Irish pub true to its colors. The service is efficient, however we are pushed a little towards the exit when we have finished (we were there in the middle of the afternoon)

i went to this bar on 0/23/25, the bar man Brian is a good bar tender, had my food in no time and it was a burger and fries, and it was verry good the beer was cold, he is nice guy to chat with, this is a verry good pub to visit when in Amsterdam, i will be back,

We went to watch a soccer match. We had chicken sate, fish and chips, and vegetarian bitterballen and some drinks and other snacks. The food was okay, definitely nothing special. The crust on the fish and chips was soft, definitely nothing special straight out of a fryer. All the snack food was standard. Drinks were pretty good, a lot of options. Staff was very nice but there wasn’t much service. We were inside and went to the bar for all of our orders. Totally fine and they were happy to help but nobody came to us for any orders or anything. It is a sports bar, so they had the game on but it is quite loud so if you’re not there to watch maybe sit outside or farther from the bar area. Overall not bad. Perfectly pleasant. But could for sure be improved in some areas.

Good service, good beer. The toilets could be cleaner but you get the authentic experience.

They used to have an amazing veggie burger which is hard to find in Amsterdam. It's been swapped for a €20 falafel burger—boring. Bring it back! Great pub though. Very gezellig.

Ordered a Guinness, they gave me a Murphys thinking I wouldn’t notice. Absolute tourist trap. Don’t come. Empty bar as well.

No place for Rugby! The owner does not want to even do effort to see if a game is airing. "This is a place for beers, not sports"

At a table of seven, the same person was ignored over and over again. First, drinks weren't delivered, then food wasn't. Everyone ate and drank, and that one person was allowed to look at it. They then made you pay twice for the food and drinks you ordered. Service was nil. Not even an apology was forthcoming.

It took ages to get the menu and order. At the end we got the wrong beer and the staff refused to changed it (of course we didn't get the money back)

Awful pub, we got the wrong drinks and the waiters were very very unfriendly. We asked for a refund but they didn´t compensate the slightest and threatened to throw us out. Additionally, the food was too late. For that price I could have honestly gotten a better deal at the burger king.

El personal es rápido y el servicio es bueno y ofrecen un menú en inglés y habla inglés con fluidez, pero la calidad de la comida es mala y sugiero tratar de comer en un lugar diferente. Por cierto, NO tomes el shnichel de ternera, es realmente malo.

That was the worst burger I have had in a long time! So sweet! And then no other flavour than that. Disgusting. Took two mouthfuls and left the rest. French fries boring as hell. Spend your money somewhere else, because this place does not deserve them.

Sit outside on the terrace, nice weather on Thursday afternoon. After ten minutes the waitress alerted us and we received the menu. The waitress would come back to take drinks and possibly food. Dear Madam never returned after half an hour.

Complicated to have the ticket the server does not understand. We cannot pay for our consumption separately. Average atmosphere

I ordered a pornstar martini, I got a passionfruit schmirnoff drink. That tasted completely different. It's great that there are no pornstar martinis, but that should have been indicated, then I certainly wouldn't have ordered these! Toilets very messy and staff not very friendly.

We went there for a drink on Saturday evening. The beer was okay, but the cocktails weren't tasty. The toilet was very dirty and just had a really disgusting smell. Waiters were very friendly and quick

Ideal for eating on the go on the terrace in full sun! A hearty and delicious fish and chips! Tasty goat salad too!

Toilets are absolutely disgusting, no toilet paper, the hand drier doesn't work. Prices are way too high.

Wonderful experience at this place. We sat at the wonderful terrace they have. We ordered and we paid,I didn't check the ticket which amount was less than the food we ordered. They made a small mistake when bringing the food we ordered,and when they realised (not us),they apologised immediately and they invited us to 2 extra drinks. Extremely honest, kind and polite,good food and fast service. A place to recommend!

Nice place for a Guinness but no smoking area from what I could see which is the only downfall

The service was fast and the menu looked promising. Can’t recommend pulled pork sandwich - overall taste was bad, pork was not pulled but rather served in chunks, not enough taste, no sauce inside the sandwich Friend of mine got hotdog and it also wasn’t nice. The only part of the dish was enjoyable - potato fries. Hope the restaurant is checking comments and can improve the taste quality of those positions in the menu .

It was the worst fried food I have ever eaten or seen in my life. I don't know how old the oil was in which they fried it, but it just smelled bad. The service was fast, the atmosphere was nice, not bad.

The Hoopman on Leidseplain is a small, cozy Irish pub with a pleasant atmosphere and friendly service. We only ended up here by chance as a last resort because we didn't want to pay an entrance fee to the Waterhole Live Music Bar hehe, but we don't regret the visit in the slightest. We sat down at the bar and, in keeping with our old habit of never changing a running system, ordered a HopHouse13. Always highly recommended! Last but not least, I wanted to try another beer and asked the very nice bartender about Swinckels, as I had never read or seen this before. I was extremely positively surprised and fell in love with the Swinckels, it was very, very tasty! Unfortunately, this beer is not available in Germany, so another trip and a trip to Hoopman for this culinary delight is definitely an option.

We spent new year's eve in the bar. After going for a cigarette outside, we got locked out- no warning or anything. My husband's jacket was still inside. Then we started knocking on the door and after the staff saw us explaining with gestures that the jacket is inside did not even made an effort to unlock the door or even to try understanding the situation. The party continued inside for the staff which is fine but at least should have given us the jacket. It was freezing outside and this is how we got treated. Today we were able to take the jacket and got a sad sorry for the inconvenience....This should not have happened in the first place! We were just outside. My advise definitely skip this place when in Amsterdam.

Came for breakfast here but was disappointed as I just wanted scrambled eggs and sausage and toast but had to pay the full price of the Irish breakfast which was €14. When the food came it looked really nice and tasted really really good. So can’t fault the quality of the food here. Overall good experience just a shame about paying full price for a select few items from the breakfast but it is what it is. 2 breakfasts and 2 drinks came to €36 which I think was worth it for the quality and the amount of food you get.

We witnessed two waitresses throwing each other on the ground, didn’t come to serve us for lunch and made us pay 8 euros for water!!

Stopped here for a drink, nice place and a big spot. Just got beer. If it was nicer weather I think we would have liked it more to sit outside.

You simply don't get served here, even though you often have eye contact with the waiters. But it wasn't just us, it also happened to a family and two men next to us. After 20 minutes we got up and went to the restaurant opposite where we were immediately served in a friendly manner.

Food was good but overpriced. The atmosphere from the outdoor seating is nice.

Unfortunately It took very long for everything... till we could order, till we got the drinks, the food and also till we got the bill. Prices are immensely high ! Especially for the food cause the portions are ridiculously small.... We got no receipt and the prices for the non alcoholic drinks are not on the menu. Would not recommend it :(

I had been here before for a drink a few years ago and it was ok. I was back in Amsterdam so thought I'd go for drinks and some food. I went in, it was very quiet, a few people inside and outside. Lady behind the bar gave me menus and told me to take a seat and someone would come and take my order. 15 mins later... No one had been, not even to take a drinks order. Multiple servers had walked past me, multiple times, eventually one acknowledged me but still just walked by. So I took the menus back to the bar and said I had been waiting a while and no one has taken my order so I was leaving. They didn't seem bothered. Maybe that's why it was pretty empty. Anyway went to another place close by, seated and order taken right away. Disappointing but if you are doing table service and then staff aren't attentive you'll lose custom 👋🏻. If you are after an Irish bar here go to Dan Murphy's instead. If you're after food go literally anywhere else 🍴

Bram is a top server, he is friendly and very sociable, we give him a 10+ and we also really like the caterina. Everything is totally nice about this place but the staff makes it even better!!

The place is very noisy, we went in for lunch. We ordered a salmon steak and a Caesar salad. The order was brought quickly. The fish was cooked deliciously, the salad was terrible, seasoned with mayonnaise, a lot of onions, if you are preparing a "Caesar" that is not classic, then at least specify in the menu that it is the author's and what ingredients are included in it. There is one toilet for a huge establishment, I do not even want to write anything about cleanliness. In my opinion, the establishment is only suitable for going in for a glass of beer and leaving.

The female waiter wanted 25€ for 3 beers - beware of a rip-off!

My recent visit to this restaurant was disappointing. The food was underwhelming, with the steak served alongside coleslaw instead of a more fitting sauce. The young staff seemed inexperienced and lacked the necessary customer service skills. When I asked about the sides that accompanied a dish, I was simply told to "read the menu." I specifically requested coleslaw with my fish and chips, but was initially told it wasn't possible—even though it's served with the steak. When my food finally arrived, I asked another server for coleslaw, and while she agreed, it took an additional 15 minutes to arrive. The staff appeared to rely heavily on the ordering screens, with little initiative beyond that. Unfortunately, this experience has ensured that I won't be returning.

They didn't give a receipt when we paid, the non-alcoholic drinks' prices are not on the menu. They didn't bring the right beer we asked and the bacon-cheese toast didn't have any bacon. My toast was a little burnt.

English speaking waitress have terrible service. She is not Dutch. Possible red brown hair with arrogant attitude, assuming you understand the menu and ride when you asked if they had a drink (basically said to see the menu and if it is not there it is not available). Why do people that do not like to work with people work in the hospitality business. I definitely will not go out refined coming to this bar go next door for better service.

On a hot day it was nice to stop for a cold beer and a snack. My sons and I were really impressed with the service and loved the bitterballen and Old Amsterdam cheese.

We had a very good lunch. Delicious Angus steak, perfect Fisher & chips. This may seem a little expensive: 2 dishes, 2 beers 50 and a bottle of water, 76.50€ but in Amsterdam it is quite common with the bottle of water at 8€.

Nice typical Irish pub atmosphere. Prices are tourist inflated. The service is neither too slow nor too fast. It has an acceptable duration, but the employees could be more polite. When we asked about the beers that did not list the price, they gave involuntary answers as if to say "What are you asking?" Paying 17.50 for two beers is a bit much
