Enjoyed a nice cup of fresh mint tea Nice and efficient service, had a yogurt with fresh fruit and a fried egg, which was really super, so yes, definitely going back again. The other places are still closed, so yeah, great.

It's actually quite nice, but very cramped. There are no prices listed on the beer menu... (-point). The staff isn't unfriendly, but not very approachable either.

Gluten-free bread available, that's great. One of the waitresses was nice. However, the person I settled with turned my two euro tip into an 11 euro tip, and only realized this when I pointed it out myself after receiving the receipt. Afterwards, I received 8.50 back in cash—"9 euros" according to the staff. You can't make that mistake by accident, because you can see the numbers literally on the receipt. I would advise the restaurant to look into abnormal tipping amounts on certain days and draw your own conclusions.

The snacks were okay, but they wouldn't serve alcohol without ID. The waiters weren't very friendly either!

Barlow is surrounded by any other restaurants. I have to say for lunch and a beer this is hard to beat. I had the teriyaki kip sandwich while my wife had the panini tuna melt. Both were really good and I have to add that the amount of chicken on my sandwich was twice what I'd expected. The beers were cold and the service great, tough to beat!!

Very tasty toasted sandwich and omelet. And a genuinely friendly waitress for whom nothing was too much trouble and who was always smiling. We sat comfortably by the street, so we weren't bored for a single second.

One of many bars/pubs at The Plein. It's generally hard to go wrong with any particular one. They've got a decent selection of beers, wines and cocktails. Various snacks to chow down on. Overall a nice place.

Ordered chicken teriyaki and it was indeed yaki... nothing but fatty bits and limp chicken skin on my plate. The nice girl asked if I wanted something else... she took my plate away and came back quickly and said: sorry, my manager won't let me take it back!... but you can order something else... RIDICULOUS!! We will never go there again!!

Nice place to look at, but the service was very unfriendly. There wasn't a smile to be seen, and we had to wait a long time for both food and drinks. We ordered a ribeye, steak tartare, and fries. The food was average to good, but certainly nothing special. No one asked if it tasted good or came by to check on it. All in all, we regret our choice. We won't be coming back here. Too bad!

Today we thoroughly enjoyed the various draft beers in the lovely sunshine, with some tasty snacks on the side. The service was top-notch, and they really understood that we were thirsty; in short: pure enjoyment!!

11.10 for a half-liter of Paulaner White on tap is really ridiculous. Especially when you hand out a beer menu that doesn't list any prices. I won't be going back to Barlow.

When it is crowded in The Hague, eg during the CPC, the service I this place sucks. Tenants are grumpy, show no respect and have no attention or time for you.

I come here a lot with friends, either to just hangout or have food. Good reliable place to eat; never lets me down. Made good friends with the bartender and have to give him his flowers. Fareed has taken care of me every single time I have come to Barlow. He’s always sociable, brings a good attitude and has answers to every problem. The other staff too are extremely warm and it seems all of them are quite close which makes it enjoyable to come to Barlow.

Tries to imitate fine dining with relatively small portions for high prices

Tried to order coffee today, but it didn't work. We were seated at a table for four and were turned away. There were only two of us. We sat on the couch by the fireplace and ordered coffee from the bar. It didn't arrive. After 45 minutes, without anything, we left. Not recommended.

We received excellent service. There was a pleasant, relaxed atmosphere, and we immediately felt welcome. Highly recommended!

Barlow has a good selection of draft beers (I like the Duvel 666) and a decent menu that ranges from traditional Dutch bar snacks like bitterballen to more conventional main courses such as risotto. The terras it’s quite nice with small gas fires and heating lamps on cooler days and a decent amount of seating that’s not too cramped. The service can range in quality and can sometimes be very slow unless you push to get their attention. I was okay but saw a couple leave after being ignored for quite a while.

The food was good, but the portions were small. A portion of cheese, on the other hand, was quite large. The service was a bit inconsistent, but could definitely be better. After all, a smile costs nothing.

The local cuisine was unique; the appetizer, main course, and dessert were delicious! And the beer suggestions were spot on! My husband and I had an amazing evening! The service was friendly and kind!!

Unfortunate experience, while I visit this bar for many years - I wasn’t allowed in because I was alone.. No objection given.. very strange.

We came here on a night out (in town visiting from Amsterdam). The bar was empty inside when we arrived but the DJ was playing. My two girlfriends and I grabbed a standing table a drink and were enjoying ourselves immensely. We were disturbed by a drunk patron who not leave us alone. We were clearly very uncomfortable and kept asking him and his friend to respect our space and stop talking to us. The staff were incredible. They gave him two warnings before escorting him out. Multiple bartenders checked in on us to make sure we were okay and let us know they had their eyes on what was happening. We felt very safe and taken care of. We closed the bar down dancing all night! Can’t wait to go back to visit this spot. Highly recommend for a night out. Thank you again to the incredible staff.

I had a big group for dinner. The weather was nice and I had hoped that the table would be outside. Without even having to ask, the table was set in the perfect location on the terrace. The group had a set menu which was excellent. The portions were bigger than expected and each dish was flavorful. The chefs outdid themselves. Each of my party guests had nothing but good remarks to say. The servers were by far my favorite element of the evening. Each one was extremely attentive at the perfect timing. Recommend great wine choices and most of all, we’re patient with this big group. It was a fantastic night where I, the organizer, did not have to stress one bit. I recommend this establishment with the upmost respect and I will gladly come again!

Lovely and attentive staff members that provide service within a minute, I have been asked every 15 to 20 minutes how am I doing which was great! Very quick and short waiting time. Food looks great and tastes even better. Everything is fresh, simple, refreshing and quite fulfilling. Drinks menu is wide and everyone can find something perfect. Beer selection is made of local and popular choices I definitely recommend trying the Kompaan beers! I got also recommended to try Bar love cocktail which might be my favourite cocktail from now on 🤩 I will be coming back soon and often!

I ordered risotto for lunch and received a super mini portion that wouldn't even be enough for my 6-year-old. The waiter said, "These are our lunch portions."

What immediately strikes you when you enter is how welcoming all the staff are. The atmosphere is great, and even on a summer evening, the fireplace is lit, which is quite cozy. The staff is friendly and attentive. The price-quality ratio is excellent. The only downside I can think of is that the service is in English. So, as a true Dutch person, you do need to speak a few words abroad.

Racist place. Doorman said the bar was “full,” yet the bar was half empty and there we empty tables in plain sight. We were neatly dressed and polite, and just before us guests of other ethnicities (you can guess which) were waved straight in while we had to wait. Blatant discrimination. Take your money elsewhere.

Bar with an extremely unfriendly staff for a night out. I was asked to “cover” myself as a man wearing a tank top. Similar stupid requests towards my friends and their outfit. Avoid.

Absolutely pleasant experience at this restaurant! I had perfectly made Espresso Martinis at a fair price. My friends went for some pricier beers, which is understandable considering the location — right on the Plein, one of the liveliest spots in The Hague. The service was outstanding and super attentive. A friendly Slovakian guy made sure we were well taken care of the whole time. Even though it was busy, the bartenders were lightning-fast with the drinks, and everything came out just right. I’d 100% recommend this place if you’re looking for a great atmosphere, good conversation, and a little eye candy while you sip your cocktail. sb

I got a glass of red wine over my back, they didn't even say sorry, they even wanted to dab my back with a dirty cloth. Sent an email and it would be discussed in the meeting. In the end still no apology or possible compensation. An apology would have been enough for me. This really can't be right. Shame on you.

Very expensive. A cocktail consisting almost entirely of ice costs €10.

Wanted to grab a bite to eat. Got a burger with fries. Ordered medium, 2x. Was served rare. Waited half an hour, no staff to be seen on the terrace. After half an hour an English speaking girl came to ask if everything was to your liking... Explained, and also about the fries, half of which were badly fried. We were allowed to order new ones. When we indicated that that was enough and that we were done with it, she shrugged her shoulders and grabbed her ATM. She was not familiar with customer friendliness.

Let me save you some time and dignity: do not go to this bar. Unless, of course, you’re into overpriced drinks, toxic energy, and being greeted at the door by what might be the human embodiment of every reason nightlife can be trash. Let’s start with the door guy—because that’s where the nightmare begins. Rude? Check. Power-tripping? Double check. But the worst part? Straight-up racist ! The kind of guy who sizes you up based on the color of your skin before you even say a word. Watching him let in groups of people who look one way while inventing excuses to block others who don’t was like watching discrimination happen in real time—and management clearly doesn’t care. Inside, it doesn’t get better. The music is either painfully loud or just bad, the drinks are watered down yet priced like you’re in Manhattan, and the staff? Somewhere between apathetic and straight-up hostile. You’re lucky if your drink even resembles what you ordered. As for the crowd, it’s a chaotic mix of try-hards, creeps, and people who look like they wish they were literally anywhere else. And the vibe? About as welcoming as a police siren behind you at 2 a.m.
