Fun place, very friendly and very lively on a Saturday night.

I loved this place. Sitting in the beer garden we got a random street performance. I got the schnitzel and that was great.

Service was horrible. Tables were dirty. My husband went and got a cloth to wipe the table off.Waitress came to the table. “What do you want”. No hello. Not professional at all. We asked about items on the menu. Did not get a great explanation on what we were ordering. Definitely do not recommend. I think the waitress thought we were Americans. We are not. We are visiting from Canada. Service industry in Canada is much different we take pride in welcoming guests and marking them feel like they are at home. We also take pride in our appearance. Super disappointed. Will not come back.

A place with decent food, where you can go with friends for beers and laughs.

We liked the atmosphere while passing by on the tram, so we decided to go into one of the bars there, and that's what we ended up doing. However, the Aperol came in a wine glass and wasn't good. We also ordered a gin tonic, but I don't need to comment on that as it was standard. The prices were quite expensive, probably because it's a touristy place. It struck me as odd that the price of beer, gin tonic, or Aperol was the same.

Wonderful place to hang with friends, specially for the service, the tall blond guy with a mullet was super nice to us, very attentive and kind! We will come back for sure

Imanuel is an incredibile guy. The pub was so busy and he took time to give us beer and some snacks despite him not taking orders in general.

Nice place, but even for craft beer on tap, the beer isn't properly cold and lacks carbonation.

I came to eat at De Hoopman today and ordered quite a lot. The food was really mediocre, but the service more than made up for that today. I am very lonely. But thanks to the good service, I felt very happy, especially because of the nice, warm bartender with an amazing beard, and the young lad with those beautiful golden hairs.

Food was decent for a few snacks with some drinks. The service was just okay, you will have to chase down and flag the waiters each time you want to order or you will be ignored.

Nice decor, however, the staff did as little as possible. All the tables were dirty and sticky. It also took an incredibly long time before we could take our food order. We had to wait a long time ourselves to get someone's attention (we were sitting inside right by the passageway) to be able to order our food. At one point, a coaster was even thrown at me by an employee. My fish and chips was tasteless and so unfilling that we went to McDonald's afterwards. It might be nice for a drink, but absolutely not recommended for dining.

We received quick and friendly service. Prices were normal for a large city full of tourists.

I went to Hoopman at Leidseplein with my family for a quick beer before dinner at another restaurant nearby. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. The waiters didn’t seem attentive and we struggled to get service. After waiting for a while, I ended up going to the bar to order our beers myself. The manager appeared more engaged in a conversation with friends at another table than paying attention to customers. After finishing our drinks, I again had to go to the bar to pay (€34.50). We left, but when we were already around the corner, a young waitress came running after us because the manager believed we hadn’t paid. I felt sorry for her as it must have been uncomfortable and embarrassing to chase customers on the streets over something that could have been easily checked. I showed her the debit transaction on my bank app, and that resolved it. It was an awkward and disappointing experience. I hope they improve their customer attention and internal communication, because the location itself although very touristy, is nice for a casual drink.

Leidseplein is a square in the center of Amsterdam, Netherlands. Located in the southwest of the Grachtengordel district, it borders the Singer Canal to the northeast. Weteringschans, Marnixstraat, and Leidsestraat intersect here. Leidsestraat was originally the road leading to Leidne. It's a great place to enjoy a stroll through the city and then have a drink.

Came here with my brother and his boyfriend. Everything fine until my brother and his partner embraced / kissed and a bartender asked us to leave. No issues before this. Very upset with our experience.

visited here last month. had a very enjoyable couple of hours sitting at the bar with a few pints of very nice kilkenny red. great staff and a nice atmosphere.

A perfect pub in one of the prettiest little squares in the center. Sitting outside under the umbrellas with infrared lights, watching the ice rink and the people strolling by, is a real treat. The place offers excellent beers and a wide selection of food, including the Old Cheese and the traditional Dutch Bitterballen.

Hoopman is my absolute favorite bar, and where me and my friends meet for pints of Guinness, shots of Fireball, laughs, and good times. The El Jefe nachos are my go to, all of the bar staff are the best, super friendly, and the overall atmosphere of the bar is great ❤️

Irish pub true to its colors. The service is efficient, however we are pushed a little towards the exit when we have finished (we were there in the middle of the afternoon)

i went to this bar on 0/23/25, the bar man Brian is a good bar tender, had my food in no time and it was a burger and fries, and it was verry good the beer was cold, he is nice guy to chat with, this is a verry good pub to visit when in Amsterdam, i will be back,

We went to watch a soccer match. We had chicken sate, fish and chips, and vegetarian bitterballen and some drinks and other snacks. The food was okay, definitely nothing special. The crust on the fish and chips was soft, definitely nothing special straight out of a fryer. All the snack food was standard. Drinks were pretty good, a lot of options. Staff was very nice but there wasn’t much service. We were inside and went to the bar for all of our orders. Totally fine and they were happy to help but nobody came to us for any orders or anything. It is a sports bar, so they had the game on but it is quite loud so if you’re not there to watch maybe sit outside or farther from the bar area. Overall not bad. Perfectly pleasant. But could for sure be improved in some areas.

They used to have an amazing veggie burger which is hard to find in Amsterdam. It's been swapped for a €20 falafel burger—boring. Bring it back! Great pub though. Very gezellig.

No place for Rugby! The owner does not want to even do effort to see if a game is airing. "This is a place for beers, not sports"

At a table of seven, the same person was ignored over and over again. First, drinks weren't delivered, then food wasn't. Everyone ate and drank, and that one person was allowed to look at it. They then made you pay twice for the food and drinks you ordered. Service was nil. Not even an apology was forthcoming.

It took ages to get the menu and order. At the end we got the wrong beer and the staff refused to changed it (of course we didn't get the money back)

Awful pub, we got the wrong drinks and the waiters were very very unfriendly. We asked for a refund but they didn´t compensate the slightest and threatened to throw us out. Additionally, the food was too late. For that price I could have honestly gotten a better deal at the burger king.

El personal es rápido y el servicio es bueno y ofrecen un menú en inglés y habla inglés con fluidez, pero la calidad de la comida es mala y sugiero tratar de comer en un lugar diferente. Por cierto, NO tomes el shnichel de ternera, es realmente malo.

We waited for 20 minutes, and the servers saw us but did not come to take our order.

That was the worst burger I have had in a long time! So sweet! And then no other flavour than that. Disgusting. Took two mouthfuls and left the rest. French fries boring as hell. Spend your money somewhere else, because this place does not deserve them.

Sit outside on the terrace, nice weather on Thursday afternoon. After ten minutes the waitress alerted us and we received the menu. The waitress would come back to take drinks and possibly food. Dear Madam never returned after half an hour.

I ordered a pornstar martini, I got a passionfruit schmirnoff drink. That tasted completely different. It's great that there are no pornstar martinis, but that should have been indicated, then I certainly wouldn't have ordered these! Toilets very messy and staff not very friendly.

Wonderful experience at this place. We sat at the wonderful terrace they have. We ordered and we paid,I didn't check the ticket which amount was less than the food we ordered. They made a small mistake when bringing the food we ordered,and when they realised (not us),they apologised immediately and they invited us to 2 extra drinks. Extremely honest, kind and polite,good food and fast service. A place to recommend!

Nice place for a Guinness but no smoking area from what I could see which is the only downfall

The service was fast and the menu looked promising. Can’t recommend pulled pork sandwich - overall taste was bad, pork was not pulled but rather served in chunks, not enough taste, no sauce inside the sandwich Friend of mine got hotdog and it also wasn’t nice. The only part of the dish was enjoyable - potato fries. Hope the restaurant is checking comments and can improve the taste quality of those positions in the menu .

It was the worst fried food I have ever eaten or seen in my life. I don't know how old the oil was in which they fried it, but it just smelled bad. The service was fast, the atmosphere was nice, not bad.

The Hoopman on Leidseplain is a small, cozy Irish pub with a pleasant atmosphere and friendly service. We only ended up here by chance as a last resort because we didn't want to pay an entrance fee to the Waterhole Live Music Bar hehe, but we don't regret the visit in the slightest. We sat down at the bar and, in keeping with our old habit of never changing a running system, ordered a HopHouse13. Always highly recommended! Last but not least, I wanted to try another beer and asked the very nice bartender about Swinckels, as I had never read or seen this before. I was extremely positively surprised and fell in love with the Swinckels, it was very, very tasty! Unfortunately, this beer is not available in Germany, so another trip and a trip to Hoopman for this culinary delight is definitely an option.

We spent new year's eve in the bar. After going for a cigarette outside, we got locked out- no warning or anything. My husband's jacket was still inside. Then we started knocking on the door and after the staff saw us explaining with gestures that the jacket is inside did not even made an effort to unlock the door or even to try understanding the situation. The party continued inside for the staff which is fine but at least should have given us the jacket. It was freezing outside and this is how we got treated. Today we were able to take the jacket and got a sad sorry for the inconvenience....This should not have happened in the first place! We were just outside. My advise definitely skip this place when in Amsterdam.

Came for breakfast here but was disappointed as I just wanted scrambled eggs and sausage and toast but had to pay the full price of the Irish breakfast which was €14. When the food came it looked really nice and tasted really really good. So can’t fault the quality of the food here. Overall good experience just a shame about paying full price for a select few items from the breakfast but it is what it is. 2 breakfasts and 2 drinks came to €36 which I think was worth it for the quality and the amount of food you get.

We witnessed two waitresses throwing each other on the ground, didn’t come to serve us for lunch and made us pay 8 euros for water!!

You simply don't get served here, even though you often have eye contact with the waiters. But it wasn't just us, it also happened to a family and two men next to us. After 20 minutes we got up and went to the restaurant opposite where we were immediately served in a friendly manner.

Food was good but overpriced. The atmosphere from the outdoor seating is nice.

Unfortunately It took very long for everything... till we could order, till we got the drinks, the food and also till we got the bill. Prices are immensely high ! Especially for the food cause the portions are ridiculously small.... We got no receipt and the prices for the non alcoholic drinks are not on the menu. Would not recommend it :(
