Had a great meal in this cozy restaurant. Nice location, could sit outside and enjoy the coziness. Top food, price-quality is good. Especially the homemade bread, the eggplant, the chicken and the dessert are delicious. Recommended! Oh yes, the service is attentive and very nice.

Saturday June 14th enjoyed the food and atmosphere at Bar Bachrach, lovely to sit outside together, we lingered at the table for a long time, the food was super tasty.

Super service, fantastic and surprising dishes and TOP wines and cocktails. Really recommended.

Yesterday we had a lovely meal with a group in this atmospheric restaurant. We had the 6-course menu and all the favourites were served: sea bass, smoked aubergine, chicken from the green egg, octopus carpaccio and a delicious dessert. The cocktails beforehand made it a real party to spend the evening here. The service was very involved and made it a special evening. A truly unique gem in the East. Thank you!!

The concept sounds good at first but unfortunately there are lit of tables and not enough waiters. One can not find there the warmth, the generosity and good atmosphere of the Middle East. The food was good indeed with great vegetarian options and great cocktails, but the quality-quantity , bill ratio was not worth it for us. Thanks to that experience I promised myself to keep it to the less gentrified and instagramable places.

The service is truly excellent - the staff is professional, always friendly and attentive. They do everything to please you and ensure fast and polite service. I did not feel like an ordinary customer, but a valued guest. And then the food... that is beyond description! Every dish was a work of art in itself - from the presentation to the taste. The flavors were perfectly balanced, the ingredients super fresh, and every bite was an experience - an absolute taste explosion! In short: a restaurant that effortlessly combines quality, refinement and top service. More than deserving of five stars.

Together with a friend at this cozy tent eaten, the menu was very extensive and very tasty. We also drank delicious wines that were nicely explained to us. All in all a wonderful evening!

Amazing experience at bar Bachrach. I tried the 5 course dinner and it only went better and better during the evening. To start, the fresh homemade bread was hot and soft served with smooth labneh. The aubergine salad was piece of art, a mix of texture and taste. Then comes the chicken, a dish that took 9 years for the chef to perfection and I can say it was perfect. The smoky taste and great spices on the chicken made the difference. The last dish before dessert was a hole dorade with a chimichuri sauce, on the side a beetroot purée and crispy potatoes. Perfect way to end the meal, light, tender like butter, and fresh. To end up this wonderful experience, I had the chance to try a kannaffah which was a super interesting discovery. A dessert combining hot and cold, crispy, cheesy, and melting. This was for me the star of the evening. Thank you again to Samantha for the great service and atmosphere. I will definitely come back 🫡

Amazing place! My favourite dish was the knefe as dessert, I’ve never ate it before, but it immediately became my favourite dessert ever. Unfortunately, you can’t ask for it separately. If that would be possible I would for sure come a lot to just eat that. It beats any baklava on javastraat for me.

One of the few places in Amsterdam where I have been returning for years. In addition to the delicious Middle Eastern dishes, the service here is so nice. The people who work there recognize you when you come there for the second or third time and that really characterizes this restaurant. The dishes seem prepared with love and the atmosphere in the restaurant feels welcome and cozy. The menu changes regularly, so you are always surprised - without losing its individuality. After all these years I am still a fan and recommend everyone to eat here.

I was there with my husband before and the price was per plate. I enjoyed when I went and decided to go with a friend. We saw the menu stated set prices. We asked the server ( lady with curls) about that because I was confused and to be honest I knew it would be overpriced. Her reaction made us feel so uncomfortable…. Not only she got annoyed with our questions on clarification for the price ( it DOES not say per person on the menu) she was also talking to another server about us. It was truly so awkward and uncomfortable. We stayed because we had order drinks already but really added a bad taste to the experience. The food is good but It is unfortunate that this happened.

What an experience! The food was delicious and the atmosphere was just perfect. The service was incredibly helpful, despite it being the waiter's third day. What she did not yet fully master in terms of knowledge, she more than made up for with her friendly and attentive attitude. We also work in the catering industry ourselves, so of course we always look at it with a different eye, but we noticed that she tried very hard. Definitely worth repeating and we would love to come back again!"

Simply unforgettable- full of flavor and beautifully crafted. Every dish is delicious- we were with a group of 8 and all of us were amazed! The ambiance is vibrant yet relaxed, and the service is top-notch. It was an exceptional experience. A must-visit spot for anyone who loves amazing food and great vibes!

Massively overpriced for what you get. Be prepared to pay €110 to share five small plates of food (one of which is bread with dips) with tap water and a soda. They charge 47 per person, to share 5 dishes of food. Not worth it

Samantha and Micha received us very hospitably and even though we had not made a reservation (as local residents), we were assigned a cozy table for a wonderful evening full of culinary surprises. We chose 7 dishes and they were all so mouth-wateringly tasty. It was getting busier around us and we enjoyed that too. Samantha also provided a delicious 0% festive drink and turned out to have invented one of the desserts. Yummie. That made the experience complete. And it was so nice to be able to say thank you for the delicious dishes in the open kitchen. Goodbye.

Had a delicious meal at Bar Bachrach. Actually, I'm not a fan of shared dining because it is often a method to serve less food for the same prices. But you don't have to worry about that here... We couldn't even finish the food. The dishes were all equally good and tasty. Furthermore, a compliment for the very attentive service and pleasant atmosphere - no time slot within which you have to eat, as with many other establishments in Amsterdam. In short: highly recommended and I will definitely come back!

Referred by restaurant next door which was full. We were assigned a very nice table even though we had not made a reservation. Attentive and pleasant service. It was a wonderful journey through their kitchen in 7 unique dishes. Fine wine list with tasty discoveries. Price-quality absolutely good. Top dessert to end with. Highly recommended.

This restaurant offers a really interesting take on middle eastern cuisine. They have a large selection of wines and the overall experience was just fun and unpretentious.

The food here never disappoints. The smoked eggplant is certainly something to come back for. But the service ruins the whole experience. This is clearly due to instructions from management, not due to incompetence of the service itself. It starts by pushing tap water (€4.25 for 45 cl) and bread with dips (€9.50) before you have even seen the menu without telling you how much it costs. While we were waiting for our ordered dishes, our conversation was interrupted twice with the menu and the question if we wanted to order more food. The constant pressure to spend more money makes you no longer sit and eat well. This is something you expect in a tourist trap where no one ever comes back a second time. To top it all off, we had to wait fifteen minutes for the bill after confirmation that it would arrive.

What a happy coincidence that there were just two stools available at the bar. We enjoyed delicious food (best chicken ever!), incredibly friendly service, delicious wines and enjoyed the activity at the bar.

It is always a delight to eat at Bar Bachrach! The decor/atmosphere is a perfect combination of contemporary, relax, welcoming. The new chef is still offering most of the signature dishes that have made the restaurant a return to address and I am happy to say he has introduced new dishes that very likely will become new favourites such as the Grilled Chicken, Dorade Carpaccio and the Portobello Mushroom. Portions are generous, perfect for sharing and good value for your money. The wine list is thoughtfully put together offering an interesting range from which to choose from. The staff is friendly, professional and very attentive. If you haven't been to this hidden gem in the Indische Buurt of Amsterdam, treat yourself soon to a really enjoyable "foodie" experience.

What a wonderful evening, my first time dining at Bar Bachrach, as a guest of my friend. The food was delicious, the staff were friendly and accommodating and it was excellent value for money. The host gave us an especially warm welcome and made a real effort for my friend who was celebrating her birthday. One of the highlights of the evening was their exotic variety of delicious cocktails, unfortunately I couldn't try them all but the tequila sour was to die for. Even though it was a bustling busy Friday night, the service was exceptional . The new chef from Syria added an amazing twist to the incredible tastes which were well balanced and stimulated our taste buds. I will definitely be returning and would advise everyone to try Bar Bachrach, especially if you are celebrating a special occassion, but even if you are not. It was a perfect evening

Perfect ambience, but the positive notes on Bar Bachrach stop there. The restaurant's sharing concept comes with a recommendation of 2/3 rounds of 2/3 dishes each. At average €20/dish, that would have been ridiculously expensive! Before being given the menu, we were asked if we would like to start with some bread. We figured only later that's a €9,5 menu option we got charged for, tasty but didn't appreciate the way it got added in. Menu and taste were overall underwhelming: the dorade carpaccio was barely noticeable under the heavy seasoning (why killing such a delicate taste with so much olive oil?), the grill chicken was dry, the scallops salty and accompanied with a veggie puree that made them soggy. Tahini-like sauces are heavily present in most of the dishes, flattening the experience to that one flavour again and again. Wine selection and service did not save the night. Little adjustments will make for a big improvement, like bringing clean plates with each course. A lot of potential, but a lot of it still unexpressed.

Nice food bar next to the famous Wilde Zwijnen with modern Middle Eastern food. Exciting combinations of ingredients, super tasty dishes and delicious cocktails. Enjoyed it immensely!

Great food but terribly slow service.

We sat on the terrace and overall we liked it. We had some drinks and fingerfood which was all nice. However, service was really slow. It was very difficult to get a waitress to the table even though the place was not busy, it was very frustrating as our glasses were empty half of the time and we wanted to drink more. It was the same on the other tables. I don't know what it is about dutch service but this is just frustrating

Delicious menu! We just felt that the portions were a bit small in relation to the price. We had to wait a long time for our dishes, so everything was served at the same time. Our advice would be not to serve the dishes all at the same time.

Gastvrij; heerlijke shared dining! We waren zeer verrast! Alle gerechten waren zeer smaakvol en in balans We komen zeker terug! Aanrader wanneer je van middel east food houdt! Top!

Inderdaad, subtiele gerechtjes, erg smakelijk. Soms lang wachten, de gerechten komen niet gelijktijdig. Maar dat is eigenlijk niet erg want je deelt hier de gerechten. Dat is gezellig als je met vrienden of je partner bent, maar dat kan niet met iedereen. Wij vonden de prijs-kwaliteit verhouding scheef. De voorgerechten zijn net een snack en de hoofdgerechten lijken meer op een voorgerecht. De prijzen zijn fors en dus niet helemaal in verhouding. Zo opzienbarend is de kookkunst nou ook weer niet..

Bar Bachrach was another restaurant we had on our list and we were not disappointed at all! It has a cozy atmosphere and you can see the chefs working in the kitchen. We had the chef's menu and it was a party... it never ended. Lots of vegetables in the dishes and each dish had its own unique taste. Fresh fish and sauces rounded it all off. The service was nice and fresh. It is worth visiting here! We will definitely go back again..!

We had a lovely casual evening! The place itself is pleasantly designed and the chef menu was great to share in every way: portion size, timing and the culinary combination of new with familiar. Looking forward to coming back.

Price/quality is a bit on the high side, especially considering the quality of Middle Eastern restaurants down the street. Otherwise very tasty, ambiance is warm and excellent service.

The food is so so good. Not many places in Amsterdam manage to keep the food standard this high consistently. 3rd time here now and still 👌🏼👌🏼 Service also amazing + affordable. Might be my favourite in the city.

Recently had an extensive dinner at Bar Bachrach. Upon entering, the pleasant atmosphere in the restaurant is immediately noticeable. Menu consists of mainly Middle Eastern dishes, served in a modern twist. Tasteful and happy here and there, surprisingly enough! The attentive service recommends suitable wines, but don't forget the unique cocktails. In terms of dishes, the menu rotates, but recommendations that you may always find include the fresh whole fish and of course the smoked eggplant - straight from the fire.

The food was very tasty but expensive for the portion sizes, though I do like the sharing concept as you can order a mix of plates to try. The seating is far too cramped with little space between the tables. Additionally, the staff had to climb over our table to retrieve a bottle of wine. By the end of our meal (9pm ish) the music had been turned up far too loud that we had to shout across the table to hear each other.

We've been recommended to eat here a few times and we now completely understand why! We received a super friendly welcome, we enjoyed the unique and delicious dishes and the warm, stylish atmosphere. We were struck by the pleasure and sincerity with which the staff served us. They give that little bit extra out of love and that makes a big difference. Through all this we had a wonderful evening. Supergezellig smaakvol ingericht restaurant met mediterrane /midden oosten keuken. Heerlijk afwisselende gerechten in perfecte porties om te delen. Dus niet een bord met hapklaar gerecht maar meerdere prachtig opgemaakte bordjes om met elkaar van de proeven. Hier ga je heen voor shared dining! De service is hier subliem, ik kom hier al jaren en zie hier altijd mensen werken met eenzelfde passie en energie. Iedereen heeft echt kennis van de gerechten en wijnen, je voelt aan alles dat hier veel tijd in wordt gestopt! Perfect om in de vroege avond te starten met een cocktail van de uitgebreide cocktailkaart en daarna aansluitend te eten. En ook over het interieur is met zo veel liefde en oog voor detail nagedacht. Het is als een smaakvolle warme huiskamer met perfecte service.

Geweldige plek, waar ik graag altijd weer terugkom. Het eten is altijd goed en vernieuwend, de ambiance is onovertroffen. Smaakvol ingericht en de vriendelijkste bediening van Amsterdam. Zeker 1 van mijn lievelingsrestaurants in de stad.

Bar Bachrach is een waar pareltje in Amsterdam Oost - heerlijk verfijnd eten, shared dining, de zeebaars is echt een topper! De bediening is zeer vriendelijk, warm en aandachtig. De inrichting warm en stijlvol. Ik ben onder de indruk. Ik kende Wilde Zwijnen al, ook een toprestaurant trouwens. Mijn twee favorieten restaurants in Amsterdam.

The search was close to Muiderpoort, it had to be informal, it had to be possible to speak audibly and have tasty beers in stock. Food had to be good in every respect. So meat, fish and vegetarian combo. To see whether the service really understood what they were doing, let them choose everything. Actually ticked all the checkboxes and very satisfied. Everyone understands what needs to be done to make people happy. Very tasty meal, great evening. That for 2 men and 160 total. Good price-quality ratio and I really felt like I was in Tel Aviv. I'm going to come back.

Pleasently surprising experience! We had dinner here, and eat more or less the whole menu with four of us. You should and can share the dishes within your table. Food was very good, fusion type with enough flavor. All of the portions did well, and we were full in the end of the dinner. The set up and mood was nice, not too loud, easy to talk in table, dim lights and steady decoration with open view to kitchen. Young staff was polite and taking good care of us. Not all perfect but very solid and thumbs up!!!

Second time here. Atmosphere good. Dishes were all served with a lot of mayonnaise (eggplant, octopus), which we thought was a shame. Also relatively expensive for what you get. The mayonnaise (or yoghurt/labneh-like sauce under the dishes, such as with the eggplant) may have made it more filling, but it detracted from the taste. Also at the expense of, for example, the amount of octopus that was really meager. We would have preferred to see more real 'pieces' of meat on the menu, instead of chicken ragout (again in dough, especially filling), minced meat (neither of which we ordered) and grilled calamari, which turned out to be hard to find on a skewer between the pumpkin and other vegetables. In our opinion, other Middle Eastern restaurants do better in terms of price and quality. We stopped ordering earlier than we would have otherwise and still paid 110 euros, with a shared dessert, but 1 sparkling wine and 1 non-alcoholic sparkling wine (not interesting sandwich with 2 dips, 9.5 euros, water I think 6.5 euros?) . Really too expensive, too bad.

I was invited by friend Paul to pierce a fork here on 24-01-2024. Delicate and surprising Middle East dishes such as smoked eggplant and octopus carpaccio in a shared dining concept. Divine wine and a dessert to die for. Together with the very knowledgeable, attentive and pleasantly informal service, it makes for a very pleasant experience. Really good middle eastern food. Good balance of flavours, not too buttery, not too fat. Just good and fresh. The aubergine is really to die for. Octopus maybe a bit less my favorite but still good. I’ll for sure go back !

A trendy place with a super warm and cozy atmosphere. Real Middle Eastern flavors. An extensive palette of flavors that come together in every dish. The background music, the pleasant guests and the view of the open kitchen ensure a complete and relaxing evening. Good service!

Bar Bachrach is a nice and good restaurant in Amsterdam East. Very friendly service, delicious food, good wine and an interior that makes me happy. Small note: the light at the table could be dimmed more, I just didn't ask for this. But all in all it was a successful evening, I will definitely come back!

Very cozy place, but if there is a Christmas market on your doorstep, why not have mulled wine, hot chocolate and tasty cakes. Your restaurant was packed. A real shame and a missed opportunity.

The hazards drive us tonight to this wonderful place! Google drove us to the next door but it was fully booked. And because our plans were modified, we let the waitresse choose for us. And finally it was a festival and a succession of dishes mixing acids tastes and sweetness, seafood and cold cooked meat. A pure pleasure. Do not hesitate. Close your eyes and let you drive! Bar Bachrach is an authentic experience. F&Y.

Very good Middle Eastern cuisine. All dishes we tried were delicious, especially the cauliflower (vegetarian “calamari”), the Masachan chicken and the knafeh with pistachio ice cream dessert! The dishes are meant to be plates to share and are a bit towards the expensive given the portions. However, we got 4 dishes for 4 people with one dessert each and it was enough food by the end of the dinner. Nice to note all dishes have a vegetarian option! Mixed feelings on the service. The service was friendly and all dishes came fast after ordering but we waited a long time multiple times through the dinner for anyone to come to our table - first to give us the menus after sitting at the table, then later to take our orders for desserts. Overall, still a nice place to try delicious food in a cosy atmosphere!

Cozy neighborhood restaurant with fantastic Middle Eastern food. My husband doesn’t normally like eggplant and he LOVED it here. Fresh Sea Bass was very flavorful. Inventive cocktails and attentive staff. Will definitely be back!

Ondanks dat we gereserveerd hadden was er eigenlijk geen plek voor ons. We kregen we een wiebelige tafel toegewezen waar we niet met z’n allen omheen paste en dus praktisch naast degenen aan de tafel achter ons zaten. De bediening begroette ons vriendelijk, maar was daarna vooral bezig om je de duurste dingen op de kaart aan te smeren. Toen we dat niet direct bestelden was de teleurstelling groot en werd de bediening al een stuk minder vriendelijk. Het concept was ‘shared dining’ (net als alle hippe tenten tegenwoordig) en er werd ons verteld dat we het best drie of vier rondes konden bestellen. Na ronde twee kwam de bediening echter zeggen dat we snel moesten bestellen want de keuken wilde dicht voor hartige gerechten. Toen hebben we maar besloten af te rekenen en thuis nog wat te eten. De rekening was erg hoog voor wat we gekregen hebben. Eten was lekker maar prijs kwaliteit verhouding totaal scheef. Zeker als je de ervaring qua personeel en sfeer meerekent.

Some great food and a lovely intimate atmosphere.

Gisteravond hier gegeten met een vriendin. Werden heel leuk en enthousiast ontvangen. Alles werd uitgelegd en er wordt heel goed voor je gezorgd door t personeel! Toen de eerste gerechten op tafel kwamen waren wij beide al verkocht. Het ziet er prachtig uit en het smaakt ook heerlijk. Hele krachtige en heldere smaken. De bordjes zijn bij ons meer dan leeg gegaan. Sfeer in het restaurant zelf is ook erg ontspannen en rustig. Aankleding is leuk. Enige puntje was dat onze tafel iet wat krap was voor alles, het eten, water en de wijn. Zeker heen gaan als je in Amsterdam bent voor het goede personeel, heerlijk eten en de lekkere wijn!

Ik ben een bofkont met Bar Bachrach om de hoek. Nu hoef ik Oost sowieso niet uit om lekker te eten maar Bachrach is favoriet. Gisteravond at ik er met een vriendin en regelmatig loop ik in m’n eentje naar binnen en zit ik aan de bar voor een moment voor mezelf. Genieten met een hoofdletter g van de gerechten en van de ambiance. Je kunt mij om 3 uur ‘s nachts wakker maken voor het Jeruzalem brood, de gerookte aubergine tahini en de künefe met pistache ijs. Oh, de aubergine tahini… Ik vind het een sfeervol, sexy restaurant, met heerlijk eten, goede wijnen, prettig personeel en een gezellig terras. Een speciale shoutout naar Samantha die in de bediening werkt, met haar bos krullen. Een vriendin maar boven alles een vakvrouw, een horeca vrouw in hart en nieren die in haar element is als ze aan het werk is.

Zeer smaakvolle gerechten wij hadden het bloemkool gerecht, brood met dip en de gegrilde dorade, originele en verrassende smaken met midden oosten specerijen.

Heel lekker eten en super goeie bediening! Werden goed geadviseerd in onze wijn. Kortom, top avond!!

We zijn er een paar weken geleden gaan eten. Eten is erg lekker maar de service was erg matig. De eerste drankjes gingen prima, maar daarna kwam niemand meer langs terwijl de rest van het terras wel bediend werd. We kregen een uur later ons water en hebben een tweede biertje nooit gekregen. We hebben zeker een uur gezeten zonder service en konden niks bestellen terwijl de tafel naast ons wel bediend werd. De bediening keek nooit onze kant op. We hebben ze erop aangesproken en ons werd verteld dat ze niet wisten wat er fout is gegaan. Erg jammer

It’s been a while since I’ve eaten so well out. Everything was so delicious. The atmosphere & decor also worked perfectly and the service was excellent. Will be back!

Smakelijk restaurantje op levendige plek in Oost, misschien een wat ondergewaardeerde buurt. Je vindt hier diverse mezze style gerechtjes, het is allemaal heel smakelijk. Omdat wij met 3 personen shared dining deden, waren de porties wel heel erg bescheiden, zodat we uiteindelijk meer gerechten hadden besteld dan gedacht. De rekening viel dus ook wat hoger uit dan ik zou verwachten. Verder alles goed.

Wow. Just wow. The food was absolutely mind blowing, I have never had such amazing dishes (vegetarian and non vegetarian) in my life, the chefs are truly skilled! The service was brilliant as well, really helpful, down to earth and nice staff. I’ll be going here again. PS try the cauliflower dish!

Hoge verwachting maar teleurgesteld! Heel erg lekker eten en lekkere wijn, en bediening kan wel vriendelijk zijn maar totaal niet huiselijk/oplettend. Dan toch vrij duur, en ook zorgt voor kraanwater te moeten betalen ervoor dat ik niet terugga…

Top avond De evenknie van restaurant de wilde zwijnen. Heerlijk ongedwongen en super lekker eten. De gerookte aubergine was niet te versmaden, maar ook de vis is heerlijk. Wij zaten aan de bar, de barman; Sebastiaan heeft het lekkere eten aangevuld met overheerlijke drankjes . Zijn gin tonic is de beste die ik heb gedronken. Ook het overige personeel was perfect, oog voor de gasten, vriendelijk en gastvrij met zo nu en dan een gezellig praatje zonder dat het vervelend is. Kortom een top avond. Wij komen hier zeker terug.

Geweldig eten! Erg aardige bediening, heerlijke wijn, fantastisch eten met bijzondere smaken, kruiden en combinaties. De kip was het hoogtepunt van de avond: zo lekker, zo absurd mals, beste kip OOIT! Bijzonder en prettig: er wordt ook aan het zetmeel gedacht, iets waar bij zulke goede restaurants vaak wat minder aandacht voor is. Het enige nadeel was dat we een beetje te veel gegeten hebben omdat we alles wilden proeven… We komen zeker terug!

Een heerlijke avond gehad, ik kom zeker terug

Heerlijk eten, leuke sfeer en vriendelijk personeel!

Op aanraden van een lyrische Jigal Krant in zijn podcast, ging ik vol verwachting hier naartoe! Het was allemaal prima verzorgd, eten smaakte goed en zag er goed uit. Minpuntje was de muziek, de playlist ging alle kanten op, van hip hop, naar oriëntaals, naar nat king cole.. dat stoorde mij wel. Al met al zeker een voldoende maar niks spectaculairs in mijn ogen. Zo zie je maar, over smaak valt niet te twisten!

Vorspeisen, Hauptspeise und Nachtisch waren einfach super lecker, die Bedienung war sehr fürsorglich und freundlich. Würde 6 Sterne geben wenn es möglich wäre. Wir kommen wieder!

Heerlijk! Vriendelijke bediening, leuk en comfortabel plekje en heerlijk eten. Bijzondere smaken die je niet vaak tegenkomt. Wij zouden hier zeker nog eens terugkomen!
