Dirty tables. You have to wait for your order at the bar. No one serves. No one cleans up. Tables aren't cleaned. A huge, filthy mess. Worse than a student house.

What an incredibly slow process. Terrible service.

The coffee and tea were fine, but the Black Forest cherry and apple-cinnamon muffin were very dry and not fresh.

Fantastic location, but the staff seems to be auditioning for "Zwolle's most disinterested look." Clutter and filth continue to plague the dining experience, and the restrooms... well, they're an adventure you'd rather not embark on.

We had delicious specialty coffees, one with amaretto, the cappuccino with an extra shot, and both with whipped cream. The amaretto was lukewarm, though the flavor was good. The price, however...almost €14 combined...probably "big-city prices." Conveniently, you can order and pay via QR code, and there's more selection online than on the menu. The place looks neat, with restrooms down a flight of stairs, and seating and workspaces there as well. A tip: use slightly sturdier toilet paper; it breaks easily, and you'll end up digging in the dispenser.

Great place to study with coffee and cake, very well located in the city center. The service was excellent! We came for breakfast, the food was fine, nothing special, but sufficient :) I personally didn't find the chai strong enough; it tasted more like coffee, unfortunately. I recommend everyone go for a long walk, but not for lunch or breakfast; there are much better options in Zwolle 🫶🏼😌

The downside is that the quality is good, the selection is wide, and the location is great on Melkmarkt. It's a large building, so it has to serve a lot of customers. It's understaffed, and when it's busy, it's practically impossible to handle. It's just not fun having to wait half an hour for your friend to enjoy a cup of coffee.

Great location. Friendly staff. We have a loyalty card, so we often go here. It's a shame, though, that the whipped cream is on top of the coffee. Sometimes the coffee gets cold because of the whipped cream. Perhaps they could serve the whipped cream separately in a small bowl.

I had ordered a delicious Sunny Melon, which turned out to be only half full. Still a good review because the manager solved it very neatly. Everyone makes mistakes, it's about how it is solved afterwards. Well done Douwe Egberts!

Very nice coffee shop, plenty of choice, relaxed atmosphere

Had a lovely cup of coffee in the morning because I had to take shelter from the rain. A simple question about where I could leave my umbrella was answered promptly and thought along with. The coffee tasted at least twice as good because of that. If you are walking and need shelter from the rain? Then the DE Café is definitely recommended. With cheerful energy - Bart -

Bought a promotion card for 25,- 10 times coffee. However, pay attention to the date! Apparently there is an end time. I find that strange. I just paid for it: nothing free or anything. There was nothing to talk about.

We had a nice afternoon coffee here along with a delicious Black Forest Cake. The place is spacious and well lit. Overall, it was a pleasant experience. It's worth a visit in the Grote Market, Zwolle.

Situated in a beautiful location in the middle of the city. Large in surface area. Prefer cozy seats with some separation. But practical of course. Had a nice coffee.

The whole thing has the atmosphere of a biological laboratory, ordering is complicated, but not paying: the prices are high. The teenage staff are mainly interested in themselves and their mobile phones. Any other thing is better.

I study here every week, but I am always shocked by the prices that are asked. A simple flavored soft drink costs almost 5 euros! I have no objection to paying for something, but the experience surrounding it also plays a role. Ordering via a QR code or picking up your order yourself and standing in line, and then asking such prices... If you are served at the table and your order is taken, then I understand. But now that is not the case. They soullessly bring your order to your table, without any interest, conversation or interest in the guest. That doesn't justify the high price. The only reason why I study here is the long opening hours.

Nice location. We were unable to order with QR. (Might be the age). Asked for help but they had no time for us. This is not that difficult was the answer. Fortunately, there are more addresses for a cup of coffee that are customer-friendly. Just left. Thanks for the response, but I don't dare come in here anymore.

Nice cafe in Zwolle city center. Very big and a lot of freelancers and students love to spend time there.

It has become my and my husband's favorite café when we go into town. Friendly staff and lots of different nice corners to sit in on different floors. Upstairs from the window there is a beautiful view over the Grote Markt. Cappuccino is tasty and a hot chocolate okay. Not the greatest unfortunately. I can't say anything about the food because we have never eaten anything there, although it all looks delicious.

Cozy atmosphere and beautiful location. We had the Gingerbread Cappuccino and the Heavenly Hazelnut Deca. These were a little too sweet for my taste and with a little too much whipped cream, but it will definitely please the sweet tooth.

There are 4 large fully automatic machines and you can still wait until you weigh an ounce. The ladies are probably doing their best, the problem is the lack of a thorough training period, I guess. The girl behind the cash register forgot my complicated order of 2 chocolate milk and 1 coffee 5 times. And then I waited another 10 minutes while there was only 1 person in front of me. This is even slower than manual work, it is really very special. It is also a big mess, there is no leadership at all. It's that I have a stamp card, I would never go here, especially not with those ridiculous prices they dare to charge. Do yourself a favor and go to a real coffee shop with passion and love for coffee instead of this canteen.

The service and atmosphere are top and cozy. It's also very nice that they are open in the evening and you can still have a cup of coffee here in Zwolle. The chocolate milk is delicious and you get a cookie with it. 4 stars because the coffee sometimes tastes a bit burnt.

Ate 2 sandwiches in Zwolle; grilled brie sandwich and a grilled cheese sandwich from €9.30 and 8.95. The cheese sandwich in particular was a shame. 2 slices of bread with a slice of melted cheese, a piece of lettuce and 2 dry cucumber slices. The quality is not in proportion to the price.

Nice cafe for a coffee breakfast or lunch. You can have a nice chat or work there and it is nice and warm. Coffee specials are definitely recommended.

I can always sit and work here, meet colleagues and hold meetings. The coffee is delicious, the food is perfect, the atmosphere is the very best, and the wonderful staff makes the whole experience complete. I really recommend the Baguette ham with honey mustard sauce.

The location is beautiful. The furnishings too. Only 4.65 for a medium cappuccino? Bizarre. On the Belgian coast I thought it was expensive at €4.20. But there was also whipped cream or even a liqueur. Just a mini cookie here. Unfortunately, a one-time visit for me.

We ordered coffee + a pastry with 4 people. We had to wait a while and then got our coffee and chocolate milk. There was one caramel and one not. The waiter had said wrong which was which, so it was switched. Our coffees and cakes were there except for 1 cookie. The waiter said it was coming. After asking twice and after we had finished our coffee and pastries, we took another look. Our question was then answered very rudely and it was quickly handed to us. Service is not good.

Very nice, they occasionally have offers on Social Deal. The one from now (10-2024) is a really great offer. 10x medium coffee for €25. This applies to all types of coffee, including the specials!

coffee tastes good and cake is tasty, whipped cream is of poor quality. Cheap whipped cream from a spray can with a watery taste. For the price you expect real whipped cream. Coffee is lukewarm.

Delicious cup of coffee, extremely friendly and hospitable service. The young man looks like a young brother of James Acaster, British comedian and movie star (Latest Ghost Busters). And made a movie for my niece, with the Showmasters tune!

Went with my 2 children with a social deal. Very friendly and nice service. It is really made for the catering industry. Something went wrong with the order, which we didn't find a problem. Yet it was repaired without any questions. Had a very nice visit.

Coffee is fine, but unfortunately not nice and hot. The furnishings are top notch. But the toilets are rarely clean, as are the floors. Due to the QR code order, you hardly have any contact with the staff and the contact that there is... well, a customer friendliness course would be a good idea. Especially for the prices they ask, I expect more from the quality and hygiene

The €1,80 per hour for working there is absolutely ridiculous. Edit: Yes, even with the first hour being free after ordering something, it’s still equally ridiculous. Would come here regularly to work (and have one of those overly expensive coffees, yep, crazy right), but haven’t returned one single time since the introduction of that fee.

Just placed an order online for home delivery, great service! very nice employees. I ordered something that was out of stock, but it was resolved very well and the order was delivered nice and warm! in other words a very nice experience and definitely worth repeating!!!!

You can pick up your order yourself outside on the terrace. The selected coffee is fine. There are too many tables and chairs for the size of the terrace. It takes a lot of effort to take a seat on the right side of the terrace. It's a pity that you constantly smell the stench of the street sewer.

€3.70 for a simple cup of tea, a nutty toffee cappuccino that doesn't taste like nuts and toffee. There is rubbish on the table everywhere on the terrace and the chairs are mixed up. Bird droppings on almost every table (nothing was cleaned up during the time we were here). This is quite a shame.

Even though the prices are absurdly high. (cup of tea almost 5 euros) I still thought it was a nice place to study. However, you now have to pay an amount per hour to be allowed to sit there with your laptop...

I have previously had an enjoyable experience with the cupcakes here, but on my last visit, I was left sitting at my table and no staff member approached me to take my order. As a result, I had to stand up and take the initiative to order myself. I was disappointed by the lack of service in this regard.

Solid coffee, tea is ok (too expensive, just as everywhere). Was really disappointed they didn't have a changing table for babies... Well, maybe they can upgrade that, would help a lot of (young) parents.

After having enjoyed studying here for some time, this place has fallen to the wayside for me. Time and time again the drink prices were raised, which I can still understand. But now I have also received the message that you are only allowed to use a laptop if you also pay extra per hour. This is a ridiculous reason. I can understand that you have to order something to sit there, but paying an hourly rate in a place that called itself a living room is not acceptable to me. When I wanted to discuss this, I was told that this is the case because Douwe Egberts is the only place where you are still allowed to study and that this is the new rule. All in all, Douwe Egberts has become increasingly commercial and it no longer feels welcoming to be there and relax.

I used to like coming here, but the service is terribly bad! It's a nice place, but otherwise it's like a fast food restaurant. You can order via the QR code. However, items are regularly missing from the menu. You can order them at the bar, but don't count on them bringing it to your table. No, you will be given a pager and you can walk up two flights of stairs yourself. What kind of service is that?! Even though the prices are very high (€ 4.65 for a regular coffee). Now you also have to pay € 1.80 per hour if you work with a laptop. Finally, the tables and chairs are very dirty. There is little clearing and cleaning. Not even when you receive your order. I came here every Sunday to go through some assignments for work/school. Since the new policy of €1.80 per hour to sit, I will never come here again. I enjoyed a delicious breakfast/lunch here every week and a number of cups of cappucino throughout the day, which I always thought was great. It is time to find a new place in Zwolle that welcomes working students.

They will also come and check whether you have paid. The cafe is already more expensive than other cafes in the area, so I will probably look for another place to study, but I'm sure I'm not the only one.
