I am writing this message with cheeks flushed with shame. I take a seat at the back of the shop with my two children. Inside, it was completely empty; however, there was one family eating and one lady with a cup of coffee. The outdoor terrace wasn't busy either — very favorable, I thought. There was absolutely no interaction, so I walked to the front and asked for a cappuccino; I paid for it immediately. After waiting 20 minutes, I walked to the front again and asked if everything went well with my ‘coffee’ order. The barista looked at me with frustration, and I replied: it’s busy, just a moment! Clear; then I’ll wait a little longer. I walked back to my children, looked around, and thought: busy? There’s not a soul in here; I don’t quite understand this. Next, another lady walked to the back and asked if I wanted to order something. I indicated that I had been waiting for a cappuccino for a long time, that 25 minutes had passed by now, and that I wondered exactly what was going on. The older lady with black hair looked at me with frustration and said: I do not accept this tone. Bewildered, I responded: what tone exactly? I asked a reasonable—especially clear—question, without insulting you at all. She thought otherwise. I got up, got my children ready, and asked for a refund. If this is (and remains) the attitude of the ladies who evidently take no pleasure in their work in the hospitality industry, then I certainly won't be coming back! Tip: go to Brownies & Downies (which is across the street); there you are always very warmly welcomed by the staff and the owner, and the coffee there is delicious!

Yesterday (24-08-2026) there was an incredibly grumpy woman working. So unfriendly that we left early, and several other customers were bothered by it. Very strange that you can behave like that at work.

Very disappointing brunch experience. We ordered French toast for €8, but received just one small piece of toast, a little cream, and only two blueberries. When we questioned the portion, we were told that this is “common in Europe.” We live in Germany and have visited many cafés across Europe, so we found this response quite dismissive. For €8, we expected much better value and a reasonable portion.

Rip off cafe - ONE french toast costs 9 euros and when asked about it she says it’s the franchise price and thats how it works in Europe!!!!!! Would never recommend!

I ordered the French toast and was honestly very disappointed. It was just a single regular slice of toast, not brioche as expected with topping. For €8.15, I found the portion and quality very underwhelming and definitely not worth the price.

This morning I had an oat cappuccino with a savory croffel. I was served quickly. It is also a nice place if you just want to have a cup of coffee on your own.

What an incredibly nice and lovely lunchroom we have found in Zwolle! We come here regularly now and always feel welcome, and the service is good. The food is tasty, and the dishes are unique and very flavorful. Highly recommended!

this is a cute place with tasty food. i had the hartige croffle, a croissant waffle with goat cheese, honey and walnuts. to drink i had the tropical sunset mocktail. it was definitely less intense than the image in the menu. i also tasted the eggs benedict which was delicious.

Atmospheric and cozy place in the city center of Zwolle. We sat on the terrace. Had a delicious lunch there for a reasonable price, although we did have to wait a bit longer for our order.

Unfortunately, another bad experience. A while ago, I came for breakfast and wasn't allowed to order a glass of tap water, not even alongside the breakfast I ordered. I absolutely had to pay extra for something else to drink! Ridiculous. Old review: I come here often because it's a cozy spot, but the service is always mediocre. Arrived at 10:30 (it was still quiet) and luckily the drinks arrived reasonably quickly because of that. We wanted to order breakfast right away but “her colleague would be right there.” Not so, but after half an hour we were finally able to. Don't promise that your colleague will be right there to help us if we then still have to ask 2 different colleagues ourselves if we can order something. The food is also often not very fresh. I understand that it's mainly about the coffee, but if you offer dishes that are quite pricey, you should be able to expect some quality.

The iced coffee from Isino is very tasty. It's also a nice place to sit; it's cozy. However, one member of the staff is quite stressed and grumpy. That is a real shame.

We visit Zwolle regularly, but had never been to Barista Cafe. We can now tell you that this certainly wasn't the last time! We thoroughly enjoyed a delicious lunch. Moreover, there is still plenty on the menu that we would love to try, both in terms of food and drinks!

Bad shop, they rip you off for a matcha. Last time we got the matcha in a normal-sized glass. When we came back, we got a small mini glass that you can take two sips from. When we asked if this was right, the waiter said no, that's not right, this belongs in a large normal glass. Eventually, we came back again and it was in a small glass again. Now they say that it's supposed to be like that and that it apparently only applies to this matcha. I asked the barista if this was correct and he gave me an attitude. I'm not coming here again because I'm not paying 6 euros for a matcha that only holds three sips.

Nice little place with friendly staff, but the food was very disappointing. Eggs Benedict: cold eggs, not freshly prepared, with bacon (for an extra charge) that was also cold and therefore not freshly cooked. The portion wasn't particularly generous either.

It's a great place for lunch or just a drink. On busier days, it can take a little longer to get served and your food or drink. The staff is very friendly, though.

Had a wonderful breakfast here. The banana bread was a bit disappointing, but everything else was delicious. There's plenty of seating in the morning, and the service is both quick and friendly. All in all, highly recommended and definitely worth a return visit.

Fancy a coffee? Then you've come to the right place. They have a huge selection of coffee and tea specialties. It must be said, however, that the "regular" coffee isn't much bigger than an espresso. The price isn't reasonable either, but the other prices are in line with the market. I ordered apple pie with it, and boy, it's truly superior. I haven't had one like this very often, except "at home" or at Dudok in Rotterdam back in the day. Delicious. The service, well, the staff is friendly, but very businesslike. I think the staff could use a slightly smarter route, instead of pushing between the tables, which are crowded together. Clearing the table could also be a bit quicker, as the pigeons know exactly where to go, and if two employees say to each other that "there are a lot of them now," the pigeons' visits are something that happens more often.

What a wonderful lunch experience! The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, making us feel instantly welcome. I had the croffles with avocado and a poached egg, which were truly fantastic and beautifully presented. My husband opted for a pinsa, which was also delicious and fresh. A lovely place to relax and enjoy a delicious lunch. We'll definitely be back!

One of my favorite places to go. Fantastic service, excellent coffee, and delicious food. Highly recommended: the coffee specials! They're a hit, in my opinion. I hope I'll return for the Snickers latte or stroopwafel latte; they were also fantastic.

Service was mediocre, took a long time, and they seemed irritated, even though there were only five people on the patio (and no one inside). The cupcakes we ordered were delicious, melted, and warm.

Enjoyed a Barista breakfast today. There was a lot to choose from, and everything was delicious. The cappuccino was also delicious, and everything was served with a big smile! Highly recommended for breakfast or lunch if you're in Zwolle. If I'm ever in Zwolle again, I'll definitely stop by for lunch.

A place in Zwolle in a busy location. Nice in itself, but rather unusual that they only serve snacks after 2:30 PM, and you can't order anything after 3:30 PM. I wouldn't put anything on the menu then. The service was also very slow, and we had to ask for the menu after about a 15-minute wait...yes, and it wasn't busy at the time. Then the drinks: they simply weren't good enough. There was an overabundance of caramel at the first sip. It was unstirred at the bottom. It's strange that if you order a blender coffee, it's not blended anymore; I think that's best for the taste. The special pistachio latte...expensive, not great. Chunks in your coffee because of the strange pistachio shape they use, and it lacks flavor. It's unpleasant and stiff to drink. It doesn't have the good coffee flavor that comes through, and it lacks any real quality. They also said there was white chocolate in it? That was really lacking in flavor. All in all, not good enough, especially not for the price. It has potential, but it's still lacking in service and some finishing touches.

Today I got a delicious ice cream late. Staff is friendly. Air conditioning in the store. Toilets are nice and clean. They also have many alternative milk options which is nice.

Lovely seated on the terrace. Enjoy the sun and enjoy delicious food and drinks. We noticed that the staff was not at all concerned with the guests and that they were constantly talking to each other, but they did not have time to clear tables.

May 2025. We come here every month, but unfortunately you notice that the quality is really deteriorating. It remains a lovely terrace in the sun, but the coffee is no longer as tasty (watery, not spicy) as it was, neither is the apple pie (watery, tasteless and without a crispy crust) and without indicating it, whipped cream from a wholesale syringe was also served with the apple pie (which we would not have ordered if we had known this). Really a shame. The club sandwich was fine by the way. September 2024: we come here regularly, but so far the least experience. Coffee suddenly has an aftertaste and is not spicy, not what we are used to here and even the apple pie was really less, little taste and watery. Shame. € 18.50 for 2 coffees with fresh apple pie with whipped cream is fine, but of course not if the quality deteriorates! Rather…. Always a great cappuccino with apple pie. Nice place and cozy terrace. It took a bit of time, but that is more the rule than the exception these days. June 2019: today it was 30 degrees on the terrace in a lovely cooling breeze. Service smooth and delicious apple pie. September 2021: good experience again, delicious coffee and cake on the terrace. April 2022: lovely sitting on the terrace again.

Had a high tea with 8 people. It was delicious! Super tasty snacks, tea water was always refilled, there was so much to eat that we couldn't eat it all. No problem, a doggy bag was brought and the leftovers could be taken home. The avocado sandwich was recommended, so delicious!

We were vacationing in Zwolle and had breakfast at the Barista Café. We had the barista breakfast and the croissant waffle, also known as the croiffle. 🙂 We found both beautifully presented and delicious, and the service was friendly and attentive. I'm deducting a star for the ambiance because, upon our arrival, a table had apparently been abandoned for a while and hadn't been cleared promptly. On the table, two pigeons were enjoying two glasses of whipped cream, shaking their heads so hard that they repeatedly splattered cream all over the surrounding tables and chairs. One particularly affected chair then played musical chairs at various tables during our stay. 🙈 It was entertaining for US. 😏

We had the homemade smoothie (very tasty) and the Nachos deluxe. Tasty, but too bad the sauces were more or less "whipped up"; We would rather have these separately so you don't have to eat a sauce. Otherwise we had a great time there.

Truly a great lunch, but I still have a lot of trouble with the fact that payment can only be made here by card. As an entrepreneur, I believe that you should accept all types of (legal) means of payment. Especially for small amounts to pay for a coffee or lunch. For that reason also one/two star(s) less. Unfortunately, for this reason I would not come again anytime soon.

Whenever we go to Zwolle, there is always a good chance that we will have lunch here. Somehow there is always a spot available. Tasty lunch, lots of different choices (which also change regularly) and nice people. Recommended!

Very bad cafe I really don’t recommend it to anyone I ordered squeezed lemon with water and salt and their brain didn’t understand it even when I explained for two times and they brought me a water with small piece of lemons insides and I didn’t expect to drink it and they didn’t even apologise

Nice place, in the best city, with supurb coffee.

All kinds of coffee, juices, cakes and savouries. Also suitable for sandwiches/salad and lunch. Usually very busy on weekends and then you get the feeling that you are sitting at the table with the neighbors. Not cheap, but tasty. The decor is attractive. Play area for the children available. Right in the city center, so no parking space in front of the door.

The coffee is excellent, both the flat white and the capuccino. But for supplying a small glass of tap water, the otherwise friendly service charges 50 cents per glass. When asked, this is not done everywhere at Barista, but it is done in Zwolle. These big-city antics in a provincial capital are reason enough for us to have our next coffee somewhere else.

This place has the best drinks and some very solid food options as well. Service is overal very good and they're pretty fast. However, I can't rate this 5 stars because I wouldn't say it is very neurodivergent friendly. It is VERY loud inside and it does often feel a bit cramped. I like to check the menu beforehand if I want to have food as well, as I like to be prepared which helps with anxiety. However, when I asked for their Barista Breakfast, they told me they don't serve it after 12 (it was about 12:30). While this is absolutely fine, the issue is that this wasn't listed in both their physical AND digital menu. This abrupt change in plans was something I really struggled with, so it would be great if this can be changed!

The worst piece of banana bread I've ever had. So dry and without taste as if it had been there for a week. How can you sell this? It's a real shame I didn't take a photo of your crumbly banana bread. Then everyone could see it here...

I regularly come for lunch or a cup of coffee at Barista Café in Zwolle. During my last visit it was a bit busier and I was slightly bothered by the acoustics. Besides that, the interior is attractive and the menu always offers a nice, varied selection. Compliments to the sweet and alert employees!

Just had a cup of coffee in this large and attractively decorated barista cafe. The coffee was very tasty, but very expensive (€ 3.90) per cup. These are prices for the big city, so not in proportion. Had a lovely lunch. The staff are very friendly and hospitable.

Very good coffee and friendly service. The café is a long, narrow tube with no natural light. It is very loud. The staff often carries clattering crockery boxes and full garbage bags through the narrow central aisle. There is a play area, but it is placed directly behind a single table. Whoever sits there is besieged by strange children, while shy children don't dare play with strangers. The idea of ​​the cake tasting plate is nice, but in reality it's 3 x 2 bites of some cake that was probably left over, with some dry edges too. That's a bit cheeky for almost €10.

Ik had een Wrap besteld. Van te voren gevraagd of deze melkvrij gemaakt kon worden en dat was geen probleem. Ook toen ik mijn wrap had ontvangen nogmaals gevraagd of het melkvrij was en er werd verteld dat het melkvrij zou zijn. Helaas toch een heftige allergische reactie gekregen kort na het eten waardoor we snel naar huis zijn gegaan. Toch erg jammer dat ik door een fout van een ander, nu een allergische reactie heb gekregen.

Een gezellig barista bar met vriendelijke bediening. De cappuccino is erg lekker en de appeltaart is vlak van smaak. De sfeer is een dikke plus in de barista bar. Je ziet dat iedereen zich voelt alsof ze thuis zijn.

Op zaterdagochtend uitgebreid ontbeten. We hadden de uitgebreide ontbijtplank. Heel lekker en vers! Lekkere yoghurt en super koffie! Het roerei met tomatenchutney (?) had voor mij niet gehoeven. En een halve croissant oogt wat sneu. (Een minicroissantje zou mi gepaster zijn) Veel jonge gezinnetjes met kinderen: gezellig druk zo s morgens. En het was gezellig druk. Bediening was vriendelijk en prima.
