Lovely terrace, attentive and pleasantly informal service, a menu with snacks from all corners of the world so that everyone can find something tasty to share. The music inside is a bit loud for my liking, but pleasant on the terrace.

Really cute bar, good menu and friendly staff. It started raining and we got a bit wet because of where we were sitting but the staff brough towels and arranged another spot for us right away.

There's always something on the menu that appeals, especially the cocktails. It's all good without being anything special, a place you can never go wrong.

Lovely terrace. Right in the middle of the hustle and bustle. See and be seen. Perfect for those who want to experience Amsterdam. Surrounded by plenty of other shops and traffic. Paid parking in front, if there's space.

bloody mary was ok but nothing exceptional. spice levels left much to be desired, i could barely taste any tabasco in it. only garnish was a lime despite the fact that it was advertised as also having celery. that said, i do quite like the big tom juice they used, i just wish more had been added to it - especially given the price. overall score: 5/10 - date: 05/12/2025 - price: €12 (ouch) - did i get tipsy? not really

The bar is a bit shady and has a somewhat dingy appearance. I received a warm welcome, excellent service, and spent just under €25 for a craft beer, a "smashburger," and fries.

Nice bar, smiling staff and decent food menu at a nice price. I had a chicken sandwich and a yuzu-mandarin lemonade and honestly? I was very pleasantly surprised, the food tasted amazing, the portion was really huge and the lemonade was decently sweet, nothing wild, but delicious. I definitely recommend going here and experiencing it! (The photo shows only half of the portion because I was very hungry)

Nice pub which usually has space. The food is nice, some portions are quite small for the price you pay (e.g. the tacos). The burgers used to be our favourite but they changed them back in April so not quite as good as before but still very enjoyable. Atmosphere is always very pleasant and attentive staff.

Great local watering hole with typical Dutchbar snacks and a fullenu. More importantly it has an excellent selection of local beers on tap.

Nice place and lovely patio. I come here often and enjoy it. The only downside: you sit close together on the patio, so if someone smokes next to you, the smoke blows right into your face. So, a tip for the establishment: smoke-free patio?

We love this place! Street food from all over the world, so the menu changes from time to time. But there’ll be always hamburgers! The restaurant is in the middle of JavaStraat and what is called Indischebuurt, or the “Indian” neighborhood, which refers to its streets and buildings all having Indonesian names, and where the population is mostly that, and Turkish, and Syrian, and all kinds of immigrants, so the place is filled with shops, halal butchers, green grocers, cafes, etc. Anyway, Bar Basquiat is one of those hidden gems that you’ll be happy to have made the trip to oost.

A super nice and cozy place! Despite the crowds, we were helped very well and quickly. The employees are very sweet, enthusiastic and hospitable. They were constantly walking around checking if everything was in order at the tables. The food came quickly and was delicious. One boy really stood out; he was so sweet and friendly, a real winner!

Cozy terrace with delicious food! Everything was great last time! This time we had to wait a very long time for our food (>1 hour). Tip: inform customers that it will take longer, for what reason) and with a time indication. Now we received an apology afterwards. Also nice. But if you indicate it while waiting, there will be more understanding. In the end the food was delicious again! Satay is really our favorite, but the loaded fries and tacos were also delicious! The atmosphere was also great!

Don’t do the taco Tuesday. Basquiat has nice drinks and good options for non alcoholic drinks. The staff is also lovely and always checking if people miss/need anything. Too bad the food doesn’t reflect the same. We went for the Taco Tuesday event they have and we were quite disappointed. The tacos are not tacos, but wraps, the flavours are just meh, I can even make them better. They were not very fancy or tasty except for the Barbacoa one which was good. And on top of that, the price they advertise as “good deal” is literally one taco aka one tortilla. So in the end people are not paying a good price after all, but rather paying just for the normal price of one tortilla. Bummer. Perhaps tacos is just not their thing, perhaps they could try a different dish / change recipe

Upon arrival, We were greeted by a waitress who radiated friendliness and politeness. Though her name escapes me, I recall it starting with a "D." Now, onto the star of the show: We had the Cheese Burger with Bacon. The patty was flawlessly seasoned, moist, and cooked to perfection. However, what truly captured my attention was the struggle of the bun to contain the burger's juiciness. Far from being a flaw, this only added to the burger's allure, making each messy bite all the more enjoyable. Bar Basquiat has undoubtedly earned its place as a culinary must-visit in Amsterdam. Beyond the delectable food, it's the warm hospitality of the staff, particularly the waitress with the elusive name, that adds to its charm. Whether you're a local or a traveller passing through, a visit to Bar Basquiat promises a memorable gastronomic experience coupled with genuine hospitality.

Staff very accommodating and food was of a very high standard. We came for breakfast and enjoyed it so much we came back the very next day.

Hidden gem in the east of Amsterdam

This is a really excellent place to grab something to eat. So good, in fact, we paid two visits to it during our recent four-day stay in Amsterdam. Our first visit was for a late lunch, where had sandwiches (beef and pork belly) and fries. Both were really tasty and the fries portion was spot on. A couple of days later we popped in for breakfast (scrambled eggs on toast, and a Croque Madame) and no complaints again. We would gone for a further breakfast on our last morning if we had left our hotel in time. We thought about going in late one evening but headed home instead. The place looked lively, though. A good selection of beers, wines and cocktails are on offer. All of the staff we met on both of our visits were incredibly friendly and nicely chatty.

Myself and my partner had a delicious meal there tonight. The cheeseburger and sticky tempeh bowl were both delicious and the fries were perfect. We were served by Joel who was incredibly accommodating and made our night a delightful one.

Great food and drinks! The service is a little slow, but other than this everything is really great here.

I might be biased, as this has become my local bar, but I love it. The bartenders are incredibly experienced and talented, and the servers are super efficient and charismatic. The chefs are awesome, too! The cuisine is a mix between Asian and some Dutch bar snacks. Honestly, I've been coming here for 3 years, and I've NEVER been disappointed.
