€11.10 for a coffee and a hot chocolate. There was no service. The toilets were filthy and the seat was sagging. Why would you go to such an establishment?

The coffee was too expensive and lukewarm.

In my opinion, this café is the best place in Zwolle's city center to unwind. Unlike the Stadkamer or any random bistro, at the DE-café you are provided with comfort and a wide selection of delicious teas and coffees. The café at the Anno Museum is similar, but small. Three stars, because the toilets looked like a typical monkey cage from the Apenheul. After a brief observation, I noticed that the entire city center of Zwolle uses the toilets here for free, and that this leads to antisocial behavior. This must come to an end. The hygiene is substandard, and the guests who relieve themselves here are unaccustomed to any decency. Lock it up. Coin system. Learn from McDonald's.

Me and my friend went there to get a coffee. The ambience is amazing and the staff is very nice. We ordered a Heavenly Hazel and a caffè latte. It was really good. There is place in the outdoor and indoor. An amazing place for coffee❤️

Coffee at the neighbors (Maxim’s) is much better. Still, quite disappointing for a specialty coffee shop. Seating is the only plus point, but the prices & self-service keep me away. No added value to Zwolle's city center, if you ask me.

The chocolate cake was delicious. If you want to use the toilet here, you have to go down the stairs, which is not very convenient if you have a physical disability.

€9.80 for 3 ready-made microwave pancakes; you should be utterly ashamed of yourselves. Perhaps it would be a good idea to mention this on the menu. The service, however, was good.

Cup of tea with fresh ginger is great!!!!! Comfortable sofa on the terrace, lots of possibilities inside for working (laptop), among other things.

Large café with plenty of seating. Large breakfast platter. Friendly service. The cappuccino is delicious and hot. Relaxed atmosphere. Plenty of seating is also available for working.

I come here regularly to enjoy my coffee and tea, but something happened today. I ordered a ginger tea from one of the employees and asked her to add a little extra ginger. She told me she would have to charge it as a 'double,' so I ended up paying the price of two cups of tea just for one cup with a bit of extra ginger. It’s not about the money for me, but this kind of treatment is simply not appropriate for a place like this. Thank you.

I found it very disappointing. I had the healthy pistolet, but the bread was dry and hard, like it was from yesterday.

Ordered a hot ham sandwich...1st time cold ham...went back...get a new one 2 seconds later...cold ham again...turns out they shove a fully prepared sandwich into an oven here to serve it 40 seconds later....NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!! I DID GET MY MONEY BACK, THANK YOU.

Nice place to drink good coffee in the center of Zwolle. Unfortunately, the whole place looks grubby. Tables are not cleared, toilets are sometimes dirty. Windows are not clean. But worst of all, the cloth used to clean the bar is also used to touch up the cappuccino cup before serving. In other words, spreading bacteria to the customer. No go.

Perfect place to come alone or with friends for a cup of coffee with a sandwich or treat. You can sit here and chat comfortably, but you can also certainly grab your laptop and work pleasantly.

Truly disgusting. The restrooms look like a repair shop where the only solution would be a pressure washer. The lights don't work in the restrooms, which could be considered a plus, considering they're truly awful. The rest is a complete mess, tables are filthy, and then you pay a premium to have to collect your own coffee and clear your table.

It's a big location, you can find a place for both the company and the work. BUT.. This is the first place I was given a sugar matcha. I don't eat sugar, I felt nauseous later. I ordered a normal matcha and a protein matcha cocktail. It was so sweet that it was hard for me to drink it. Order online, you can't leave a comment there. Change it, please

Coffee prices are unnecessarily higher than usual, but still worth for a whole nice atmosphere and cosy venue.

Delicious coffee and a wide selection of pastries. A cozy atmosphere and good service. Several floors offer seating. It's also a great choice for social media or work. It's a great place to catch up with friends or family, or simply to get out and about. Good-quality tokens/coffee with optional toppings are also available. This branch has an anti-food waste policy, so broken pastries are sold at 50% off. There are also several outlets for charging devices. In short, a cozy and high-quality café worth visiting.

I've often gotten my coffee here before or during work, and I find it incredibly frustrating that so many mistakes are made. I often get a different size coffee than usual, even if I order the same one. The plant-based milk options are fantastic (I'm lactose intolerant), but they're often mixed up. Because of the confusion and distracted staff, you can sometimes wait a very long time for a single drink, or you get the wrong one. Not ideal if you can't have milk. The staff is friendly, but they're understaffed and/or chat too much. Waiting customers can hear everything, even when something goes wrong. Ultimately, it's a shame, because it's an accessible café with pricey coffee.

Great location and good coffee. A great place to work on your laptop. Tip: If the glasses or cups for a latte or cappuccino were warm, the coffee would be hotter and even tastier 😊

Bad service, bad coffee. The latte macchiato was just a bad latte. And then there was the tea that wasn't worth the money. Over €3 for a glass of hot water without a cookie, sugar, etc. Sad. Once but never again. The cause is probably: Unskilled staff.

I never had to wait that long for a stupid coffee anywhere and if you think you can get chocolate milk for €4 that comes from a cardboard box and is only heated, I would go to the store and get it there and make it yourself, it will be even cheaper

A pleasant DE, but unfortunately, our coffee was stone cold. Not cold like iced coffee, but a regular cup of hot coffee served cold. Disappointing!

Well, the place in Nice has good coffee, but the spoon was too small for stirring drinks, and some music would help to mask the staff noise. The tiramisu was okay, not amazing but passable. I was about to give 4 stars, but the toilet needs to be cleaned, so I'm giving it 3 stars

I went for a drink because it was cold and snowy. The staff was lethargic, and I found the whole atmosphere chaotic and confusing. They didn't seem motivated; it was as if they didn't feel like it or couldn't handle it. This was the opposite of previous experiences at THE café in Zwolle. However, the biggest disappointment was the €6.15 per person for a medium-sized warmed chocolate milk (from a carton) with a dollop of whipped cream and a mini cookie thrown onto a tray. For that price, table service and table clearing would have been nice.

It's great that you can order your coffee with a QR code! The quality is excellent. However, the service is a bit less personal. So, there are pros and cons.

Too disgusting for words. Yes, the glasses were clean before the coffee went in. That was about all that was clean. Windows dirty, almost impossible to see outside. Latte: too weak. Mint tea: watery. We even had to go back for extra sprigs. Floor covered in crumbs and cake. You could eat off the floor, there was plenty of it. Why pay almost five euros per slice of cake only to park it on the floor? Seriously? Bill: €34 for 2 lattes, 1 mint tea, 3 slices of cake. Service: 10 minutes in line, place half empty. Hygiene: inadequate. Service: slow. Value for money: poor. Not welcoming. Not fresh. Not again. Advice to you: move on. Advice to the owner: clean first, then serve. And be quick with the coffee.

We've been coming here for about four or five years now. The service is good and the coffee is delicious. We also occasionally get a tasty toasted sandwich. We always come here when we're out and about in the city center. My husband and I are very satisfied.

Had coffee and smoothies. Excellent! Friendly service and easy ordering with a QR code on the table. Nice seating with sofas and comfortable chairs. Multiple floors provide plenty of seating. The restrooms are very dirty. A musty smell, and by the end of the day, there was no toilet paper left in the ladies' room, nor any paper to dry your hands. Toilet paper is also everywhere on the floor. It could be better replenished throughout the day.

Expensive, but the only coffee shop in Zwolle that is open until 10 p.m.

The three of us were sitting in this café. We didn't like it. The pumpkin spice was brought without a cookie and whipped cream, even though we ordered them. The waiter was 12 years old and did everything in a frantic manner. The terrace was dirty and messy. Because no one was cleaning it, a lot of pigeons came, which were very annoying. Because no one on the staff cared about the dirty terrace, even more pigeons came. They were eating food from the tablecloths, which tasted awful. Even when dishes started falling off the tables because of the pigeons, the waiters kept walking around and watching. We got the impression that the waiters were operating according to the principle "I can't wait to go home." Not exactly the place we'd go for coffee again. It took a long time for the coffee to be "ready." Ice-cold apple pie, which was thankfully microwaved by a friendly employee.

We were sitting on the terrace, but it was not cleaned: almost all the tables were covered with used cups, and pigeons were stealing food from the tables. When I ordered a small Margarita pizza, it arrived almost cold and very dry. Later, when we ordered a Pumpkin Spice coffee, it was served without whipped cream at first, although they did bring the cream later. It was quite disappointing, as we expected a better level of service.

I waited for over ten minutes on an empty terrace, completely ignored by the staff. Tables weren't cleared, and hardly any customers were inside. Fortunately, Zwolle has more to offer.

Fantastic location, but the staff seems to be auditioning for "Zwolle's most disinterested look." Clutter and filth continue to plague the dining experience, and the restrooms... well, they're an adventure you'd rather not embark on.

We had delicious specialty coffees, one with amaretto, the cappuccino with an extra shot, and both with whipped cream. The amaretto was lukewarm, though the flavor was good. The price, however...almost €14 combined...probably "big-city prices." Conveniently, you can order and pay via QR code, and there's more selection online than on the menu. The place looks neat, with restrooms down a flight of stairs, and seating and workspaces there as well. A tip: use slightly sturdier toilet paper; it breaks easily, and you'll end up digging in the dispenser.

Great place to study with coffee and cake, very well located in the city center. The service was excellent! We came for breakfast, the food was fine, nothing special, but sufficient :) I personally didn't find the chai strong enough; it tasted more like coffee, unfortunately. I recommend everyone go for a long walk, but not for lunch or breakfast; there are much better options in Zwolle 🫶🏼😌

The downside is that the quality is good, the selection is wide, and the location is great on Melkmarkt. It's a large building, so it has to serve a lot of customers. It's understaffed, and when it's busy, it's practically impossible to handle. It's just not fun having to wait half an hour for your friend to enjoy a cup of coffee.

Great location. Friendly staff. We have a loyalty card, so we often go here. It's a shame, though, that the whipped cream is on top of the coffee. Sometimes the coffee gets cold because of the whipped cream. Perhaps they could serve the whipped cream separately in a small bowl.

I had ordered a delicious Sunny Melon, which turned out to be only half full. Still a good review because the manager solved it very neatly. Everyone makes mistakes, it's about how it is solved afterwards. Well done Douwe Egberts!

Very nice coffee shop, plenty of choice, relaxed atmosphere

Had a lovely cup of coffee in the morning because I had to take shelter from the rain. A simple question about where I could leave my umbrella was answered promptly and thought along with. The coffee tasted at least twice as good because of that. If you are walking and need shelter from the rain? Then the DE Café is definitely recommended. With cheerful energy - Bart -

Bought a promotion card for 25,- 10 times coffee. However, pay attention to the date! Apparently there is an end time. I find that strange. I just paid for it: nothing free or anything. There was nothing to talk about.

The whole thing has the atmosphere of a biological laboratory, ordering is complicated, but not paying: the prices are high. The teenage staff are mainly interested in themselves and their mobile phones. Any other thing is better.

I study here every week, but I am always shocked by the prices that are asked. A simple flavored soft drink costs almost 5 euros! I have no objection to paying for something, but the experience surrounding it also plays a role. Ordering via a QR code or picking up your order yourself and standing in line, and then asking such prices... If you are served at the table and your order is taken, then I understand. But now that is not the case. They soullessly bring your order to your table, without any interest, conversation or interest in the guest. That doesn't justify the high price. The only reason why I study here is the long opening hours.

Nice location. We were unable to order with QR. (Might be the age). Asked for help but they had no time for us. This is not that difficult was the answer. Fortunately, there are more addresses for a cup of coffee that are customer-friendly. Just left. Thanks for the response, but I don't dare come in here anymore.

Nice cafe in Zwolle city center. Very big and a lot of freelancers and students love to spend time there.

It has become my and my husband's favorite café when we go into town. Friendly staff and lots of different nice corners to sit in on different floors. Upstairs from the window there is a beautiful view over the Grote Markt. Cappuccino is tasty and a hot chocolate okay. Not the greatest unfortunately. I can't say anything about the food because we have never eaten anything there, although it all looks delicious.

Excellent quality coffee. Time is taken to deliver the order pico bello. The 'queuing system' is a bit confusing for a 'first time visitor'.

Cozy atmosphere and beautiful location. We had the Gingerbread Cappuccino and the Heavenly Hazelnut Deca. These were a little too sweet for my taste and with a little too much whipped cream, but it will definitely please the sweet tooth.
