I just asked for an apple pie which is ready on the bar. I could not get this for 20 minutes. When I attempt to ask again to waitress, she just throw a weird smile and turned back to inside. People seems to be forced to work here.

Good place for a quick bite, good simple food. Nice coffee, friendly young staff.

The chicken was tasty, but the menu is misleading. It says you are ordering a chicken with the picture of a whole chicken. It doesn't say anywhere that you get half a chicken. Still, you get half a chicken. The menu should just clearly state that you get half a chicken. I liked the chicken, but now I have a bitter aftertaste. So guys, adjust that menu! Nachos were okay and drinks and service just fine.

Potatoes are not so good haha but the drinks and workers are so helpful. İn some days there are events in there, O highly recommend you to join one of them, it is really really fun

Got charged 22.5 eur for two 0.5 classic beers which didn't seem reasonable. Feels like the waitress ripped us off

24 euros for two beers. It is quite overpriced compared to other nice bars around. 0.5L of IPA for an average beer and average atmosphere not worthy. Food was not special either but at least you didn't feel ripped off as with the beer prices. So sad 😞

No service, average drinks, worst attitude of waiters I have ever seen. . they don't speak the language of the country they live in and they treat you like shit. !!!!!!! just a waste of money

I didn't think the atmosphere was that great. But the breakfast, I had Greek yogurt with granola and fresh fruit, really tasty.

Super kleine Speisen zum Mittag in schöner Lage. Gerne wieder😋 Wir ( 2 Ew, 2 Kids) sind gestern zufällig an dem Laden vorbei und dann auch rein, weil es ansprechend war. Zum Mittag gibt es Sandwiches, Hot Dogs und andere Kleinigkeiten. Einfache Dinge einfach lecker zubereitet. Die Größe der Portionen sind genau richtig um danach noch durch Den Haag zu schlendern.

Hoender en Hop The Hoender en Hop restaurant is located right in the city center of The Hague on the large market. It's a nice restaurant with a very long counter and a really large outdoor area. The staff was very nice and accommodating. The beer and drinks were good and well chilled. You can park in the parking garage, which is only a minute away.

Great music and vibe brought by the cooks and servers, lovely japanese chicken and fries.

They can learn from other cities about richly filled nachos that taste good Friendly staff too, will come by again soon when I'm in the area 😊

The Aperol didn't taste like Aperol. The iced tea vodka consisted only of iced tea. And then it costs €11

As good as you’re going to get on Grote Markt for food and drinks. Well located with good view and people-watching. Friendly and attentive staff. We ordered the bitterballen as a snack to accompany our drinks and I must say I have not had better.

Came here because the view and location are amazing. The restaurant was quite full on the "terrace," but it didn't feel overcrowded. Amazing atmosphere at 17 a clock on a thursday. Food came really quick and the burger was a 10/10. One could say that the prices are quite high but I think the quality of the food and service are worth that price. Only minus is that the menu doesn't provide a big selection. I didn't try it but there is a burger option for vegans aswell. All in all would come again and enjoy some yummy food!

Nice Atmosphere, not bad prices

We were very badly impressed by the way the glasses were washed. The employee took from the dirty glasses he found in front of him to wash them, he put them in a sink full of soapy water, (where dozens of other glasses were being washed in the same water)! He picked them up and then dunked them into a nearby sink of water and then in a split second and before they could drain or wipe, he filled them with the drinks. That is, the glasses at the end contained the drinks of the orders and soaps together!!!

Had a delicious lunch at Hoender en Hop. On the terrace in the sun. Friendly staff and the club sandwich was phenomenal! Recommended and I will definitely come back again

Pleasant pub, we were there to watch a football match during the European Championships, it was therefore full, so apart from drinks we only had nachos.

We kwamen aan bij het terras en het werd gelijk duidelijk dat de ondergeschikt was. De bestelling opnemen duurde lang en de bediening die dan kwam sprak geen Nederlands, enkel gebrekkig Engels. Hier kunnen wij echter nog wel mee leven, maar het feit dat ze zo lang doen over de bestelling brengen en dan ook nog eens dingen laten vallen op jou bevalt me niet. Hiernaast was de kwaliteit van het eten ook erg matig. De saus op de nachos was misselijkmakend, de prijs-kwaliteitverhouding was belachelijk en tenslotte werd er niet aangegeven dat de schaal vies was met als gevolg dat ik bijna m’n hand verbrandde. Ze kunnen de volgende keer ook wel servetjes en bestek brengen want zelfs dit ontbrak.

The people who work there are friendly, the fries are good, but otherwise the food was a big disappointment, which is a shame, because it is a nice location.

Cozy terrace! There was only one waiter who was very busy and therefore did not come by quickly. The food was disappointing. The burger was nothing special, little taste. The spareribs were better but a bit dry.

THIS TENT IS REALLY RECOMMENDED, SERVICE IS POOR AND UNFRIENDLY STAFF. Me and two friends thought we would have something to eat after a day in The Hague and ended up at this place. The food was tasty. However, it took half an hour before someone (after raising their hand several times and being waved away) came to take our order. Then it took twenty minutes before our drinks (peps, Pepsi max and a raspberry lemonade) arrived. Our food (two burgers and spare ribs) took 50 minutes to arrive and yet they forgot the cheese on my burger. We were served a total of 1 time (ordered food and drinks at the same time). Furthermore, the employees were at the tables next to us, but we were ignored. After eating, we waited for another half hour, eventually someone picked up from inside to pay. During the checkout process, I had raised the issues we had experienced and told them calmly (I also work in the catering industry myself, so I understand that it is busy and that it can take a little longer), the lady who was paying us became very angry and responded very unfriendly. We didn't want a discount or anything, just let us know about the problems so that they could be taken into account. Very rude, the kitchen was great, but the service was too bad for words, the people were unfriendly and did not pay attention. They were talking together and smoking, but no serving was done. However, the young man with black curly hair who brought the drinks was great, he was super good and busy all the time (the only plus point for this place). We were only helped after walking in ourselves or approaching someone. We sat for over 2 hours in total, had one drink and our food.

The burger was very nice as well as the sweet potato fries! The whole roasted chicken dish was offered in a quite small portion compared to what I expected. The sticky chicken wings were very tasty. The service was friendly but not very attentive.

There is a good breakfast here. It's also great here in the evening. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The music here is also fun. Thank you very much

The popcorn latte was lukewarm... very unfortunate and the popcorn was very old. Bah. The elderberry lemonade was very tasty and beautifully decorated, 5 dumpers reason for the lemonade! Ordered the nachos last time (unfortunately ordered vegetarian because one of my friends is vegetarian 😴, very unfortunate) but they were also tasty, I would definitely order again. We had to wait more than fifteen minutes before we were helped, so no kudos for that either. In other words, I'm going to September next time, but unfortunately it was still not September☹️

We came for lunch but were passed over by the staff while other tables were served. After a drink (can be ordered via a QR code, not food) we left.

Nach kurzer Wartezeit einen Platz ergattert. Wir haben draußen gesessen und haben uns Kaffee mit Apfelkuchen und Sahne bestellt. Die Bedienung war nett und freundlich, die Bestellung wurde schnell geliefert. Der Apfelkuchen war typisch holländisch mit der Schicht Zimt-Zucker oben drauf und sehr frisch. Super lecker. Und das Ganze zu einem günstigen Preis. Hier verkehren auch viele Studenten und Einheimische. Gerne wieder

One of my favorite place here in Den Haag! The food is delicious (French fries and Beyond Pink Burger are the best to me), there’s always good music and the vibes… also the service is always on point and you can find a huge variety on the menu. The only negative point is about the price: you pay 20 euro and you only get the burger without the fries as a side. This has been a little bit disappointing!

Very tasty food and cozy place! Also delicious lemonade! Not 5 stars because our empty plates were not cleared after the meal, and even when the coffee was brought they left everything behind. When paying they did explicitly ask for a tip, but I didn't give one...

Food (chicken burger) was ok, service is weird (app, beckoning, to the bar etc), and atmosphere is messy.

When you ask if you can pay, you are simply told by the lady at the counter that she has finished working and just continues walking. Don't even have the decency to call a colleague because you can wait a long time outside before being helped.

The food was fine for a cafe. The staff did not come by themselves to take an order, we had to beckon them over and over. Atmosphere is fine.

I'll start with the best, the burgers were super delicious. One of the best burgers I've ever eaten. A few of us had the fowl special and the big boy and we all had a nice meal. The fries that you have to order were also very tasty. Everyone was friendly, but we noticed that the service did not always go smoothly, a mistake with paying, forgetting a dish, etc. There was also a performance and therefore everything had to be paid for immediately (per drink) while we were eating. And if I have to be really critical, we were sitting at the door and it was constantly opening and so we kept getting a cold wind on us. But otherwise a nice experience, definitely don't hesitate to come and eat a delicious burger here!

While waiting for the Greek national basketball game against the Dutch national team we found this cozy place for coffee and then a very tasty soup. The people of the store showed great tolerance to our long stay in the store. We thank them for their hospitality. We will definitely visit this welcoming place again.

What a joke. So you call yourself chicken and beer and then there is no chicken left to order. Service was terrible and slow. Overpriced nonsense and never go back

Service is getting worse by the day. Usually they do not speak Dutch and treat the guest as if the guest should be happy that they are coming to the table.

Excellent service and delicious food

Excellent unlimited breakfast in the centre of the Hague. Unlimited coffee too, and the maple syrup bacon was to die for! Great staff and delicious food.

When I asked for another coffee by hand gesture from some distance, waiter never brought. When the waiter stoped for another table, I asked for a coffee. After all, I was asked to pay for 3 coffees. I tried to explain that he didn’t bring one of those but no luck. I wish I could keep my 2.90 euros. Coffees were served in big mugs, which they were almost half empty, I’m not sure if it’s how they serve.

Slecht hertog Jan bier kwam er uit het vat. Het schuim leek wel op zeepsop en de smaak was heel vreemd. Jupiler was beter. De heater buiten deed het opeens niet meer. Ik kies voorlopig even voor een ander terras op de grote markt.

Één van de leukere zaken op de Grote Markt. Super relaxt terras, vriendelijk personeel en een breed assortiment. Personeel komt helaas weinig langs tafel, waardoor bestellen aan de bar een must wordt. Beetje jammer.

Erg toeristisch, koffie is niet top. Wel goede service en eten staat snel op tafel.

Wat drankjes gedronken, niet gegeten. €3,80 voor een vaasje Jupiler

Mjam mjam mjam mjam mjam, nou als een review zo begint dan weet je dat het goed zit. We hebben hier met 3 man ontzettend lekker gegeten! Sfeer was goed, personeel was ontzettend leuk en vriendelijk, vooral de koks. Hier hoop ik zeker vaker terug te komen om de rest van hun overheerlijke menu te proeven.

Good vibes, enjoyed my visit. Pedaled to the Hague from Rotterdam and wanted to find a nice place to eat before hitting up the museum. This place was my second choice after my first was closed. The patio area was packed. I was tired and just felt like relaxing so I sat inside in one of the booths. I was ignored by the staff for about 15 minutes before someone came over and took my order for beer and nachos. Fine, I know they were busy on the patio, but the interior was nearly dead, so they weren't THAT busy. The food and beer was good The nachos were not the best I've ever tasted, but they were still quite good. All my subsequent drink orders and cashing out had to be done at the bar, because the server never came back over to my table. Fine, I can take care of it myself. Also, when I stopped by about an hour later to have another drink, after touring a museum, my dirty plate from my original visit was still on the table.

Personeel was slecht herkenbaar. Bitterballen die niet voor ons waren werden bijna op tafel gesmeten. Wat de bedoeling was van de spekkies was ook niet duidelijk, en de red velvet cake had net iets te lang gestaan op een tafel waar iedereen maar langs kan lopen.

Echt de allerduurste hamburger ooit gegeten. De eenvoudigste is €24 incl. een bakje friet. En het was heel koud binnen, want de buitendeuren bleven open, ondanks een paar keer aangeven dat het tochtte. Als het eind oktober buiten warmer is dan binnen, gaat er iets mis. Geen aanrader.

Ik heb even een opmerking voor de managers die ik neem aan het personeel aansturen/instrueren. Ik heb wisselende ervaringen bij Hoender en Hop. Je kunt heerlijk op het terras zitten. Alleen merk ik dat afhankelijk van het personeel je lang, maar dan ook echt lang, moet wachten voordat je opgemerkt word en een drankje kunt bestellen. Ook al valt het mee met de drukte. Het personeel kijkt simpelweg niet. Ze letten niet op. En dit is toch essentieel als je in de bediening werkt. Het is niet aan de gasten om te moeten werken voor de aandacht van de bediening.

Visitando l'Aja una sosta in questo pub tipico è d'obbligo. Abbiamo mangiato un hamburger ben servito e bevuto una buona birra. Servizio eccellente e camerieri molto gentili. Un salutone al nostro daniel che ci ha fatto sentire a casa. Grazie

Sehr toll eingerichtetes Restaurant mit guter Bierauswahl. Nette Bedienung und entspannte Atmosphäre. Preis Leistung ist hier Ortsüblich, aber es gibt für jeden Geschmack etwas.

Erg duur de huiswijn en zo maar iets extra op de rekening waar ik niet om heb gevraagd. Ook erg veel wietdampen dus echt lekker eten is dat niet, terwijl het eten zelf best prima was. Jammer!

Lekkere koffie. Appel-kruimeltaart was redelijk. Vriendelijk personeel.

Had lunch there. The food is good, although the portions are small. Staff is nice though. Edit after 4 years: dear God how could you make these portions even smaller! Shame on you! Don't order the pancakes as you will be disappointed. One bite and they're gone. For a whopping 9 euro (with half fried, half burned cheap assbacon). The taste was alright, but I feel ripped off.

Snackplatter was goed en gevarieerd. Maar geef er in jezusnaam iets fris bij. Stukje tomaat, ketchup, een rode salsa of citroen. Het is veel en de sausen zijn enkel romig. We zaten er snel vol van. Service prima, GM blijft een fijne plek.

Friendly though cool service staff. Good beer. A limited wine list. But the food... the fish and chips were laced with a sweet Hoisin sauce and with mayonnaise... there was more (burnt) batter than fish that, admittedly, was good, but the whole was virtually inedible. A friend had the burger and asked for it and the bacon to be well done but they weren't - the bacon was very undercooked. The music selection was inoffensive but they need a sound system that is adjusted for the amount of metal surface on the walls...
