sit with plenty of seats outside. Toilets were clean. Took a while to get served but when we did the girl who served us was lovely. I would visit again.

One of the best Irish pubs in Amsterdam (in my opinion). A very inviting atmosphere, very clean. A very nice bar area, with a cheerful, highly dedicated, and friendly staff. The Guinness tasted excellent, served at just the right temperature, and perfectly poured! In addition to the very bright and friendly interior, there's also a large terrace area, right on the canal and next to the Hard Rock Café. We really enjoyed it there.

After a boat tour, we spontaneously stopped in here and had a bite to eat! We ordered the soup of the day, tea, a coke, and a portion of fries! The drinks came quickly, and the food didn't take long either! What I personally liked was that you pay immediately after ordering, so you don't have to wait or wave down the waiter to pay! You can just leave! But I did find one major drawback... the men's restroom wasn't clean, or one guest wasn't behaving well. Anyway, the atmosphere was great, the service was good, and the prices were reasonable!✌️

I can never resist an Irish pub, so when I spied bar Aran on the Singelgracht I made a bee-line straight for it. Amazing double terrace - one side in the shade of Max Euweplein and one overlooking the canal in the sunshine. Typical pricing for the centre of the city. Guinness was decent and the Heineken was cold. Nice staff. Crazy selection of Jameson on the shelf.

Nice food and beer, staff were friendly and good to chat to. Plenty of screens to watch sports on with commentary in one side of the bar and music in the other side, plus a large outdoor area.

Came just to have a drink, sit and kick my feet up and people watch. Can’t rate the food as I didn’t eat, grabbed a seat outside and was promptly served no tab you pay upfront . I paid 7euro for a cider and came out quick .

Great place and great view on to the river. We had a lovely lunch there (BLT sandwich and a burger). Sunshine and great vibes. Fantastic find.

While the outdoor seating was a nice attraction, I truly wish the food and customer service had been better. The dishes lacked flavor, and the beef croquette balls were especially disappointing—mushy and unpleasant. When I asked to exchange them, the response from the taller waiter with dark hair was dismissive, stating I’d still have to pay. Our original server, who had noticeable tattoos, never introduced himself and seemed unwilling to engage. After that, no one returned to our table for over 30 minutes to check if we needed anything else. Unfortunately, this was a very poor experience for a tourist spot.

I was walking around in Amsterdam and found this place and decided to give it a try because it looked like it had nice vibes and had a seat for a couple of hours: 1- The atmosphere was so nice. 2- The place was really nice and the employees were friendly. 3- Prices are fair. 4- The view from the pub is amazing where you can spend hours without even noticing. If you are in amsterdam and looking for a pub to have a quick bite or a drink. You have to give this place a try and your will not regret it.
