Very ok taste, creatieve. Side dishes also fine, price is good. The way to toilet is quite challenging.

Overall I can recommend this place. It's a good location, lots of tables outside. The food is also great, I especially recommend the padron peppers and the Basque cheesecake is simply delicious. The paella is good, but in my opinion it's overpriced. Unfortunately I don't recommend the red sangria it is taste like water diluted with wine.

Service was rather slow, it took quite a while for them to even get our order. But I did really enjoy the food here and had a nice experience overall 😊 My favorite dish was gambas al ajillo, it was near perfection 🙏 Padron peppers, olives, manchego and everything else we had were really good as well! The only dish I wouldn't recommend is the patatas bravas, there was way too much sauce in my opinion.

The atmosphere of the place was nice and you felt very comfortable there. In the summer you can certainly sit on the terrace here.

Went there on Sunday withought a reservation, hoping we would find a table available. Indeed, all the tables outside were taken, however, inside there were a bunch of available ones. The host said he can't help us withought a reservation, so we went online to check availability, and to our surprise they had an available table 5 minutes later, so we made a reservation. Came back to the restaurant, showed the reservation, and surprisingly, we were denied once again, because they still had no available tables. I asked why were we able to reserve a table online, the guy answered by saying "I don't care, cancel it or do whatever you want, I don't care". Meanwhile, a couple of older Dutch people shows up withought a reservation, and they get seated right away (we are from Eastern Europe, we don't exactly look like typical Dutch people). So long story short, you might not be able to eat or drink at this place if you are not tall and blonde, or speak Dutch.

Word of mouth brought me here, and I’m so glad I didn’t hesitate to check it out. Without a reservation, we got lucky and snagged a seat by the kitchen, where we watched sizzling pans in action and took in the mouthwatering aromas. We ordered fried calamari, padron peppers, and paella with gambas—each dish was so delicious that we scraped every last bit from the pan. It’s amazing how word of mouth can lead to an unforgettable meal!

A really nice place, the paellas are delicious and the starters are also tasty. We had only made reservations for 3 people and when we came in we were given a 2-person table where a third chair was added and an extra person had to be covered. Behind us was a 4-person table where, not much later, a party of 2 people was placed at it. It would have made more sense if the tables were swapped. They also work in time slots of 1.15, which is really tight. We had just finished our paella and the bill was already placed on the table, so there was no option for dessert. This was a shame, because we certainly wanted to order again. All in all, a nice place and good food, but definitely room for improvement.

Hands down, one of the best Spanish restaurants in the Netherlands I’ve tried so far. We sat at the bar and could see how the Paella was perfectly cooked, once we dug in to eat, you can see the Socarrat on the bottom. We had the padron peppers and croquetas de jamon iberico as starters and we loved it. Not to mention the Arroz con Leche for dessert had a perfect balance of sweetness from the rice combined with the mango sorbet. 10/10 would come back!

This place is hard to review, I think every dish was lovely, but everything was way too rich. The dishes were not balanced enough. The fried calamaris was good and needed the fresh lemon. The aioli was tasty but too creamy and thick. The paella was great, but too salty and the aioli on top didn't help balance since it was so rich.

Hello! We arrived and asked for a table because we had made a reservation, but since we arrived late and had seen that the entire reservation schedule was open, we did not hesitate to continue going. We walked in and they simply didn't even know what I had booked. They wanted to sit us at the bar but we finally settled outside because between the sun and the heaters we thought we were going to be fine. It turns out that we ordered two starters, but they didn't even give us a plate, and a paella for which we waited almost two hours. We asked three times how it was going and the answer was always “it's coming out now, sorry.” Finally we left without eating the paella. We had been there more times and I always recommended it, something that no longer makes me want to do again.

Showed up on a Saturday night without a reservation. We got seated at the bar. The food was amazing! And the service was very good. Watching the kitchen cook while eating is always a good time.

A nice Spanish restaurant in Haarlem with very friendly service. We enjoyed the pimiento de padron and a delicious Paella Valeciana here. Also take a look in the open kitchen, where you can see how the Paella is made on special burners. We had a nice evening here. 1 minus: steep stairs down to reach the sanitary facilities.

Very tasty tapas! The paella was good too. The cheesecake was an unfortunate disappointment, as they made it with goat cheese (they told us afterwards) but we had no idea beforehand, as I was informed the cheesecake was recommended but apparently it wasn't made with goat cheese back then. Other than that I could recommend the garlic bread, shrimp tartare and iberico pork cheeks. The eggplant was very flavourful. The black garlic aioli on the calamares is nice. And I like the patatas bravas as well. Service was good, but there is room for improvement. Overall a nice cozy place to have Spanish food!

Went there on the advice of a Spanish colleague whore. Of course reserved, which makes sense for a Saturday evening. The choice was limited to a later time, but that was no problem. Once we arrived, to our astonishment, we were directed to a spot on the corner of the bar, close to the door. To be honest, we were quite astonished because no choice was given between bar or table when booking. Given the time (8:30 PM), we joined because we didn't feel like wandering through Haarlem on Saturday evening looking for a nice alternative (it was a birthday dinner). The spot at the bar turned out to be a disaster. The door opened frequently, blowing a strong cold draft down our backs. The food was tasty, especially the tapas, the paella we came for was ok but salty and contained no vegetables. The atmosphere was cozy and felt authentic, many of the staff are Spanish-speaking. It is clearly stated at checkout that such a place at the bar is really not possible when making a reservation!

Arroz was a mixed experience for us. The space is quite modern with a Spanish touch which makes you feel in Spain. The service was somehow sloppy and not too caring, perhaps was the fact that we were the last table of the evening, however first or last customer, it's always a customer. The prices are in line with what you expect from a Spanish restaurant in the Netherlands. A very big no for us was the temperature of the space, it was COLD! The door with no air curtain and the overall temperature of the space ensured a not so pleasant dining experience. The food was tasty and the ingredients were of good quality. The croquetas were nothing exceptional and unfortunately the squid in the paella was really chewy and gummy. Eventually we paid and left without being asked a feedback hence my review here. I think next time I would think twice before going.

Authentic Spanish, customer and service-oriented employees. Warm appearance. Portions of paella on the small side, but with some tapas beforehand and a dessert you will leave feeling happy.

Delicious for lunch but also delicious for dinner! Shared a number of tapas in advance and then shared a 2-person paella with 3 people. The kitchen is full of Spanish people and you can really taste this. The original Valencian paella is highly recommended.

Eating at Arroz was a unique experience. I took Arroz negro and it was spectacular and perfectly prepared. Start with patatas bravas and pimientos del piquillo. The sauce for the fries was delicious. not the typical alioli with pimenton moon otherwise, I would definitely like the recipe hahaha. And for dessert the Basque cheesecake. Well, I'm from the Basque Country myself and I've certainly eaten some of them, but not like this one. It's creamy, perfectly cooked and the taste is unique too. You get a whole cake for 2, it was great! Most servers are also very friendly and the Spanish chefs certainly know their stuff. This is a must for anyone who likes good food and wants to try Spanish cuisine. It was the first time for me but certainly not the last.

If their paella is less salty I’d give it a 5 ⭐️ for sure! 😅 All other dishes were fantastic! Totally recommend miso eggplant!

The mariscos Paella and their cheesecake was really good. I recommend it. The calamari & pulpo were a bit disappointing (is not compared to how it is in Spain).

I am Spanish. Just moved to Haarlem. I have liked abroad for quite some time and you would never catch me eating at a Spanish restaurante outside of Spain - they are usually not good. But I hear so much about this place that was curious. Now I understand why. All of a sudden, I felt I had travelled to Valencia or Alicante. The food was felicious, and the place and the staff made me feel at home. I now know where to go when I miss good Spanish food and ambiance.

never again. i was in this restaurant couple of evenings ago, and for sure that was the first and last time. we sat inside at around 18.45 where the vibe and the atmosphere was great, and after 10 minutes of waiting we asked to the waitress to bring at least the menus. we ordered 3 tapas and a paella, they brought the tapas first and actually they were really nice and tasty. after fourty minutes, FOURTY MINUTES, we received our paella, which was plain and without taste; definitely not had the right to be called paella, was just spicy rice. we were really disappointed about it, so we ordered at least a cheesecake and a coffe that were just ok. reached the modest hour of 20.30 we asked for the check; it was just a surprise. the paella was in total 84€, even though in the menu was written 21€. the waitress told us that the clause “per person” was written in the menu but to be honest it was so small that even with a hand lens we could see it. we also noticed that the cheesecake was 15€ (in the menu card you don’t even have the dessert section, we had to ask to the waiter). not even if it was made out of gold i would pay 15€ for a cheesecake. Overall the service was ok (the times they were considering us), food was fine, but the prices were waaaay too high for this place.

Seafood paella, like the one from Spain!

In the year that I have lived in the Netherlands, no restaurant has brought me so close to Spanish gastronomy, but unfortunately the service is very Dutch. From the moment you sit down until they take your order you can easily count half an hour even if the restaurant is almost empty. To bring you some bread with tomato it will take no less than 15-20 minutes. And for the rice, prepare a wait of at least an hour and a half, just as for any hot starter it will not take less than an hour. While you wait, you will go bankrupt on xxs size beers and xxl prices, as long as you are served by the waiter or waitress who comes out to the terrace every 15 minutes to see if anyone needs anything. The last time, after waiting almost two hours and threatening not to pay for the paella, they made it quickly and quickly, and some of the hard ingredients arrived. After trying this place 3 times I can confirm it's the best restaurant in Haarlem to enjoy some Spanish food (along with another one in Amsterdam, they're the best in The Netherlands). Their staff is friendly, their menu card is solid with an interesting variety of paellas, their desserts are yummy (Arroz con Leche was our favorite one) and their prices reasonable. They've got seating inside and outside, just note the inside gets a bit loud when the restaurant is full. Important to note for those with walking difficulties, the wc is located on the basement and there is a step winding flight of stairs that take you there. Congratulations to the Spanish lads manning the resort, they're amazing, very friendly, always engaging and happy to have a conversation.

This restaurant has all the qualities. The food is delicious (the cheesecake!!, the paella!), the service is extremely friendly, flexible and attentive, there is a beautiful terrace.

Bad experience after going here the second time. Service was extremely slow, had to go to the bar myself constantly. Ordered a bottle of wine which they just put on the table. No pouring or anything. Paella they put on the table where they is no space and you have to serve it yourself. Asked for fries for the kids as a starter, they would check because they normally come with the main, but never came back. Fries came then with the main when the kids were done eating. Was asked to keep cutlary from starter for main...? Portions of tapas are extremely small. 8 euros for patatas bravas, which was literally less than 1 potatoe.. Pan con Tomate is 5 euro for 2 small slices of bread. The paella tasted good, but I will not come back here due to the service.

We reserved a table a while ago, at 8:00 PM so that we did not have to take into account a mandatory end time. However, upon arrival there turned out to be no table for us, only a place at the bar with a not too pleasant view of the pots and pans in the kitchen. We asked whether we could still move to a table after a while, but that could not be said with certainty. Despite the mandatory end times stated on the website, people can apparently remain seated, so we went to eat somewhere else...

Beautiful weather so we sat on the terrace. The tapas selection is not very large. The meatballs in tomato sauce were lukewarm. Croquettes were tasty.

I leave with the memory of home. The flavors, the smells... everything tastes like home. I will return for sure! The paella del senyoret is delicious.

Very nice and tasty Spanish restaurant. Tapas and paella were very good, and also the cheesecake was banging. I was there my two Spanish friends and they appreciated a lot so big thumbs up. The waiters were kind and smiling so that was very pleasant, even though they had many people and was a busy day they seemed always very happy to help! The location is nice because it’s in a pretty square in the center of Haarlem and it’s a very picturesque area. The atmosphere inside also is nice, not very spacious inside but has a big terrace and takes a lot of sun ☀️ . The kitchen is open and you can see the making of food which I like. Only thing which is a no for me are the prices, too high even for the tapas. Recommended!

I ate here twice, six months apart. Both times there was a feeling of not being at all. We had several appetizers and paella. I would not recommend the puntillas de calamar, not much squid and a lot of batter. It is a bite of crispy batter with salt. The paella, on the other hand, was tasty. I think the not-quite feeling is due to the relationship between quality, price and quantity. It's not good enough and too scanty for this price. On the other hand, the cheesecake was a meal. The atmosphere is good and the service is friendly. We had a great time there and drank some nice wine. Update after response from Arroz: I do not understand Arroz's response, because I have no comment about the paella rice. That's good.

I am Spanish and everything I ate here reminded me of Spain!! That is very difficult to find in a restaurant here in Holland!! For those who say that the paella here is served burnt and with very little rice, this is the authentic paella and that is how we love it!!!! That's what people who don't know what a good paella is and want more quantity than quality will say!! But the paella was perfect, with salt and flavor, I loved it and a Spanish woman says so, the creamy croquettes, the delicious squid and the cheesecake pffffffff I was left wanting more 🤩🤩 I would return to this restaurant without hesitation 10/10

The food was quite tasty, but that's about it. Came in and was helped fairly quickly. But once we were seated, there was hardly any attention left. Staff sigh among themselves that they don't feel like it... not very nice with a terrace full. Spent a long time without a drink, once you could order a sangria you had to wait 20 minutes for it. Finally asked for a dessert menu, after waiting half an hour there was still no one to take your order. In the end I had to pay without being able to order dessert. Pity.

It never fails for a Sunday rice and a good sangria! And good value for money.

Ordering a drink takes at least 45 mins. We waited for almost 2 hours for paella. Worst service ever. Paella was just awfully tasteless and bitter. Waste of money and time.

I am familiar with Arroz and the style. I took a few friends with me to let them taste the well-known paella and then went to some other restaurants. We ordered 1 paella to share. Probably due to a miscommunication, because they did ask 'for 3 people?' a very large pan arrived that said it contained paella for 3 people. And also 3x on the bill. If we had known this, we would of course have ordered 3 different paellas. We understand the situation, but you still leave with a disappointed feeling, even though the paella was delicious.

A nice place in a nice location in the area of the market. A single waiter greeted us and we chose a table for two. We ordered a lemonade(1.5€), still water (3€) and what is called "mais ribs"(10€), which is just a cob of corn sliced into 4. It was very good with some grated cheese. As a main course, we ordered a Paella, which comes as a 2 people (priced 20€ per person) dish on a wide pan. We chose the vegetarian version with artichokes, cauliflower, and mushrooms. The kitchen is wide open, so we could see the cooks making it while waiting. The dish looked good but tasted a bit bitter and the dark sauce implied a potential overcooking, though the rice itself was al-dente. The waiter suggested squeezing a lemon on top, and brought us a whole lemon sliced into two, and that improved the taste. We accompanied the Paella with a good Rioja white wine (5.5€) The toilet room had 2 chambers for men and 2 chambers for women. They were clean. There are paper towels outside the chambers. The atmosphere is nice with Cuban music in the background that doesn't interfere too much with the conversation.

Super attentive and motivated staff who provide you with a delicious drink while The freshly sliced ​​Iberico ham melts in your mouth and you see how everything is prepared for you in the open kitchen and you see how your Pan with Päella is prepared! As an extra starter we had a mash of sweet potato with butter, softly cooked meat in the middle with a sauce that cannot be matched!!! The Päella with squid ink was my choice and it left nothing to be desired... Beautifully presented and the taste was everything you could or want to taste. Thanks for the good care!
