The food was amazing,  the staff very lovely and friendly. However, our experience turned into a NIGHTMARE as my wife was drugged in the restaurant. She woke up with a full blackout, convinced that she was going to die. We almost had to take her to a hospital the next day. Very sad and traumatic experience.

Very nice eatery in Noord. Just to manage expectations: You mainly eat tacos and tostadas here and no cutlery is used. So maybe not the best place for a charming first date, but in all other cases: definitely go there! The dishes are all delicious and are prepared and served quite quickly (so don't expect a 2-hour dinner). Also an extensive menu of cocktails and mescals. Going by on a whim is a risk: to be sure of a spot, it is better to reserve a table two weeks in advance.

The food and cocktails were excellent, with rich and fresh flavors. However, the service was chaotic, which is disappointing because I loved the food. It took too long for our orders to arrive, and one dish we ordered never came at all. The waitress didn't even notice this. Although she apologized, she made no effort to offer us a replacement or any other compensation (fortunately, we weren't very hungry) btw you want to have a proper meal, be prepared to overpay because it's pricey. Additionally, they brought us two incorrect orders. The octopus taco was the only dish I enjoyed, as I couldn’t try the other options. As a recommendation, the restaurant should put up some shades to stay outside to block a little bit of the sun to make the experience more pleasant.

Not a bargain, but delicious. We like going there. But for two people, the hundred bucks go quickly. Without a reservation, it's usually difficult.

Food was OK, drinks were great. Overall, the menu was insanely priced for the amount of food you get. If you want to actually have a proper meal, you have to be willing to seriously overspend. I feel like Amsterdam does this to Mexican food in general though. Street food concept with high end dining prices.

They were bustling and really busy. Hence why I'm very impressed with their service, efficiency, and attentiveness. Did not let the pressure affect their quality and care. This place is absolutely fantastic. My new favourite restaurant in the Netherlands. If you love Mexican food and you are a foodie you will really appreciate this place. The flavours layer each other perfectly. Vegetarians will get full here. The dishes are stunning. Atmosphere is soooo cool and the service is amazing. Everybody is so friendly. We will keep coming here!

The food was quite good but it’s way over priced especially considering you have to sit in a garage to eat it.

50/50 on the dishes we got. We started with two tostadas (langoustine, tuna), and they were okay; the fish roe was very pungent and hard to get past and the langoustine was acid forward but rather bland. The tacos (pumpkin, pork carnitas) were more flavorful and we enjoyed these. Their Mexican version of crème brûlée was an odd mix of flavors, and not particularly enjoyable. Overall, okay—not blown away. Also, price is quite high for the portion sizes (€90 for two people). The atmosphere is cozy, lively, and nice.

Highly recommended. We tried the chefs menu with several different tacos and tostadas. They were all simply amazing, especially the Polpo and pork belly bacon ones. The dishes were all nicely balanced and the ingredients of amazing quality.

Bacalar is one of my favorite restaurants in Amsterdam, and I’ve visited around ten times for their excellent food and cocktails. The waiters and bar staff are always fantastic, and I often bring visiting friends and family here.

Best tacos I’ve had in my life. Probably top 3 food I’ve had in all of NL. Bacalar has a laid back, low stakes atmosphere, but don’t be mistaken, their flavors are very very special — some that you can’t even find in fine-dining restaurants. Service is great. When you sit down, somebody comes over to explain every single dish on the menu in detail (yes, all of them). The kitchen is super fast, so you get your food very quickly. When the dishes are brought over, your waiter takes a lot of care in explaining both the flavors and the cultural background of each dish, referencing their geographical origin (mostly Mexico). Very satisfying experience overall.

Happening vibe, nice staff, though not very efficiënt nor organized they were friendly. Really tasty food, good latin/mexican flavours, nice presentation, new and classic dishes, aaand delicious cocktails! In the picture one of my favoriete we tried, Tostada from cauliflower ceviche!

We managed to get a seat at the bar as we didn't have a reservation. We tried the watermelon, the mushroom and the veal one - all amazing. You get your food one plate at a time.

Loved it! This place is has the best tacos of Amsterdam. It is not just a meal, the whole place is a great experience. My favorite tacos are Rio and Lengoa.

The experience was excellent, even though we hadn't booked. The guy at the reception was very kind and, even though we had to wait a bit, as soon as he learned that we are from Puglia he offered us a free bottle of wine, a much appreciated gesture. Nice place and above all the tacos are delicious. A big greeting from Bari to the boy who welcomed us very well.

Really amazing food and experience! Not cheap, but well worth it. The quality of the ingredients is incredible. Highlights were the tuna taco, the carnitas and the veal tongue. The margaritas sure pack quite a punch too 💥

The Tacos de Lengua were amazing enough to warrant another visit! A must try if you like Mexican food and are in Noord. Also, I would recommend making a reservation here.

I went to this place because the reviews were good, but the dishes were very small and not satisfying, and they were also very expensive. Cocktail varieties were not nice at all. After paying a high price here, we were not satisfied and ate elsewhere. I do not recommend it, except that the employees are very nice and friendly.

We went because of the reviews but were unfortunately disappointed afterwards. The portions are very small and the prices are high. Just 3 mini tacos start from €13-14 (vegetarian). The cocktails might take some getting used to for someone coming from Germany. I don't recommend it. There are several and cheaper restaurant choices nearby. The only positive thing I can mention is that the waiters were extremely friendly! After dinner we went for pizza because the food didn't fill us up.

The place is located in a bit of a "remote" area (not really but kind of). I came here at night and my first look from outside is that it reminds me of the gta 5 motorcycle club. The place seem to be always full, a bit loud (good kind of loud), everyone is talking and having fun. The food was very good, the portions are on the smaller side and a bit costly but still worth the price in my opinion. The people who work here are generally very nice, but they aren't for the average guy (I am not used to these kind of places), it felt like there was some sort of étiquette when ordering and interacting with them that I sadly don't know about and I could see the disappointmentin the waiter's eyes every time I needed to order something knew or ask him something but this is my own fault I guess. If you come here as a couple you will be spending at least 50-70 euros. When you reserve your place online you will need to pay 10 euros per person, however, it will be deducted from the bill, which is very good. Overall, I think the people who are used to these kind of places will LOVE it and and those who aren't might find it normal or above average.
