We visited this place called Aran right in the heart of Amsterdam last week. I was there with a group of friends, and we were basically wandering around looking for somewhere to watch a Champions League match and we stumbled upon this traditional Irish pub right next to the Hard Rock Café, so basically smack in the middle of Amsterdam’s center. We walked in about half an hour before the match started, no reservation or anything, and we just asked if they’d put the game on for us. They were kind enough to pick one of their many screens and tune it to the match we wanted to see. There was room for us, they let us choose a table and we settled in to watch the match. So, what can I say about Arran? It’s your typical Irish pub vibe. The beers are the usual suspects: you can get a Kilkenny, which you don’t find everywhere in the Netherlands, plus some local beers, and of course Guinness and other classic Irish brews. Service-wise, it was okay no one was rude at all, but there wasn’t any particularly warm or attentive customer service. It’s the kind of place that’s probably used to a lot of tourists, so it’s a solid choice if you’re an English speaker who wants to feel at home for a few hours in Amsterdam. But it’s not going to win any awards for hospitality. I’d give the service about three out of five, not amazing, but certainly not bad. As for the food, same deal: I had a burger, someone else had a sausage, we shared some nachos, had a brownie. It was all perfectly fine but not memorable. Nothing that would make me rush back just for the food, but also nothing terrible. It’s your standard pub grub, no more, no less. The atmosphere is exactly what you’d expect from an Irish pub in central Amsterdam. Not super cozy, but it delivers that typical English-Irish pub feel. By the end of the evening, we spent about 60 euros per person, including snacks, a burger, and a few beers each. That’s pretty much in line with Amsterdam’s rather high prices nowadays. In summary, it’s an absolutely average place. I’m not dying to go back, but I wouldn’t avoid it either. They put on the game we wanted, we had a good time, and if I happen to need a pub for a match in the center again, it’s not my first choice, but it’s not off the list.

We had a mingern drink which they didn’t want to refund us we had one sip which was clear we didn’t enjoy it. we still had to pay the full amount. wouldn’t recommend

Staff struggle to serve, pint of Guinness 9.50. save yourself the hassle and go to molly Malone's instead.

The beer and steak were excellent. No croutons. ( The gnats at my table were bothering me.

Cant pay seperatly , Food is overpriced, They dont have the items available, that Are mentioned on the menu. They let you pay before you even get your food. I wouldnt come here again.

We had a drink. It was relaxed here, and you can stop for a quick bite, although it's not exactly cheap.

End of our European vacation, we wanted something familiar and Aran Irish Pub was it! Good food, great atmosphere and we loved the music. Sounded like someone dusted off an old mix tape!

Needed to find the NFL Packers game while traveling. Asked one of the waiters if they show NFL and they found the game, set us up in a part of the bar for NFL fans. We had great service, awesome bangers and mash, drinks hit the spot, many times.

My friend Fiona and I visited Amsterdam for 3 days we had a great time. We had a full Irish breakfast and on our last night we had lots of lovely drinks.

I had just walked from an airport hotel to see about doing an afternoon canal cruise. I seriously needed a beer and this was exactly the right place. Got some more local craft type beer in a lovely little pub like place.

Lovely food and outside seating!

I saw this Irish pub and had to stop. The drinks were cold and the view along the canal was beautiful. The fish and chips were lacking though as the fish looked uniform and didn’t appear fresh battered. Service was great.

Service was snail-paced. You had to ask if you could order something. The entire place didn't make a clean impression. Tip: go to O'Reilly's Pup instead. Better service, nicer atmosphere.

Never seen a bar tender struggle making a gin and tonic before.

Drinks were brought quickly, but the two sandwiches we ordered took almost 40 minutes to arrive. The sandwiches were dry, hard, and without the sauce, definitely not worth the money...

The servers were very friendly and quick. The interior design was nice. It was one of the few places open at night for a hot drink.

I visited here back in 2022 so wanted to visit again with my family. We just had drinks. Lovely place to sit with plenty of seats outside. Toilets were clean. Took a while to get served but when we did the girl who served us was lovely. I would visit again.

One of the best Irish pubs in Amsterdam (in my opinion). A very inviting atmosphere, very clean. A very nice bar area, with a cheerful, highly dedicated, and friendly staff. The Guinness tasted excellent, served at just the right temperature, and perfectly poured! In addition to the very bright and friendly interior, there's also a large terrace area, right on the canal and next to the Hard Rock Café. We really enjoyed it there.

Different taste of beers. Also wonder sightseeing if you find table near the river.

After a boat tour, we spontaneously stopped in here and had a bite to eat! We ordered the soup of the day, tea, a coke, and a portion of fries! The drinks came quickly, and the food didn't take long either! What I personally liked was that you pay immediately after ordering, so you don't have to wait or wave down the waiter to pay! You can just leave! But I did find one major drawback... the men's restroom wasn't clean, or one guest wasn't behaving well. Anyway, the atmosphere was great, the service was good, and the prices were reasonable!✌️

I can never resist an Irish pub, so when I spied bar Aran on the Singelgracht I made a bee-line straight for it. Amazing double terrace - one side in the shade of Max Euweplein and one overlooking the canal in the sunshine. Typical pricing for the centre of the city. Guinness was decent and the Heineken was cold. Nice staff. Crazy selection of Jameson on the shelf.

Nice food and beer, staff were friendly and good to chat to. Plenty of screens to watch sports on with commentary in one side of the bar and music in the other side, plus a large outdoor area.

Came just to have a drink, sit and kick my feet up and people watch. Can’t rate the food as I didn’t eat, grabbed a seat outside and was promptly served no tab you pay upfront . I paid 7euro for a cider and came out quick .

Great place and great view on to the river. We had a lovely lunch there (BLT sandwich and a burger). Sunshine and great vibes. Fantastic find.

While the outdoor seating was a nice attraction, I truly wish the food and customer service had been better. The dishes lacked flavor, and the beef croquette balls were especially disappointing—mushy and unpleasant. When I asked to exchange them, the response from the taller waiter with dark hair was dismissive, stating I’d still have to pay. Our original server, who had noticeable tattoos, never introduced himself and seemed unwilling to engage. After that, no one returned to our table for over 30 minutes to check if we needed anything else. Unfortunately, this was a very poor experience for a tourist spot.

Not what it used to be, Came in with my family and after waiting 15 minutes to order, the waiter joked that he forgot we had come in! Waited a father 5 minutes for a knife and fork!!

I was walking around in Amsterdam and found this place and decided to give it a try because it looked like it had nice vibes and had a seat for a couple of hours: 1- The atmosphere was so nice. 2- The place was really nice and the employees were friendly. 3- Prices are fair. 4- The view from the pub is amazing where you can spend hours without even noticing. If you are in amsterdam and looking for a pub to have a quick bite or a drink. You have to give this place a try and your will not regret it.

The bear was good but don't order any food.

We went in for a brunch - tried their breakfast special. The portion is ok, but I don’t really like it. They offer “pudding” and it’s not what I think a pudding is. Pudding here is meat/sausage. They offered a vegetarian breakfast too… it’s probably the eggs, mushroom and roasted tomatoes. I probably should try to go for lunch or dinner and try their other menu items. Breakfast is probably not their specialty or strong offering. One upside; if you want to sit outside, they have tables next to the canal, so it’s probably great to sit outside when the weather is nice.

Nice place but service was bad, extremely slow. On my first visit we have waited outside and were ignored. They asked us to wait, and had to go inside to find someone to serve us a dring. On a second day they confused orders and after that for a 25min we didn't get our coffies. They reacted after few reminders positive. Inside it looks great, but dull.

We are informed that there is no longer any Guinness on tap, and that only 50cl cans are available, no problem that can happen, however these are billed more expensive than the taps, namely 11€ per can, a discount rather than an increase would have been in order 😬 Too bad because the location of the bar is nice on the edge of the canal and very sunny

Why didn’t I read these reviews before eating here! Firstly they get you in on the Specials Board. €18.50 for a Guinness Stew FFS but decided to give it a try. Worst decision ever made! Garlic bread….comes out as normal loaf and you have to put your own garlic butter into it! I ordered the Guinness Stew only to be told sold out - take it off the damn black board then FFS! Daughter order the €20.50 fish and chips….honestly this was frozen Aldi fish whacked in the air fryer….sorry to Aldi as theres is probably better!! I asked what fish it was and she said it was cod 🤣. It was over cooked rubber and I asked her to tell the chef. She never came back and I paid the bill. No offer of apologies…..nothing. The irony of it all was there was a sign on the window saying ‘Chef Wanted’…..enough said. I have been to many Irish Pubs around the world and this is a disgrace. DO NOT EAT HERE EVER…..you have been warned!

My god what a terrible place rude people will never come back

On King's Day, I ordered a Guineas pint and a Rosé in the evening... my surprise... the beer tip was 2.50 more expensive than normal and was also served in a plastic glass that clearly contains less than normal... the rosé was very little... and the price of 19.20 is outrageous!!

really expensive for what you get. One glass of wine for 7.20 euros. And a beer for 12 euros.

La cameriera dopo la nostra richiesta non ha voluto nemmeno portarci il conto.... E non è che avessimo poi mangiato bene. Italiani evitatelo!!! È un posto da crukki.

You come here for the atmosphere, not for the food (which is fine and typically Irish, the steak is really good) - and the atmosphere is unique (inside the place, of course). The service is Irish (a big plus), the music is pub-themed. I recommend!

Tomé un desayuno irlandés completo y mi marido pidió uno sin frijoles, hongos y tomate. Cuando llegó su plato era obvio que sin que se lo pidiéramos al chef le habíamos añadido más salchichas, pudín blanco y negro. El caballero que nos sirvió (un montón de tatuajes) era excepcionalmente educado y servicial. Sin duda volveríamos!

This Irish-style pub in the center of Amsterdam offers different types of beer and snacks to relax after your visit to the city. They have a very large terrace and tables inside so there is usually some free space.

Hahaha the food was hilarious. Luckily our irish waiter was nice but that was the only good thing about this place. The drinks were ridiculously expensive and the fish and chips were basically an oversized fishstick with the cheapest chips they could find and mayonaise mixed with some pickle cubes. Laughable. Sad to see that such a location chooses to serve such bad quality where they could easily choose to make something decent.

I recently visited Aran Irish Pub and unfortunately it was disappointing. My experience started with the latte macchiato, which was served in a coffee glass. To my disappointment, this one didn't really taste like a latte, which didn't live up to expectations. In addition, I ordered the bread with garlic butter, but only received a small piece of bread. The amount of butter served with it was overwhelming, making the ratio completely wrong. When I mentioned this to the staff, I got the impression that my feedback was not really taken seriously. To my surprise, an extra three euros was also charged for extra bread, which I thought was an unreasonable demand. All in all, the service was disappointing and the food not what I had hoped for. I would not recommend this restaurant if you are looking for a good coffee experience and pleasant service.

Excellent place to get some sunshine and gusiness stout. Perfect place to sit outdoor and catch a pint. Recommended.

Just had to walk out of there. Was furious with the rudeness of the staff and total lack of service. Waited 20 minutes or more to get table service for food and drink and they all ignored us. We eventually paid for the 2 drinks we had managed to get and told the waitress how angry we were with the lack of service. She did not apologise or even acknowledge there had been a problem. Awful service and not recommended.

We visited this pub specifically because they advertised showing the Six Nations rugby games. Unfortunately, our experience was far from satisfactory. Firstly, I spent the entire first half of the game alone on one of the terraces with a TV. Despite many staff members coming out to smoke, none bothered to inform me that it was bar service or offered to take my order. When we moved inside for the second half, my partner ordered a tea and asked for more hot water. The waitress responded with, "we don’t really do that." I had to request another cup of tea without the tea bag just to get more hot water, which was quite bizarre. The pub stopped showing the game 15 minutes before it ended because it was a clear win and switched to football instead. This was incredibly disappointing, especially since we came specifically to watch the rugby match. Additionally, the staff behaved as if they were alone, playing with the high chairs and not paying much attention to the customers. Overall, a very disappointing experience. We won't be returning for future games.

Guinness's don't like travel, they say. We took the Guinness and got the canned ones. If it's an Irkku pub, beer should come from the tap. That's why one less star.

Sit outside. It was perfect! Their selection of drinks was great, and it is wonderful to sit by the water and watch people go by on their canal tours.

We stopped here almost every day for a snack or breakfast. Hard to argue when you can relax and watch the city. The staff were very friendly, the food was delicious, and you can't go wrong with a coffee or Guinness. They are set up in a perfect spot to enjoy the bustle and canal traffic.

Nice pub nice staff. But someone should let them know that Champ is not just mashed potatoes. Not going to lie that was so disappointing.

Nice place with friendly and welcoming stuff. But the worst fish and chips in my life. It should be piece of fried fish, not fish mousse in half with water, fried in breadcrumbs and looking like a cutlet.

Popped in for a drink because I heard the music as I passed. I am so glad I did! Lovely atmosphere, absolutely INCREDIBLE live music and a decent selection of draught beers compared to other places nearby. Will deffo be back to try the food!

Great pub, the waiters are adorable and they opened the pool table for free. Hot chocolates are delicious and affordable for Amsterdam. The view upstairs is sublime. I recommend for all the reasons, the music is good for the final touch!
