Not even worthy of 1 star! Yesterday, a friend and I were supposed to come here for dinner. On our way to Bangkok, due to an accident on the highway, we wouldn't arrive at the scheduled time. So I called the restaurant politely, assuming we could still come, albeit a little later. The gentleman who answered the phone indicated that it was extremely busy and that if we came, we would only have a little over an hour. His advice: just come and get takeout instead! To this, we replied that we would prefer to get the €25 deposit back and make a reservation for the following week. The gentleman indicated that this wasn't possible and that the deposit couldn't be carried over to another day either, and immediately hung up on me?! I am baffled by the rude treatment you can expect from this establishment. And judging by the reviews, I am not the only one!! Pride comes before a fall…

We have been coming to Bangkok for years and have always returned with pleasure. Unfortunately, we were treated so poorly yesterday that we have never experienced anything like this before. We had contacted them by phone in advance. We were told that we could arrive from 5:30 PM and that the table was available for 1.5 hours. Fine, that was more than enough for us. However, upon arrival, we were received by the manager/owner as if we had made up the story about the telephone appointment. It was bluntly stated that they do not accept telephone reservations and that we could just sit outside. Although this actually went against my principles after such a reception, we did so anyway. Subsequently, we were served by an English-speaking lady who, unfortunately, came across as even ruder than the host. Nothing remained of the hospitality we had been accustomed to here for years. A restaurant is not just about the food, but also about how you treat your guests. After being a loyal customer for years, this experience was particularly disappointing for us. Tonight, Bangkok no longer felt like the restaurant we always enjoyed visiting, but like a greasy spoon where hospitality is apparently no longer a priority. Very disappointing.

It has gone downhill so incredibly and the unfriendly manager has turned it into a conveyor belt operation! For us, this was the last time.

I would like to thank the gentleman who greeted us for his attention and hospitality. The food was delicious; it was my first time trying it. It's a clean, tidy, and organized place, however, the staff weren't very friendly. I ate rice in a soup bowl. Maybe that's how they serve it, I don't know, but I didn't like it. I wish you continued success.

Especially when you come with a baby, you expect some understanding and flexibility. It would therefore be nice if the restaurant took this into account more in the future. We certainly compliment the food, but the service and the way our situation was handled unfortunately made the experience a lot less pleasant. The food is very good, a bit pricey but worth it

I had a negative experience during my visit. The staff appeared unprofessional and unhelpful, particularly the man at the reception. Upon arrival, I was not permitted to sit at my reserved table because my two guests had not yet arrived. I had a reservation for three people at 6:30 p.m. and arrived on time. No clear explanation was provided for why I could not be seated, despite several tables appearing to be available. I was informed that it is their policy not to seat guests until the full party is present. I was also told that seating a single guest is not possible due to walk-in customers. However, I had a confirmed reservation, and the table had been allocated to our party and was available at that time. I waited outside for a period of time and then requested assistance from another waitress. She referred me back to the staff member inside and then left. The staff member inside did not acknowledge me and did not respond while I was standing next to him. When he eventually spoke to me, he repeated that these were the rules but did not provide further clarification. I subsequently decided to leave and went to another Thai restaurant nearby. If the situation had been handled differently, I would have been willing to wait outside. The main concern was the lack of clear communication and the approach to customer service..

Best thai-food in Amsterdam.We were such impressed that we went next day there again taking some thai friends with us and they were really impressed too.

Ordered a chicken dish for 24 euros, but you have to pay extra for the nasi, which costs 8 euros. Total cost 32 euros for 1 dish; those are steak prices! And I ordered Spa Blue, but you get tap water there, and that costs 8 euros too! The food was tasty, but we won't be coming back for these prices.

Love this Thai restaurant! The flavors are authentic, and the dishes are well prepared. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, though the service was just okay. Still, a great spot for Thai food lovers!

Crazy rude owner accosted us for parking our bikes before we could even enter the restaurant. Possibly saved us a bad meal as the place was totally empty. Avoiding at all costs.

The three of us went out for dinner yesterday, and unfortunately, the service was incredibly disappointing. We had a reservation for 7:00 PM, and at this restaurant, you get 1.5 hours for your table, so until 8:30 PM. We also wanted to order earlier, but for at least 10 minutes, we couldn't make eye contact with anyone, and no one came to us. At 8:13 PM, a waitress suddenly came to ask if we wanted to take our food away. We all looked at her in surprise because we didn't understand what she was talking about. She indicated that, according to her, we only had 10 minutes left. That wasn't even correct; at that moment, we still had 17 minutes. And even *if* it had been 10 minutes, that is still time to calmly finish your meal. Instead of understanding the situation, an argument ensued, and she called over a colleague. That colleague also kept insisting that we only had 10 minutes left. As a result, we were interrupted again during the final minutes of our reservation, meaning we couldn't even finish our meal in peace. It felt like we were being rushed out as soon as possible, even though we were still within our reserved time. As if that wasn't enough, we wanted to pay properly when settling the bill. We asked a young, English-speaking employee: “Can I pay?” His answer was: “You have to pay.” That came across as very unfriendly and disrespectful. Of course, we know we have to pay; such a response is not customer-friendly at all. The food was fine, but the service ruined the whole evening. As a guest, you expect to be treated with respect and to receive the time you reserved for. Unfortunately, that was absolutely not the case here. For us, that is reason enough not to return.

Tourist trap ! 1 liter of filtered water at 7.5€. You can earn your money without doing ripping off.

The food is excellent, very high quality, the flavors transport you to Thailand. The service is fast. The only thing I didn't like were the desserts; they're ice cream sundaes with canned whipped cream, regular ice cream, and a very large size. They don't have any Thai desserts.

The new owners (mostly the blonde woman) are very unfriendly and rude to customers. There is no customer friendliness or respect towards customers. After your meal, you are practically kicked out and snapped at. Furthermore, the food has deteriorated enormously. The previous owner turned this into a top-notch place, but now it is absolutely terrible to me. 0 stars if possible.

I have been coming to Bangkok for years and the food remains delicious, but the atmosphere and service are getting worse and worse. My boyfriend and I made a reservation online last Sunday for 8:00 PM. The confirmation email clearly states that you have a 90-minute time slot. Around 9:00 PM, we had finished eating, both wanted a drink, and wanted to chat for a bit. The waitress came to clear the table and then brought the bill unasked. She also wanted to inform us, very unkindly (!), that we were finished eating and that other guests were waiting. Very annoying, considering we had served ourselves properly and (according to your own protocol) we are allowed to dine for 90 minutes.

Owner has anger issues. Was extremely rude to us while we were trying to park our bikes, accusing us of parking incorrectly when we in fact were parking correctly. He immediately started the exchange by yelling loudly “can you read!!?” When he realized he was in the wrong, his staff started laughing behind him. Obviously we decided not to eat there. Clearly he treats his staff the same way. No wonder the restaurant was pretty much empty.

The food was good, but I was less charmed by the clientele. The service was friendly.

It's a shame that the food is the only reason to come here. Unfortunately, the service is really substandard. You also only have 1.5 hours to eat, which I find far too short.

What a difference compared to restaurant Maya 10 meters away. Sunday, April 3rd +/- 18:35 Very friendly service, dog very welcome, immediately received fresh water with ice cubes. Super friendly service. Heat lamps were turned on immediately after the staff asked if we wanted that. You really feel welcome here. Menu: no. 79: very tasty, nice and spicy. Very delicious. Basic noodles for the little one. Seasoned perfectly. The same for no. 66. Top food, very friendly service, you really feel like a guest. Pleasant covered terrace with heat lamps. It is a pity, though, that different staff members keep coming by. All compliments to the employee; she spoke English and is from Spain. Top-notch, you have to cherish employees like that. A bit pricey, but nothing is free.

Today (around 18:35), we wanted to grab a bite to eat at Bangkok. We arrived without a reservation, which normally shouldn't be a problem if there is space. Upon entering, we were not greeted kindly by a female employee. We indicated that we wanted to sit inside, and it was no problem to wait a moment. Several tables were visibly empty, and guests were also leaving. After waiting for a while, we politely asked if there was a table available by then. This was rejected in a very unfriendly and blunt manner. Subsequently, the same employee approached us asking: "Ladies, what do you want?", even though we were simply standing quietly waiting by the entrance. We were even told that we should "go wait outside," even though we weren't in anyone's way. We found that very unprofessional. What made it even stranger was that shortly afterward, a man entered without a reservation and was immediately given a table. This gave us a very unpleasant feeling and came across to us as unfair treatment of guests. The service we experienced here is absolutely not what we had expected.

Good food, but prepare for hiiiigh prices (welcome to Amsterdam Centrum €€€). Love their rice, pad thai 🥰, and papaya salad (spicy!). Their red curry is good too. I’m missing desserts tho (like mango sticky rice). Or freshly made juices. I mean, Thailand is all about fruits, we need more mango🙌

My girlfriend and I ate here 5 minutes after we ordered. The ladies next to us ordered, ate, and left. We still haven't received our food, and 3 groups who arrived later than us have already left with full stomachs!

The food is tasty. Compliments to the Spanish waitress. She was the only one who gave us time to eat in peace. The owner and others kept reminding us how many minutes we had left, starting half an hour before closing time. It was super excessive the whole time. I made it clear that I had reserved for 90 minutes and would use up that time. They force you to have your food cleared away so that you can be sent away. The food is tasty, but this ruined it, and I wouldn't be returning.

Good Food, however reservations are needed, once I made one I asked for something more special for one special occasion and when I arrived they just didn’t care. I was eager to pay if necessary but nothing was done. Just was normal dinner. That was disappointing.

The rijsttafel consists of three courses, simply delicious! Update March 2026: Ate there again last night and it was great again.

My friend and I stopped in on our way over to our next activity so we didn’t have any expectations. The restaurant was almost empty and we got to walk in without a reservation. I had one of the BEST curries I have ever had in my life, hands down!!! It was a beef curry (I think it had cinnamon, anise, and peanut butter with it? Forgot the exact name) but it was perfect. Sweet, salty, nutty, creamy and they included a lot of beef that was super tender too. I tried a few bites of my friend’s red curry and it was just as good too with a nice warming spice to it. Rice portion was huge as we split it between us and still had some left over by the end of the meal. I also had the Thai iced tea with it, it was quite nice though a touch too sweet for me but I enjoyed it nonetheless. Next time I’m in Amsterdam, I am absolutelyyyy coming back.

We spontaneously popped in for a bite to eat on a Friday night after a movie. The staff were incredibly friendly, and the atmosphere was perfect for Amsterdam's Regulier Dwarsstraat: quite loud music, waiters singing along, a large, boisterous group next to us, and lots of jokes from the staff. The food arrived almost immediately after ordering. Rice is paid separately, so a dish costs between €20 and €25. Drinks: white wine €6, soft drinks €4.50. A large bottle of water €7.50. I ordered the mixed vegetable yellow curry €16.75 (without rice). It tasted very good and was authentically Thai. However... I asked what vegetables were in it, and the woman who helped us said it contained broccoli, Chinese cabbage, mushrooms, bell pepper, and bean sprouts. However, the curry contained carrots, onions, and bell peppers. And potatoes? When I pointed this out, she denied it. "Those vegetables are in a different dish." Disappointed by this. My sister's pad Thai was delicious, but it consisted of onion, leek, and noodles, no other vegetables, and cost €14.50. Our other sister had fish fillet with chili for €20.50. It was delicious! I know it's very difficult for a restaurant owner to stay affordable in these expensive times, but my advice is to incorporate a wider variety of (affordable) vegetables into their dishes.

My girlfriend and I had iftar here yesterday. We came all the way from Enschede and spontaneously thought about eating here, so it was definitely worth it! The staff was friendly and the portions were perfect for sharing. We'll definitely be back to try other dishes!

What a fabulous Thai meal!! This is probably the best Thai meal we have ever had outside of Thailand. Cannot recommend enough!! The red curry with bamboo shoots and coconut milk was to die for and was complemented deliciously with Minced stir fried chicken with Thai basil. Absolutely delicious!!

Beautiful and cozy restaurant next to Rembrandtplein, super well located. We were very well received by Oswaldo who seated us at a great table. Very attentive and super friendly, he made us feel comfortable choosing great dishes after excellent suggestions. The food is tasty, very well served and with a fair price. I loved the whole experience and will definitely return and recommend it! Thank you Oswaldo and team! We will keep great memories!

Used to be a nice restaurant in the past. My last visit was disappointing. After we finished our dinner and before we even finish our drinks the waitress asked us to pay as there were other people waiting for a table (we were never informed that was a time limit!). The food is overpriced and the quality not as good as it used to be. We will not come back nor we recommend it to anyone.

The food was amazing and I probably had the best Pornstar Martini I have ever had. Why did I only give 1 star? After we finished our dinner the waitress did not come back to check in to take our desert order. When she finally approached us we were told we had to leave as our 1.5 hour reservation was over. We had waited 20 minutes with no one coming to our table after they cleaned off our dinner. Not only was that incredibly rude but left all of us shocked. I get that Amsterdam has a lot of tourists and most never come back. I was with one of my family members who lives in Amsterdam and I come there at least twice a year. It was so disappointing. Never again!

I've eaten here twice, and both times I had diarrhea. That probably has something to do with the cheap factory-made sauces loaded with sugar; we won't even mention the quality of the vegetables and meat. The service is quick and friendly.

The power had gone out. We only received a starter and a bottle of water. No one came to tell us that no more food would be coming. After waiting 45 minutes, we decided to leave. Service also means communicating with your customers, and that was completely neglected here. Keeping customers waiting without explanation is simply not done.

Don't miss the opportunity to enjoy delicious, clean food for the second time in three months. An unforgettable taste.

Friendly staff. Good, tasty food. Better to have fried rice or noodles... for an extra charge. The portion was large enough to fill you up. Two dishes with drinks for less than €45 is perfectly acceptable.

What antisocial staff! We were sitting comfortably on their patio with a table full of drinks. It started raining, and an employee immediately retracted the awning. We weren't allowed in the restaurant and were literally pushed out with violence. Antisocial and disrespectful. Words can't describe it. That's no way to treat customers, so why do they even have a patio? A place like that doesn't deserve a single star.

🍜 Excellent authentic Thai cuisine at Bangkok Restaurant in Amsterdam, with delicious dishes and friendly service. One small drawback: the prices are a little high for the portions offered. A culinary experience worth discovering, but preferably without having to eat too many dishes.

Ordered Pad thai with chicken, papaya salad and tom yom soup. Chicken was made a bit different than the usual pad thai. Soup was okay but for a small bowl it was 20,50 euros which was a bit on the expensive side. Outside seating was nice. Charged 3,50 euros per glass of hot water which is kind of crazy.

Cozy restaurant, good food, and great service. I'll definitely be back.

I was walking through Amsterdam and came across this Thai restaurant in the city center. I walked in without a reservation, was warmly greeted, and quickly got a table. The food was excellent, tasted delicious, and the service was friendly. I loved everything. I will definitely be back and highly recommend it.

We visited this restaurant on a Tuesday evening rather spontaneously after catching a movie. We were really craving some good Asian food and we’re so glad we ended up here! Despite how surprisingly busy it was for a Tuesday night, the manager (I believe his name was Ossy?) went out of his way to find us a table, even though we didn’t have a reservation. That already set a great tone for the evening. We ordered two starters and one main course to share, along with a few cocktails and iced tea. The drinks were honestly a highlight refreshing, flavorful, and beautifully presented. I highly recommend trying the Bangkok Special and the Thai Basil Smash—both were absolutely amazing! The staff were super friendly and had a great sense of humor. A special shoutout to our waiter, Ajubi (I hope I’m spelling that right!)—he really made us feel welcome. And a big thank-you to bartender Stefan, who gave us some great insights into the restaurant and its cocktail menu. Overall, our experience was fantastic. I don’t usually write reviews, but this place definitely deserves one. We’ll absolutely be coming back

Terribly awful service! The owner yelled at us to leave, even though we had a reservation and fifteen minutes to spare. He then insisted on giving us a free drink on the house even though we didn't want one, but in the end, the drinks were still on the receipt, and we had to pay for them ourselves. Rude, loud, disrespectful, and unnecessarily stressful! I won't be coming back here again.

Horrible servicio, jefe malo y camareros, nos han apresurado a pagar cuando todavía nos quedaban 15 minutos de nuestra reserva mientras nos gritaban. Cancelamos las bebidas que ya habíamos pedido, pero nos ofrecieron bebidas gratis que todavía teníamos que pagar al final! Cuando nos dirigimos a los precios de las bebidas gratis en nuestro recibo y nos dijeron que nunca nos ofrecieron las bebidas en la casa y que necesitaban pagar por ellas de cualquier manera. Antes me gustaba la comida pero nada sabe tan bien como el respeto y el buen servicio del que aparentemente nunca han oído hablar. ¡No vuelvas nunca más!

On my last visit, I was rudely addressed and even shouted at by a Spaniard who showed absolutely no respect. The staff has clearly changed, and unfortunately not for the better. Never again for me.

I had a delicious meal at Bang Kok. I loved the cozy atmosphere and the excellent service. The curry was truly delicious, as if I were in Thailand.

I have been coming here for over 30 years, but what has happened in recent years is really a shame. Let me be honest, the food is still delicious. But the portions seem smaller. I often come alone and want a Bangkok mix for one person, well that is no longer possible, really ridiculous. When I finished my starter I did not get clean cutlery, the used one was taken off my plate and put on the table for the next round. Furthermore I had food left over and I wanted that to take with me, now, that is the first time, I had to pay 0.25 euro cents per container. Furthermore the service is sad, young boys were joking around with each other the whole time. Really not possible, very restless. The prices have gone up a lot. All in all you can get better. You have to pay for reserving a table, never experienced that before. Such a shame...

The food is delicious I am very honest about that! But I do find it very bizarre and very coincidental that I find a hair in my food twice. (Orange curly hair) While I know that I have black straight hair. Friendly lady who works there politely offered a new one and the first time it can happen. The second time I quietly called an employee to indicate that I find it strange and that I do not necessarily expect that I do not have to pay for it But that they should perhaps pay more attention in the kitchen. Then no understanding was shown and I Have to say that there are a number of arrogant employees who cannot smile properly. A very overtyped restaurant And I advise everyone against it. Hygiene is number 1 and unfortunately I have not experienced that here. They also reuse their rice that is left over from customers. I would say Take a look in their kitchen.
